In the shadowed brush of the autumnwood lies a territory claimed by tooth and cunning, gouged by the claws of its owner; the Crows. Fog clings low to the ground, twining around trunks and creeping over the carpeted earth, where rust and auburn leaves scatter. Few venture far within their lands, for the Crows are neither welcoming nor forgiving, and those who come uninvited seldom leave with more than they arrived with.
The Crows are an old pack, although their faces have changed. Once a sprawling gathering of teeth and claws, they were nearly wiped out by a devastating plague. Forced to rebuild from the ashes, the current Crows are a different breed — transactional, cunning, clever. They’ve grown fierce in the shadows, bound together by ironclawed strength. To them, outsiders are mere means to an end: every encounter a trade, every alliance a bargain. Nothing is given freely to those outside of their clutch, and every debt comes at a price.
Though united under the same name, the Crows are bound less by blood than by mutual interest and unbroken promise. Loyalty is the only currency that holds value within their walls, and betrayal is paid for in blood. Every member chooses what they value most— gold, gems, rare relics, favors owed, etc — and pursues it with relentless determination. One may hoard silver trinkets like a magpie, and another may covet influence or whispered secrets. What matters to the pack is not what you seek, but that you earn it, keep it, and never betray your brethern in its upkeep.
To be one of the Crows is to live with one talon clenched tightly over your spoils, and the other poised to defend what is yours. Outsiders are a transaction or, at worst, an obstacle. Among the Crows, nothing shines brighter than what you claim for yourself and the loyalty of your pack. Quote: 「Page One」「Page Two+」➽ All additional posts are clan updates + forms.

On the edge of the oak forest lies a red-tinged, rust-colored forest known simply as the Redwoods. Once barren of life, recent times have been kind to it, filling the forest with herbs, thick foliage, and an abundance of prey. A heavy fog clings low to the ground, deceiving those unfamiliar with the forest’s ways and sending them into a fruitless, endless stumble. The Crows use this fog to their advantage, having mastered every twist of the terrain and establishing strategic watchpoints over the most treacherous, dangerous paths.
The pack claims most of the Redwoods as its own, along with the long, unforgiving river to the east and a smaller, heart-shaped lake. They also guard a sprawling, deep cave (its entrance lying almost flush with the ground) that shelters the wounded and sick. Few outsiders ever make it past the watchpoints, but should they, they would be wise to keep their eyes sharp; the Crows keep their dens scattered in the shadows through the blood-colored woods.
Every member, whether born into the pack or sworn into it, is rigorously taught to navigate the Redwoods. Any interested outsider must be brought to a watchpoint, where a Claw will judge if they are worthy of escort to the Murder’s Roost. Trespassers, however, are deemed hostile and are answered with tooth and claw.
✦ Biome: Oak Forest ✦ Weather: The Redwoods remain cool year-round, their canopy trapping a faint humidity while fog drapes low to the ground, winding through the trees. Quote: 「The Redwoods」➽ Murder's Roost: Informally called the Roost, the Murder's Roost is where the pack gathers for meetings, ceremonies, holidays, and other matters of significance. The land here is flat and open, easily accommodating the pack’s numbers. The food hoard is hidden under a smaller cave, almost blocked by a large boulder. ➽ Stonecradle: An expansive cave with a single, nearly flush-to-the-ground entrance, hidden in an unassuming location. Inside its dark, twisting tunnels is the hospital, where the sick and injured are tended to. Deeper in, from prying eyes, are the herb storage rooms. ➽ Hoards: There are fixed locations for hoards. They can be hidden inside hollow trees, beneath rocks, in burrows, or anywhere the pack deems safe and far from potential sticky paws. The Crowds work together to conceal their treasures, with every member knowing exactly where those hoards lie. Hoards hold valuables shared by the pack or claimed by individuals (individually owned hoards typically are smaller, and closer to a family's Nest). The only exceptions are medicinal and food hoards, which have specific locations for ease of collection. ➽ Nests: Each Crow has a Nest, whether they share it with others or remain on their own. A Nest is a member's home and is considered private. While higher-ranking members know each Nest's location, who is allowed inside or given the directions is strictly up to the inhabitant. ➽ Deepclaw River: The unforgiving river marks one of the borders of the Redwoods, commanding respect for its unrelenting currents. Serving as a natural barrier for the East Watchpoint, it makes sneaking in from the east nearly impossible. ➽ Lovers Lake: A calm and serene heart-shaped lake, where many weddings, courtships, and secret meetings take place.. ➽ Prison: Divided into two areas, the prison includes a holding bay for prisoners awaiting duty assignments, and a shared den for those currently working with the Crows. Conditions are decent, though far from comfortable. Quote: 「The Watchpoints」➽ North Watchpoint: words ➽ East Watchpoint: beside the river ➽ South Watchpoint: words ➽ West Watchpoint: words

The Crows exist for one reason: to claim, to keep, and to never give freely. Every member is defined by their talents and what they treasure— be it gold, secrets, favors, or something else —and by the skill they wield to earn it. Loyalty to their fellow Crows binds them, and their members’ worth is measured by the strengths they bring to the flock.
