Poultrygeist (15) : As Destiny City is a bustling metropolis, it’s not unexpected that there should be some strange animals running the streets. Sometimes it’s a tiger, sometimes a monkey, sometimes a chicken. Sometimes it’s something worse. Strange egg clusters have appeared in Destiny City’s parks and officials aren’t really sure what they are; these eggs have nothing inside of them. Though it’s an anomaly, they are chalking it up to teenaged pranks. However, they have advised to just leave the eggs as they are. Nobody wants to say why, but if you’re out late at night, you’ll find out. In the darkness, whispered between the sounds of the city: a guttural, rasping cluck. The creature stands on stilt-like legs, rooted to the ground with razor-sharp talons. It wears a cloak of long, oily feathers that drag on the ground with a sinister scraping. If you stare into the darkness, piercing red eyes stare back at you. That’s all it takes for a confrontation: a mangled bird, maybe a chicken in another life, comes barreling out at you. It stands easily as tall as a person, but the proportions are all wrong. The smell of sulfur follows it as it lunges, pecking and screaming and scratching as it attempts to chase you away. Maybe, from the nests full of empty eggs. The battles are fierce, but fleeting; it will viciously try to chase you away but the effects are always the same: at some point, the eggs are crushed. As always, there’s nothing inside of them, but with one final wail, the bird will vanish into a plume of foul smoke.
Note: If you choose to encounter one of these bird-like creatures, your character will recognize they are not youma. It is impossible to tell if it is a single entity or if there are many. The bird does not seem to understand or care to listen to human words. It will always disappear in a malodorous plume of smoke and leave nothing but a foul odor and a clutch of empty, broken eggs behind. This RP can be used as a battle requirement as long as there are two powered characters involved; you must be interacting with another player’s powered character. This does not count as the one youma battle per stage for growth so characters can still use an NPC youma battle as well as this one for growth purposes. This can only be used as a battle requirement once per character, but there is no limitation for how many times a player can use this prompt.
Carrollite had heard about this crazy demon chicken from her sister. Labradorite didn't normally make s**t up but this sounded crazy even from a negaverse stand point. It wasn't a youma? Well what was it?
The lieutenant decided she had to check it out for herself. She was really hoping her sister wasn't pulling her leg just to get her out and doing things. She had more interesting things to attend to like Raves. Really she needed to level up so she could actually leverage the energy of the party for the negaverse. So there was a sigh as Carrol found herself among the eggs.
"Maybe Labs was right, I should get out more and see what I can do. Staying as a lieutenant isn't helping the cause any." She had her string of lights drawn waiting to see if any demon chicken would come charging at her. After all she was softly poking the eggs with the toe of her boot and her sister did say the thing didn't like people messing with the eggs.
Maybe it just wasn't feeling it today - or the whole thing was a prank. Either way she was here now, she might as well make a go of investigating what was going on. The lieutenant was blissfully unaware of the demon chicken watching her from the bushes as well as any one who might be in the surrounding area.

It wasn't unusual for Lysanna to slip out of the communal household that the Vanguard had claimed as their own safe space. More often than not the destination that she had in mind was the plot of land she'd cultivated into a garden. It was soothing work, gardening, and it brought her joy to watch when the various new shoots of growth began to poke through the dirt. Only once had she had an encounter with another being that had followed her to this tucked away location and Lysanna still thought of Cernunnos often. The notebook she had thought to leave behind had disappeared but anybody could have spotted it and claimed it as their own. The Velencian just hoped that the otherwordly senshi had been the one to do so.
Upon finishing the task that she had set out to do this evening, namely turning the soil over in preparation for a new batch of seeds did Lysanna cast one more glance over her shoulder to the clearing as she departed it before beginning what would be the trek home. Given she hadn't expected anyone to drop by unexpectedly the cadet had dropped her glamour upon her arrival and merely decided to keep it off for the time being. No one would glimpse her as she traversed the well-known path to the place that she called home for the moment.
Although there wasn't any fear of being seen as she truly was, Lysanna did silence her comtech even as it signalled that she was somewhat near to an agent of the negaverse. The rustling of leaves though to her right caused the cadet to pause. Her scan showed nothing of an abnormal nature so what was it that was causing the leaves to rustle. Feeling as if she were suddenly under intense scrutiny did Lysanna step off of the path she'd been travelling on in order to get into the larger open space that was to her immediate right. At least this was better but the sensation of being watched still lingered and Lysanna caught sight of an individual standing in amongst what seemed to be a nest full of eggs before sighing.
You will never make a living as a spy, she chided to herself even as she made the attempt to pass off her oddly hued skin as totally normal. This individual surely was what her comtech was reacting to and she grimaced. Definitely an agent. I wonder if they know to leave us alone as we still have a truce.
"Should you be doing that," she called out to the unknown agent.
Carrollite paused when someone called asking if she should be doing that. The lieutenant looked up curiously towards the person who called her. They were an odd color, and well she hadn't met someone who looked like them before but she thought she'd heard about them.
"Oh... well I'm doing some additional recon my sister wanted to see if my results were the same." She replied waving her hand with the string of Christmas lights in it. Honestly she felt like she'd been sent into a trap by her sister it didn't help they enjoyed pranking each other from time to time.
There was a pause, "Have you heard about these things? Weird demonic chickens apparently that are over sized??"
Carrollite wasn't interested in really picking fights tonight -- but instead finding out useful information might be a good way to go right? "I'm Carrollite by the way, still just a lieutenant at the moment but I hope to change that. It's a pleasure to meet you." She said offering the other her free hand.

