Quote: It was already late in the evening but the merchant seemed unfazed by the passing of time. He sat, poised and elegant, watching the world around him. He didn't seem bored, even as he leaned forward and laced his fingers atop the table; below it, he kept his toe tapping to some silent tune in his head. He was tall, by human standards, though while sitting down he didn't seem particularly threatening. If you didn't look at his face. He had graceful features--sharp and refined. His chin and nose tapered to a point, giving him an air of sophistication, but that, combined with his slitted eyes and pointed teeth, there was something undeniably predatory about him. He watched with a hungry gaze and a mischievous, nearly sinister smile. His ears were pointed and were prominent despite being tucked behind his vibrant, multi-colored hair. The most intrusive feature that indicated there was something not human about him were the curling horns protruding from his temples and the oil-slick black scales that brushed his cheeks and forehead. He was well dressed, in a fashion obviously otherworldly, and seemed to enjoy dressing himself up in glistening gemstones. His table was somehow both simple and overwhelming; it was draped in a dark purple tablecloth, with extravagant embroidery in different designs. Scattered neatly atop the table was an array of items that seemed to carry some magical weight to them. He did not seem intimidated in the slightest and, upon noticing that the barrier surrounding him rippled when his visitor entered, he smiled. He did not rise to meet them nor adjust his position in the slightest. He followed them with his fierce eyes and greeted, in a silky voice, "Welcome." Chillingham was excited to be out, especially now that Freddy, well, Bambi, was a magic do-gooder too! That meant she had a bit more sway in getting time to go out and help people by fighting those nasty monsters and tackling the bad guys to get them to stop vampire draining them dry. Tonight, she thought she might look after some of the other rumors of what was going on in this city when she felt like she stepped through something and saw what looked like a shoppe table up ahead. For a moment she gawked and looked around in confusion. "You weren't here just a second ago?" Confused even more as she looked between the table and the man, she moved a bit closer.

“Hm?” the man asked. He had planted his elbows on the table and leaned forward. His chin rested on the bridge of fingers and he tilted his head just slightly. “Wasn’t I?” There was something in his voice, almost smug, but too pleasant to be called such a sinister thing. He was glad to have company, maybe amused at her confusion. “Come here, let’s introduce ourselves.” He unfolded his hands, chin resting on the back of one wrist, and offered a handshake with the other. His charming smile sat perfectly in place. “I’m Almadel. What shall I call you?”

But she hadn't seen him just before she'd been walking, right? Rubbing her eyes for a momen,t she shook her head. She moved closer and nodded at his introduction. At least he was proper, so she had to try and be proper too, even if her brother wasn't here. Taking his hand, she shook it a few times. "Oh, I'm Chillingham. So what's all this?" Looking over the table as she let go, her eyes sparkled with curiosity. A lot of it looked like things she'd see in old rummage or estate sales. Some things looked even older or weirder, and that's when it hit her, and she looked at the man again and realized he was definitely not human. "Oh, wait on a minut, are you from way out there?" And thinking on it more, the name sounded familiar too, but how... she didn't recognize them, and she'd seen a few others like Tianyi but not Almadel before, so had it been just hearing the name before?

“From ‘way out there’? I suppose you could say that,” he answered sweetly. “I’m from a lot of places. And I did come from beyond the stars. It’s lovely to meet you, Chillingham, I’m so glad you’re here so I can show off my wares.” He spread his hands as if to invite her to look at his immense collection. “I am a traveling merchant, here to share my treasures. For a price, of course. I’m looking for a few good trades. Perhaps you and I can make one? Tell me, what are all the lovely ladies of Earth after these days? Or, no. Of Saturn?” he asked, eyeing her outfit. “I’ve got plenty of Saturn memorabilia.” Though it took him a moment to uncover, he seemed to have an expert ability to recall what was where on his table, and after just a few seconds, he faced her with a pendant on a chain–a small magnifying wrapped in timeless metal, engraved with Saturn symbols. He held it in his hand but offered it to her for inspection. “If you’re interested. Of course, if you’re looking for something else, I’m happy to oblige. I never let anyone leave my table unsatisfied.”

Her eyes widened, and she couldn't help but bounce excitedly on her toes. So he was another alien! That was amazing! And she took his invitation to look over things, noticing that everything looked like it came from a different place, and she had no clue where, but from what he said, it could be anywhere, and that in itself was the coolest thing she'd had a chance to be part of that didn't involve fighting. "Oh! So do you take uhmmmm...." Fishing things out of her subspace, she held out some of the Queen's money and some American money before she noticed one of the scales from the Hollow was poking out of her wallet, probably from things getting jumbled in there, but she didn't think much of it at the moment. "I've got money from home and here, but I'm not sure if that works. Is there like a space currency exchange like at the trolley station?" Looking back up at the little magnifying glass with Saturn symbols, she thought it seemed refined but also pretty neat. It could be a nice little thing to wear, and maybe she could use it to make little light reflection spots on the ceiling on boring class days to distract herself. "Oh that's pretty! I didn't know something like that came from Saturn." Not that she'd gotten to look around much while picking up broken beakers and trying not to look at the bones all over the lab. There was a graveyard too, but she was focusing on one space at a time, and with class and her brother, there wasn't much time to go up there when she could. "I do like it! But can you tell me about places you've been to! I have a creepy manor thing to look after..." Pouting slightly, she had hoped it would have been a fancy castle or something more heroic looking and not some sort of Frankenstein's lab with a ghostly mad scientist included.

“The only space currency you can rely on is a winning smile,” Almadel said, raising both hands, palm down, beneath his chin and flashing a charming, pearly white grin. He held the pose for a moment before he was moving amongst his wares. “Keep your coins and bills, they’re only good for Earth But those scales,” he hummed, tilting his head and leaning forward. “...May I? I might be willing to part with something of mine for a few of those.” He seemed briefly contemplative, and then his eyes darted up to hers. “I’ll even throw in a few ‘creepy’ stories, if you like. But you’ll have to tell me what you think is ‘creepy’. I think slime is creepy. And goats. And the oceans.”
