After what had been an interesting but otherwise mundane conversation she had eavesdropped on at the manor, Agatha thought it might be time to step outside the bounds of the old building and its garden. Nobody had come looking for her, and she'd read through enough books that she felt like she could make decent headway on expanding her knowledge of the surrounding area.

That cursed pen was tucked into a small purse that hung over her shoulder as she stepped out of one of the side entrances of the manor, waiting until she heard the sound of water running, which meant Aloysius would be unable to catch her exit. The night air was brisk, sending a slight shiver through her as she looked around. The sound of crickets or birds was absent, due to the cold, possibly, she thought.

That woman had left not long ago, but she saw no sign of her yet, something that left her almost perturbed. It didn't matter much as she focused on the path ahead, keeping out of sight of the windows that she knew led to the rooms of Desiree, Liam, and Aloysius. Only one of the three could be accounted for, and even if Liam had told her she could wander freely, she preferred to have as little of her business poked into if she could manage it.

Once she cleared the tall hedges and iron gate, she felt an invisible weight lift off her shoulders. While she hadn't been trapped, she had never really felt that way at the manor; something about being outside and unimpeded felt as if it settled something that remained, even if the memory related to the feeling was still missing.

Sakura had driven just down the road before parking and resting her forehead against the steering wheel for a moment. While she felt comforted knowing that Aloy had her back, she still couldn't help but wonder how much was real care and how much was an act, and that bothered part of her, deep down. Sighing to herself, she got out of the car and leaned against it, rubbing her face. She was going to think herself in circles at this rate and she knew it.

Shaking her head, she pushed the thoughts and concerns away for now. Her brow furrowed however as she noticed someone unfamiliar walking away from the house and in her direction. Aloysius hadn't mentioned having a guest, though he did keep glancing towards the doorway. Lifting her hand in a half wave, Sakura offered a small, tired smile at the woman as she approached.

Noticing the gesture, she responded in kind as she approached. This was the woman she'd seen approaching the house, the one who looked vaguely familiar even if she wasn't sure why. If they were part of Aloysius's team, then perhaps she'd seen the woman in a picture on Liam's phone or in some other way.

Taking a look at the car, something that she'd been in but still wasn't sure about, she noticed something odd between the tire and the woman's foot. Pulling a hand up to fix a loose strand of hair that was by her eye, she stopped her approach at what felt like a reasonable distance. Something she was noticing was ignored when Liam and Aloysius assumed they were alone while she was going from the library to her room once more.

"Are you alright? I noticed you were stopped in the middle of the road." A simple question as she looked them over slightly, noticing nothing else that brought any new memories to mind.

Trailing her eyes down towards the ground, she looked again at the sharp-edged cube on the road. It looked like there was another one just behind the woman's heel as well. Odd things, something unfamiliar, but that wasn't a surprise to her. Finding things familiar was the more novel thing for her.

Sakura glanced at her car and realized that she was, in fact, still partway in the road. "Ah. I thought I pulled off further. I'm alright, just having some feelings." The smile she gave, while tired, was genuine. "You came from Aloysius's house, yes? I'm not sure we've met before. I'm Sakura." The woman decidedly wasn't someone she had met before, and she didn't seem visibly similar to Aloy or his sister, so she didn't think she was a family member. Odd that Aloy hadn't mentioned her.

Following her gaze, Sakura felt her stomach drop as her eyes landed on the dice. "Oh no.....not again...." Sighing deeply, she felt the pull of old, odd magic compelling her to pick it up. As she did so, the scenery around the two women warped and faded until they were in the gameboard. And Sakura was the furthest thing humanly possible from excited. "s**t.....not this thing again."

"Ah, yes, I go there sometimes to look through his collection of books. Sometimes I tend to lose track of time while researching things. I go by Agatha." Something she noticed, which after speaking she felt more, was that the way most talked seemed truncated in ways. Something she noticed was present in most of the people who spoke around the home, aside from the one she disliked most, Aloysius.

Without noticing it, or being wholly aware, the toe of her boot touched one of the cubes, and she found herself standing not on the road but on some sort of square with Sakura nearby.