Lysanna glanced to the nest that the other, Carrollite, was still standing in before she shook her head. There hadn't been any information shared amongst those of the Vanguard so she was sort of in the dark about what exactly was going on.
Honestly it was probably the best avenue to go down and admit that there wasn't anything information wise that she could share with the agent. Lysanna took in the string of Christmas lights in the agent's hand before noticing the outstretched one that was free for shaking. Taking the hand and giving it a gentle shake in greeting, Lysanna sighed.
"I've not heard of any demonic chickens running amok. I've not been around looking for things like that though. It's nice to meet you Carrollite, I'm Lysanna."
Was she supposed to keep the agent on her good side? The cadet tapped her cheek in thought before she remembered the rest of what Carrollite had spoken of, "so what are you expecting to happen? You mentioned a sister having an experience. Are you hoping for the same thing to happen to you? And how or when does the chicken arrive?"
Carrollite seemed interested, this person hadn't heard about demonic chickens. Maybe her sister was playing a prank on her, it was an elaborate one at that if it was a prank. "Pleased to meet you Lysanna!"
She shrugged softly, "Yeah my sister said she had came to check out these reports and was speaking to someone else -- the chicken thing charged at them for messing with the eggs."
She seemed thoughtful, "I honestly half expect this is an elaborate ruse put on by my sister because she said they're not youma. You can't feel them - there's no energy signature."
She nudged an egg out of the nest softly, she wasn't trying to break it in case it was rotten. "Supposedly the eggs are empty but I - don't trust it...."
No sooner than Carrollite had finished the comment she heard a noise from nearby bushes and glanced over. "What was that?"

So if messing with the eggs brought on the encounter with the chicken it was a good thing that Lysanna had thus far refrained from poking at the objects inside the nest. Her purple hair shifted a little in the breeze that sprung up and she pushed the errant strands back to sit behind her ears before she made note of the sound that Carrollite must've experienced it as well. The cadet moved her hand to the weapon that was attached to her side before the next thing she noticed was what she believed to be a trace of sulfur on the breeze. Why would that be registering on her radar?
Taking a moment to detach the axe from its holder on her waist the Velencian took in Carrollite's overall status before taking a few steps away from the nest she was standing near. If something were to come out, rushing them, then she wanted to have a good angle on where to throw her weapon. There was no desire to harm whatever could be out there but Lysanna wouldn't let herself get mauled for just being near to what could be the true target of the chicken's rage.
"Maybe you should exit the nest," Lysanna began saying with hesitation. She didn't want to tell an agent what to do, but maybe, in this case, it couldn't hurt.
Carrollite was looking around because she heard it and then smelled it as well. "Oh... it's coming." She said softly before nodding when Lysanna said she should move out of the nest there was a pause as she noticed something shimmer as she started to stand up, picking up an Emerald Star Charm the Lieutenant looked interested in it as she turned it in her hands.
"Yeah, I think you're right." There was a rustling in the bush as the lieutenant stood slowly and stepped out of the nest. She turned her head towards the bush, "... I think it's found us." She said pulling her Christmas light string taut.
She hadn't expected the creature to let some sort of blood curdling scream as it charged. "Oh, s**t."

Lysanna was curious about what item it was that Carrollite had found as she stepped out of the nest but the question died on her lips when the creature that emerged from the bushes finally revealed its presence. Her eyes narrowed even as it made the effort to beeline towards the agent and her hand that held her weapon hefted it experimentally and even as the chicken ran by did Lysanna make the best effort to throw the axe as the chicken ran past her.
If it made the chicken break off its pursuit in order to charge at her then she'd be at the ready. Her weapon was probably just a little bit more dangerous than a string of lights.
Waving her arms up and down Lysanna began shouting at the chicken, hoping to at least divert the creature's attention.
Carrollite watched as the chicken-monster was charging at her but when the axe was thrown it seemed to slow slightly and look at the weapon that flew past it - clipping it's back.
When Lysanna started waving their arms and shouting the chicken started towards them. Carrollite looked around quickly and sighed running towards the chicken. "Welp."
The lieutenant jumped on the chickens back and flung the christmas lights around it's neck and into her opposite hand. "Get a long little chicken." She said with her makeshift reins trying to direct it away from Lysanna so she could grab her axe back.
However, Carrollite was bracing herself for the chicken to start bucking or whatever it was chickens did if someone tried to ride them.

