Often in parks or around gardens, they grant a peaceful, countryside flair to the otherwise busy metropolis. Most days, they blend into the background. Not today. Maybe you heard a powerful, fierce splash, like something smacking violently against the water, or maybe it was the unnerving croak that echoed from deep below, but something has clearly gotten trapped in the well. Sometimes, there’s the distinct sound of something clawing, scratching, climbing–desperate to get out. The noise its making is deep enough to vibrate through the ground. If you go to investigate, you’ll see nothing but a pair of golden, snakelike eyes staring back up at you. Whatever it is, its body is completely submerged under the water, but just looking into its eyes is enough to petrify someone. There’s something hypnotic about it, something that seems like it’s drawing you into the well. And why shouldn’t you climb in? What’s stopping you? Danger is forgotten; the creature in the well has made a target of you. Hopefully you have someone to pull you out of the trance–or, maybe if you’re strong enough, you can do it yourself. If you lose the battle with the creature, you will fall unconscious just as you hit the water in the well; you will feel the sensation of something coiling around you, crushing you, and then–blackness. You will wake up in a hospital with a day lost and no memory of what happened in the well, or how you were pulled out. You only have bumps and bruises, and when you close your eyes you’re haunted by the chilling golden eyes in the well. If you return to it, you’ll find nothing but a strange, croaking echo. How long had it been since he powered up? He couldn't even tell. It had been too long for him to remember the exact day. He had wanted to embrace being a full knight more, but his work had gotten in the way and it was only now that he managed to find himself patrolling again, this time near one of the more out-of-the-way wells that Destiny City wanted to use as tourist traps. He had heard rumors that there was something appearing in the wells and wanted to make sure it wasn't some sort of water Youma that could live in them. For now it was out of his sight as he was making sure that he couldn't feel any chaos in the area. He was beginning to take another look around the area, making sure to feel out chaos auras specifically, but then he heard what sounded like a large splash and wandered over to the well. He couldn't have missed someone could he? Perhaps a civilian that decided throwing a rock down the well was a good idea? Probably not... but he kept feeling for anything unusual anyway, making his way towards the well in case something happened to it.

Howick hadn’t meant to wander this far tonight, but the sound of a splash drew her to the old stone well. Another knight was already there, his presence grounding her—at least until she looked down. Two golden eyes stared up from the dark water, unblinking, impossible to look away from. Her body tilted forward before she even realized it, breath caught in her throat. A faint glow pulsed from the broken hourglass at her chest, snapping her back just enough to stumble a step away. “There’s something in there,” she whispered, voice thin. “It tried to pull me in.” Another croak shook the ground beneath them, and claws scraped stone from somewhere deep below.

He saw the Page when he got close enough, and was surprised he hasn't felt her aura. Was it because he was concentrating too much on finding different ones? Probably. Most likely he had felt it but since it wasn't what he was looking for, it hadn't drawn his attention. He raised an eyebrow. "Something in there?" He walked over to her. "Did it try to grab you?" He couldn't help but flinch in surprise as another croak and scraping could be heard. "There's still no Youma aura coming from it..." He muttered to himself. Turning to the Page he asked, "Are you okay?" He wanted to look in the well too, but his concern was with the Page first.

Howick steadied herself, the echo of that croak still buzzing in her chest. She shook her head quickly. “I’m okay,” she said, though her voice was low. “It didn’t grab me—just… looked at me. I couldn’t move.” Her gaze flicked toward the well again, uneasy. “Whatever it is, it’s hiding its aura on purpose.”

Sumner frowned at the thought. "If it's able to lure one in just by looking at it, maybe we should just stay away from it, though I'm glad to know something that it does." He sighed. "I'm glad you're okay. I... haven't seen you before." He hadn't seen a lot of Knights before. But she appeared to be a Page, which meant she was most likely newere to all of this. "I'm Sumner. I usually patrol around here, and other bodies of water."