Whether through mercenary work, thievery, or something as mundane as cultivating herbs, each Crow offers their services at a price. To them, generosity is a weakness, and weakness has no place within their flock. In the Crow's eyes, every bargain struck, victory claimed, and treasure hoarded is proof of your strength — and the only true mark of belonging.Quote: 「Treasure」➽ Every Crow claims a treasure: something uniquely theirs, the thing they value above all else. This treasure dictates what they accept as payment for their services. ➽ Many keep physical hoards scattered throughout the packlands, hiding away the wealth and trinkets they’ve gathered. It is considered a great honor for another Crow to be invited to one's hoard. Quote: 「Jobs」➽ Many Crows sell their talents to outsiders, always for a price of their choosing. ➽ The work itself is not judged — only that no service is ever given freely, and outsiders are dealt with beyond the pack’s borders unless granted permission.

Bound by loyalty and trade, the Crows are a family with sharp claws and ruthless teeth. Each member carries a skill— some harmless, some deadly —and those without a talent are viewed as either lesser or, depending on age and how long they've been within the pack, still learning to spread their wings. What matters is not the trade itself, but that it is done with cunning and returned to the pack. Services are sold beyond the borders, but never without payment — never without purpose. Personality matters little; what truly holds weight within the pack is allegiance. Any personality is welcome, as long as loyalty to the flock remains first and foremost.
Despite their ruthlessness toward outsiders, within their ranks the Crows are fiercely familial. Hard-working and relentless, the Crows take pride in their duties and relish the occasions to celebrate the fruits of their labor. Gatherings, ceremonies, births, new kin, and even small victories are reveled in with feasting and noise — a reminder that even in the shadows, life is to be lived to the fullest. Betrayal is rare, for betrayal is answered in blood. Should another pack harm even one of their own, the Crows will descend without hesitation in a flurry of claw and teeth.
The Crows’ skills are for hire, and every service comes with a price. Fail to pay, and you'll find yourself a prisoner. Trespassers, debt-dodgers, or enemies caught in their talons will find themselves dragged to the prisons, confined, and set to work until it's deemed they've served their sentence. Prisoners serve the pack by maintaining the lands, assisting with daily duties, or— in the case of those considered to be too dangerous or unreliable —remain confined indefinitely. Good behavior can earn freedom, or even a place among the Crows themselves. Though prisoners are still prisoners, the pack ensures they are fed, sheltered, and tended to when ill. Morality among Crows varies, and not every member agrees on the finer points of treatment, but prisoners are given basic rights to protection and relative safety regardless.
Above all, the pack moves as one: familial, vengeful, and unyielding. Grudges are held, loyalty is rewarded, and every action is measured by what it brings to the flock. Quote: 「Talents」➽ Every adult Crow possesses at least one skill they excel in, whether harmless or deadly. ➽ Children are encouraged to explore and discover what they excel at. ➽ Crows may offer their skills to outsiders — but always for a price, never freely. Quote: 「Crows」➽ Birds, especially crows, hold a place of importance within the pack. Many are bonded and trained for specific tasks: one may be sent to announce the approach of enemies, another to call a member back home. Each tamed crow serves a precise purpose, aiding the pack in both communication and defense. Quote: 「Jobs and Hiring」➽ Crows may offer their skills to outsiders. ➽ To hire a Crow, requests must be made at a Watchpoint, where a Guard decides whether to send a Crow with the appropriate skill or refuse the task. ➽ The pack advertises their services through Recruiters and Scouts, providing outsiders a way to learn of the Crows and their talents. Quote: 「As a Pack」➽ The Crows are fiercely loyal, valuing the strength and skill each member brings. ➽ Betrayal is rare, and answered with blood. ➽ Daily life revolves around work, vigilance, and personal achievement; every service must be earned and repaid. ➽ Semi-nocturnal by nature, the pack moves under the cover of darkness, typically carrying out jobs, patrols, and training at night, when the shadows and fog conceal their steps. ➽ The pack has a tightly-knit community; every member has a role, and allegiance to the flock is absolute. ➽ Disputes are often settled through sparring, with the outcome determined by the victor. Quote: 「Hierarchy」➽ The Crows’ hierarchy is largely merit-based, with only the Alpha role tied to bloodline (unless forcibly claimed). Members earn their rank through skill — those who refuse to find their talent and take a place in the pack risk banishment. ➽ Ranks are divided into categories: Claw, Eye, Beak, Wings, and Feather. More information can be found in the ranks post. ➽ New members and children are labeled Roleless until they've found their skill set. ➽ The pack is led by the Alpha, who is assisted by Head Members (those who have mastered their rank and now command those under them). Quote: 「Reproduction」➽ Breeding within the pack is straightforward. Children are welcomed, and as long as no unnecessary drama arises, members are free to have as many pups as they wish with whomever they choose. ➽ Having children with outsiders is not shunned, though it is expected that the Crow will claim at least half of the litter. It is not uncommon for members to deceive partners and then swipe the offspring, bringing the young back to the pack. ➽ Members who breed outside pack lands may request their partner join the pack; however, the partner must still prove their worth to the Alpha. ➽ When a litter is born, members visit to offer gifts and congratulations. Once