Takes place after chitchats and lightning bugs

Quote:
It had been remarkably good of Solaris, Jihlava thought, to wait with her until her Mauvian friend arrived. She’d remained long enough to tender introductions and quietly stepped back to allow Realta to take charge.

For Jihlava’s part, this was the first Mauvian she’d seen in who knew how long and she wanted to relish the experience. She also wanted to make sure that she was able to answer questions and present clear and logical requests. She knew of three things she needed: a phone, something to let her go out amongst the humans and a way to turn the wealth she’d brought with her into something more useful than gold in a sack. They were all things that should be (and at least in the case of the first two, were) well within the purview of one of the cats. Everything else was, for the moment, secondary to those needs.

Sitting quietly, Jihlava watched the Mauvian curiously, head tilting this way and that, as if she wanted to view Realta from as many viewpoints as possible. Finally, she hooted very softly, as if satisfied with what she saw.

“Hello, Realta,” she said softly. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Quote:
Solaris herself had lingered for a time, nibbling chips and sipping her water. Now and then she'd peek at her phone for any other texts beyond the confirmation and then subsequent on my way texts from Realta. Her own thoughts were swirling--mainly about other inhuman senshi. Those she knew, most she'd only seen in passing, and the likelihood there were more than even that. Afterall, Alastor looked human, and without her familiarity with Devyn, she'd have very likely assumed the man was another Earth-born senshi. How many other senshi were similar in their peoples' appearances?

It bothered her to consider she wasn't familiar with more senshi not born on Earth. Something she'd need to amend, somehow. Or at least improve her awareness of them if able. How many still held to old religions or political beliefs? How many carried anger, hate, fear, any and all of it, against time and people for whatever they'd endured from Chaos?

They weren't happy thoughts, but she didn't mind letting herself dwell on them for a while, breaking to make the appropriate introductions between the Mauvian and Jihlava when the former trotted over to them. From there, Solaris took her leave for the moment, figuring the conversation was probably more suited to a private consultation than a group meeting.

So she grinned to Jihlava and waved quick as she grabbed up her waterbottle. "I won't be too far off, Realta can get me if needed. If not, she'll give you my number regardless, so feel free to reach out whenever. I'm glad we ran into each other."

With that, she headed off through the hedgemaze, and once beyond it, powered down, her energy signature vanishing from the space as Kyrie sipped her water and went to find a bench to perch on for a bit.

Realta herself remained with Jihlava at the picnic table, easily leaping up to sit on the table proper and observe the alien senshi with keen interest. She'd given her thanks to Solaris for the introductions, and a promise to contact her after with any necessary updates, before the young woman took her leave. The lilac feline immediately refocused on the senshi, pearlescent eyes flicking about the other's uniform, facial features, feathers… she was facinated, really. The variety of life never ceased to amaze her.

Offering a polite incline of her head, Realta met the personal introduction with a smile. "The pleasure is mine, Jihlava. Thank you for your patience for me to arrive here. Now, Solaris's messages said you're a relatively new arrival to this planet, is that accurate? She also mentioned you hadn't had a chance to speak to one of my fellow Mauvians in the city concerning devices, glamor, and all the other bits and bobs for living on Earth as a local. Do you have any shelter currently?"

Her tone was kept gentle and warm, gaze continuously moving about the other's face and form as she made her queries. An attempt on her part to try and gauge body language, and to begin to learn any ticks or tendencies. Normal things to Realta. In her mind, learning such things for each individual she assisted only increased her ability to best help them. Be it how she worded her thoughts or information, or even just figuring out when was a better time to merely be a warm, silent presence with them.

Quote:
Well! Jihlava had hoped that Realta would be a down to business sort and it seemed that her wish had come true. The mauvian wasn’t rude or short by any means, but neither was she wasting time dithering and trying to make mindless chit chat.

The senshi could appreciate that. So, so much.

Relaxing slightly, she studied the Mauvian just as closely. She’d heard of them, of course. Who hadn’t? And she’d seen them when they would visit the Library. But she’d never really gotten to meet one and actually talk to them. Her parents had always handled that side of things. So, this would be educational and helpful. She felt the feathers at her neck relax and puff up slightly as she nodded eagerly.

