Poultrygeist (15) : As Destiny City is a bustling metropolis, it’s not unexpected that there should be some strange animals running the streets. Sometimes it’s a tiger, sometimes a monkey, sometimes a chicken. Sometimes it’s something worse. Strange egg clusters have appeared in Destiny City’s parks and officials aren’t really sure what they are; these eggs have nothing inside of them. Though it’s an anomaly, they are chalking it up to teenaged pranks. However, they have advised to just leave the eggs as they are. Nobody wants to say why, but if you’re out late at night, you’ll find out. In the darkness, whispered between the sounds of the city: a guttural, rasping cluck. The creature stands on stilt-like legs, rooted to the ground with razor-sharp talons. It wears a cloak of long, oily feathers that drag on the ground with a sinister scraping. If you stare into the darkness, piercing red eyes stare back at you. That’s all it takes for a confrontation: a mangled bird, maybe a chicken in another life, comes barreling out at you. It stands easily as tall as a person, but the proportions are all wrong. The smell of sulfur follows it as it lunges, pecking and screaming and scratching as it attempts to chase you away. Maybe, from the nests full of empty eggs. The battles are fierce, but fleeting; it will viciously try to chase you away but the effects are always the same: at some point, the eggs are crushed. As always, there’s nothing inside of them, but with one final wail, the bird will vanish into a plume of foul smoke.

Note: If you choose to encounter one of these bird-like creatures, your character will recognize they are not youma. It is impossible to tell if it is a single entity or if there are many. The bird does not seem to understand or care to listen to human words. It will always disappear in a malodorous plume of smoke and leave nothing but a foul odor and a clutch of empty, broken eggs behind. This RP can be used as a battle requirement as long as there are two powered characters involved; you must be interacting with another player’s powered character. This does not count as the one youma battle per stage for growth so characters can still use an NPC youma battle as well as this one for growth purposes. This can only be used as a battle requirement once per character, but there is no limitation for how many times a player can use this prompt.

Vizi had just recently found themself wondering around the parks looking for these rumored chicken eggs. They'd never seen a chicken in real life, just pictures. And the fact the eggs from the stores here were eatable they wanted to check out these supposedly rancid things.

Who would leave such perfectly good eggs to rot?? Though Vizi was concerned with the information of what sounded like some sort of demon chicken. If people were saying these things weren't normal sized chickens maybe they could figure out what had caused the feathered phenomenon. Their sandals made a noise as they walked through the grass and suddenly, Vizi felt something under their foot. They looked curiously, wrinkling their noise when the smell hit him.

"Oh. Oh this is terrible." They said backing up clasping their hands to their nose and mouth to try and avoid the stench. It wasn't long after Vizi heard a horrifying screech followed by clucking? The deep space senshi looked up confused to find they were being charged by some super sized chicken monster. This was not on their to do list today, they were doing their best to out run the chicken.

By this point Sailor Tempesti could not muster anything resembling surprise when the fowl odor assailed her nostrils. If it was mating season for these things they were certainly making a point to get around, though they didn’t seem to have mastered the art of actual reproduction, if the empty shells they left behind were any indication. Sighing, she began to scrutinize her surroundings for any sign of those distinctive red eyes. Given the fact that each of them seemed to vanish in a puff of smoke, she couldn’t help but wonder if it was one deranged mass of feathers staking a claim on random sites throughout the city. It hadn’t been clear how many were actually present during either of her previous encounters but if there was more than one, they definitely chose one champion to send into combat.

An outraged screeching cluck pierced the quiet, followed by what sounded like someone running. Heart pounding, Tempesti sprinted toward the commotion until the beast came into view, its quarry not far ahead. Springing forward with all the strength she could muster, she attempted to tackle the chicken. She could worry about getting the smell out when the other senshi was safe.

Vizi was glad that someone had come to their rescue. Taking but a second to catch enough breath they could use their attack the deep space senshi narrowed their eyes at the stinky chicken monster and called out, "Sea Krait's Mild Venom!"