the young can move on their own, a small feast is often held in their honor. ➽ Members may not breed with prisoners. Any offspring born to prisoners will be taken by the pack and raised without knowledge of their biological parents, unless the parent(s) eventually join the pack. Quote: 「Raising the Young」➽ Children are treasured within the flock, receiving careful attention from both parents and assigned Caretakers. They are often trained in the skills and talents of their parents. ➽ Children taken by the pack or brought as payment are immediately adopted and treated no differently than pups born into the flock. ➽ If a child demonstrates aptitude in a skill their parents do not possess, they will be trained by a Crow whose talents more properly align. ➽ Parents are granted two months away from duties to nurture and train their young, unless deemed unfit to do so. Quote: 「Death」➽ Death from natural causes— or any fate not inflicted by another —is met with solemn respect. The flock buries their dead, holds a quiet funeral, and recounts the deceased’s deeds through the night. ➽ Death by unnatural causes, with someone to blame, is met with ruthless vengeance. The pack mourns briefly before striking — targeting those responsible with lethal intent. Only once the wrong has been avenged do they return to honor the deceased, completing the funeral rites. Failure to avenge a fallen Crow is considered a grave sorrow. ➽ Death by accident is considered individually, with the Alpha ultimately deciding on how to handle the loss. Quote: 「Love」➽ Relationships within the pack are primarily left to personal choice, provided they are consensual and safe. ➽ Marriage is not uncommon, although not necessarily pushed, either. Paired members often share a den and a hoard, their bond reflected in shared space and treasures. Infidelity is seen as a betrayal of that bond; repeated offenses draw the Alpha’s intervention. ➽ Romantic feelings for an outsider are highly frowned upon. Having pups with someone outside the pack is tolerated, but falling for them? Scandalous. Gossip will follow, and even bringing the outsider into the pack only dulls whispers temporarily, until something more exciting comes along. Refusing to end the affair draws the Alpha’s attention: the options are simple— bring the outsider in and endure the scrutiny, or sever ties entirely. Refusal to comply may result in banishment. Quote: 「Names」➽ Every member carries two names: a given name and, rarely, an earned name. ➽ A given name is received at birth. While the pack places no strict theme, names often draw from night, birds, or feathers. ➽ Earned names are rare and may commemorate a grand deed, a cunning act, or an infamous action — any mark significant enough to brand a Crow within the pack. Quote: 「Appearance and Species」➽ Only Ma'Duwi are accepted within the pack (except any companions they may have). ➽ No strict rules govern appearance, but darker pelts are favored and more common among the flock. Quote: 「Companions」➽ All companions are welcomed, but expected to stay close to their bonded. Quote: 「Travel」➽ Fully accepted members may travel for personal or professional reasons, but must return within a few months. Those who go missing will be sought. ➽ Travel for a job is permitted, but the Alpha must be informed if the member will be gone beyond a few months. Not all ranks may take jobs — check rank descriptions first. ➽ Recruiters may travel freely for as long as necessary, so long as it is in service to the pack. Quote: 「Outsiders」➽ Anyone not a part of the pack, whether it be family or friend, is considered an outsider. ➽ Outsiders may request entry at a Watchpoint, though exceptions apply. Those carrying a Crow litter are allowed in and escorted to Stonecradle, where they remain until birthing and then choose to join or leave without their pups. Outsiders recruited by a Recruiter— or who seek to join of their own will —are brought to the Alpha to discuss membership. Allied colonies or packs may also be permitted entry, depending on circumstances. Exceptions like these are among the few reasons an outsider might be allowed in, though rare, unusual circumstances may occasionally occur. ➽ Outsiders wishing to join are met with caution. They must first endure a trial of silence, resisting distractions before being brought before the Alpha. There, they must plead their case — explaining what talents they possess, what skills they hope to learn, or how they might benefit the pack. The Alpha alone decides their fate. Children, however, are exempt from this trial and are immediately adopted with earnest. Quote: 「Banishment」➽ Banishment is rare, as the pack tolerates fights and welcomes nearly any personality. Still, rules exist: murdering a packmate, harming a child, endangering the flock, or betraying the pack can result in banishment —and in particularly grievous cases, execution. ➽ Banishment severs all ties permanently; the exiled may never return or interact with the Crows again. For them, it is often a fate harsher than death. Quote: 「Prison」➽ The pack keeps prisoners, typically held for offenses such as theft from the flock, refusing payment for completed work, harming a member, trespassing, or other infractions not severe enough to warrant death. ➽ Prisoners not considered high-risk are put to work under guard, with their movements closely watched. Those who prove reliable may eventually earn freedom —or, if particularly valuable and trusted, a place among the Crows themselves. ➽ Prisoners deemed too dangerous to roam the pack lands are kept indefinitely, denied work or freedom, and in some cases may be executed to conserve resources. ➽ While imprisoned, prisoners are guaranteed basic safety, medical care, and food, though treatment may vary by Crow. Members are prohibited from egregiously harming, maiming, or assaulting prisoners. A Guard may administer correctional measures for misbehavior. ➽ Pack members do not become prisoners; betraying or harming the pack is treated as an act deserving banishment.

