Yota watched from the trees as a white leopardess walked through the tiny area he claimed as his home. He hadn’t been here long, but he was ready to defend the space with all he could. He’d been shoved out of every home he had ever known, and he wasn’t about to lose this one without a good reason. He tried to lower his breathing to a soft, silent puff, but his anxiety over his little space was overwhelming. He hated being alone, but that was where his life had lead him so far. He stalked closer to where the leopardess was, bright orange eyes focused. This was his only chance to catch her off guard. He held his breath until she came close enough and--
Pounced!
His planned appeared to have worked, he could hear the wind leave the leopardess, and she coughed once before swinging at him. He didn’t expect her to be able to swing back at him so quickly! He pulled himself away, anger at the fact that she was able to hit his shoulder. He growled at her. “Why are you trespassing!” He demanded angrily. The leopardess tilted her head in confusion, and Yota frowned at her. Perhaps while she was confused, he could strike her again. He circled around her, unsure of what to do now that he no longer had the element of surprise.
He was mad that she recovered so quickly.
He lunged at her again, trying to use his claws to scare her off, but she pulled out of range, just in time. Just to add insult to injury, the leopardess swung out in response, slapping him clear across the face. Fortunately, she didn’t quite seem to want to fight him, and the blow was not as harsh as it could have been. Still, the hit smarted. “Calm down,” She growled at him, and oh did that make him want to be able to take her down even more. She was just toying with him! That wasn’t fair at all. There was a reason Yota was alone, after all. He was more of a claw-first, ask questions later kind of guy, and being told to calm down pushed him over the edge. He charged her, slamming into her side. He attempted to bite her, but again the white leopardess recovered quickly. She snarled at him, biting him in the jaw until he was forced to retreat, or risk his jaw being broken. He scampered back a bit, touching his jaw gentle with his paw. He could feel blood from where she bit him, and he wondered how fast that would hit.
She had sharp eyes on him, and circled. He circled as well, trying to stay away from her as he assessed the damage to himself.
The leopardess was smart, though. She hadn’t come here looking for a fight, but Yota had. He wondered how well she held her own, in such a circumstance. He wasn’t sure if he would have held up so well. She was a bit larger than him as well, and he couldn’t help but be a little more scared of her. Her ears pricked forward as she watched him intently.
He lunged at her again. Now he just needed to escape, he could tell this situation had gone from bad to worse. If she wanted this spot, then she could have it. He swiped at her, but she managed to dodge him again. With ease!!
He growled at her, attempted to run off, but she lunged in front of him. She swiped at him, stopping him in his tracks, the claws nearly coming down on his muzzle. Fear lanced through his body and he backed up. Perhaps if he could give her one more hard hit, she would leave him alone! He snarled at her one more time before launching himself at her.
This was probably the biggest mistake of his life, thus far. The leopardess lunged at him at the same time, and she far outclassed him in weight. He could feel the air leave his body as she pinned him down, using her muscles to keep him on the ground with her superior strength. She was breathing a bit hard, while Yota struggled to regain his breath.
After a moment, she spoke. “Are you alright?” She asked, gently, touching where she bit him with a light paw. When she pulled her paw away, there was a light patch of blood on her light-colored paws, staining the blue into a sticky purple. He growled at her one more time, but she didn’t seem phased by his antics anymore. She kept him pinned, laving her tongue over his jaw with a gentleness he hadn’t felt in a long time, not since he was a cub at the very least.
“I didn’t mean to bite you so hard. You came at me with such force. It’s quite admirable,” She continued to speak, tilting his jaw a bit to see if it was still bleeding, but it seemed to have been to her satisfaction, because she gave a triumphant smirk and pulled back a bit. “My name is Asha, and I’m a journeyman, training to be a guard of my colony. I may not be a seeker, or training to be one, but it would be nice if you were to join. Its just north of here,” She informed him.
Yota wasn’t having it though. She thoroughly embarrassed him, and as soon as he could. Just. Move. He would run from here, as far as he could. Clearly he was too close to whatever crazy colony this leopardess was part of! She shifted her weight off of him, and he jumped up. He snarled at her one last time before escaping into the trees. He hoped to never, ever see that leopardess again.
Asha could only give a small chuckle. She shook her head and continued her walk through the Oak Forest. What an odd fellow.