Howick offered a small, grateful smile, the tension in her shoulders easing just a little. “Thanks. I think staying back is smart,” she agreed, still keeping one wary eye on the well. When he introduced himself, she nodded. “I’m Howick, Page of the Moon,” she said softly. “It’s nice to meet you—even if the timing’s a little cursed.” She glanced toward the dark water again. “Do you think it’s trapped down there?” she asked quietly. “Or waiting for someone to pull it out?” Her hand hovered near her pendant, the faint glow within its cracked glass flickering like it sensed danger too.

He couldn't help but chuckle. "Unfortunately, those are the times when I meet Order the most." It couldn't be helped, large gatherings usually involved at least one new person every time and if he actually kept in touch with any of them he might be better at remembering who he had conversed with once before. He thought about her question for a moment and shook his head. "Just from what it did to you, I think it's in there trying to lure anyone who might be unfortunate to look at it too long. And I've heard reports of the same thing happening to other wells in the city. But I can't say that's the case for sure. "I think it would be best to stay away from it and help anyone who gets too close to it. I can't say it's a Youma for sure, but I do wish there was an explanation for all of these strange events that keep happening with no known cause behind them." He had been at this longer than he thought if he was already tired of all of these non-chaos shenanigans.

Howick nodded slowly, her expression thoughtful. “So it’s not just this one,” she murmured. The idea of other wells harboring the same presence made her stomach tighten. “I agree—we shouldn’t risk another look. If it’s pulling people in, someone has to keep watch nearby.” She glanced back at him, offering a faint, almost wry smile. “Seems like Destiny City never runs out of new mysteries to throw at us.” Her gaze flicked to the well once more. “Let’s mark this one. If it’s still active tomorrow night, maybe we can call in help.”

Sumner was surprised, he hadn't even thought of that. "That is a great idea, I'm glad you thought of it." It stung a little that he didn't even think to do it behind all of his experience co far. It probably stemmed from his lack of going around and actually creating relationships, whatever they may be, with other Knights and Senshi to think of something that would help them, rather than him just remembering it by himself. Of course he would remember it and he had thought about patrolling the well until the noises went away, but he couldn't be there 24/7. "What will you be marking it with?"

Howick shook her head lightly. “Nothing magical, not yet,” she admitted. “But I can mark it the old-fashioned way.” She knelt near the stones, pulling a small piece of chalk from one of her belt pouches. With careful strokes, she drew a simple crescent moon on the rim of the well—faint enough that a civilian wouldn’t notice, but clear enough for another Knight or Senshi to recognize. “There,” she said, standing again. “If anyone from Order passes by, they’ll know to be cautious. It’s not much, but it’s something until we can get a proper look tomorrow.”

"You really are prepared." He said softly as she marked the well. "Thank you. I know I'm a Knight, but sometimes I don't even think of these things. Just means I have more to improve on." And he would have to remember to improve upon it as well. "Sounds like we are good for tonight then." And it was time for him to leave as well. He wasn't going to stay much longer after the last lap around the well he had done and it seemed that they had done all that they could for now. "It's time for me to turn in, but I can send you a message tomorrow if you want to take a look at it? My ring is updated to that point at least." He had gotten the basic upgrade of being able to send messages to both Knights and Senshi alike at least. Anything else he hadn't yet done.

Howick smiled faintly, dusting the chalk from her fingers. “We’re all still learning,” she said, her tone warm. “Besides, it’s easy to overlook things when the world keeps throwing new surprises at us.” At his offer, she brightened a little and nodded. “I’d like that. Thank you, Sumner. I’ll keep an eye out, too—just in case it stirs again.” After a brief pause, she added, “Actually… do you mind if I get your number? Just so I can reach out if something changes before tomorrow.” She glanced once more at the well, then back to him with a small smile. “Get some rest. You’ve earned it. Her words helped ease his... unease a bit, though it did make him think about it and well, what else he could do. He nodded at her. "Of course. Should be keeping in contact with other Knights more than I do right now. This will be a first step in that direction." They exchanged numbers and both of them were off. "You too!" He said as he waved back, letting out a sigh. He needed to visit his Wonder again. Somewhere alone and peaceful so he could think about things. xdeathxbyxlovex end post from me, thank you for the rp!