The Crows rebranded themselves after the plague that wiped out much of their history, resulting in fewer traditions being passed down through the generations. As the pack grows and matures, more customs and holidays are likely to emerge over time.Quote: 「Any Time of the Year」➽ Marriage: While the pack does not enforce traditional views on marriage, those who choose to wed are free to shape the ceremony to their own vision. Some prefer intimate exchanges of vows, while others opt for larger celebrations with feasting and dancing. The act itself is less about ritual and more about the public recognition of a lifelong bond, honored in whatever way feels most meaningful to those being wed. ➽ Divorce: The ending of a union is considered a personal matter, much like marriage itself. Those parting ways may choose how to mark the separation, whether quietly and without ceremony, or with a symbolic act to sever their bond. While gossip is inevitable, the pack as a whole respects the choice to walk separate paths. ➽ Funeral: Funerals are a somber, sacred affair. The body is buried swiftly, and the grave is adorned with trinkets and offerings meant to guide and strengthen the soul in the afterlife. A modest feast follows, where grief is shared openly and stories of the departed are spoken into the night. When the moon reaches its highest point, the pack unites to howl their grief, sending their farewell to the skies above in the hope that the deceased will hear. Should the death be caused by murder or wrongdoing, a gathering is held shortly after the funeral to decide which Crows will enact their vengeance. ➽ Birthdays: The birthday Crow can expect gifts throughout the day, often hidden along their usual paths or presented in clever ways. Friends and family may hunt for their favorite meal or gather shiny trinkets as tokens of affection. Later in the evening, close friends and family often celebrate with an intimate gathering in their honor. ➽ Heir Banquet: When an heir to the Alpha is chosen, a banquet is thrown, lavishly decorated and piled high with an almost gluttonous amount of kill. The celebration lasts until the last Crow falls from exhaustion, with all members of the party either offering their congratulations to the heir or bestowing a gift. ➽ Alpha Ceremony: The passing or stepping down of an Alpha is a solemn event, as the bond between the Crows and their Alpha is meant to be close and intimate. When the Alpha is ready to step down or has passed, the Heir rises to take their title, symbolically crowned with a deer-antlered crown placed by the previous mate of the Alpha or another close pack member. The ceremony is quiet but warm, with ample food provided. Stories of the last Alpha are often shared fondly. In recent times, all Alpha Ceremonies have been amicable, with each Alpha stepping down due to old age or passing. ➽ Trial of Silence: When a newcomer is recruited from outside pack lands, they must undergo the Trial of Silence before standing before the Alpha to request entry. They are brought to a Watchpoint and must make their way to the pack’s heart, ignoring the numerous distractions set by members and never making a sound or response until they reach the Alpha. Success grants them an audience with the Alpha, while failure results in being sent away. Quote: 「Winter」➽ December 25th, The Black Feast: A celebration of togetherness and survival, the pack fells a great carcass— elk, stag, or whatever prey fate provides —and strips it clean together. Nothing is wasted: flesh is shared, hide is repurposed, and bones are carved into charms and trinkets to be gifted among the flock. Each Crow is encouraged to offer a handmade gift, a token of loyalty and bond, to those they regard fondly. At Murder’s Roost, a great fire is lit at dawn and burns through the night, its flames guarded and fed as a symbol of endurance. ➽ December 31st, The Turning: A night symbolizing change and the shedding of the past year’s regrets. A great fire is lit in Murder’s Roost, and each member crafts a small charm to represent what they wish to leave behind. These charms are cast into the flames, burning away the weight of the old year and making way for renewal. At midnight, when the moon reaches its peak, all members within the pack lands howl in unity, carrying themselves into the new year together as one. ➽ February 14th, Crimsend: A day for giving something precious of one’s own to another, as a symbol of trust, loyalty, and inclusion in one’s inner circle. Gifts are never trivial; each must be carefully chosen and of value to the giver, a reflection of the bond they are willing to share. ➽ February 28th, Night of the Fallen: Fires are lit throughout the Redwoods. Each participating Crow places a personal token before a fire to honor those who came before, symbolizing respect for those who shaped the pack. Stories of fallen members are shared, alongside lessons learned from past deeds. Quote: 「Spring」 ➽ April 1st, Midnight Hunt: Members of the pack hide valuable trinkets around Murder's Root and the Redwoods, encouraging younger or new members to find them and prove their cleverness. At midnight, the pack hunts as one. ➽ May 1st, Featherfall: A day dedicated to growth and renewal. Members craft small feather charms symbolizing their goals for the season and decorate their dens. Crows are encouraged to reflect on past endeavors and consider how they might improve in the year ahead. Quote: 「Summer」➽ July 15th, Blood Trials: Members spend the day competing within a clan-held trial, featuring mock battles, hunting contests, and other tests of wit and strength. Bloodshed is permitted, though care is taken to avoid mortal injury. The day ends in the crowning of the strongest Crow, celebrated with a formal ceremony. Quote: 「Autumn」➽ October 31st, Fallen's Eve: A night to honor and remember those who have passed, the Crows decorate Murder’s Roost and the surrounding grounds with carved pumpkins, squash, and gourds, their flickering lights meant to guide friendly spirits and ward off malevolent ones. Dressing in disguises is encouraged, as it is believed that it'll allow the living to blend in with the roaming dead. Storytelling is central to the evening — tales of the deceased, whispered legends, and ghostly stories are shared around fires. At midnight, offerings of food and trinkets are offered to the dead in hopes that it'll protect their souls from being snatched in their sleep. ➽ November 25th, Fellowfeast: Once daily duties are complete, members gather to share a feast, each contributing something to the meal. It is a day dedicated to expressing gratitude and appreciation for one another and the colony as a whole.