“I arrived with the meteor shower several days ago and I’ve been staying in a little off the path grotto here in the park since. To be honest, I didn’t even know that there were Mauvians on this planet. I’m still not sure why this planet, in general, seems to have attracted so many. Solaris said there were several like she and I. Exiles. Though she didn’t use that word exactly,” for a moment, she looked pensive, worrying that she might have put too much of her own feelings into her summarization. Though, she’d stand by her choice of words. They were exiles. For now at least.

“I would be extremely grateful if you could explain these devices and glamours. Even more grateful if you can advise on where I can go regarding converting this,” she hefted her bag onto the table and let it spill open, revealing the glint and glimmer of gold and gems, “into something a bit more usable and less flashy. Local currency would solve much of the shelter problem, would it not?”

The more she thought about having an actual place to go to that would be hers… To be able to feel safe and clean and not have to worry about if the earthlings saw her as she truly was… Oh, she’d do just about anything the mauvian asked of her!

Quote:
Realta nodded slightly as she listened, taking mental notes of the timeline Jihlava had been experiencing. She kept her expressions more neutral, though she gave a soft sigh and slow bob of her head in understanding at the options for shelter…. and the unawareness of Mauvians.

She did flick her ears back slightly to hear the other call herself--and other off-world arrivals--an exiles. "I tend to choose the word 'survivors,' personally, but you'll also hear the phrase 'deep space Senshi' from some folks to denote you and those like you." A concern tucked away amongst information, Realta moved onward to the general topic of Mauviand as an easy segway into the more important bits. "We Mauvians don't exactly advertise ourselves," she hummed, tail swaying slightly. Still, she was somewhat surprised no one had chanced upon her. But… the city was vast, and her energy signature was no different from any other first rank senshi.

"I can create a device for you that can offer you a glamor to appear human while not powered up--you could go around as a civilian without it, just as your normal non-human self… but there are a lot of dangers in this. You could be opening yourself up for attacks, or even endangering others around you if someone might think they're also aliens or senshi. For the device, would you prefer a piece of jewelry, or some such? Something you can keep on yourself easily."

Pausing, the feline stood and focused her magic, iridescent lights swirling about her softly before she leapt backwards in a quick circular flip, forcing the magic to condense into a solid shape. A senshi phone formed and settled softly on the table, touch screen clean and bright as the device started up with all the necessary apps installed. "This is yours," she said, sitting down once more and lightly nudging the phone to the woman with her paw. "There are a number of useful features available with it, but two main uses are to contact other senshi or knights you register--" Realta showed her the process quickly by entering her own information. "And… traveling back to your homeworld, when you feel ready," she finished gently, motioning to the Home button but not pressing it.

"As for your collection of shinies… goodness! You make me think of dragons and their hoards," she laughed in gentle mirth, but nodding nonetheless. "Yes, I can get this converted into the currency of this country we're in, dollar bills. I can set up a bank account for you, if you'd like, to keep the majority of your funding tucked away and available for access when you need. Carrying too much cash at once can be a risk at times.

And for shelter--yes, you can certainly use your funding to look into renting or purchasing a home, depending on your preferences and how much the conversion goes for. I would advise that you stay in an apartment for a few days or a week or so till you get more acclimated. I can easily help fund that for you, or I know an Earthling senshi who can provide either a room in her home. She's one of mine, Metis. She and I assisted Solaris when she first arrived similarly, so it wouldn't be trouble to do so again." Even though the Eternal wasn't present for it, Realta had no qualms offering up space in the condo. She doubted Lilith would actually ever decline such a thing.

Quote:
Making a note of the commonly used term, and personally finding it on the slightly long winded side, Jihlava nodded and found herself chuckling.

“I don’t suppose any of the terms are mutually exclusive. There have been many in the past who had to leave home until circumstances made it safe to go back, have there not? An exile need not always wander.”

She listened as Realta explained what she could do and arched an eyebrow at the idea of simply wandering around as she was. She had little desire to advertise that she wasn’t even from this planet. Especially since her own observations had led her to conclude that Earth was not quite so varied as it might have been in the past. No, she would happily take whatever guise Realta could provide.

“I believe I would prefer to hide my true features,” she said slowly. “I imagine it would be quite difficult to learn if I was forced into hiding or targeted for being so obviously different. And it would shame me to my core to bring harm to an innocent that happened to be in my proximity. No, I will happily take whatever device you can create.”

