Odainsaker had taken up residence at a picnic table working on a garment, sewing. The body of the fabric looked very much like the opalescence of her fuku. However, it had difference accent colors - there were brilliant shades of yellow, dark hue of purple and a hot pink color.
The fabric wasn't in any particular clothing shape yet, since Odain was just now working on it but it wasn't anything in any sort of a crazy hurry to finish. The convention she was planning to attend to wasn't till close to the end of august so she had time.
Odain paused looking at her pleat work and mused, when she paused. There was an energy signature near by that caught her attention.

Iapetus had come off of patrolling and she'd thought a nice walk would be just the thing to unwind from a night of punch out small youma. She wasn't sure why the park got so much attention from chaotic elements, but it did. And at least now, she couldn't feel anything slimy against her soul.
What she did feel, though, was someone bright and clean and well, shiny. The best analogy she could think of was that Order auras felt the way fresh citrus smelled and tasted. But since such thoughts tended to get her weird looks, she'd learned to keep them to herself. Still, the prospect of stopping to chat appealed. So, she angled her path and headed towards the aura she'd felt.
After a few moments, she saw someone sitting at a table... sewing? She'd never even enjoyed trying to sew on a machine, but mad ******** props to this lady for sitting in a dark park and sewing by hand. Holy s**t.
"Evening," she called cheerfully. "Whatcha makin'?"

Odainsaker paused with a few pins held in her mouth and the needle in mid stitch. She lit up and gave a wave before removing the pins in order to be able to speak, she slid them into the pin cushion she wore on her wrist. "AH! Hello~!"
She'd been so wrapped up she hadn't noticed the other order signature show up, so this was a delight. At least it wasn't a chaos agent that found her perhaps a little more prone than she should've been. "I'm working on mocking up an outfit for a convention. I'm not really sure if it's going to be a dress or cloak or what. So I'm just doing some basic stitching of some things together to see what I like before I do finished seams."
She grinned, "I enjoy cosplaying when I'm not patrolling or working."
She hummed softly seeming to think, "Oh I'm Odainsaker by the way, squire of Cosmos. What do you do when you're not patrolling?" Odain could chatter about cosplay and things like that all night but she also knew that some people didn't understand or care for all the prattle so she wanted to make sure she included the other's interest too.

Cosplay. She was hand-sewing a cosplay. And she didn't even have a finalized plan yet. She was just sitting here, casually hand-sewing random things to see what iteration she'd like more.
Holy s**t.
Plopping down on the little patch of concrete beside the table, Iapetus watched for a moment before shaking her head. This was a different sort of dedication to a hobby. Certainly none of the things she enjoyed required her to make anything tangible.
After a moment, she answered Odainsaker's grin with one of her own and began laughing.
"Well, I would hope you enjoy it given you're doing the work by hand. Otherwise, I'd worry you had a strain of heavy masochism going and have to run away. Pleased to meetcha, I'm Iapetus," she paused and considered the squire's question. She wasn't sure she could condense everything she did. But then, Odainsaker wasn't asking her for a full account of her doings. She was just making polite conversation. "Well, there's school, of course. But since you're asking about fun things, I do muggle quidditch, axe throwing, that sort of thing. I guess I should include ballroom dance in there, but that one if done under heavy protest."
She chuckled again and shifted slightly to make herself more comfortable.
"So you got a character in mind for that?"

Odain hummed softy as she worked listening to Iapetus. "I mean we could consider I may also have some sort of masochism going on. But it's much harder to lug a sewing machine around and without a place to plug it in it's useless. So that's why I'm just tacking things enough to give it a shape."
The squire paused when the other mentioned things she enjoyed doing included muggle quidditch and axe throwing. "WAIT, wait, wait -- so there's muggle quidditch!?" Odain had looked fully away from her project. "I've seen videos on the tube but was wondering how I'd find a game."
She was totally down for that, "Look Ballroom dance can be very useful even if done under heavy protest. You could incorporate the moves into other things." Odain was thinking as she'd considered signing up for a few lessons with one of her cosplays.
"Not really?? I mean at least not yet. The character kind of sometimes takes shape as I sew and it speaks to me. I know it's weird to say. Sometimes I have characters in mind too though and those I end up having more -- solid ideas of what I want and how I want to look."
She paused as she thought. "I think though maybe a nice blonde wig with long hair might fit whoever is trying to form."

