Candy Casualty (6) : Another candy store is giving free promotional treats to try and attract new customers. These pop up every year, for better or worse, and if you're brave enough to try this one, you'll sample one of the best candies you’ve ever had. It's delicious–unlike anything you've ever had, and a flavor you'll never forget. Only, within twenty four hours of eating your first piece, you begin to have extreme tooth pain that can last for up to a whole day. It feels like a cavity, but a trip to the dentist reveals nothing strange. It just hurts. While the pain eventually fades, you’ll remember it the next time you reach for some sugar. Is your drive for Halloween Candy dented or are you still gearing up for more?Davie Jaimeson was riding home on his bicycle from college, on main street, when he saw it. A honey sweets shop -a pop up store. He groaned. Not another one... yep it was that time of year again - Halloween and Christmas. He shook his head - he saw people going in and ordering... He sighed. People never learned. Every year at this time pop-up food store would ... pop-up, sell, and by the time that the customers received the bad end of magic gone bad - they seemed to pop-out of existence. He sighed, and swore under his breath - "Cauldron." He sighed once more and started pedaling again, then stopped. Didn't he know that high-schooler from somewhere? And she was going in ...

Kianna slowed to a stop just outside the shop, rain still clinging to her hair from earlier. She tilted her head, squinting at the pastel-colored sign that screamed “Honey Sweets!” The smell alone made her stomach growl — sweet, warm, and way too tempting for someone who’d skipped breakfast after a morning run.
She exhaled, crossing her arms as she studied the place. “Guess it wouldn’t hurt to try one,” she muttered, mostly to herself. The sound of laughter and the jingle of the doorbell whenever someone went in was weirdly inviting — almost too inviting.
When she pushed the door open, the wave of sugary air nearly knocked her back. The shop was chaos — bright colors, glittering jars filled with neon candies, and way too many people crammed into one space. Every shelf looked like it had been designed by someone on a serious sugar high.
Her sneakers squeaked on the tile as she stepped further inside, brushing a few stray droplets of rain from her jacket. Her sharp eyes scanned the displays — chocolate-covered everything, rainbow lollipops the size of her hand, and a huge sign that read “Try a Free Sample! A Sweet You’ll Never Forget!”
“Sounds like a challenge,” she said under her breath, her competitive grin forming before she even realized it. Kianna stepped up to the counter, hands on her hips, sizing up the candy like it was an opponent she was about to take down. In that moment, nothing else in the shop existed — not the people laughing behind her, not the chatter or the music. All that mattered was the challenge in front of her, and she wasn’t about to back down.

Davie shook his head. That was definitely one of the Bones kids' friend, Kianna wasn't it? He sighed. There was nothing for it. The Bones kids, and his own sister would never forgive him if he let her do this. He got off his bike, letting it fall where it was, and not bothering to lock it up. He walked as quickly as he dared in, and tapped on her shoulder... all the while being bombarded by Candy Chaos.

Kianna nearly jumped when someone tapped her shoulder, spinning around so fast her hair brushed her face. Her eyes flicked up to the stranger behind her — tall, serious, rain-soaked — definitely not someone from the candy shop.
“Uh… hi?” she said slowly, brows knitting together. “Can I help you, or are you just here to scare people away from free samples?”
There was a hint of a grin at the corner of her mouth, though — more amused than annoyed. Her hand lingered near the sample tray behind her, fingers twitching like she was daring him to say no.
“I’ve been standing here ready up to try one of these,” she added, nodding toward the glittery sign promising A Sweet You’ll Never Forget. “Not really my thing to back down from a challenge.”
She tilted her head, sizing him up. “So what’s the deal? You look like you just ran in here to stop me from doing something stupid.”
Then, smirking a little: “You know something I don’t, or are you just the self-appointed candy police?”
She didn’t really think those kinds of people existed — but then again, this was Destiny City, where everything and anything seemed possible. Just like her being able to reach for that candy and eat it any moment she wanted to.
Still, even as she stood there talking, she could feel it — the pull of the candy. Sweet, insistent, almost alive. What was going on…?

"You a friend of Etamin?" Davie didn't wait for a answer. "I am as well. And as a friend, I am warning you of danger. How long have you lived in Destiny City? Around the holidays, nasty things happen here, and pop-up stores like these are among the simplest that happen each. You've been warned." Not mentioning that he was badly pulled in by the candy himself. Before he could do anything rash - he turned and walked away, disappearing in the crowd.

Kianna blinked, startled by the mention of Etamin. “Wait—Etamin?” she called after him, but he was already gone, swallowed by the crowd before she could get another word out.
Her brow furrowed. “Weird… guess more people know him than I thought. I'll have to ask him about him later on.” There was something about the stranger — interesting, but unsettling. And who just disappears like that after giving a dark warning?
She glanced back at the glittering tray of candies, the sweetness still calling to her like a whisper she couldn’t quite ignore. But the stranger’s warning lingered, curling uneasily in her chest.
With one last look, she turned and stepped out into the cool air — the pull fading, but not gone. Even as she walked down the street, the scent and shimmer of that candy clung to her thoughts, sweet and heavy, refusing to let go.

Davie got on his bicycle and rode off as fast as he could pedal. Warning the girl had come at a price - he was now being pulled by the magic. It was all he could do not to just turn around on his bike, go back and get a candy himself, however experience had taught him that the holidays were not the time to indulge after all. He shivered. When he got home, he called Drew and let him know about the girl. Drew thanked him and said he'd follow up with her and just let her know about the dangers. Then he asked how he was doing, after all, at some point in the last few years, they discovered that they were related, cousins of cousins or something.

By the time Kianna made it home, the whole thing felt like some weird fever dream. A random guy, a cryptic warning, and a candy shop that looked like it had been pulled straight from a fairy tale.
She dropped her bag by the door and shook her head, muttering, “What a weird experience…”
Still, as she kicked off her shoes and tried to focus on anything else, that scent — warm, honey-sweet — lingered in the back of her mind.
Yeah. Weird… but for some reason, she couldn’t stop thinking about it.
