Quote:
The Creature in the Well (3) : While Destiny City has a modern water system, it’s not uncommon to see decorative wells around the city. Often in parks or around gardens, they grant a peaceful, countryside flair to the otherwise busy metropolis. Most days, they blend into the background. Not today. Maybe you heard a powerful, fierce splash, like something smacking violently against the water, or maybe it was the unnerving croak that echoed from deep below, but something has clearly gotten trapped in the well. Sometimes, there’s the distinct sound of something clawing, scratching, climbing–desperate to get out. The noise its making is deep enough to vibrate through the ground. If you go to investigate, you’ll see nothing but a pair of golden, snakelike eyes staring back up at you. Whatever it is, its body is completely submerged under the water, but just looking into its eyes is enough to petrify someone. There’s something hypnotic about it, something that seems like it’s drawing you into the well. And why shouldn’t you climb in? What’s stopping you? Danger is forgotten; the creature in the well has made a target of you. Hopefully you have someone to pull you out of the trance–or, maybe if you’re strong enough, you can do it yourself. If you lose the battle with the creature, you will fall unconscious just as you hit the water in the well; you will feel the sensation of something coiling around you, crushing you, and then–blackness. You will wake up in a hospital with a day lost and no memory of what happened in the well, or how you were pulled out. You only have bumps and bruises, and when you close your eyes you’re haunted by the chilling golden eyes in the well. If you return to it, you’ll find nothing but a strange, croaking echo.

Really, ever since the stupid incident with the die that pulled her into that weird glowing path in the abyss, Daesva didn't exactly... go as far out of her way to wander around the city as Storm. At least, not until she felt pretty confident the potential dangers had passed. Even if the only real danger she'd encountered was a toy that had sent her into a strange... illusion? Place? She still wasn't even entirely sure how it all worked, or where she'd been.

But at least for that night... she reached out. Mentioned to Aliez about an elaborate garden she'd located more in the outskirts of the city. Sprawling land with numerous glass and metal structures--greenhouses. Most weren't locked, however, it was some sort of community project and allowed open access. Which to her was just asking for trouble, given some of the more selfish acts humans especially seemed capable of... but the sentiment was something she appreciated.

The greenhouses themselves were beautifully lit and incredibly, comfortably in her mind, warm. Different varieties of food crops were grown at different times of the year, attempts to farm them outside of their typical growing and harvest seasons. The idea was simple, but a wonderful one to her. Expand the amount of food that could be locally grown and accessed by the community, regardless of the outside weather. The only real issue was funding and resources, from what she understood.

Seemed like a neat enough place to check out more in depth, and she was curious to take a look at their electrical systems for their heating and watering supply. If they could come up with some more efficient alternatives humans could use at low cost and low impact on resources, maybe they could... help? She wasn't sure on that, but the vague thought appealed to her.

And thus, here they were, the night air nipping and the slight breeze only adding to that. But there were no locks to need to get by, no humans around to be mindful of for the moment. The garden was still lit up within, some holiday themed decorations put up. Lights in dull orange, bright green and purple, cheery looking scarecrows outside the different greenhouses with painted smiles and eyes. Plenty of carved pumpkins with small electric lights casting fake fire light through the slits and smiles. It was... cute.

Aliez was grateful for the warmth of the greenhouse. The moment they stepped inside, his shoulders seemed to relax and he drew in a breath that filled his scenes with damp earth and a faint floral fragrance.

“It’s beautiful,” he murmured, stepping close to a row of tomatoes growing wildly out of season. His ComTech pinged once — quiet and unobtrusive — before he silenced it so he wouldn’t break the peacefulness.

“I’m glad you found this,” he added, offering Daesva a small smile. “I really want to explore and record what we can so we can bring it back to Andreiya. I know he has limited space in his greenhouse back at the house, but maybe we can get some ideas about how to make things more efficient.”

He moved to join her near the heating system, crouching to study the wiring, but glanced back up at her with a small smile. “I’m happy you asked me to come.”