Mauvians really were a wonder, she thought as she considered the best form for her own device. Something small that she could keep close, huh? Well, she did enjoy jewelry and an extra piece wouldn’t interfere with anything. Bright reddish-pink eyes fell on her hands and she studied them for a moment. A ring would work well enough, she thought. Rings were innocuous and unlikely to draw attention. And while she did enjoy basking in attention and admiration, she also wanted to keep her feathers firmly attached to her body.

“Would a small ring be possible? But nothing too gaudy. Something I could wear on my thumb or middle finger? And silver. I do like how silver glows under moonlight…”

She was distracted from the topic when Realta chose that moment to leap and twirl, suddenly producing a small device, similar to the one Solaris had shown her. Reaching out, she took the phone, nodding solemnly as the Mauvian explained some of the functions. She did feel her throat close up for a moment when told that she could use this phone to return home. She pushed the feeling away, though. For the moment, she couldn’t let herself think too much about home. It was important that she ingrain herself with Earth culture and get stronger. For now, home would have to wait.

“Thank you, Realta,” she murmured, voice thick. “I can’t express how much I appreciate everything!”

She was nudged away from the edge of tears by the Mauvian’s comparison of her to a dragon. Laughing weakly, she shrugged a little. “I suppose it is a bit hoard-ish. I was just grabbing things as I ran…”

Jihlava paused, suddenly aware of just how tired she was after nights of sleeping outdoors, meeting Almadel, then fighting a giant chicken and having an emotional breakdown on top of that. She desperately wanted to sleep somewhere safe and simply rest.

“If it would not be imposing too much upon you and your friend, I think I would prefer to stay with someone who understands. At least for a few days. Then we could figure out my collection and I can separate out the sentimental trinkets before letting you convert it. I suspect that the amount this translates to will be substantial, but it won’t do me much good until I understand things here a bit more. Solaris had mentioned a library here and I know it can’t be as extensive as the Library at home, but I simply must learn to understand the language and customs of this place. But later, yes?”

Honestly, the thought of staying with the Mauvian and an Earth senshi appealed to her. They would be people who understood and she’d certainly be safe enough with them! She would have to think of a nice way to thank them. And Solaris.

Quote:
"That's true--exiles as a term can carry a heavy burden, but you're correct in the accuracy here." Still, she certainly hoped no arrival on Earth felt they could never return to their worlds even if they wanted to. But each circumstance was different, required different considerations, and she had to incline her head in acknowledgement of this.

Given the preferences, Realta grinned, magic swirling about her again before she was able to condense the magic into a smaller, solid shape--this time with her front paws. She found larger motions more efficient for focusing her magic on more complex devices, but for a glamor ring? The thin silver band glittered in the artificial light above them, a small pattern of embossed feathers encircling it. She nudged it towards Jihlava as her ear flicked. "Is this alright? I can make it a plain, solid silver ring if preferred." Realta herself adored more intricate designs, but this ring was not for her. Her tendencies in creations could be easily overridden by the owner's preferences.

The gratitude was not ignored, but the feline could only smile and incline her head slightly in returned thanks. "I'm glad I can be of assistance. Different guides and guardians work for different people, so I'm glad to know I can be of help for you." Exiles. Grabbed as she ran. Realta didn't know the story behind Jihlava's departure, or what she'd experienced, but even her limited experiences with off-world senshi certainly left her concerned and gentle in how she tried to approach things. She couldn't fathom the extent of what they'd experienced.

So the lilac Savannah smiled, tail flicking in general ease. "Oh it won't be a bother at all. The guest room is kept ready just in case it's ever needed, and there's no better use for it than times like this. And as you said, it'll give you the time to help adjust to things and talk with those who at least can understand the mix of lives. I'll get you set up with some English language materials as well, and the library system. You don't need to rush it all in a week, but I'll certainly do all I can to help you access everything you need." She already knew a handful of useful programs from assisting Kyrie before, videos and such to help build the basics of the language and growing from there. Though as she watched Jihlava… she couldn't help but smile still. She had a sense the woman might devour any bit of information she could get her hands on in rapid succession.

"Oh--though I should say… are you aware of dogs? Canines? Metis has one that lives with her, so I just want to be sure you know beforehand in case that might be a problem. She's a friendly one, bit bigger than I am, but very well trained." Realta paused to hold her paw up about where the top of the golden retriever's shoulders were, keeping the fact she was a seeing-eye dog to the vest for the moment--an age-old precaution while people were in powered identities.

