Part Two Starts/Ends: July 12th, after judging | July 22nd, 11:59pm EST

Who is this family? Well, I'm sure you know! I can't keep all these Ma'ome myself, after all!

Rules
  • This game runs in two parts: one for the parents, where two players will have to band together and write an entry together for, and then a raffle will be held for the children after.
  • Judging will be focused on the story itself. Writing styles or grammar will not count against players.
  • Players can only take home 1 character from this game. Those who win the parents will be unable to win a child from the raffle.
  • The relations for these characters are set in stone— the children will have their parents' names on their certs, and be considered Gen 2.
  • All written entries must be the player's own work. It should go without saying, but any work suspected of using AI will result in disqualification.
  • Proxies are not allowed for round 1, but are permitted for round 2.
  • Please be kind! Any poor play will result in disqualification.

Usernames: Nefarious Muse and I Lady Kiya I
Monochrome Parent: Ditono [ Nefarious Muse ]
Blue Parent: Zapallo [ I Lady Kiya I ]

Entry:
By chance, these two fellows met each other on a faithful day. Ditono fall head over heals for Zapallo at first sight. Zapallo flirted, but was playing hard to get, unsure of how he really felt. However, all of that was to change drastically without either of them realizing. They were caught in a terrible snowstorm. Ditono saved them both by finding a cave to hide in on the side of a mountain. The blizzard seemed to last forever. After a few days together hiding out, Zapallo realized his true feelings and couldn't see how he could ever live without Ditono. At that point on, a great bond between them was formed. A year passed and they ended up being blessed with 3 lovely sons that make them both proud and happy to see them grown up.

Usernames: S1lversong, Melomar
Monochrome Parent: Hodei (cloud) [S1lversong]
Blue Parent: Euri (rain) [Melomar]

Entry:
Our pair is an 'evil' duo that always accidentally winds up doing good things somehow. An example was the time when they were trying to control the water consumption of the area. "Ahaha, we're going to block off this river so that there's no water!" declared Hodei. Euri, independently, thought much the same. But invariably they messed it up somehow and more water flowed into the area in the end.

How they met:
Independently of each other, both males are inherently lazy. So they absolutely would be stupid enough to try to steal food from another group. After all, they'd rather try to steal than actually hunt. And ironically, sometimes, stealing stuff is more complex and more work than just outright hunting would be, but they're both the sort of idiots who can't see that. So on this particular day and at the very same time they targeted the same group, bumbled around for a while when they ran into each other, then tried to blame the other when they were both caught. After their punishments, they decided to leave separately from there (and independently ended up going the same way together). And they have been boss and subordinate ever since.

Their feelings towards one another:
Each one thinks HE is the boss and "manipulating" the other one to do his bidding. (Where's the love?)

Their response to children:
Hodei secretly blames Euri for the appearance of children, though he does not know how it actually works.
Euri secretly blames Hodei for the children, thinking that his Boss-level manipulations of Hodei backfired somewhere along the line. How did the cubs get here again? He is hesitant to ask for fear of appearing weak in front of Hodei and the cubs (henchmen!)."

Usernames: Illusei, Revel1984
Monochrome Parent: Rooke | Revel1984
Blue Parent: Gambit | Illusei

Entry:

When Gambit first met Rooke, they were on neutral ground - two wandering males roaming the snow-capped mountains. Intrigued by the other, Gambit was the first to move forward, in a relaxed slow way to show the other male he meant no harm. He attempted to nose the other male, but he is rebuffed. The other male's tail flicks as if in contempt as he walked away. "How rude," Gambit thought.

A few days later, Gambit spotted the other male again near a cave. He had just finished a meal and had with him a small carcass of a snow rabbit. As an idea dawned on him, Gambit smiled rather devilishly. If the other male intended on ignoring him, then Gambit would make his presence hard to ignore. He waited until he watched the other male leave and then dragged the carcass to the cave. Tearing what was left of it with great vigor, he left a mess at the entrance for the other male to find.

Rooke came home, feeling slightly defeated. His hunt had been only moderately successful and he remained a little hungry. To his surprise, at the entrance of his den, shreds of meat was waiting for him, haphazardly thrown all over the ground. Looking about him, he spotted the other male staring at him from a cliff. "How childish," Rooke thought. Still, he enjoyed the food.

Rooke retaliated by rearranging Gambit's den in what he considers to be more tasteful, including adding some new decorations. He had intended to make the den a mess, but upon stepping inside, found it to already be a mess and spent the time cleaning it instead.

The two continued their "pranks" for weeks and though neither of them would admit it, began to quite enjoy it. In their pridefulness, they never realized either that they were flirting.

Until one day, Rooke caught Gambit in the act. They had not been so close since their first fateful encounter and face to face, they felt shy and sheepish. Hesitantly, they started to speak and found that they enjoyed each other's company, although they playfully continued small pranks.

One day, in the heat of the moment, Rooke kissed Gambit, catching him by surprise. "Checkmate," Rooke said in a smile, pleased to see Gambit flustered for a change. "No, I think I won," Gambit replied.

When eventually Rooke and Gambit had children, they welcomed it. Rooke was more hesitant about being a first-time parent, but soon warmed up to the role. Their home was a very lively one.

