Since the engagement, since they'd been throwing out ideas about their deservedly ostentatious wedding, Eles's net of consideration had been cast wider. Albite paid upfront for his invitation, obviously, but who else should come? He would certainly invite the girls, even if they were purely there to make some money off the bachelor party. He'd invite Goth Cheerleader, but had no way of contacting him. Obviously Desiree deserved an invite, too. Briefly he considered that Knight in the furs, before deciding he neither liked nor disliked her enough to invite her. Blarney could come, though.
And… What about the Court? Hybris belonged to the Dark Mirror Court, yet they'd never encountered another like him in all the times they went out together. Marriage meant quite a bit to courts, didn't it? If nothing else, as a political thing. Eles wasn't sure there was anything politically useful about him, but he would be remiss if he didn't introduce himself to the Court's important people. Whoever they were.
Oh, what surprise he had for learning that the Court had a Prince at its crown! A prince sounded rather dashing — who better to introduce himself to when he'd be marrying the Court's prettiest boy?
So, with a little whining and a whisper of scandal and a touch of bribery, Cadmium and Hybris were together once more, then folded into the mirror, then into Mirrorspace where the halls ever shifted and the decor was only a brief suggestion, then through those grandiose doors to the Mirrorscape where the great citadel looked down from a sea of time-stopped stars. Where better to host a Prince than Hybris's private plot, where they could enjoy luxury and decadence with enough wine to placate a small army?
"Does my hair look okay?" He asked brightly, as his hand captured each individual digit of Hybris's pale splendor and traced their delicate bones. "No bruises showing?"
It wouldn't do to look like he couldn't protect himself, let alone Hybris.

Inspecting the blonde closely, then leaning in even closer, Hybris gave the blonde locks a critical look. "It looks good," he finally nodded. "Do you want to grow it out, or should I touch up the roots soon?" Seeing his fiancé this excited to meet the Dark Mirror Prince was gratifying. Cadmium wasn't exactly the greatest fan of the Mirror, generally acting as if Hybris was being scammed by it, while also having to accept that it was likely the best place for Hybris to exist in. Fortunately, that first panic attack didn't have much in the way of repeat other than some moments of tension that had faded with time and exploration of Mirrorspace. It had become a safe, peaceful place for the two to spend time powered up. Especially when they needed such to magically speed along the healing process. "No bruises, either." Which was a bit of a pity, really. Earlier that evening, Remarque would have received a message on his compact, Hybris's voice calling out with in a cheerful, inveigling manner, full of silly flattery and the request that the Prince meet him tonight inside the Black Citadel. There was someone very important to him that was so very was eager to meet Remarque. So please, please come and be nice. But maybe also a little mean? Standing a few feet away from the Citadel's mirror, Hybris airily assured his fiancé, "You look very impressive and handsome. I'd also let you marry me."

Remarque was on time. Prompt, only two minutes early, but perhaps glad that his company had already arrived so he didn’t have to stand around and find things to keep himself busy while waiting. At least they had the means to entertain themselves while waiting for him.
He hoped, to a small degree, that he had not kept them waiting for long. It wouldn’t have mattered if he had; he was still early. They were just earlier.
When in Mirrorspace, he maintained the form of Prince Remarque, part in show to remind Mirrorspace who he was, part to give an energy signature to anyone who might need a beacon to draw themselves to, and mostly because Mirrorspace was so unpredictable; he didn’t want to think about summoning his wings if the floor suddenly crumbled beneath him. Again.
The Mirrorscape was both more stable and more mysterious than the rest of Mirrorspace, so it was a good meeting place. More colorful, too.
Raising a hand in greeting, Remarque was courteous as he crossed the distance to join with the two. He had some information, not enough. With Hyrbis, it never felt like enough. With a stranger to meet, even less so.
“If I didn’t know better, I’d think I was interrupting.” He delivered it with a straight face even if teasing but, really, what was he supposed to think with them so close to one another?
He raised a hand in greeting, searching each of their faces and preserving what he could. Beyond an inquisitive expression summoned by eyes that lingered briefly on each of them, his face was a mask. “Hybris, you look well.”
And his friend–
Remarque smiled politely, but let the burden of introductions and explanations fall to Hybris. “You were pretty animated in that message you sent. What’s going on?”

"Touch it up," he answered decisively. "It's different. It's mine." Or it felt like his, considering he woke up with a head full of black hair before. That was evidence enough to doubt that he used to dye his hair before, well, forgetting everything. Or he liked to think so. However small the choice, it was his choice, unique to whatever had come before.
But, of course, Hybris would know precisely what to say. What anxious hopefulness brewed was soon quelled to a self-satisfied grin at the boy's admission. No bruises, no hairs out of place, nothing to obstruct a good impression.
Or that was what he had thought, before something tauntingly powerful overcame him and he turned at the sound of the voice. Then there was another blonde, dressed quite smartly in a manner quite different from Hybris, predicated by a pair of raven's wings in an oil slick's rainbow. Or so they seemed in what glimpses he caught of their sheen. But most important and demanding of his attention was the hat. Cadmium stared at it unabashed. Look at that hat, he signed to the other boy.
Maybe they could try on some hats later. Nothing would be as sharp as a magical hat, but they could try.
Feeling a little out of his element, the Captain kept quiet as most of the Prince's questions were directed toward the most mutually familiar person in the area. He couldn't help but think that this was exactly what Hybris wanted.

It's quite a hat, Hybris signed back, dimples firmly in check. The feeling of the prince's aura brought its awe and comfort, and he beamed happily at the sight of Remarque. Swinging their hands between them, he greeted the prince with an all too pleased, "Hello ~ Prince Remarque! Thank you for coming to meet us!" Bringing Cadmium's hand up to his lips, he introduced his companion, "This is Cadmium, who is very, very, utterly and stupendously important to me." The fact that Remarque would very likely recognize Cadmium as Faustite was blithely ignored for the moment. He took a step toward the mirror on the floor, "We want to tell you all about it, but would you like to step over to my island first? I've made it very comfortable."

Scrutiny should be expected of anyone entering Mirrorspace, so it was probably unsurprising that the Captain was under Remarque’s watchful eye in brief, albeit thorough, examination. Though his expression was notably unperturbed. A single brow arched.
“...Cadmium, huh.”
After a few seconds, he shrugged. With polite formality, he greeted Cadmium with a courteous nod.
“Okay, then.”
Sure, whatever. He couldn’t be sure that Hybris wasn’t playing some game–wasn’t he always?–but for now, Remarque could roll with it. It was important to Hybris, after all.
“Yeah, show me your island. Let me see what you’ve been up to around here.”