"Do you have any other questions for the moment, concerns, anything you need..?" She went over a mental checklist as it was…

Quote:
Watching in quiet fascination as Realta worked, Jihlava smiled in appreciation. The Mauvian made what she was doing look so easy. Maybe it was. But the end result was quite lovely and she was more than happy to pop it onto her finger.

“Oh no, it’s fine as is! Much nicer than anything I had in mind. Do I,” she paused. “Do I need to do anything to make it work? Or is it automatic? Will I be able to see the disguise too?”

Oh, she was rapidly approaching the threshold of what her brain could safely process before she began to cry again. And now that she had the hope of a nice place to rest and adjust, she could hardly wait to get there. She would go through any amount of study if it meant a chance to sleep peacefully.

“We can go tonight, yes? It is not too short a notice for your senshi friend? But… canines? We did not have such things on my world. Or if we did, we did not call them by that name. I’m assuming this is a pet?”

Jihlava couldn’t see how this canine could be anything other than a pet based on how Realta spoke of it. And if the Mauvian said the… dog? Was well behaved, then she needn't worry about it.

“I’m sure I won’t be bothered by a… a dog if she is as behaved as you say. As far as concerns of the moment, will this place we’re going, ahh. Will I be able to clean up? Rough camping and feathers are not a good combination. I am very itchy. Will Solaris come with us?”

Quote:
Realta tilted her head slightly, ears flicking this way and that as she considered. "Before I say anything, please let me know if at any point my descriptions are ever confusing or feel incomplete to you. Especially concerning magic. The glamor is something you need to activate and deactivate yourself. I believe one way to describe it would be akin to when you summon your henshin pen from subspace while you're in your senshi state, it's just a… push, or a pull, and it'll move into place." Her tail swayed lightly, unsure if she was making much sense. "You'll absolutely be able to see it. I'll admit I'm a tad curious to hear your thoughts when you look into a mirror with it activated."

The lack of corresponding creature for a dog didn't surprise her, and she smiled as she nodded her head somewhat. "A pet, yes, a furry four-legged companion. Larger than a cat like myself. Or at least this one is. There are many, many types of dogs on Earth, but we can save that lesson for another time." Both out of convenience for the time… and so Realta could make sure they had a computer to show the new arrival images. "You'll have access to a bathroom, where you'll be able to wash up, and we can get you some temporary clothing till we can get you more permanent articles." Of course, she gave a somewhat critical eye to the senshi--she was tall, far taller than Solaris or Metis. But given her shape, she felt confident Lilith's longer skirts and trousers would work well enough for the time being.

The Mauvian stood then, stretching somewhat with a sharp arch of her back before she settled back. "The room's kept ready for a reason, I'll send her a message shortly to let her know we're incoming. As for Solaris…" She glanced off in the direction the senshi had wandered, nose twitching lightly. "We can go grab her. Would you like to try your glamor first?"

Quote:
Soaking in every word, Jihlava nodded. The ring sounded easy enough to work. Though she had to smile at Realta. Right now, her only confusions were due to purely Earth things. Well, and why she couldn't access her strongest magics, but those were all problems for another day! Right now, she only had to focus on learning as much as she could and quickly. So, rather than voice this, she simply nodded and said simply, “I promise.”

From that point, she was nearly lost to the idea of being clean. She wasn’t even worried about clothing. Surely there were people somewhere whose job was to bring one their clothing? That was the least of her worries. Ah, but the explanations about dogs was interesting though. They sounded quite varied and that was something that she made a mental note to ask more about later.

Much later. For now…

“I would much appreciate the sending of such a message. I do not want to importune anyone if I can help it. And we should find Solaris. I owe her, and you, a great deal…”

The question about trying out her new glamour started the owl-like senshi for a moment. Blinking, she looked down at her hand and nodded slowly before powering down with a sigh.

“Yes, I think that would be a good idea. I only have to focus, correct?”

Even as she was speaking, Jihlava was reaching for that same mental place that helped her to retrieve her henshin pen. Granted, she wasn’t trying to access subspace, but the idea was similar. It was just reaching for another sort of magic. Concentrating on how the ring felt on her finger helped. And once she found the way it felt mentally, she did as Realta had suggested and gave the slightest mental push. A few moments later, she was rewarded with her hand, normally a pale blue-ish white, looking far pinker than she was used to. Glancing up at the cat, she smiled nervously.