The Crows are an old pack, reborn from the ashes of plague and ruin. The current members see this as a new age — one of hope and promise after the devastation of what they call The Extinction. How will their story unfold? Only time will tell. Quote: 「Current Happenings」➽ Rebuilding: With only a few years as Alpha under his belt, Big Bad has focused all efforts on restoring lost, decrepit parts of the pack lands and preparing for winter. There's a murmur in the pack, one that whispers about needing new faces to join their ranks. While not explicitly said, there is an understanding that any breeding would be greatly welcomed.
Meanwhile, Big Bad hasn't been seen for some time. The last the pack heard was that he had something to attend to, and that he'd be back soon. The remaining Crows anxiously await, hoping his words are true. Quote: 「Creation」A long, long time ago, the Redwood was a lush and thriving land, welcoming to all who sought a home within it. It was no surprise when a small family made their claim there, led by a male named Crow Foot and accompanied by his wife and two children. Fierce, ruthless, and vengeful, Crow Foot spilled blood swiftly within the Redwoods to defend both his family and their territory. To ensure their continued safety, he began recruiting others, presenting his strength as a guarantee of protection and offering them a share of the paradise he had carved from the woods. All they had to do, he declared, was protect one another as family.
Thus, the Crows were born. At first, treasure did not matter — only each other and the promise made mattered. The pack grew, families were formed, and Crow Foot stood proud over his powerful and growing pack.
Then the unthinkable happened: he lost his children in a violent storm, their bodies mangled and gone, never to be found. Heartbroken and stricken with grief, Crow Foot desperately sought meaning in a world that had suddenly turned grim and gray. He forgot what once mattered; his love for his mate and his pack grew hollow and cold. Instead, he chased whatever might fill the gnawing void — anything to quiet the deafening grief and soothe a heart that no longer beat warmly.
Something else replaced what once made life worth living — greed.
When he encountered a traveler, his eyes were drawn to the beautiful necklace around their neck. Without hesitation, he leapt and took it by force. With it came a flash of triumph — he had claimed something someone else once cherished, something valuable and desired. The thrill was intoxicating, and soon he took again and again, drowning himself in jewels, gold, and trinkets. He led his pack in pursuit of treasure, at first savoring the thrill of stealing alongside those he once loved. But his greed grew sharper, darker, and he soon turned upon his own pack. Nothing was ever enough — no amount of wealth could fill the desperately growing void in his heart.
The pack descended into lawlessness. Crow Foot ruled with force, using his Guards to steal from his own people and his claws to tear into anyone who dared defy him. As his tyranny deepened, he trapped his pack within the Redwood, commanding the Guards to patrol the borders and maim any who tried to escape.
It was during this descent that he fathered one final child with his wife— a child who survived when she did not, her life cut short shortly after his birth. Crow Foot felt the jaws of loss once more and turned his back on his son, offering only a single gift: a name — Of Gold.
While the Alpha ignored his son, the pack quietly celebrated the new life. Some hoped this child might one day undo the darkness his father had brought upon their lands. Others feared he would follow Crow Foot’s bloody path. The pack took it upon themselves to raise Of Gold, teaching him kindness and whispering the old tales of the golden days.
Had Crow Foot paid attention, perhaps he might have survived his son’s adolescence. But his indifference was his undoing. In the dead of night, Of Gold struck, ending his father’s reign of terror and claiming the crown as his own.
With the mad king gone, a strong and peaceful Alpha rose. Of Gold disbanded the corrupt Guards, reassigned positions of power, and established the Flockguard to ensure that future Alphas would always have a council to guide their rule. The Crows welcomed their second Alpha, and with him came balance, order, and a renewed structure for the pack.
Time passed, and the pack evolved under each new Alpha. Out of adoration for Of Gold and his lineage, the crown remained within his line. Though the Redwood lost some of its former luster, pushing the pack closer to its edges, they remained happy and healthy. They continued to seek treasure and, above all, to cherish one another as family.
For a time, all was well.
