For the past week or so Quicksilver had been adapting to the changes that had to be dealt with on a nightly basis. No longer had she a safe place to stay in order to ward off the elements but her coat was plenty long enough to block most of the chill that was heralding fall's approach. She currently had her back to the slight breeze even as she sat like a silent statue. The fact of the matter was that she was cold. Long fur be damned. It was downright miserable weather to be outside in, so why wasn't she inside a nice warm safe space for the evening? The answer simply was there was a stronger force holding her immobile for the time being.
Her gaze had been locked on the figure sitting on the fountain's edge. That the figure was a senshi was a given. Quicksilver had already ascertained this preliminary fact along with the sense that her services were not needed like they had been for Aberdonia. So what was the draw that held her in place? The answer was fairly obvious, at least to her, it was. There was an item being turned this way and that in the unknown senshi's hands and it drew the Mauvian's attention in and had ensnared her. It chased away any rational thoughts from the kitten's mind. Whatever that object was, it cried out to her, demanding liberation.
With the slightest twitch of the small whiskers that adorned her face Quicksilver began to close the distance between herself and the unknown senshi. She attempted to be quiet at first but gave up on that front as she drew nearer to this stranger. Her steps that had been hesitant at first grew bolder as she marched into view. Throwing caution to the wind the kitten paused directly in front of the female in order to eye the prize she sought before she lowered the front half of her body to the ground and simultaneously raised her back end into the air. It was a clumsy attempt at a bow, signalling respect. Her bow completed, she raised herself before her paws tapped a small flourish before she spun in a circle in front of this senshi.
Okay, as far as routines went, it was mediocre at best. Quicksilver knew it and vowed to work diligently to craft something worthy of who she was. Her dancing complete for the moment the silver-furred kitten leaped onto the ledge of the fountain before moving closer before flopping down in an exaggerated motion.
"Hello," she chirped at the senshi. She rolled over carefully onto her back before continuing to speak, "would you mind if I stole some of your body heat? It's rather chilly tonight, even with all this fur."
In her mind, she'd worked out a four step method to separating the senshi from the object she had been holding earlier.
Step 1: Disarm Step 2: Get closer Step 3: Distract Step 4: Steal.

As Tempesti sat on the lip of the fountain, Tempesti used her little golden mirror to reflect what light she could onto the scrape on her knee, watching as the skin sealed itself leaving only a few faint pink markings behind. It was certainly good for basic first aid, even if it wasn’t quite strong enough to fix more severe wounds. The presence of another Order energy signature was reassuring and delight suffused her face when her gaze landed on a small Mauvian who engaged in the most adorable bow and twirl routine before taking a seat beside her. Setting down her mirror, she turned her attention fully toward the newcomer. “Oh, of course not! I’ve got a scarf in my subspace if you’d like to borrow it.” A soft, saffron colored knitted scarf appeared in her hands. It wouldn’t do to let this poor kitten stay cold, after all.

Well, she hadn't been chased off. That was a start. Quicksilver eyed the scarf that was produced in response to her question before she gave the shinier object on the fountain ledge the side eye. Her tail twitched before stilling and the Mauvian nestled up into the folds of the scarf that had been presented to her for use. How wondrous was this little knit marvel? The kitten blinked sweetly in response before the kitten instinct took over and she attempted to chase the end of the scarf ... only to wind herself more securely in the loose folds.
"Thank you for this. It definitely does the trick."
Her gaze fell to the little compact once more before she gave the senshi her full attention. "I don't think I've seen you before. I'm Quicksilver."

Tempesti laughed softly at the kitten’s antics, pleased that the little Mauvian liked the feel of the scarf. Maybe she could knit some scarves for Mauvians sometime if that was something that they would enjoy. It would certainly be cute. “I’m happy you like it.” She studied the Mauvian, trying to determine what color would best suit her. Maybe a nice purple, or a blue that would complement her eyes. If only she could make something that could shrink and grow when they changed forms. “I don’t think we’ve met either, I’m Sailor Tempesti.” She extended a hand toward the adorable grey furball. If she wasn’t inclined to have her little paw shaken, she could always bat her fingers.

Quicksilver had been surreptitiously eyeing the trinket that had been placed to the side of the senshi, Tempesti. It was a mysterious item that was on a chain. It looked like one of those compact mirrors that human females liked to stash away in purses in order to do make-up touch ups. But this senshi had not been using it for that purpose from what she could remember from earlier. Maybe there was something special about it then?
Freeing herself a little from the scarf, but keeping the fabric draped over her back Quicksilver arched her spine before settling and allowed Tempesti to shake the paw that she extended outwards to complete the ritual greeting that all humans did.
"It's nice to meet you. It's not surprising we've not met. I'm still pretty, well, new to this life."
Wasn't that an overstatement though. Quicksilver allowed herself a moment of reflection before she piled most of the scarf's fabric underneath her in order to lie down without exposing her underside to the cool surface of the fountain's edge.
Her gaze once more moved to the senshi's side before she shook her head and continued her train of thought from earlier, "It's all so strange to me. I'm learning new things everyday though."
Stop showing interest in the real prize, she scolded herself.