Okay, so tacking things. Not full on sewing the whole shebang by hand. Okay. Iapetus suddenly became much less worried for Odainsaker’s mental state. Girl at least used a machine once she had the basic idea down.
From where she sat she grinned up at the knight’s reaction to her own hobby and chuckled.
“Just hit up the rec center,” she offered. “They keep a list of scheduled games in case anyone wants to watch or join in. As for the dancing,” she sighed and crossed her forearms over her drawn up knees. “Look, I just don’t see a situation where doin’ a tango or foxtrot is gonna save my hide in a fight. I’m just a little stronger and hopefully more graceful than most and my legs look amazing.”
She was genuinely trying to think of other things that she could incorporate ballroom into and kept pulling up blanks. But someone like Odainsaker? Oh yeah, Iapetus could see her using dancing during one of those cosplay contests they ran at cons. Hell, being able to do an accurate dance would probably get her more points.
All the same… “I think you’re the first and only person I’ve ever met who goes into sewing with that mindset of ‘see what happens’. Seems like it’d be frustrating, but I’m not a sewist, so I probably just don’t get it. So, long blonde wig, huh? Like a golden blonde or a white blonde?”
Honestly, she was pretty interested in hearing about the possibilities in cosplay. Sure, she got to dress up for the ballroom, but the only point to that was looking extra sparkly and or flashy to get the judges eyes on you. Frankly, cosplay sounded much more entertaining.

Odainsaker looked interested when the other suggested going to the rec center, "Oh I should! It'd be a neat change from the typical festival or con I go to."
The cosmos squire seemed thoughtful when the other said she wasn't sure when a tango or foxtrot could be used, "Tango with the kicks would throw off someone something awful if they weren't expecting it."
There was a chuckle as she pictured it. However there was a pause when the other said she thought it was the first time she'd heard of anyone going we'll see what happens. "To be fair, sometimes it is but sometimes it takes an interesting set up and then it's like 'yes lets do this'. I don't always just randomly sew but if I'm out here I let the universe kind of tell me what to do."
The shade of blonde she hadn't thought about yet, however it was a good point, "Perhaps a platinum blonde, I think with maybe some little bit of color possibly on the tips depending on what accent colors I go with."
There was a nod as she held up what she'd had tacked. It seemed that the outfit was heading towards an empire waistline. The squire looked at the outfit judgingly. "What do you think so far?" She looked towards Iapetas when she asked the question.

Keeping her gaze set firmly on the small pile of fabric in Odainsaker’s hands, Iapetus privately thought that the squire was a bit too free-spirited for her tastes. The idea of letting the universe tell you what it wanted a bunch of fabric to become was all entirely too airy fairy. But even as she thought that, she had to admit that Odainsaker had undeniable skill with a needle. So, maybe it was less airy fairy and more just plain ability and she only described it as letting the universe guide her.
It was what Iapetus would choose to believe anyway.
She listened a bit idly as the squire pondered shades of blonde and tried to rack her own brains for blonde characters with colored tips. Other than Harley Quinn, she was drawing a blank. Clearly there was more to cosplay than just picking a character and cobbling something up. Maybe she should start paying more attention to her own dance costumes. It couldn’t hurt.
Much.
Shaken from her thoughts by Odainsaker holding up the tacked together fabric, Iapetus studied it, not really knowing what she was looking at or for. About the only thing she recognized was the empire waistline and that caused her to blurt out the first thing to came to mind.
“You could totally pull off a Regency Harley Quinn.”

Odainsaker seemed to think as she placed the garmet back down on the table and started tacking a few other areas together and paused when Iapetus suggested Regency Harley Quinn.
There was a pause and she seemed thoughtful. "Ohh, that's a good idea. Which Harley though, I do like the newest Harley Quinn cartoon. Then there's the live action Harley or the old school Harley...." She was debating maybe she could pull off that Harley and add some elements of Poison Ivy into the outfit as well. It would give a neat nod.
"I also need to figure out how to make her bat and hammer as props and what I want to use to make them. Because even if she's Regency Harley Quinn, she needs her bat and hammer." There was a chuckle and she nodded, "It sounds like a fun idea thank you Iapetus, I might also air brush or dip dye the bottom of the dress so that it has the classic red and black Harley colors as an ombre affect."
Odain was very thoughtful on this on, it was a good suggestion.