Until it wasn’t. Quote: 「Extinction」 Many generations later, under an Alpha named Gravel, the pack faced tragedy once more. The Redwood had all but dried into a wasteland of bones and decay, yet the Crows had carved out a home within it. They were unprepared for the sickness that swept through their ranks, nor the cruelty that followed. Ma'duwi began to fall, their bones aching, lungs wheezing with every breath. Gravel struggled to understand the cause. Later, some speculated that a Scout had brought back spoiled meat from outside the deep Redwood, though no one could ever confirm whether this theory was true.
Gravel fell ill, his body wasting and choking under the sickness. The pack withered, and ma'duwi died rapidly. The Heir, a frail boy named Of Silver— a name they thought would bring them good omens —was barely a teenager and could not assume the role of leadership. The Beta, Within Reach, stepped in to guide what remained. The surviving pack spent their days tending to the dead and mourning, their lives consumed by grief and despair.
A neighboring pack heard of the tragedy and approached their borders. At the time, the Crows were not as guarded and welcomed the visitors in. The neighboring pack promised a medicine that would heal the sick. Within Reach, seeing the suffering around him and feeling the first grasp of illness himself, readily accepted their aid. The visiting pack administered the medicine to the ailing wolves, including Within Reach.
Overnight, every medicated wolf perished under the poison masked as medicine, and their hoards were plundered. Of Silver and a handful of survivors awoke amid the corpses, horror clawing at their hearts. By the time Of Silver could even scream in despair, the visiting pack had long vanished, leaving nothing but death and carnage in their wake.
The pack was a shadow of its former self. Nearly destroyed, the remaining ma'duwi cleaned out the bodies and waited, half-expecting death to claim them next. There was talk of abandoning the territory, but once the hoard of prey had been emptied, it seemed the sickness had run its course. Of Silver accepted leadership, though he lacked the pride and strength of the Alphas before him. The pack began to rebuild slowly, but the heart of who they had once been had long left.
By the time Of Silver had a child, a male named Big Bad, the pack had been restructured to keep outsiders at bay. Trust was scarce; outsiders were not to be welcomed — or easily trusted, at least. Of Silver eventually died of old age, and in his enduring grief, he never appointed a Heir.
This left his only surviving son, Big Bad, to inherit a fractured pack, weakened and with little to rely upon. Quote: 「Rebirth」 Unlike his father, Big Bad stood tall and proud, determined to rebuild the pack to the strength of the old stories. Under his rule, the Crows began accepting promising recruits. No longer were they limited to taking what they desired — now they could sell their services, expanding their influence and accepting payment each individual found fitting. Puppies were welcomed into the land, whether abandoned, unwanted, or offered as payment, and Big Bad enacted the Trial of Silence to test the resolve of new blood.
He swore to restore the flock to its former glory. With the Redwoods once again flourishing, it seemed the woods had granted him his wish.
For now, at least.

All members of the pack, whether young or old, are assigned a rank suited to their skill set. Members are encouraged to carefully consider their merits before requesting a rank, as frequent changes are frowned upon, reflecting indecisiveness and a lack of self-understanding.
The pack is divided into categories, each named after a part of a crow. It is common to refer to someone either by their rank or the sector they belong to (e.g., “The caretaker will be here soon” or “I’ll go get a Claw for you”).
The pack is led by an Alpha, with the Heir serving as their second-in-command and future successor. Directly beneath them is the Flockguard: members who have excelled in their duties and advanced into head positions within their branches. They are entrusted to manage their branch alongside others holding similar roles. In times of crisis, or when counsel is required, the Flockguard may be summoned to meet with the Alpha before involving the rest of the pack.
While Flockguard members hold a higher position in the hierarchy, they are expected to continue excelling at their rank within their category and treat all pack members with respect. Failure to uphold these standards— or any abuse of authority— will result in permanent loss of their position.
Gossips hold a secret role within the pack, tasked with discreetly observing members of the Crows without detection. They report any troubles directly to the Alpha, acting as covert insiders. Due to the sensitive nature of their duties, Gossips also maintain a secondary rank to blend seamlessly with the rest of the pack.
Not all ranks are permitted to take on jobs, and each rank indicates whether members may or may not do so. While some ranks prohibit taking jobs from outsiders— and thus, receiving treasure as payment —they still allow for the accumulation of hoards; it simply must be done without relying on outsider jobs. Ranks marked in green may take jobs, while those in red cannot.
Players may suggest a new rank idea by DMing NymiiNym on Discord!
Quote: 「Categories」 Each rank is tied to a branch. While members may hold different positions within their branch, they are encouraged to work together, familiarize themselves with their fellow branchmates, and share duties whenever possible. It is easier to change positions within the same branch than to switch to a different sector entirely.
➽ Claw: Alpha, Heir, Guard, Warrior, Assassin, Hunter ➽ Eye: Counselor, Gossip, Lorekeeper, Teacher ➽ Beak: Harvestor, Healer, Caretaker, Creator, Cook, Entertainer ➽ Wing: Recruiter, Scout, Mimic, Ambassadors ➽ Feather: Youth, Recruit, Retired, Familiar ➽ Molt: Prisioners
Quote: 「Leadership」➽ The Alpha: The leader of the pack — the one all rule turns to. Their word is absolute, though each Alpha rules their pack in their own way. Some may seek counsel from the Flockguard, while others govern with an iron grip. ➽ The Heir: The second-in-command and future successor to the Alpha, the Heir is trained to a satisfactory level to rule in the Alpha’s stead when necessary. Often, the Heir is a child of the Alpha, though this is not always the case. The Alpha selects the Heir personally.
