Quote:
Silken Snare (12) : Destiny City has an extensive history with problematic arachnids, and 2025 is not the year to shake that up. Large, sticky webs have appeared all over the city. Maybe it is a silly prank like the papers say, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it’s all fun and games when you’re stuck to the near-invisible net strung low to the ground or tucked away along alleys or pathways. They can trap anyone who even just brushes against them. It’s possible to be stuck in one for hours. The more you struggle, the more the threads tighten, clinging like a cocoon and it feels like being swallowed whole. If you listen carefully while caught, you might hear something moving above you. You might even feel something heavy dip onto the web next to you, chattering ominously. You never see it, but that in itself is a mercy. Something will always chase it away. Eventually, the strings will lose elasticity and you may be able to free yourself if someone isn’t able to rescue you–they just need to make sure they don’t get trapped, too. The threads can leave behind deep lines and bruises, so be happy that’s the worst you walked away with.

Arseno poked at one of the webs with his pick, attempting to see if there was anything in them. Nothing. Every year these spiders would come around and it seemed they did something new every time.

So Arseno had taken it upon himself to see what was happening with them this time. He attempted to move his weapon away from the web but the web appeared to have a tight grip and the force of it being pulled back unexpectedly caused him to drop it. "Sticky webs then?" He wasn't sure, but it seemed like he wouldn't be pulling his weapon out by himself.

He dismissed it for the moment and felt the aura of another Agent nearby. Certainly one he didn't recognize but that could be said of most agents due to him not having attempted to make any connections other than a few. He looked around to see where the aura was coming from, and if it was someone just out for draining or checking on the spiders as well.

Every year, whenever he read about the weirdly strong web involved in some prankster's version of Halloween hijinks (or at least, that was according to the papers), Staurolite found himself more and more convinced that Spider-Man could very well exist somewhere in the universe. Maybe not as he does in the comics, but some magical version tied to Order or Chaos or some other entity that dictated who was bestowed what power.

"Clearly not being too responsible with their power, this one," the agent said with a little shake of his head. He was following a trail of the webbing and doing his best to free who or what he could along the way. So far it had only been, to his relief, small animals and the like. Eventually he caught on to another agent's signature and wondered...

He followed the trail straight to them, though it didn't seem like they were caught at all.

"Oh, thank goodness," he said as he moved forward, bowing his head politely to the General. "Thought I might have found the first unlucky soul to get caught in one of these things."

Arsenopyrite nodded to the Agent as he bowed his head. "These seem to be even worse this year." He replied. "Luckily it was only my weapon that I tested on these, but compared to other years the webs this time appear to be tougher." He said the "webs" this time because it was usually the spiders themselves that were the problem. "What's your name Captain? I don't believe we've met before." Or if they had they probably hadn't talked and it had been in one of the many Negaverse meetings that they had.

"Staurolite, sir," came a quick, very practiced sounding reply. Even still, his demeanor was equal parts friendly and respectful. And he was smiling now that he was sure that no one was stuck in the web.

"And I noticed. I usually avoid them, but this year I thought I might try to be a little helpful. Help some unfortunate souls, maybe grab a bit of energy while I do it." He smiled at that, and shrugged slightly. "Hopefully avoid the spiders while I do. Seemed like a win-win sort of idea."

"It was a good idea. Unfortunately I think we both ended up in the wrong area for any energy draining. Though if you do see a very large spider behind me, please let me know. I've seen ones bigger than my hand around here before and I would rather not let them escape." He wasn't sure if the spiders were only a part of the "magic" of the season or if they would stick around for a while, but he would eradicate all of them. They were at the very least an invasive species.

"How experienced are you with the oddities around this time of year? I suspect you've gone though all of... this before at the very least. Ah." He regained his focus. If he was going to start learning and making a point about connecting with other Agents, then he needed to start doing it. "I'm a part of General Benitoite's team. I'm assuming you're on a team as well?"

"General Chalcanthite's, sir," came his reply, and he wore a smile while he said it. He liked to think he was on good terms with his general, though it was honestly a little bit hard to say. At the least, he'd yet to be reprimanded for anything he'd done so far, so...probably? Maybe.

He hoped.

Not that he needed to share any of this with his present company, so he didn't.

"And if I see a giant spider behind you, I'll definitely let you know. I might scream first, though." He was still smiling, clearly half-joking, as he said this. "I hope that's alright. As far as my experience with oddities...I mean, I guess I'm used to them enough that I expect them to happen every year." He looked thoughtful for a second, crossing his arms before bringing a hand to his chin as he considered.

"As in...I might be more concerned if nothing happened when something usually does, if that makes sense?"