The deep space senshi watched as the sea kraits went straight for the chicken and nodded. "Thank you~!" They added as they moved in to assist the other senshi.

"I was not expecting to be ambushed like that." Vizi aimed a punch at the chicken monster and wrinkled their nose at the smell and the noise that the thing made was unholy. "Are the chickens normally this monsterous!? They don't look like this on the TV."

The deep space senshi was concerned if all chickens were like this, maybe they should head back home.... what was left of it.

Sailor Scout Attack: Sea Krait's Mild Venom
Vizi calls this attack and summons an illusion of a pair of sea krait that head towards his target and bites. The bite injects a venom into the target's skin. The effects of the venom lasts for 30 seconds and can cause blueing of the skin. The target could also feel any of these side effects lightheaded, muscle weakness, or have blurred vision for the duration of the magic. Players can choose to have residual effects after the magic ends, up to whatever severity they want to play with. This attack can be used three times.

The chicken did not seem to appreciate her grappling efforts, but as far as she was concerned that was its problem. If earlier encounters were any indication, she couldn’t actually kill the thing so that made it a bit easier to go all in on smacking it around. The fact that the eggs never seemed to contain anything that might be alive was just another factor that allowed her to be a bit less cautious in fighting these birds that seemed determined to show up every time she turned around.

Far secondary to keeping this person from getting mauled by poultry was the idea that if they were new to Earth, she definitely wanted to offset the terrible impression that the wrathful fowl had undoubtedly made. Wonder quickly replaced the visceral startle reaction the pretty snakes caused as they swam forth through the air to strike their target. Whatever they were, they were beautiful.

Tempesti laughed softly but not maliciously at the deep space senshi’s question, amused by the idea of people keeping these birds in cute little coops. Being satisfied with waking up to what horrifying crowing they could manage. Collecting the horrid eggs without violent interference. “These aren’t exactly chickens, to be honest I’m not really sure what they are. Chickens are much smaller and a lot less mean. I can show you what real chickens look like once we deal with our friend here.” It was a risk to release the creature from her grip but if she wanted to scare it off it was necessary. “I’m letting it go for a second, get ready.” The young woman did her best to pull it away from the other senshi before letting go.

“Harrowing Storm!

She definitely did not miss the risk of accidentally zapping allies. Or herself. It definitely felt like a boon to be free of that.

Vizi stood with their arms poised ready to aim a punch at the creature if it was ready to come at them. There was a head tilt as Vizi looked at Tempesti, "It's not a chicken??"

The fact the feathered fowl wasn't a chicken, and chickens were smaller and less mean made them feel better but still. There was a nod when Tempesti said she was going to let go. "Alright!"

Vizi jumped back make sure to give some extra space while Tempesti attacked the creature. They watched her attack with curiosity. Once the attack passed and the coast was clear Vizi moved to aim a kick at the creature. "I very much would like to see real chickens!" They said with a nod.

With a disgruntled screeching bray the bird stumbled across the nest, bulldozing the rancid eggs and scattering the empty shells in a sulfurous riot before vanishing in a cloud of chokingly aromatic smoke. Expending a decent amount of effort Tempesti managed to suppress the gag that threatened to rise in her throat, the summer heat doing little to assist. She took a moment to collect herself, habitually running a hand through her hair as she turned her attention to the other senshi.

“Those things just keep popping up.” She rolled her shoulders and offered the alien a warm smile, “I’m Sailor Tempesti, nice to meet you.” A few moments passed as she fished for a memory. “You know, I think I remember seeing some chickens in a park near here if you want to pay them a visit.”

There's actually an area near me with so many feral chickens that the shops and whatnot just leaned into it and sell chicken merchandise, commission chicken murals, etc.

Vizi looked interested as the bird disappeared after the final attack. They clapped but it was short lived when the smell hit their nose and the deep space senshi moved away from the scent. It was foul and nothing that vile should be allowed to exist. "Oh, that's terrible. I do hope someone stops them soon. Because I don't think we vanquished it."