Quote: 「The Flockguard」 Four of the six branches offer opportunities for promotion. Those who demonstrate exceptional skill within their branch may be promoted to the Flockguard. Members of the Flockguard work together to maintain order within their branches, ensuring the pack runs smoothly.
➽ Ironclaw: A leader of those in the Claw branch. ➽ Darkeye: A leader of those in the Eye branch. ➽ Brightbeak: A leader of those in the Beak branch. ➽ Swiftwing: A leader of those in the Wing branch.
Quote: 「Standard Ranks」➽ Guard: Protectors of the pack, often stationed at watchpoints, outside the prisons, or assigned to accompany and protect those traveling. ➽ Warrior: The fighters, called upon when blood must be spilled, spar regularly to keep themselves ready for combat at all times. They can assist Hunters and Guards when needed. ➽ Assassin: Trained in stealth and strike from the shadows, they are supplied with poison by the pack’s creators. They are deployed when stealth is of utmost importance. They can assist Hunters when needed. ➽ Hunter: Those who provide food for the pack, trained in tracking prey and maintaining balance within the forest. They work closely with Cooks.
➽ Counselor: Members trained in de-escalating conflict, providing emotional support, and assisting the pack with internal relations. They often collaborate with Teachers to help Youths and Recruits find their ideal positions. ➽ Gossip: A secret rank known only to the Alpha, Gossips are skilled at keeping a close ear to the ground and gathering information on everything happening within the pack. They report directly to the Alpha when matters require immediate attention. Due to the covert nature of their role, Gossips maintain a secondary rank as a mask, and must remain adept in this secondary position. They may not take jobs, regardless of their secondary role. ➽ Lorekeeper: Those who maintain records of the pack’s activities, past and current jobs, member information, history, herbs uses, and more. They often assist with funerals, as they are the most knowledgeable about the pack’s members. Lorekeepers are constantly expanding their knowledge, with some even experimenting to learn more. ➽ Teacher: Members skilled in multiple ranks who instruct Youths, Recruits, and those changing ranks, often working alongside a Flockguard member proficient in the relevant branch.
➽ Harvestor: Members who gather materials from both the local forest and external sources. They frequently create lists of requested items for Scouts and Recruiters who may encounter them. Harvesters often work closely with Cooks, Healers, and Creators to ensure that necessary materials are acquired. ➽ Healers: In a pack driven by the acquisition of personal treasure— and with a penchant for violence —there are inevitably many injured or sick members. Healers maintain the pack’s health, working closely with Harvesters and Cooks to ensure both nutritious meals are prepared and medicinal herbs are collected. ➽ Caretakers: Responsible for the care of the young and pregnant, they oversee births, the raising of pups, and ensure parents receive proper support. They work closely with Healers to ensure pups reach milestones, and with Teachers to guide pups gently toward their future ranks. ➽ Creators: Makers of the pack in the broadest sense, with the term creator encompassing a variety of crafts. They may produce jewelry, mechanisms, traps, or other skilled works. Creators work closely with Harvesters, Scouts, and Recruiters to acquire materials, as well as with any other ranks that benefit from their skill. ➽ Cooks: The pack has long passed down methods of cooking, both with fire and fermentation. Cooks ensure that the food provided by Hunters and Harvesters is prepared to be both nutritious and delicious. The pack takes pride in their feasts, which benefit directly from these more lavish meals. Cooks work closely with Harvesters, Hunters, Scouts, and Recruiters to obtain the materials they need. ➽ Entertainers: Members skilled in a variety of talents designed to entertain and engage the pack. This can include singing, dancing, acting, and other performances. They are often also trained to use their art for acts of deception when needed.
➽ Recruiters: Members who frequently leave pack grounds to seek ma'duwi they believe would be valuable additions. Their primary responsibility is to bring in new blood, and a Scout often accompanies them. ➽ Scouts: Members who venture beyond the pack grounds to gather information and materials not found within the Redwoods. They keep watch over the surrounding areas and are often accompanied by a Recruiter. ➽ Mimics: Stationed in high-alert areas, Mimics pose as natives or members of a pack or colony to gather information covertly. They imitate the behavior of those around them to gain trust and extract intelligence effectively. Mimics do not take on jobs, as their primary focus is infiltration. When not deployed, they assist in other ranks in which they are skilled. ➽ Ambassadors: Sent to represent the pack when communication is needed with other groups or establishments. They are expected to embody what it means to be a true Crow, skilled in both combat and stealth. While they remain curtly polite in their dealings, they will respond with violence if provoked. When not deployed, Ambassadors assist Recruiters and Scouts.