Holy crap, she’d had a good idea about a thing she knew nothing about. Before she could feel too pleased with herself Odainsaker began to ask more questions and Iapetus was once again adrift in the sea of pop culture with only a very small raft of knowledge to cling to. She’d only ever seen the second Suicide Squad movie because she’d thought that Jai Courtney and Idris Elba were kind of hot. Then Jai Courtney’s character had snuffed it in the first few minutes and she’d hung on from that point purely for Idris Elba. Still, she remembered she’d liked the movie. It had been delightfully campy and she’d really liked the character of Harley in it.
Maybe not enough to hunt up other media featuring her, but enough to learn the general gist of the character. And to discover that she totally shipped Ivy and Harley. In theory at least, since, again, she’d made no effort to really watch the cartoons or read the comics. WELP!
“Don’t do the weird pastel pink and blue version,” she said, having seen pictures and formed some Opinions. Besides, if you add Ivy elements, the green’ll look better with the red and black. But do you really need to lug around a bat and a hammer? If you’re really going for the regency angle, wouldn’t something like a cricket bat be better?”
She was entirely in over her head, though she did preen a bit when Odainsaker thanked her for the idea. She might not know Cosplay, but she knew color and style. And, she knew about snazzing up a costume. She’d certainly done enough of that during dance competitions.
“Do the airbrush,” she advised. “You’ll have better control and the paint, in theory at least, can be washed out if you ******** up. Too many ways to mess things up when dye is involved.”
She shuddered slightly for effect, but was still mostly serious. She still had nightmares about the mess she and her mother had made trying to dye one of her dance costumes in the bathroom at home. Never. Again.
“Yeah, definitely air brush.”

Odain pulled a book from her subspace and took a second to start jotting down notes and doodling a kind of quick and rough sketch of what it could be. Though she was missing colors she just noted colors and held it up for the other to see. She did still include notes of ivy on the dress as well, that would probably be embroidered to a point.
"It's a terrible drawing but figured I'd start jotting notes while they're swirling."
There was a grin, "Also ohhh Cricket bat sounds like something Harley would totally have, that's a great idea!"
She hummed, "Also I do enjoy Tara Song's version of Harley Quinn."
There was a pause when the other said air brush and nodded with a soft chuckle, "True, fabric dyes can be very unforgiving and leave stains everywhere if you don't have a good place for it. Though they do have a dye remover now if something were to go wrong using fabric dye."
She seemed thoughtful, "If you wanted we could hang out one day at a con, if you wanted to cosplay even something simple like a bounding version of a character I'd be happy to help!"
The cosmos squire was grinning, it seemed like her new friend was having as much fun as she was figuring this outfit out. After all cosplaying was so much fun with another person.

Truly, Iapetus had zero idea what Tara Strong version meant, but she nodded politely anyway. She could at least take satisfaction in being helpful with a topic she knew so little about outside of stupid stereotypes. Judging by Odainsaker’s enthusiastic reaction, she’d been very helpful indeed. It was a good feeling. But as the talk shifted to dye and before Iapetus could develop a thousand yard stare as memories of her own dying experiences came rushing up, the knight swiftly shifted the conversation.
Cons couldn’t be that much crazier than some of the dancing competitions she’d been dragged to over the years. For one thing, a con actually sounded fun. But rather than commit whole-heartedly on the spot, she erred on the side of caution.
“I mean, that sounds great and I’d love to take you up on it, but it really depends on the timing, you know? If I have a competition, I have to commit to that first. Dad sort of… made him helping to pay for college contingent on that. It’s a damned pain in the a**, but whatcha gonna do?”
She wasn’t sure she knew enough about any particular property to cosplay something, but then Odainsaker whipped out more new-to-her lingo and left Iapetus’ brain spinning.
“Sorry, but what the hell is bounding? Sounds like it should be kinky, but I’m guessing it isn’t?”
Shifting a little on the cool pavement, Iapetus made herself a little more comfortable. It seemed like she had a fair bit to learn here.

Odain grinned, "That's fair, there's almost always some small get together happening so even if it's not the larger cons maybe we could get together for a small meet. I can send you a list of dates and things of ones I know coming up!"
The squire tried not to chuckle, "Bounding is --- well it's cosplay light. I suppose it could be kinky to the right person. But that's a whole other can of worms."
Odain sat there and explained bounding to Iapetus, spending as long as the other wanted talking and just chilling while she worked. She had lost track of time and it came time to part Odain made sure that if Iapetus wanted her contact information that she gave it to the senshi.
