The Reservoir (4) : The Destiny City Reservoir opened about two years ago and is an easy escape from the big city. It's a five minute drive outside of the Eastern side of town and features clear water and sandy beaches--although, the sand here is notorious for squeaking when you step on it. It's a hot spot for all fun summer activities, but it's been in the news for mysterious reports of some strange, aquatic monster. Some accounts say they've spotted a twenty foot long, snake like creature capable of rearing a long neck high above the water. It's hard to tell if the videos are doctored, but there are too many rumors to dismiss easily. Something strange might be lurking deep in the water. Or it's just a hoax to get people out to the Reservoir!

But…Sometimes, people feel like something is grabbing their ankle, even if they are just wading in the shallow end. In the deeper parts of the water, it gets a little more intense: something has been said to grab onto ankles and pull. People have been warned about dangerous pranks, but so far no one has been caught. In the shallow end, anyone unfortunate enough to be targeted may feel themselves being knocked off their feet and tugged into the water; anyone in deep water may feel a firm grip on their ankle, tugging them lower and lower. Somehow, anyone it targets is freed--either by wriggling and fighting, or because someone intervenes and pulls the would-be victim up. No one has drowned in the lake. Yet. It's impossible to see who, or what, is doing this, but it usually gives up after one failed attempt. Usually.

While you may find yourself harassed by the supposed cryptid, or see something visibly odd in the distance, you cannot take any pictures of the creature. Who knows if you're even being attacked by the cryptid–or just another youma?

Noa has heard the rumors about the Reservoir and frankly, she wasn't a baby-backed b***h. Pregnant or not, if the loch ness wanted to come get the smoke then she was more than happy to deliver. Sitting in the shallow end, she was kicking her feet and wriggling her toes while staying close to her new friend Sakura. Her shaw was getting wet but that’s why she had her two piece swimsuit on. Haji was active, but he wasn't abusing her bladder for once, which was a relief. She could enjoy the water and the sun without having to struggle boat and get up to find the restroom before she pissed herself.

“Sak! Are you going to dip your toes in at least?”

The small woman rested back on her hands, sun hat about to fall off while she looked upside down at the taller woman not too far from her.

Sakura had heard the rumors, and from what she could remember, it wouldn't be out of place in the city for Nessie herself to show up with how weird things got. But still, she couldn't help but worry about her friend being reckless. If this was more than just a curious magical critter, it could be quite dangerous indeed for the woman sitting in the shallow water.

Sighing softly, Sakura got up and brushed the sand off of her before making her way to stand ankle deep in the water. She had picked a tasteful deep red bikini, reminiscent of the same red as her fuku as Ako, and had her hair pulled up into a high ponytail with oversized designer sunglasses resting atop her head. She wasn't often fond of the beach or getting wet, an irony not lost on her as the Senshi of firestorms, but for Noa, she supposed she could make an exception.

”If you get pulled under, so help me….” She sighed again and shook her head, reaching down to gently adjust the sunhat on Noa’s head with a smile.

”Oooooh I'm not gonna get pulled under.” She smiled brightly and splashed some water on her legs, “Nessie wouldn't want a human with extra to her!” In fact, she was enjoying the coolness of the water and the overall vibe she was picking up here. Was that a seashell?! Oh s**t that was a seashell! Noa got onto her hands and knees. Quickly crawling towards where the seashell was located, sitting with her legs folded under her as soon as she got to it and picked it up. “Sak! It's uhhhh….One of those unicorn looking shells!” She took a closer look at it, “AND IT'S ******** PIIIIINK!” There were other people looking at her strangely but she didn't care, this one was coming home with her.

Maybe she could get lucky and find another one? Maybe a…Pearlescent one?

The hunt was on and the small pregnant woman was back onto her hands and knees again, searching the sand for treasure. On her adventure, she found an assortment of shells, all different sizes and colors. By the time she looked up [that hyper focus was a b***h sometimes], she was a bit away from her friend but no biggie, she could make it back in a minute or two. Noa sat back in the water again, kicking her feet and placing all her shells in the bag she had, “SAK! I found one that might be red I think!” She was about to get up when something wrapped around her ankle, “Huh? Seaweed? Is there seaweed in a reservoi----!!!!” Next thing she knew, she was being pulled rather quickly into the water, towards the deeper part. “s**t s**t s**t shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit! SAAAAAAAAAAAK!”

Guess Nessie wanted the smoke today apparently.

Sakura watched with fond amusement as Noa crawled around in the shallows, laughing softly. When she started to get further out, Sakura waded after her for safety. She began picking up shells as well, wanting to add to Noa’s growing little collection, but they all were promptly discarded when her friend yelled. Well. s**t.

She couldn't transform. Not with so many people around. s**t. Launching herself forward, Sakura grabbed onto Noa’s hand tightly and wrapped her arms around her. Pulling her body closer, Sakura kicked at whatever had hold of her friends ankle and prayed it would let go. The loch ness biyatch was not going to be taking her friend, thank you VERY much!

Thank god she came with a friend, otherwise she wasn't sure if she would become a drowning statistic. Probably the first since there hasn't been any recorded drownings in the reservoir so far. The tentacle or whatever it was did let her ankle go as soon as it felt Sakura’s kick, which allowed her friend to safely pull her from the water. While a normal person would be scared shitless [yes she was admitting she is the problem as usual], Noa blinked several times before her face turned to one of anger. If it wasn't for her friend holding onto her, Noa would have marched right back into that water with a dagger. “What the ******** Nessie!?” Her arms flailed while she tried to get back into the water, “Come at me again b***h! I'll ******** stab you!”

Nessie tried to be sneaky but the damned thing was lucky she couldn't power up right now!

Glaring at the water, Sakura continued to help her friend to shore, sighing as she kept an arm around her to stop her from doing anything extra special stupid. ”No fighting cryptids today please, Noa. I'm pretty sure Aloy would be irritated if I lost a member of his team.” Despite the dry tone of her protestation, she had a wry smile on her face.

She hadn't expected to vibe with the woman so well, to click so quickly with her, but it was kind of wonderful that she had. She knew she wasn't the easiest person to get along with and could be awkward or prickly, but none of that seemed to bother Noa, and for that she was grateful.

Giving a quiet, amused laugh, Sakura helped Noa back up to shore and sat down with her on the large beach blanket beneath the umbrella she had brought. ”Not to say I told you so buuuuut…” She couldn't help the teasing grin she gave her friend before holding her hand out. In her palm was a small, pearlescent shell. ”On the bright side, I did grab this for you and manage to hold onto it.”

Oh! Aloy!

Yeahhhh she didn't want to give the poor man any grey hairs.

Sighing, and trying not to pout [that wouldn't look so mature], Noa sat down with her friend and rolled her eyes playfully. “Mmmmmn hummmn….Well, that doesn't count so…” She grinned, then gasped with delight at the shell presented to her. “Oh thank you Sak!” She gave the taller woman a hug, carefully taking the shell and placing it in her bag. She laid down on the big blanket, on her side while placing a pillow beneath her stomach. “Nap with me? Or at least sunbathe? I feel like we should be dry before either one of us goes home.”

Sakura laughed softly and gently patted her friend on the back before sitting down beside her and sprawling out. ”I can sunbathe, sure. But no more getting in the water til that thing is gone. I'll text Aloy about it later and let him know that we confirmed that weird s**t is, in fact, in the water.” She sighed and closed her eyes, enjoying the warmth of the sun on her skin. ”.....b***h made me lose my favorite sunglasses too. I'll set the thing on fire later….” There was humor in her sour tone, and a wry grin on her face as she hoped to make her friend laugh.