➽ Youth: Children not yet ready to begin training in their future roles. They are permitted to shadow other members to gain experience and help determine their eventual rank. ➽ Recruit: New members of the pack who have passed the Trial of Silence and must now choose a rank. They may shadow other members to gain experience and help determine their eventual role. ➽ Retired: Members who have stepped down from active duty. Most Crows choose never to retire, though injury or permanent illness may make it necessary. Retired members often continue to assist in ranks where they are skilled, frequently lending a paw to Caretakers. ➽ Familiar: Any companion accompanying their ma’dūwi friend is considered a Familiar. All Familiars must earn their keep and assist their bonded partner.
➽ Prisioners: Those held captive within the Prison. They are provided food and shelter but are required to work on pack lands, often performing cleaning and hauling duties. With enough hard work and a long record of good behavior, some may eventually be offered a position within the pack.

Those who demonstrate exceptional skill in their rank and abilities may ascend through the ranks to join the Flockguard, where they work alongside other members to maintain the pack and serve directly under the Alpha.
Some ranks, such as Gossips, Mimics, or Ambassadors, are only attainable through promotion or special events. All methods of promotion are outlined here.
Quote: 「The Flockguard」 To become a member of the Flockguard, every aspiring Crow must complete the following steps and submit the Promotion Form to request ascension. Owners of Flockguard members may also influence pack history or suggest events and lore updates. Further details can be found in the Form post.
➽ Already have a rank under one of the four applicable sectors: Claw, Eye, Beak, Wing ➽ [3] RPs with another pack member. ➽ [5] RPs/Solos showcasing day-to-day duties related to their rank, or the completion of jobs taken from outsiders. Players may mix and match these RPs, and do some from either category. ➽ [2] Seasonal Prompts completed. ➽ [1] RP with the Alpha, where their accomplishments are presented. This step is the final one, requested at the time of posting the form. The player will post their character pleading their case in one single post, and Nym will post the Alpha's response in one single post.
Quote: 「Special Roles」 There are a few special roles that can be obtained either by acquiring a character already assigned the role, by participating in a game hosted by Nym, or through promotion. These roles are: Gossip, Mimic, and Ambassador.
To earn either the Mimic or Ambassador rank, members must complete the checklist below.
➽ Have the proper rank(s) prior to promotion: Assassin (Mimic), Lorekeeper (Ambassador) ➽ [2] RPs with another pack member. ➽ [1] Solo RP depicting a day at work. ➽ [1] RP with the Alpha, where their accomplishments are presented. This step is the final one, requested at the time of posting the form. The player will post their character pleading their case in one single post, and Nym will post the Alpha's response in one single post.
Those seeking the Gossip role must complete the checklist below.
➽ [3] RPs with another pack member. ➽ [1] Solo RP showcasing the character's stealth. ➽ [1] Recommendation from an existing Gossip owned by a different player. The recommending player will use the Gossip Recommendation form to submit their endorsement. ➽ [1] RP with the Alpha, with Nym posting first to introduce the Alpha’s interest in recruiting the Crow as a Gossip. Quote: 「Prisoners」 Prisoners looking to leave prison and return to the outside world must complete the list below.
➽ [1] RP/Solo reflecting on their capture. ➽ [3] RPs with members of the pack. ➽ [1] 1 Seasonal Prompt completed ➽ Must not have murdered a Crow; otherwise, they will remain a prisoner indefinitely.
Those who wish to also join the Crows upon losing their prisoner status must complete this list in addition to the above:
➽ [1] Recommendation from an existing Crow. The recommending player will use the Prisoner Recommendation form to submit their endorsement. ➽ [1] RP with the Alpha, where they announce their desire to join the pack, what rank they'd excel at, and why. This step is the final one, requested at the time of posting the form. The player will post their character pleading their case in one single post, and Nym will post the Alpha's response in one single post.

Each season, a Seasonal Prompt will be posted in the main thread for the Crows, offering at least two prompts that players can respond to through RPs or solo posts. Completing these prompts is required for certain promotions and can also help players accumulate RPs for breedings.
All RPs/Solos must be completed in the appropriate RP subforum before the season ends. Players will use the Seasonal Redemption form to confirm that their RP or solo post was completed on time.
Players may suggest a future prompt idea by DMing NymiiNym on Discord!

All forms relevant to joining, leaving, promotions, prompts, and more can be found here. Please post every form within the pack thread itself and wait for a quoted response from NymiiNym.
All members who wish to be a part of The Crows must post the joining form, including owners of parents posting for new births. Otherwise, it will be assumed the member is not joining the pack.
New forms may be added over time, which will be announced in the pack thread.Quote: 「Joining as an Outsider」➽ Please fill out the form in its entirety, and then wait for a pinged response from NymiiNym. ➽ In-character, it is assumed the character passed the Trial of Silence (although the form does request a brief drabble of the experience). ➽ Only ma'duwi and their companions may join The Crows as official members. ➽ If the member is a puppy, do not use this form. ➽ Flockguard/Gossip/Mimic/Ambassador roles cannot be requested — they are reserved for members who have finished the requirements, or were won with the rank already attached. ➽ If approved, your character will receive a Crows graphic, which also can be used by the owner.
