Quote: Poultrygeist (15) : As Destiny City is a bustling metropolis, it’s not unexpected that there should be some strange animals running the streets. Sometimes it’s a tiger, sometimes a monkey, sometimes a chicken. Sometimes it’s something worse. Strange egg clusters have appeared in Destiny City’s parks and officials aren’t really sure what they are; these eggs have nothing inside of them. Though it’s an anomaly, they are chalking it up to teenaged pranks. However, they have advised to just leave the eggs as they are. Nobody wants to say why, but if you’re out late at night, you’ll find out. In the darkness, whispered between the sounds of the city: a guttural, rasping cluck. The creature stands on stilt-like legs, rooted to the ground with razor-sharp talons. It wears a cloak of long, oily feathers that drag on the ground with a sinister scraping. If you stare into the darkness, piercing red eyes stare back at you. That’s all it takes for a confrontation: a mangled bird, maybe a chicken in another life, comes barreling out at you. It stands easily as tall as a person, but the proportions are all wrong. The smell of sulfur follows it as it lunges, pecking and screaming and scratching as it attempts to chase you away. Maybe, from the nests full of empty eggs. The battles are fierce, but fleeting; it will viciously try to chase you away but the effects are always the same: at some point, the eggs are crushed. As always, there’s nothing inside of them, but with one final wail, the bird will vanish into a plume of foul smoke. "What the actual ******** ******** bent over to more closely examine the clutch of weird-looking eggs she'd found as she was out prowling around, looking for trouble other powered people. These were really ******** weird-looking, too – they didn't look anywhere near normal for eggs, sitting in a nest that was only barely more adequate than a pigeon's sticks-and-pebbles nest. She'd seen on the news about the weird eggs, the authorities warning people to stay away from them because they were weird and smelled funny, like sulphur, and were empty besides. Or some such s**t as that. Even in her powered-up Senshi form, she didn't trust authority. So she just had to find out for herself. The tingling in the back of her head that told her there was another magical person nearby was starting to go off, distracting her a little from the eggs. Having learned to check her heart too, she felt nothing dangerous about whoever it was who was approaching. Looking around, she tried to spot the new arrival – could be around the corner, could be lurking in the shadows. Robinhood gazed into the darkness…. And saw two beady red eyes staring back. "Aaaaa, disengage disengage," she muttered as she quickly backed off and ducked around the corner, the other magical person all but forgotten. Then she remembered. "s**t, dude, there's something out there…" she hissed at whomever might be nearby. "I don't like it…"

Tempesti had just managed to convince herself that her hair no longer smelled like sulfur when the unwelcomely familiar aroma decided to perform a less than desirable encore. Given the ebbs and flow of strange magic in this city, it seemed more than likely that those crotchety birds and their eggs were scattered across more than a few neighborhoods. Or she could just be imagining the smell, after all, it had made quite an impression on both her and her olfactory bulbs. The subtle sensation of an Order energy signature pushed its way to stand shoulder to shoulder with the smell in her mind. The senshi scanned the darkness for her unseen ally or signs of crusty nests or beady red eyes. At least there were no kittens to worry about here, though Cuan had acquitted herself admirably with her little laser beam. That was a source of some relief, knowing she could zap the baddies at will. If the other didn’t know about the not quite chickens, it was only right that she warn them. Even if they bypassed this nest, nothing would stop them from encountering more in the future. A barely audible sound maybe speech, maybe a monster bird that had somehow learned the art of subtlety drew her attention, spurring her forward toward whatever waited in the shadows. At that moment, the energy signature’s source made herself known. An unfamiliar senshi clad in a fuku that wouldn’t look out of place at a renaissance fair and beyond her, the red glow she’d sought. Adrenaline surged as she just managed to place herself between the other woman and the hidden monster before it stormed forth in a maelstrom of foul (fowl?) smelling feathers and a guttural cacophony of sound.

Just as quickly as she'd backed away from the glowing eyes, Robinhood felt someone dash around her and position themselves between her and the whatever it was. "Holy ********," she gasped, but before she could say anything else the darkness exploded into a crusty, disgusting, malodorous flurry of sulfur stench and nails-on-chalkboard squawking. "Aaaa what the ********!" Instinctively the new Senshi darted out of the way of the other Senshi and the monstrous smelly bird-creature that was charging them faster than anything had a right to charge. Summoning her magical bow, she drew an ethereal arrow from out of nowhere, nocked it, aimed and loosed it at the monster's feet. The thing was way too fast, though – it managed to avoid the deep dark hole that opened up beneath it. "s**t," Robinhood snarled. She'd have to be faster. Which meant tapping into her archer's instincts. Once more she manifested a glowing energy arrow in her hand and in a single movement nocked and loosed it in the direction of the bird's feet. She was good enough and confident enough in her ability with a bow and arrow that she knew she'd land in the general area; the question was, was she fast enough? "Look out!" she shouted at the other Senshi, watching the overgrown smelly chicken-thing slip and almost fall into the oubliette she'd just made near it. It made a confused squawk and scrambled for purchase on the lip of the pit, then recover with an incredibly smelly flap of its wing appendages. Then it looked directly at Robinhood and charged. Oh s**t.

