Requiem was ready to take another turn in the dungeon dimension, but as he approached the door he saw there was someone else there....wait...maybe two someones? A someone and a something with it? Thinking he'd wait until later he spun quickly to leave...too quickly...and too wide. He encountered a door handle nose first, and yelped. It echoed down the hallway.

Honestly, how was anyone supposed to be getting anywhere in this dungeon? The doors were all so different, but twice now Ever had to search for a handle, a knob, a lever...it was absolutely maddening! With a heavy, hefty sigh, Ever left their current room of search to try a different direction, only to...be met with a yelping door?? Well, that was unusual, and after a brief moment of ponderance, Ever creaked the door open slowly, only to be met with...another phox! Their twin tails wagged happily as they fully swung the door open, nearly smacking themselves in the snoot in the process! "Ope! Oh, gosh, hello! Finally something other than a corpse!" They exclaimed, the oilslick-colored serpeno around their neck warily eying the stranger.

Covering his abused nose with a paw he didn't notice the door opening until something spoke. Requiem dropped to the ground, giving startled eyes to the.....other phox? Looking up at them his eyes got even wider, somehow. The phox was GORGEOUS! His jaw dropped open slightly staring for far longer than was polite. He was looking into eyes the blue of the sky- clear and bright, like a summers day. They had wings, and brought to mind the images of those the Humans called "Angels".....wait...they were a Cherub! With lovely white fluff giving way to rainbow hues. Their pelt was dark as the night, spattered with rainbow markings. Their tails were brilliantly fluffy, both of them. Ears white as waves capping the oceans waves. And again, their eyes...... The silence stretched on, before he swallowed hard and realized they'd spoken to him. But to save his life he couldn't remember what had been said. "Gorgeous. Requiem. Hi. Am. I." Now his eyes were dinner plates and white showed all around. He'd spoken- but not in prose! Or in order! Still on the ground he simply covered his eyes with his paws....maybe this strange dungeon would take pity on him and let the ground swallow him up!

Whoa, Ever didn't even need to ask their name. How fortunate! "Oh! Hello Gorgeous Requiem!" They all but chirped, their wings fluttering excitedly at the prospect of something other than a corpse! "Okay, so you're like, lost too?" Ever felt nervous as all heck, but managed to pull themselves together to actually ask that. Though it had only been a few hours in the strange, dangerous domain, Ever felt like they'd been trapped in it for years.... "I feel like I've been trapped in here for years! Lost all contact with society, my only companion a noodle..." "Oh pleasse..." The serpeno around their neck hisses, rolling her eyes." "Hush." Their tone wasn't harsh, merely playful as Ever booped their companion's snoot with their own before turning back to the new stranger. "So like...You're looking for stuff too? Fightin' off roaches and rats and stuff? And, y'know...." their voice lowered as they leaned in to shisper, their eyes wide as dinner plates. "The corpses?!" They looked a mix between scared and...excited? What an odd feeling, but an even odder facial expression; Their ears back, eyes wide and teeth glinting in a wide smile.

His ears twitched as the other phox spoke, but aside from that he stayed absolutely still. First because he was hoping desperately that he had not just made *that much* of a fool of himself. Then it was to hear their voice. Hearing them call him "Gorgeous Requiem" they winced before returning to stillness. But the word "corpses" finally penetrated his embarassment-hazed brain. He looked up at the other phox, peeking between his paws.
The vision he saw was confusing to say the least. The phox seemed excited about the corpses....or, possibly canabalistic?
Swallowing hard he had absolutely no intention of speaking. Then he heard himself say in an oddly high pitched voice "Are you going to eat me?"
Again, it wasn't poetry....he just spoke. His eyes went wide, the whites showing all the way around. His breath came in short little pants as he stared up at the other phox. Who was somehow no less gorgeous. It was an odd way to go, but at least it wasn't as bad as it could've been. Death was quite lovely.

"Huh?!" Ever's ears swiveled in confusion, their eyes going wide and very much looking like they had just been told they were going to be arrested or something. "Eat you?!" They whisper-screeched, both tailes puffed up to nearly twice the normal size. "No, no, no--" "Of courssse not." The serpent around their neck hissed a chuckle. "You're much too ssstringy and probably won't tassste very good." "Oh, hush, Glimmer!" Ever snapped at the serpeno, shaking their head frantically. "No, no, I mean- I think you- I mean the loot that the corpses can have! You know, like shiny gold coins and such...It's not like I- Oh, dear..." Finally their fur settled and they drooped considerably. "Oh, dear, I really did give you the wrong impression, didn't I?" They whispered once more.

Watching the other phox closely he noted their confusion as expressions chased across their features. The noise they emitted brought his ears flat, paws covering them. 'Was Death a Banshee?!?' they wondered, squeezing their eyes closed against the noise- and against all sense.
After the *thing* spoke Req treated it to a fierce glower. How was he to know what phox tasted like?!? HE wasn't the cannibal! But, apparently the serpent didn't know what phox tasted like, which was heartening.
Now that the noise had stopped he looked back into the sweet face of Death. Their words slowly dawned on him and comprehension crossed his face. The past few moments played back through his mind, agonizingly slow. It all made sense now. And then Death wilted, like a flower thirsting for water. He panicked again, fearing he'd hurt the Lady's feelings with his fear.
He quickly got to his feet, and swept a low bow. Looking up at her from the depth of his bow he quoted
"Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, Who is already sick and pale with grief That thou, her maid, art far more fair than she. Be not her maid since she is envious. Her vestal livery is but sick and green, And none but fools do wear it. Cast it off. It is my lady. ..."
He lowered his gaze and dropped his head again. "Greetings, Lady Death. Forgive my blunder. I fear this hellish trap of a dungeon has gotten the better of me, and my blood ran cold with fear and addled my wits." He rose to look a her again. "Regretfully, I've found nothing of consequence here, no coins or treasures. Though I have found a broken lantern that you could use to.... contain... your erstwhile familiar in should you wish." He grinned at the *thing*.
"Aside from the corpses themselves, for I've found two, both killed in a like manner- I did not throughly search the bodies out of respect for the dead... ('and what lunch I have left' he thought to himself)... But I did come here seeking adventure- and apparently that I have found in over abundance! However, as time grows short- it may be best to part ways. I would offer to accompany you, however I have the sense you are quite capable of seeing to your own protection, Lady Death. Perhaps I may call on you another time, once this idling adventure has passed?" He gave what he hopped was a winsome smile. He really did want to get to know this phox better. But it was practically the 11th hour, and the bell was to toll any moment.

Ever...wasn't quite sure of what to make of such flowery words, and especially not when called? Lady? Death? Huh? "Uh, well..." Ever started, but couldn't quite think fast enough to respond in a timely manner. Instead, they went ahead and shrugged, heading over to the nearest door with purpose. "Yeah, we can catch up once we're outta here! The Cafe is open all the time, and I like to bounce between domains!" Ever grinned, flicking their twin tails. "So I'll see ya later then!"