It had taken them a second to get their breathe back in order to say such but Vizi was at least not gagged on the sickening smell. "I'm Sailor Vizi!" They replied when the other introduced herself.

There was a pause when the other said there were chickens not far from here, "Oh can we go see them? I'd very much like to see a chicken in person!" Vizi seemed to brighten up almost like a kid having been promised a fun field trip.

“Honestly, I can’t even say for sure that there’s more than one of them since they always do that little disappearing act. At least around me.” She wrinkled her nose slightly at the thought. “Hopefully they poof for good soon.”

The other senshi’s delight at the idea of chickens was infectious. In their position, with an entire planet of new animals, she would probably feel exactly the same way. “They’re usually just on the other side of the park she gestured in the general direction of where she usually saw them before smilingly leading them toward the birds’ domain.

A persistent and enthusiastic clucking filled the air as they moved across the green space well before any chickens put in an appearance. Clusters of round, fluffy hens in white and orange pecked around the grass and pavement, feasting on bugs, seeds, and small mounds of cracked corn left by some generous local. A tall, glossy-feathered rooster strutted about near the edges, keeping a watchful eye on his surroundings, though being used to human activity the flock regarded the newcomers with short-lived curiosity before returning their attention to the food.

Vizi seemed thoughtful, "That sounds suspicious"

No one could tell if there was more than one or if that was the only one, it seemed very curious at that. The deep space senshi seemed to think. But as they walled Vizi was still excited to see the chickens.

There was a nod when Tempesti explained that the birds were on the other side of the park. Vizi could hear a lot of the clucking, it sounded different than the monster they'd encountered and when they reached the birds.

"Oh! They're so cute." They went to pick one up to try and hold it and see if they could pet it. "I wish my world could keep chickens, but there's a lot of under water areas. I doubt a bird like this would be able to live."

There was a startled noise from the deep space senshi when the chicken pecked at them and they let the creature down. "I guess they don't want to be held."

Tempesti watched as Vizi approached the chickens with a smile, feral or not they were a definite improvement over the rancid monsters and she hoped they lived up to the alien’s expectations. At the mention of their homeworld Tempesti’s interest spiked. In space exploration, she’d found that the stuff of speculative fiction had become one of the dominant forces in her thoughts. A world with so much water that a landbound bird would have difficulty surviving was an idea she’d never considered. That would presumably mean that the deep space senshi in front of her could breathe underwater, or at least survive for an extended period of time in circumstances that would be fatal for Earth’s humans.

She’d hoped to warn them before the chicken asserted its independence but unfortunately she was too slow on that front, stuck in her musings on the nature of Vizi’s home. “Ooh, yeah. I’ve seen some videos of chickens who like to be handled but these aren’t used to it.” She wondered if it would be too painful to ask them about the animals who did live on their homeworld. Or used to. The ones who could maybe live again someday. “I hope you like them anyway. They’re a lot better than our visitor earlier.”

Vizi was finding leaves and grass to offer the chickens which seemed to bring one or two's attention to them and peck at the offering as Tempesti was lost in thought. When they went to get more grass there was a pause when they found an emerald star charm "Oh look there's a little trinket here, I wonder if there's more? Also, It's a shame these don't like to be handled. Maybe I'll find a chicken that does like to be handled to keep some day."

It was something that could be fun, having a chicken for a pet. "They are very neat! Much better than the monster. They also smell better too."

They seemed to think, "Maybe for now we should depart for the night?" Vizi seemed thoughtful, "We could meet up again and see if we could find different chickens?" They offered with a grin.

Tempesti returned the deep space senshi’s smile, happy that they had found a way to interact with the chickens that was amenable to everyone involved. “I hope you find an affectionate chicken someday, I do know they’re out there.” She nodded as they spoke. “Alright, take care and stay safe!” With a quick wave she headed off, hoping no more poultrygeists awaited her today.
