Rowanna Chahal started as Hogwarts Potions Professor in 2065. She is a fairly recent Hogwarts graduate and currently the school's youngest professor. As a student, Rowanna found she was a bit of a potions prodigy, though she'd never admit it herself. In her own words, she simply has "a knack for it." Up until she was hired at Hogwarts, she worked at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.
The office isn't exactly close to the Potions Classroom, at the specific request of Professor Chahal. The office is instead on Hogwarts' main floor, mostly for her office to get natural light. The office is filled with books that Professor Chahal is more than happy to lend to any student (or professor) who asks. She has a mostly open-door policy, but she can specifically be found weekdays from 12:00-2:30 and again from 4:00-5:00.

Nearly a month into the school year and Rowanna was still trying to get her office organized. She hadn’t realized how much stuff she’d brought with her until she tried to put it all away. She blew a hair from her face as she waved her wand, moving a set of books onto a shelf. As they carefully slotted into place there was a knock at her office door. She glanced up with a small crinkle in her nose. She hadn’t been expecting anyone, then again, she had established a sort of ‘open door’ policy with her students, so maybe one of them had a question.
“Come in!” She called, using her wand to open the door. She was a bit taken aback by who she saw. “Oh, Professor Kim. Hello,” Rowan had had less interaction with the other staff so far than she had hoped. Though, to be fair to her, many of them had been her own professors, so she wasn’t starting completely new. However, Professor Kim she had actually attended Hogwarts with. Granted, she’d barely known him. They hadn’t really run in the circles. In fact, Rowan hadn’t really run in any circles aside from Nora, even though her best friend had had plenty of friends herself. Rowan hadn’t minded back then, but part of her now wishes she had been a bit more social.
Professor Kim stepped in with a half-awkward smile. “Hope I’m not interrupting anything,” he said, looking around the office.
“Not at all, I’m just putting my last few things away. What can I do for you?” She asked.
“So…this is sort of random,” he began, “but it’s your birthday today, isn’t it?”
Rowan was somewhat taken aback. She’d been so busy all day, she’d almost forgotten. She’d never been one of those people to count down to her birthday. Though she had gotten a few things from her family in the owl post this morning. “It is, in fact,” she said with a little smile.
“In a strange twist of fate, it is also, my birthday. My mother loves to send sweets every birthday, and I thought I might offer you some. I’m not going to get anywhere close to finishing them on my own.”
“Oooh,” she quickly replied. Rowanna loved sweets. “That is incredibly kind of you, Professor Kim. I happily accept.”
“And please; you have to call me Eric.”
