Hobbies: Food: Ever since she was a small girl at her grand-mère’s knee, Ottilie has loved all things food. Yes, the eating is very nice, but her true passion lies in the preparation of food. Cooking, baking, brewing. She loves all of it. She is happiest when in the kitchen concocting something wonderful. She loved it so much that upon arrival in Destiny City, one of the first things she did was to purchase her own small café where she is owner, head chef and server. She will cook and or bake all the things!
Fêtes Renaissance: Growing up in France, Ottilie’s grand-mère would often take her to various renaissance and fairy festivals. As a child, she adored the costuming and markets that sprung up. The historical side of things never really caught on, she was far more interested in the romance of it all. As she grew older, Ottilie began to volunteer to work at various fairies and fests. It lets her dress up and pretend for a little while. After grand-mère passed on and Ottilie moved to Destiny City, she continued to patronize the local renaissance fairies, though she finds them very different from what she grew up with. She is reasonably certain, par exemple, that furries were not part of the renaissance or medieval eras. Still, it’s fun. She still volunteers when she has time, but mostly she goes simply to dress up and be made much of.
Fiber Crafts: Grand-mère taught Ottilie how to knit and crochet when she was young, perhaps around twelve or so. It was a means of keeping quiet and calm whenever Mère and Père rowed. The colors and textures of the yarn, the extraordinary amount of things that can be made, the blessed stillness that would seep into her mind. Ottilie loves it all. Fiber arts is her go to when she’s unable to access a kitchen and she’s feeling anxious. She always carries a small project bag wherever she goes and she always has multiple items in various stages of completeness.
Virtues: Friendly: Ottilie has big golden retriever energy when it comes to friends. If you’re not a friend yet, she’s sure you will be soon and oh! Isn’t that exciting?!? Ottilie sees friendship as a gift and she’s eager, willing and happy to share it with everyone she meets.
Generous: Ottilie has always been the giving type. Whether it was food, friendship, time or hilariously terrible yarn monstrosities when she was a child. She is a firm believer in making sure that if she can provide something to someone in her vicinity, it is both her duty and pleasure to do so. Giving is her love language.
Creative: In spite of the kitchen and fiber crafting spheres having rules and ideas for how certain things should be made set in stone, Ottilie often and with great relish adds in her own little touches. She sees no reason why she can’t try new things. If no one did, then the world would be so boring! L'horreur!
Flaws: Overly Romantic: Due to the somewhat… volatile environment that she grew up in, Ottilie began to over-idealize a great deal about her life and her parents. From there, this progressed to creating idealized versions of every unpleasant thing in order to keep her world bright and happy. Escaping into her cheerful little fantasies may have kept Ottilie from becoming bitter, unfortunately, it has also kept her from recognizing red flags that really shouldn’t be ignored.
Petulant: Ottilie’s typical reaction to any kind of disappointment or set back is to sulk petulantly. She will become irritable, peevish and complain almost incessantly about things not working out how she wanted them to. Usually in French. Until she can patch her fantasy world back up, she will be a miserable person to be around.
Spoiled: As a child, Ottilie was often given whatever she wanted without really having to put effort into it. Toys, pets, clothing, everything was handed to her. As she grew up and her parents began fighting, and ultimately divorced, her grand-mère ramped up showering Ottilie in whatever she desired as a means to soothe her during a difficult time. Even now, with her beloved grand-mère gone, Ottilie still has things practically hanged to her on a silver plate in the form of a substantial trust and inheritance. Her job is less a job because she needs one and more just doing what she feels like with no fears of consequences or setbacks. We’re sure everything will be fine the moment an oven breaks or Ottilie is forced to deal with a world that isn’t as doting as her grandmother.