In this new space, she leaned down a bit to pluck the cube up before noticing what the other said, dropping the cube as it seemed to be problematic if she was right about the meaning behind their words.

Yet dropping it seemed to be the wrong choice of action, and she felt herself being forced ahead and through invisible wall after invisible wall until it finally ceased, and she, alongside the cube, stood in a new square.

"What is this? And what do you mean by again?" Speaking not quite with much worry yet, given that the force didn't hurt her more, so it annoyed her with its insistence on her moving.

Then there was a sound, one she could not place at all, aside from it being animalistic. A growling vibration rolled through the air, and she narrowed her eyes, looking for the source yet seeing nothing.

A dog barks, fierce and frightening. You can hear its growl and the hackles stand up on the back of your neck. You can practically feel spittle on you. It’s close. And it’s big. And it’s angry. If this beastly dog could reach you, no doubt it would try to tear you to shreds.

Sakura ran a hand over her face before pulling her pen out and transforming. If it was anything like her last run in with the damned board, she wanted her powers to keep her safe. "They call this the Gameboard. Though that makes it seem like it's fun when that couldn't possibly be further from the truth. Keep your wits about you alright? I'll help protect you as much as I'm able."

Giving the other woman a small smile, Ako rolled the dice and found herself on the same square as her. "This one is just noise. It won't harm you. Other slots can, however, so take care. It won't let us leave until we play the board to completion."

"A gameboard? I see. I will keep that in mind." Agatha's face remained as neutral as it had been since the beginning, though a sparkle of interest gleamed in her eye as she watched the woman pull out one of those pens.

So they were, in fact, a senshi as she was under Aloysius. Though she didn't see the need to power up, and only noted that this woman seemed rather trusting to do so in front of someone she had no real knowledge of.

Picking the dice up, she rolled it once more and moved ahead at a pace that left her without that force rushing her along. Each square seemed uneventful until she made it the proper distance.

Now that she knew anything could happen, she pulled something from her hair, which let her bun fall loose and let her ombre hair down. The capped fountain pen she'd used to keep it up would be good enough for the moment.

Creatures appeared this time, small airborne ones with leathery wings, and she didn't hesitate to slash out at the swarm of them with the sharp pen in hand. While a few managed to slap and scratch at her, most of them gave her enough free space to pick the dice up to roll it once more.

"I see what you mean, annoying yet possibly harmful if caught unawares."

You hear a frantic flapping above you, but that’s all the warning you get before a hoard of bats descend. They scratch and slap and screech, but you avoid getting bitten. For now. You’ve invaded their space and they seem keen to defend it. You can try to fight them, but the only way to escape them is to roll again.

Space 7:
Something is twitching and flapping above you, and while you might be minding your own business, something is a little too invested in what you’re doing. You can’t see them, but you suddenly hear shrill, high pierced noises that are disorienting and confusing. They can bring about dizziness and pain and can cause vertigo if you’re stuck in them for too long.

Ako nodded in acknowledgement, watching the woman go ahead. Under normal circumstances, she wouldn't have trusted a civilian with her identity. But if Aloysius had trusted her in allowing her into his home, that was more than enough in her book to vouch for her.

Rolling the dice for herself, she stepped forward to her own square, not dating nearly as well with her rolls. "I got stuck in this thing a few days ago. I have to say, I'm not entirely eager to deal with it again. Mendokusai..." She muttered the last word mostly to herself, sounding tired and a little bitter at the hassle of dealing with the board again. Glancing upwards at the sound in her square, Ako felt dizzy and closed her eyes, relying on sound to move if she needed to for now. Hopefully the damned creatures would stay where they were though.

"So this is not an uncommon occurrence. How unpleasant."

With another toss of the die, it let her move ahead, and for each roll before she moved, it seemed like Sakura moved less each time. Whatever mechanism this die was seemed chance-based based but that wasn't something she enjoyed exactly.

What she liked even less was the loud crack and a feeling of unsteadiness before the floor beneath her gave way. It was cold, water from what she could tell at least, but she could still stay afloat on the parts of the tile that hadn't sunk. With her hair and skirts wet, it felt like she was being weighed down by lead.