“Did I do it right?”

Quote:
Realta worked at sending off the notification to the human senshi in question as Jihlava-- hm. Not quite Jihlava any more. An ear flicked, and the Savannah tilted her head somewhat after the message was sent, taking in the otherworldly appearance of the woman. Yes, the same wonderful features as when she was a senshi, but getting the chance to know the person beyond the mantel was still… different in its own way.

The feathers faded as the glamor slipped into place, and Realta gave her a once over to confirm she'd set up the ring correctly. And… yep! "You look fully human to me, dear. Lovely in both forms." For the Mauvian, there was also a sort of… relief when an off-world senshi could take on a glamor when needed. Allow them to live their lives without the concern of being instantly singled out by the Negaverse or some such. Preferable as it might be to not have to hide their natural states…

"What may I call you? We can figure out specifics for your identification documents later." She hopped down lightly from the table, stretching briefly after her paws hit the ground. "Exit is this way, we can pick up the other one on the way out."

Quote:
Following Realta’s lead obediently, Tyta kept glancing at her new form. She was still quite tall. Still a beanpole. But now she looked far more human. It was really quite fascinating. But not so engrossing, yet, that she missed the Mauvian’s gentle question. Smiling a little sadly, she paused and gave the Mauvian a graceful bow.

“Before I became Jihlava, my name was Tyta Odilen. I see no reason why I cannot assume that name again.”

Quote:
The Mauvian smiled, taking note of the name. She could debate some spellings later for the documentation. For now, she just nodded. "Perfect. I'm delighted to have met you, Tyta. You'll have no problem using the name here." Of course, she did have her own curiosity on how the other's culture functioned. Before she became a senshi? Interesting!

Questions for another time, after the poor thing had a good rest and clean up to her heart's content. There would be plenty of time for all of that. Self-care and settling in came first and foremost.

If nothing else… Realta was confident in the support many in the White Moon gave to their non-Earth born counterparts. With the time to settle here, recollect herself, refocus on what she wishes to do next… Tyta, Jihlava, would find ample assistance.

Kyrie was perched on a bench, back against the metal armrest and knees pulled up to use her thighs as a table of sorts for her sketchbook. A vague form of the weird chicken was forming, but her gaze was distant as her pencil tapped idly on the page.

On another page elsewhere in her book, were notes on possible ways to scrabble together pieces from the computer terminals in the hangar. A mixture of Kyrie's own bits of knowledge on the tech, and Realta's input thus far after joining her in the endeavor. The Mauvian's input was already overtaking hers, and Kyrie was grateful for it. Though it would… likely be a while yet. But they were fiddling, experimenting, and Kyrie at least could work on the cosmetic and structural parts without difficulties.

The data drive from Almadel was safely tucked away in subspace, but now and then, she'd keep it out, set it aside after she powered down, and just spend a while just… staring at it. Excitement. Fear. They both burned through her each time. Too many ways her plans could fail. Too many problems that could set her back tenfold.

That evening meeting Jihlava was, now that she had a moment to face facts, a distraction from the proverbial doomscrolling she'd been doing to herself lately. A momentary refocus, an immediate concern. Making sure she got the information and help she needed--Kyrie could do that.

Face down the facts about the similarities between her and Jihlava on the 'I failed' front, and considering what Solaris herself had told her?

Uh.

Oh look. Realta was approaching, with another woman. So absolutely not able to sit down and consider that stuff right now, nope.

As it was, Kyrie smiled, putting her stuff into a satchel bag as her gaze flicked about at the two. "We all good?" Her eyes focused on the tall woman, the glamor of a human not masking the person beneath once Realta hummed and spoke.

"Kyrie, this is Tyta. Tyta, Kyrie." There was an air of amusement Kyrie picked up on in the Mauvian's tone, and indeed, the magic of glamours kept her from recognizing the woman in front of her till the identity was given. Matched with what Jihlava had said. And Kyrie beamed, standing and shouldering her bag.

"Perfect! Let's get going then. Alien invasion and all," she snickered, drawing a sigh from Realta at her joke. But really? What else was she going to call two non-human chicks, who both currently looked very much human, and a magical non-Earth cat, all showing up at a human's condo?

Plus? Kyrie was dead-set on introducing Tyta to early alien flicks and the funny pop culture around them. UFOs and tiny green men especially.