In all of her days so far on Earth Lysanna had never seen such a display of what could have been silliness from an agent. She, though, thought what Carrollite was doing wasn't silly, but brave. The agent was putting herself in danger in order to assist. The time wasn't going to go to waste. The cadet raced towards the spot that her axe lay before she picked it up. This time she took a few seconds to study the creature's movements. While she didn't want to harm it too much, she did need to convince it to move along.
Huffing silently the cadet began to match the speed of the chicken as best as she could in order to draw in a little closer to it. At one point she grimaced before she let her axe fly towards the feet of the thing: the hope being that with the momentum of her thrown weapon would somehow trip the creature up long enough for Carrollite to hop off ... and to possibly down it so it could be persuaded to leave them alone.
When the Cadet had her axe back Carrollite nodded, looked like she'd managed to keep the chicken from getting Lysanna, but the fact of the matter was the issue that it was still a big demon chicken and since it wasn't a youma it needed to go.
When the axe flew at the legs of the creature and hit them the chicken fell to the ground and the lieutenant ended up tumbling off rolling into the clutch of eggs. "Oh... opps."
They weren't all broken but the issue was, she looked towards the chicken expecting it to be super mad. However, it seemed mournful that it's eggs had been broken. Not to mention the chicken had a certain type of unpleasant odor, she was pretty sure it was in her uniform. The lieutenant held up the last egg that wasn't smashed. "Well... this is the only one left."
She wondered if she needed to smash it too in order to get the chicken to move along.

Lysanna had once more retrieved her axe from where it had landed as the chicken's run-and-stumble registered as possibly the worst outcome in this little situation she had found herself in. The cadet rushed over to the agent before turning to face down the chicken as Carrollite held up the only unbroken egg. The creature that had been so menacingly forward in its rush to attack the people it saw as intruders to the nest now almost seemed indecisive as to what it should do next. Being ridden around like a bucking bronco, er, clucking chicken probably hadn't helped but even as it stared them down from a distance did Lysanna try to get at least a simple scan on it started before she turned around and did a scan of the remaining egg that the agent held onto. Her mind was processing the entire encounter from start to finish and she grimaced.
"I think maybe that's the only way for this situation to cease. Given that it seems like the other eggs have nothing in them, it would be logical to assume the same with this egg. Also the creature seems almost frozen with indecision now that some of the eggs are no longer viable," Lysanna turned to watch the chicken once more before she sighed, "I dislike the idea, but perhaps its for the best if we destroy this last egg."
Carrollite seemed curious what Lysanna was doing but it gave the Cadet time to do whatever it was. She'd ask about it after they dealt with the current issue at hand. The fact the chicken ghost demon thing seemed unsure and perhaps a bit sad made the lieutenant feel a bit bad about having to crush the eggs but it was fine.
This was fine. "You're right, I dislike the idea as well -- rather suddenly as it seems kind of sad too but . . . " The lieutenant chucked the egg down on the ground hard like one would do a football when they won a game and she watched carefully as the chicken gave one more ear splitting scream cluck thing and suddenly was gone in a cloud of smoke that once the smell reached the lieutenant she made a noise and tried to cover her nose and mouth to keep from gagging.
"Oh gods almighty that thing smells terrible." She managed muffled behind her hands. She really needed to carry some sort of bandanna or something to help keep smells like that from her nose hairs as she was pretty sure it burned some of them from how foul it was.

The smell was quite atrocious. There was no mistaking the smell of rotten eggs that emanated from the smoke that the chicken/creature thing had disappeared into. With all of the eggs broken now the cadet gently wafted her hand in front of her nose before pulling out a cloth handkerchief from her uniform pocket before gingerly holding it over her nose. A minute passed before she rummaged around and produced another square cloth which she then held out to the agent. Her attention shifted to take in what her scans of the creature revealed: absolutely no information had come back. The smoke reading was obvious; traces of sulphur ... no surprises there.
"So," and here her voice was a little muffled, "I guess you can definitively say that your sister wasn't pranking you. It's weird that I couldn't figure out exactly what that creature was. No known information is what came as a result of the scan I was trying to take."
She paused before lowering her handkerchief from her nose and gently sniffed at the air around them. The smell still lingered but it was tolerable. "Are giant chickens normal for Destiny City? I don't recall seeing them before."
Carrollite gratefully took the offered square cloth and was able to at least have a bit better of a time breathing without the sulfur aroma that had filled the air around them.
She nodded, "Yeah, it seems this time she wasn't actually pranking me."
There was curious glance at the nest that stood empty. "Nothing on your scanner huh?" There was also a curious glance to Lysanna. "What kind of scanner is that anyway if you don't mind my asking? It looks nifty."
When the other lowered the handkerchief she did too and yes it was at least tolerable smells now and not over bearing death smell. "No, not normally. It's not a youma, I could tell that much. But I don't know what it was."
She scratched the back of her head thinking, "Yeah I haven't seen them before either."
