Ezekiel walked down the sidewalk with a duffel bag slung over his shoulder nursing a forming black eye, expression sour as he thought over options, thought over what just happened in his own home.
His Dad was out working late. Yolie finally had an apartment, and he was home thinking quietly with Zayne. His mind was burning with the fact he was still processing just how badly losing his "Uncle" had left him. Seeing Yolanda crying because Dubhe was not fast enough. Not strong enough. He was thinking about the senshi he was meeting. Most had families. Flint - well Flint ?Zeke suspected nwcwe had a healthy familial relationship, but othewrs...
Zeke's thoughts were interrupted by my disappearances on the news. It was common in Destiny City. Too common. Zeke knew what it might be, and looked at thew news before Zayne scoffed.
"Weak." Zayne drawled languidly. "Who cares if people are missing? It's common."
"Their families do Zayne." Zeke groaned in frustration. "For all you know, they lost someone like Yolie lost her dad."
"Yeah but Yolie didn't deserve it." Zaynre huffed. "I mean for all we kjnow their car's wrapped around something. Like your friend's parents. That rich a*****e Flint. Big deal. Everything dies." Zayne stretched. "Even we will die."
Zeke stared with a mix of horror and rage. Zayne had gone from compassion for their cousin to dismissing all grief entirely. It felt strange on Zeke's shoulders to realize Zayne was showing so little empathy and even less well realizing at one time he'd been closer to his twin. Might've laughed with him.
Not now.
"You realize you just discredited Yolanda grioeving her Dad?! Uncle Aloisus grieving Grandma?! What the HELL Zayne! Just because we all die doesn't make it suck less s**t!" Zeke snapped furiously. "How would you feel if Father died now that Mom's gone?!"
"...You're asking if I'd miss Father? That b*****d? He's taken his issues out on us for bloody years." Zayne hissed. "I don't care."
Silence. Zeke couldn't believe he heard it voiced. There had been a time he didn't like his father either. Vincent was difficult. Distant to the twins, closer to their cousin and her Dad. Let them live in their home. But after seeing him lose his friend... Seeing the war, hoiw it scarred his cousin, reading family records.... Zeke... Reached out. A little more. He wasn't sure his father entirely understood but he did feel less animosity. More affection, perhaps. Ezekiel felt regret not trying sooner but similarly he understood perhaps... Perhaps he was in no place to do so. But to hear XZayne so callously dismiss their father.... Before Zeke could stop himself he lunged, throwing Zayne into the wall, pinning his twin in as he leaned close, seeing red as his voice dropped to a dangerous bar, low and snarling.
"You stupid, cold-hearted b*****d." Zeke snarled, dangerous. Cold. "We don't know what Father's seen. What he had to do fore us let alone anyone else in the military. Father raised us, sheltered us, and did his damn best and helped our cousin after she lost Aunt Maria. So you would do well to SHUT. UP."
Zayne's response was swift. He moved and swung, punching Zeke in the face. Zekje staggered back, letting his tein go, but snarled as Zeke groiwled.
"He never cared one s**t about us." Zayne growled. Zeke glared, one hand nursing his face, as Zeke growled in his chest.
"Noi. He did. We were just too damned selfish to see it, you sodding selfish b*****d. Eat s**t Zayne." Zeke hissed. Zayne raised his fist, swinging for Zeke, and Zeke caught his fist, twisting before his foot darted out, sweeping Zayne's feet out from under him before Vincent's voice interrupted.
"Boys!" Vincent snapped. Zayne scrabbled to his feet, glowering, but Zeke took a shuddering death, pointing at Zayne.
"I'm sorry Father. I can't live with him anyhmore. He - he was dismissing the disappearances on the news! Then he dismissed ewhat you went through every deployment!" Zeke snapped. Vincent was silent, surprised as Zeke stortmed to his room. The house was quiet as Zeke threw his clothing and most precious items into a duffel. He just knew he had to leave, not where he'd go. Finally a voice came from his doorway. Reserved. Quiet.
"Do you know where you plan to go?" Vincent asked quietly., Zeke paused and turned.
"...A friend's house. I..." Zeke shook. Vincewnt approached,m not saying a word, simply reaching, embracing his son awkwardly.
"You will keep touch." It was almost a command. Almost an order. But Zeke knew why. He held still. Vincent hadn't hugged him in... Year. And slowly he hugged his father tightly.
"I will Father. And we can arrange a weekly visit. Restaurant." Zeke promised. Then faltered. "I'll be alright. And gather my possessions once I possess an apartment, Father -- we can even go hunting deer--"
"I... Would like that, And I would like to meet your friends, at some time." Vincent nodded silently. Zeke looked surprised, but then he nodded, smiling thinly as his father helped him finish.
And now he walked Destiny City in the dark. It was quiet and still, but he was Ezekiel Tucana not Sailor Susanoo, and still he walked before sighing, deciding. Therte was no way in hell Flint would let Zayne get away with this and Zeke wasn't ready to argue with him to not maul his twin financially, so he tuirned and walked down an unfamiliar, nice street. The blossoming black eye hurt as Zeke walked up the path to a massive house, but the good luck charm on his wrist from his father felt freeing as he approached that intimidating, welcoiming glow and slowly, he rapped at the door. After a few minutes Siv opened her front door and blinked, surprised to see him standing there as he looked at her almost... Timidly.
Vulnerable.
"...Siv...? I had a fiught with XZayne and I can't stay at home with him anymore. Can... Can I stay with yoiu?"