The senshi of harpies watched with great interest as the other senshi managed to summon dark pits around the irate bird’s feet, wondering what kind of sphere would create them. She was definitely rooting for her to succeed, and Tempesti’s disappointment mirrored that of her newfound ally. Maybe she just needed a little help, a quick assist to remind her of her own capabilities, and maybe tip her off that there were plenty of other people out there who would be willing to help. If the archer’s experience was anything like her own just a few months earlier she would be running out of magic sooner rather than later so if she was going to make good on those thoughts, she’d better do so quickly. Throwing herself forward, she gripped the oily feathers as firmly as she could, hoping it hadn’t gotten close enough to do any real damage to the hooded woman. If she held it in place for just a few seconds, she could buy time for one of those arrows to definitively meet its mark. “Try it again now! If I fall in, I can jump out, you’ve got this!Help from friends was a big part of what helped her find her own footing in the bizarre new world in which she’d found herself. If she could pay that forward, help this woman embrace her own power, there was nothing else she should do.

Robinhood gasped out loud as the other, clearly more experienced Senshi grabbed the evil buzzard as it charged at her and held on for dear life. She could jump? That was right, they could jump – she had done that herself when she became a Senshi! That meant the other Senshi could too! "You got it!" she shouted over the creaky, grating squawking and screeching of the overgrown pullet. Holding out her arm, she produced her magical bow, then whipped up an energy arrow. This was probably her last shot – that was how these things worked. She had to make this one count. Nock and draw and loose in a single fluid movement. The glowing green arrow flew toward the ghastly clawed feet of the chicken-monster, opening up a very deep, very dark hole beneath it and the Senshi grasping it. With a wail, the bird thing fell into the oubliette, leaving behind a trail of sulphur stench so bad it made Robinhood's eyes water. It was done…. But where was the other Senshi?

The bird struggled, flapping in rage and indignation as Tempesti held fast to its tail until the pit opened beneath them. She managed a graceless but not entirely undignified landing in the bottom of the hole. While she was relieved that she wasn’t in an enclosed space with the chicken beast and its perpetual fury, she couldn’t consider the aroma it left behind a much more pleasant companion. Fighting back a gag she sprang upward, landing in front of the other senshi with a soft grunt. “Well, you did great with that mess!” She smiled reassuringly, “These…things have been popping up all over the city from what I’ve heard. This is the second time I’ve seen one, it takes a good amount of scrubbing to get the smell out, unfortunately. You did really well though. …Anyway! I’m Sailor Tempesti, nice to meet you.”

Robinhood gave Tempesti – yay, another Senshi confirmed! – a lopsided smile. "Thanks. I'm really new at this, so any kind of positive feedback is appreciated." Tempesti looked so different than she did, and she felt stronger, more magically powerful, even though her weird tingly senses were telling her they were on the same side. Were there stages to this Senshi thing? She really had to sit down and read the documentation on her Senshi phone… Focusing back on Tempesti, she gave a sweeping bow. "You're gonna laugh… I'm Sailor Robinhood. Seriously. Thanks a lot for the assist – hopefully I won't run into any more of those stupid things, right?"

“I was in the same place a few months ago. It gets weirder, a lot weirder. But I think I’ll get used to it eventually. In the meantime, it helps to have people to talk to.” The senshi smiled reassuringly before letting out a soft, surprised laugh, “Well, your magic definitely suits your name. I have harpies, myself. They’re fond of wind and lightning.” She wasn’t sure how much to talk about at first, there was a lot and she didn’t fully understand big chunks of it. “Anyway, you can register me in your phone if you’d like. I’m not exactly an expert on everything but if I can help with questions I will. Or if you just need to talk about…all of the weirdness that comes with this.”

"Harpies? Whoa, that's so sick," Robinhood grinned. All she had was glowing magical arrows and deep holes in the ground. She laughed at Tempesti's reaction to her Senshi name and tilted her head. "Hey, at least I don't have the stupid little pointy hat. I got pretty lucky with that, I guess." Reaching for her Senshi phone, she snapped a picture of the other Senshi to add to her contacts. "You can do the same for me, do the picture thing for your phone." Considering how weird it already was, she knew she was going to need all the help she could get, from whomever she could get it from. "Thanks so much for helping with…. Everything," she smiled sincerely. Honkzilla think we can wrap here, or soon?