Tempesti gently shook the kitten’s paw, managing to contain the temptation to squeal over how adorable she was. As difficult as it was, Mauvians were incredibly cute after all, she chided herself for needing to be reminded that they were an ancient and technologically advanced race. Not kitties. Even if they looked like them. She could save it for Reginald when she got home. At least she seemed to be enjoying the scarf. She smiled reassuringly, “I know what you mean, I only awakened in January so everyone I’ve met has taught me something. Still, I know I’ve only barely scratched the surface. Is it like that for you?” Her attention was far from her mirror for the moment, focused as she was on her new companion.

With the shaking of her paw the small Mauvian inwardly felt pleased with herself. This senshi, Tempesti, was lowering her guard around her and that meant that when she finally chose to strike that perhaps she could make a clean getaway with her coveted prize in tow. As she moved to encase herself more in the folds of the scarf Quicksilver's gaze widened perceptively before she casually arched her back with a soft meow. "It's been an eye-opening experience for me as well. One moment I thought I was just a normal kitten and all that ... and bam, then everything changed. I knew who I was and what I needed to do in order to help senshi like yourself."
Moving fluidly, Quicksilver shifted one end of the scarf that she was swallowed up in to lay over the trinket that the senshi had placed beside her as she continued to speak, "Knowing who I am though, while beneficial, opens a whole new can of worms so to speak. Now that I'm aware of who I am ... so do our common enemies. It's a daunting task."
With the trinket covered with the scarf Quicksilver had moved even closer to Tempesti's side in order to sneak her paw underneath the fabric in order to gently caress the strange object with her little toebeans. Now all she had to do was make the thing disappear without Tempesti catching on. Simple right?

Tempesti offered a sympathetic nod as the kitten spoke, she imagined that had to be even more overwhelming than awakening as a senshi. She couldn’t claim to know what it felt like to be a cat of any type, but going from being a fuzzball with no responsibilities to being someone with powers, duties, and the ability to create in a way that no one else can would be a lot. “That sounds like it would be heavy, if I can do anything to help you, or if you need someone to give you some backup let me know.” Noticing the Mauvian burrowing in the folds of the scarf she felt even more confident in her decision to help her ward off the cold. Maybe she could make her a little scarf of her own sometime, and carry her wherever she needed to go to keep the winter chill at bay.

Steady, steady ... wait ... what did she say?
Quicksilver's attention was thrown back to Tempesti as the senshi spoke about how heavy of a load it was that she, Quicksilver, had to carry around with her. Absently the kitten nodded to show agreement before she once more ducked under the scarf. It was serving a bit of a dual purpose at the moment in helping to ward off the cool wind that was blowing but it was also concealing what she was trying to do. Her front left paw had delicately snagged itself on the chain by now and she was slowly trying to draw the object closer to her. She was still too new to everything going on at once but all she knew was that she really wanted to study whatever this thing was further. In order to do so, she had to liberate it from Tempesti.
Sticking her head out from the fabric Quicksilver watched the senshi for a curious moment before sighing softly, "I'd like that offer. It's dangerous as it is for someone to be alone while on duty but at least with someone watching your back it turns out to be a lot safer."
Her prize was nearly at her side now and the Mauvian's attention seemed to shift before she felt the weight around her paw disappear. Was that it then? Did she have the treasure safely tucked away? Her paws itched to carry her far away now but she had to play it cool. Her gaze tracked down to the edge of the scarf before she untangled herself from it. Now would be the time for the calm and collected exit without drawing attention to her actions. "Thank you for the use of the scarf ... it was very kind of you to offer it. I feel that I would definitely like to take up your offer of assistance ..."
Making an effort to jump down off the ledge of the fountain Quicksilver felt the claws on her back leg snag on the scarf and bring it down over her. Oh crap, that meant the ledge was exposed now. It would be wise to simply get free of the scarf and make her escape before things were noticed. Kicking her back legs frantically to shed herself of the now problematic scarf, Quicksilver began to panic just a little. She had the trinket safe and sound but if she couldn't free herself then the senshi could simply pick her up and demand the item's return. If she had any idea that Quicksilver was the thief though.