Aside from that, everything so far seemed more inconvenienced than particularly harmful, though she could see how someone surprised might have inhaled the water in a panic. While she wasn't exactly scared, something those fragments provided her context on, she knew she'd had much more vexing situations before.

"The floor gave out, but otherwise I am unharmed." Calling out with a little more volume to account for the distance, she spied the die floating in the water and started to make her way over to it.

It’s cold, and it’s ice, and a hole falls underneath you, plunging you into frigid waters. There’s enough floating ice that you should still be able to roll the dice to get out of here, but you have to go quickly–you’re soaked, in chilly water, and something just swam by your feet.

Space 10:
A swampy smell fills the air. You take a step, and you seem to sink into it. Mud creeps over your feet, and you sink rapidly. Ankle deep, knee deep. Whether or not you squirm and fight against it, you are sinking. The mud is crushing and painful, and if you sink too deep it steals the breath from your lungs. There’s nothing to grab onto; you have to roll your dice quickly before that too gets sucked into the muddy quicksand.

At the loud crack, Ako looked towards her companion with worry. Her shoulders relaxed at the reassurance however. "I'm glad you're alright. Got stuck in a square last time that essentially tried to drown me by filling my lungs with water. Nasty experience." Her nose wrinkled in displeasure at the memory and she rolled again, sighing as she felt her boot sink into muck.

"Thankfully this particular displeasure seems specific to this time of year. It only manifests around Halloween from what I understand, though certain other times of year have their own oddeties to navigate. This city is full of strange magic that seems to work of its own accord, outside of any alliance or faction I'm aware of."

Taking in the information, she noted the need to enter in those terms for periods of the year in which these things would happen. Though even with the gaps in her time and memory, she was certain these occurrences hadn't been part of her life before hand.

Finally pulling herself up and out of the water enough to roll the die, she was pleased that the floor seemed to rise back up, and she could continue on even if she was still wet from the experience.

Moving forward, she was surprised to see she couldn't move ahead any longer. The light on this final square had her squinting and turning back to face the way she'd come, where Sakura was still coming along from.

It would be rude to leave, not that she knew exactly the mechanism or process to get out of here, that seemed to be something the other knew more about. So for now, she started the slow process of wringing out her lowest layer of skirt first.

"I believe I have reached the end."

The end; once you have arrived here you are free to leave. You will see be basked in the glow of a beautiful, opalescent aura that will take you back home. If you arrived with a guest, you can leave without them or choose to stay until they make it to the end as well. When you arrive back in Destiny City, you may choose to keep the six sided die–if nothing else, it’s pretty! Though, it doesn’t seem to have any magical qualities, that might be for the best.

It feels like people are running past you, and the air fills with panic and alarm–but there’s nowhere for you to go, and the smoke is so thick. You’d better roll quickly so you can get out of here.

Ako felt relief as she heard the other woman say she reached the end. "Good, I'm glad you're at the end safe and sound. I'm about halfway there, I think." Another roll of the dice had her rolling her eyes. Smoke and something burning? That was nothing for the senshi of Firestorms.

It gave her time at least to dry off a little more. The only downside of her attire was how heavy it all was when wet, but with the bottom-most layer squeezed out, she felt a little less waterlogged.

From what she could see in the distance, nothing popped out at least, which seemed to be alright, but the luck of this gameboard seemed fickle, and she wondered if it was due to the other having been through it once before.

"With this coming to an end, you can at least retire to your home. I know I will have to dry these clothes a bit more properly when I get back to my home." Something that was supposed to be managed by Desiree before the end of the year.

Rolling again, Ako made her way to the next square and groaned as she was dunked into the icy water. Shuddering, she rubbed at her arms to warm them. "I hate this damn gameboard...." she muttered to herself. If she ever saw these damned dice again, it would be too soon.

Seeing that they made it to the square she'd been at last, she at least knew that when they returned to normal, their civilian clothes would be dry. A positive at least, but she rather enjoyed not yet having to deal with all that just yet.

"I can see you more clearly now, at least, just a bit further." And by now, she was working on wringing out her hair before wrapping it back up in a bun and fixing it in place with her capped pen once more. It wasn't perfect, but everything she'd had on her person was still accounted for, and that was something to keep in mind.
