Another youma dispatched back to…wherever the youma went when someone dusted them. Sailor Tempesti had only the vaguest idea of where that actually was. She assumed it was somewhere in the Negaverse, but that was only a nebulous concept far removed from her daily life. Unlike the youma who seemingly made it a priority to wander the streets for starseeds. She didn’t particularly care for that hobby. You’d think they would find some other way to occupy their time. But the important thing was that for now that one wasn’t going to trouble any of the innocent civilians who visited this park. The little purple wisp that had stubbornly accompanied her for the past several nights showed no sign of losing interest in her activities, despite floating off whenever she encountered something that wanted to fight.

Before she could sink into the complacency that accompanied neutralizing a nearby threat, a hideous and unfortunately familiar scraping echoed from someplace in the shadowed overgrowth. She didn’t even have to look for the disembodied red glow she knew hovered in the darkness to understand that she needed to prepare for a fight. Again.

The general hum of the golden orb at her shoulder was an appreciated, familiar sound. That it matched the color of the Gold Star Charm she found that evening and added to her stash in subspace only amused her further.

The wisp certainly had a better sense of things than she did, though, as Solaris honed in on the energy signature of another senshi, and the wisp removed itself from her shoulder to ease itself away. For a moment, she wasn't sure why--then the sound of a choked, groaning croak hit her, and she groaned herself.

Less choked and broken sounding, though.

Didn't take her too long to locate the Super Senshi--oh, a familiar looking one, at that. The Order meeting, she was pretty sure..?--and sure enough, the sound of talons carving into the ground reached out from the darkness. Along with red glowing eyes. "...why are they all running amuck? Or's it just the same one enjoying some fights?" Her question was a mumble, more to herself, but she offered a smile and louder to the senshi said, "City's always got something going on, doesn't it?"

The chicken, at least, didn't seem to enjoy conversation--it let out a loud shrieking bawwwk and charged forward.

Solaris recognized the bird before Tempesti had a chance to warn her. It was unfortunate that the two of them were acquainted, but at least she knew that the other senshi knew what to expect in this…less than ideal situation. She was fairly certain that she knew her from somewhere, maybe in that giant horrible dragon fight but most likely Celadon’s meeting considering that was the only time she’d been in a larger gathering and not focused almost entirely on trying not to die. Shoving these thoughts aside, she sprinted after the monstrous chicken.

“I have no idea if it’s the same one, but if it is it definitely holds a grudge.” Fond reminiscences about the fowl creature(s) weren’t helpful, however, and she leapt forward in an attempt to land on top of the thing.

"What, we got a whole flock of them around maybe? ...actually that could explain the insane number of eggs." It was a slightly bemusing thought at least, if least important at the moment. As Tempesti lunged forward, Solaris bolted out of the way of the creature's path, quickly finding a decently sized branch shoved off into the underbrush. Victim of countless storms, probably.

Picking it up, she didn't figure it'd do much against the chicken, but hey. She wasn't about to use her magic with someone else literally right on top of the chicken...

The creature in question was slightly discombobulated by the separation of its targets, pace slowing just slightly as it seemed to consider it's next focus. When it felt a body land on it though, it let out a bwuuuuuuuuuk and began to shudder and shake its grease-weighted wings about.

Tempesti was torn. While she did intend and want to restrain the thing before it could reach the other senshi, it seemed like a distinct possibility that no amount of showers would eliminate the smell she knew now clung to her skin and fuku. At least it seemed disoriented. The knowledge that she probably couldn’t kill the thing was a reassurance, horrible or not she didn’t want it (or them) dead. Solaris’ egg comment made her sincerely hope that it was multiple animals. She hadn’t considered the unfortunate implications of a single monster bird laying all of these eggs. Though maybe that would explain its perpetually bad mood.

Springing clear of the bird as it flailed, she whipped her head around, scanning the shadows for the eggs she knew had to be nearby.

As Tempesti moved away from the chicken, Solaris instead took the moment to move forward. It still seemed a bit discombobulated, and she was more than happy to take advantage of that. She still had no idea what this thing's weakness was, though she could recall the mournful cry of the last one she faced when it saw its eggs had been smashed…

It hadn't been dusted by her magic, it'd still stood despite the singed feathers…

"So you know much about these things?"

She called over to the other senshi as Solaris herself took a swing at the chicken's legs with the branch. It stumbled and flailed, falling onto its side and lashing out at her with its sharp talons. The Eternal gave a sharp grin as she caught the hits on the branch, not needing the shattering wood as any evidence to how lethal those damn talons could be--she'd seen the damage they'd done to stone.

After several far too long frantic seconds of searching, a small flash of eggshell beside Sailor Solaris caught Tempesti’s eye. It seemed that the beastly chicken had concealed this particular clutch beneath some brush. The other senshi’s question was, of course, a perfectly reasonable one. She just wished that she had answers beyond what superficial information she’d been able to glean from her entirely too frequent encounters with them.

“Only that they go away when the eggs get smashed!” Even with the general hostility of these birds, and the hollowness of the eggs, she still felt a bit bad for destroying the clutches. Hopefully they understood that they hadn’t lost any potential hatchlings. “They’re right behind you, under a bush!”

Solaris needed a distraction, something to make it safe to turn her back.

“Harrowing Storm!”

The harpies surged forth in a rush of wind and lightning, surrounding the squawker and hopefully giving Solaris enough time to get to the eggs.

Oh... so it was the eggs..? Interesting.

"Got it," she shouted, moving back immediately from the flailing chicken when Tempesti raced in with her magic. Interesting as that was to watch, Solaris turned to look for the things in question--ah!

The small cluster was indeed within the brush she'd just grabbed her branch with, albeit a bit further in. Relieved, she murmured a small apology before slashing the branch through the thin shells, the collection erupting into nothing and sounding like glass shattering as they broke.

...she did spot an amber star charm down there, plucking that up before she turned back to make sure Tempesti didn't need help with the weird bird.

As Solaris smashed the eggs, Tempesti began to prepare another barrage of harpies in case this was the one time that wouldn’t be the way to make the monstrous fowl leave. Fortunately for her, Solaris’ efforts proved effective, prompting an ear splitting screech from the bird’s gullet as it vanished into the foul, oily smoke she was growing unluckily used to.

“Ugh…” She managed to suppress a gag this time, “I will never be alright with that smell. Are you alright?” As she spoke she scanned the other senshi, looking her over for injuries. Despite their fearsome appearance (and smell) these birds didn’t seem particularly skilled in battle.

Solaris flinched at the wail, dropping the branch to cover her ears. Gagging slightly, she moved back somewhat from where the creature had vanished, hoping the wind would take the stench elsewhere.

Still, she offered a grin to Tempesti, giving the other a once-over as well to confirm they were both alright. "Yeah, not a scratch. You did great at distracting that thing, likely would have handled it without me no issue." She was impressed--the fowl weren't as devastating as perhaps some entities had been recently, but they weren't pushovers. "Sounds like you've dealt with a few of them already."

Relieved to hear the other senshi confirm that she was unharmed, she returned her smile. In the poorly lit scuffle, she’d failed to notice the woman’s wings (her actual wings) among all of the other feathers in play and she couldn’t help but admire them. Another deep space senshi, it seemed. Or there were winged Earth humans she had yet to meet, given her experiences over the past year she wasn’t ready to entirely dismiss possibilities like that.

“I have.” She made a playfully horrified face. “More than a few in the past couple of weeks. I don’t know what it is but I keep finding them. I’m Sailor Tempesti, by the way.” The absurdity of the situation left the hint of a laugh in her voice. “How about you? Have you met a lot of these…charming birds?”
