The Meteor Shower (3) : It wouldn't be a star festival without a meteor shower! Right on time, a beautiful array of shooting stars graces the night sky. This time of year is unnaturally clear and it's incredibly easy to see the stars. Most meteor fragments appear to be little white or yellow lights streaming across the sky, but if you watch closely enough you may find that some of them seem to be a whole rainbow of colors. The scientists have reported that it's just different components burning up as they enter the atmosphere, but there's something undeniably magical about it.
Noa hated being alone.
However, Ainsley was asleep, their cat was off somewhere, and Idri was out on patrol, which meant that she was stuck at the house with her thoughts and her son who liked to remind her that yes, he was still inside her uterus wreaking havoc. She sighed, rubbing her stomach softly. “At least mommy will have you to keep her company in three months right Haji baby?” Maybe she could go outside? The thought was appealing so she got up and made her way to the backyard, sitting in the first available lawn chair. She shifted it so that it would lay back, looking up at the clear night sky. While she stared, her thoughts began to wander, which wasn't really a bad thing per se but still.
Of all the thoughts she had at the moment, the loudest was the one she wanted to ignore the most:
Will I be a good mom?
She came from a loving family and all but honestly out of her and Ryu, she was the most reckless, said pregnancy was current proof of that. Noa considered herself lucky that Idirian was the father of her child, she wasn't sure if she would be as lucky had it been anyone else...Well, maybe Waru but that man was more chaotic than her really. As much as she loved the big gentle giant, responsibility was the last thing she would think of when it came to him. However, the fact that he could be in a poly relationship meant that mayyyyybe he was learning, or still being chaotic and married on a whim [Which she didn't think that was the case].
Still, as excited as she was, Noa was still scared. What if she sucks? What if parenthood gets to be too much for her and Idri's relationship [Which started out as a mostly sexual attraction she wasn't going to lie on that one]? Raising a child was vastly different from raising an infant, and while her boyfriend had experience raising his sister, she didn't think that he would be ready to do it all over again in addition to raising a teenager. If she were in Idri's shoes, there was no doubt that she would go crazy and probably break down at some point. However, the man has proven time and time again that he was WAY more mature than she was at this stage in life.
Which is why she eventually ended up falling for him somewhere down the line in their relationship.
Soon enough, meteors started flying across the sky, in pretty white and yellow colors. It kind of reminded her of Tinkerbelle or some other magical fairy. Her eyes focused a bit more, gasping when she saw the white and yellow turn into all sorts of colors from the rainbow. "Wow! Baby, mommy can see all the colors of the rainbow in the sky!" She rubbed her stomach gently, "Next year, you'll be able to see the stars too and I'm sure you'll be just as fascinated as I am." She couldn't wait to hold her little boy in her arms and kiss his head while rocking him to sleep. She might have her doubts about being a good mom, but she knew she would have the support needed to improve.
Her little boy would be worth it.