Tempesti watched the kitten wriggling around in the scarf and briefly wondered if her new companion had managed to get herself tangled in the yarn. She was probably just getting comfortable. Though she was aware that Mauvians were distinct from earthly cats she had to imagine that the ways they made a spot more hospitable would be similar and she’d seen Reginald burrow in much the same way many times. She really hoped that it wasn’t racist to base her speculation on what a regular cat would do. A smile crossed her face at the Mauvian’s response, grateful for her willingness to accept assistance. It would certainly alleviate her own worries if she could help keep one of their own safe. “Of course, I’m happy to help!”Caught off guard by the sudden motion, a flash of concern passed through the senshi as the kitten fell from the fountain’s edge. Maybe her attempts to get comfy had been a bit too vigorous and she’d taken the scarf and the mirror with her. Reaching downward, she began gently separating feline from fabric and with each motion it became more obvious that her mirror was not part of the pile. It seemed that her companion had a bit of a mischievous streak. “Quicksilver, did my mirror happen to fall into your subspace?” There was no anger in her tone, after all she couldn’t have known that it was more than a mere trinket. “If it did, could you give it back please? It’s rather important to me.” She maintained a light hold on the Mauvian, hoping it was enough to discourage her from simply scampering off.

Busted.
Quicksilver's body twisted a little in the senshi's grasp before she stilled her flailing motion. Craning her neck to stare up at Tempesti the kitten turned her greatest weapon onto the senshi ... her charm. She blinked slowly before giving a soft mewing cry before exhaling softly. How could anyone suspect that she would steal? Inwardly she was berating herself for being so clumsy at her attempt to liberate the mirror.
How could she respond without incriminating herself? Was there anything she could do to prove that she didn't actively set out to steal it? Perhaps acting like it had accidentally fallen into her little pocket dimension would be the right call to escape detection that it had been intentional.
Scrunching her eyes closed the kitten pretended to concentrate before her eyes opened again and she shivered. Acting ignorant of all that had the ability to store things out of sight could also help her in this regard. Her blue orbs softened and she twisted to try and pat the hand that was gently gripping her before looking around with a small amount of befuddlement, "how would I know if it did, I don't think so. Is there a way to figure that out?"
Act innocent, do not let on to the fact that you know what you are talking about.
Maybe she could still be friends if it was thought that her intentional theft was only a happy little accident.

Well, it certainly seemed like the Mauvian was committed to the bit. The cute little kitten face was effective but considering the fact that her mirror was nowhere to be seen in the scarf, the fountain, or anywhere else in sight the only conclusion Tempesti could draw was that it had made its way into the kitten’s subspace. “I apologize for grabbing you, but it’s not anywhere else…and I’m not angry with you if you’re concerned about that, I’d just like it back please. I use it to clean up minor wounds and it’s been very helpful to me.” She had her doubts as to whether it was accidental, but the senshi had little interest in being harsh with a mischievous Mauvian. It was a fairly harmless crime and there was no way for her to know about the magic in the mirror. “Well, your subspace is where you can store items that you don’t want to carry around. If you focus on what you want, it should reappear. Or disappear in this case.” Maintaining a gentle grip on the scamp with one hand, she held out the other expectantly.

There was the barest sound of a growl that reverberated through her body but Quicksilver knew when to simply concede things. Her gaze moved to study Tempesti before the young kitten began to realize that what she had taken was more useful with someone who could wield its magic efficiently. All she would have seen was a shiny mirror on a chain. Sure it would have looked good with her but it was not hers to keep. Listening to what Tempesti said about accessing one's subspace pocket to make something appear (or disappear) did the Mauvian's face screw up in concentration. What could have been a very pregnant pause followed before the item in question popped back into existence to fall neatly into Tempesti's waiting palm.
Even if this senshi said that she wasn't angry with her there was no telling if those words had been spoken truthfully. Her ears lay flat along her skull before she had the sense to look down to the ground in shame. Her voice, trembling, broke the silence, "I honestly don't know how that happened. I am sorry though."
Looking down at the scarf that had delayed her escape attempt, Quicksilver raised her face towards the young woman before she cleared her throat, "would I be allowed to keep the scarf?"
It would serve her right if her new request was denied but Quicksilver could at least get something out of this encounter ... even if it wasn't a bright and shiny mirror. Maybe she could still at least be able to keep the chill of the season off of her if she were to be allowed to keep the knitted item.

The growl caught Tempesti off guard but she could hardly blame the Mauvian for being upset at someone grabbing her. She’d definitely feel the same way were the roles reversed. “Thank you very much,” the senshi smiled at the kitten. “Even if your subspace wasn’t acting up, you would have had no way of knowing it wasn’t just a regular mirror.” She was fairly certain that the little cat was bending the truth when it came to how the object wound up in her subspace, but there was no point in leveling an outright accusation, especially since she’d handed over the mirror with very little complaint. “You can keep the scarf, it has been getting pretty cold lately.” It wouldn’t do to let her wander off in the cold without something to help her ward it off at least a little. “I meant what I said earlier, by the way. I’m happy to give you backup if you happen to need it. Just, please keep the sticky fingers…paws…to a minimum in the future.”tefla I'm good wrapping here or in the next post if you are