(Also it turns out Rooke is just very shy, not rude, and Gambit...well he might have been a little childish.)

Usernames: Lavenadel and Porcelain Pinch
Monochrome Parent: Enzu [Porcelain Pinch]
Blue Parent: Tiamat [Lavenadel] (She will be a masculine-presenting female since I love the idea of a strong woman general)

Entry:
The backstory:

These two are a classic enemies-to-lovers and a Romeo and Juliet situation.

Their meeting was unlikely, their pairing forbidden, their love? Unbreakable.

Their colony is one of the largest in the East, split into different sub-clans that represent an element in nature. Each clan was meant to be a pillar that held the entire community together, focusing on trade and managing key resources needed for everyday life. Each clan had a sister element, meant to bring balance to one another and strengthen them as they naturally do in nature. Fire and Sun, Ice and Wind, Earth and Metal, finally…the clans that these two hail from.

Water and Moon.

In a sad irony, the two clans that should have been partners in complete unison devolved into bitter enemies, and a brutal war soon erupted between them. The Moon clan, convinced they were superior, believed they should dominate Water. After all, the moon's power controls the ocean's tides, so it's only natural that they should rule. From birth, Moon clan members are trained in the military, expected to serve for a set number of years before they are qualified to retire and have the honor of having their own families. Similar to the way the Romans and Spartans were in ancient times. Members of the Water clan are raised with a profound sense of pride, taught that death is merely the start and that no greater glory can be achieved than dying in battle. This mindset fuels their fierce, animal-like drive to defeat their enemies, making them formidable opponents who charge directly into enemy lines fearlessly, seeking glory for themselves, whether through victory or death.

Water, on the other hand, was the scholarly counterpart to Moon. They also believed they were superior and deserved to lead. After all, wasn't water the most powerful element on the planet? Although it might be slow and steady, with careful planning and time, even a small trickle of water could carve out an entire canyon. They valued intelligence, charisma, and cunning. What they lacked in pure military strength, they made up for with iron-clad strategies that would confuse and outsmart almost any opponent. They won battles by exploiting natural resources and geography to gain the upper hand, targeting weaknesses in armor and rank, and sowing chaos among the enemy. On the battlefield, what they lacked in numbers, they made up for with advanced, developed weapons. They used natural gases to daze and poison enemies, complex traps, and walls to funnel the enemy into bottlenecks ripe for surprise attacks. They had developed armor to protect vital organs from attacks. And with their vast network of spies, it was rare for them not to have the upper hand and a detailed dossier on their enemies before engaging in one-on-one combat. Ironically, if the two clans joined forces, they'd be an unstoppable force that could take over the entire colony. But blinded by ambition and a deep-seated hatred fueled by centuries of fighting, they're too caught up in their conflict to see that they're driving themselves to extinction.

How they met:

Tiamat was a high general of the Water army. Strong, reliable, and fierce on the battlefield. With her large, muscular build and intimidating presence, she earned the nickname the Goddess of War for her valor and numerous victories against the Moon clan. She was stern, calculated, and a woman of few words.

Enzu was born into the noble royal family of the Moon clan. Cunning, sly, and self-absorbed, they rose through the ranks as a great spy and assassin for their clan through their own merit and skill. Earning them the reputation of being the bane of the Water clan’s upper military ranks, as they were one of the few skilled enough to successfully assassinate their target behind enemy lines - and live to tell the tale.

His mission was clear and simple; it should have been a simple in-and-out endeavor. Kill the General before the next big battle to weaken their forces and drive chaos in their ranks, as they shouldn’t have time to reformulate an entire battalion to different leadership before the Moon’s planned surprise attack.

Victory was all but assured. He just had one small task to do.

Sneaking past the lines was easy, slipping into the general’s cave was even easier. However, he was not expecting to be met face-to-face with the claws of his target against his throat and the pointed stare of the general back at him. Remarkably, she didn’t kill him on sight; instead, she was intrigued by the noble and how he managed to evade her forces. So, she offered a challenge. Beat her in a game of riddles, and he would have his prize; if she won, however, he would give up his tactics and weak spots in her line.

The two found each other to be completely evenly matched. They spent the night engrossed in their game, going back and forth with different riddles but never truly outpacing each other.

Finally, the sun arose, and the two found themselves mourning the loss of their game. It was back to being enemies, back to their normal lives. Before he left, Tiamat laid a proposal too good for Enzu to turn down: If he truly wanted her head, then he could return the next night and try his luck again. Her offer and challenge still being on the table as long as he thought himself willing to beat her.

And so, he returned the next night. And the night after, and the night after. Each time he promised himself it would be the last time, that tonight he would finally beat her and claim his victory. Yet, it became a pastime instead.

Months went by, and one day, news reached the other side of the Moon’s line: The Goddess of War had suddenly retired and returned home with little notice.

Enzu was furious. How could she leave HIM. How could she just suddenly drop their game with no warning?! Who did she think she was?

And so, he went searching for her under the guise of a covert mission to gain more understanding of the enemy’s change in rank and future plans now that Tiamat was MIA.

What he found instead was something he never could have expected. Tiamat, quietly retired and trying to live her life in peace with cubs bearing undeniable Moon clan markings mixed with Water markings.

Their "meetings" had borne forbidden fruits. Literally.

s**t.

How they react to the kids:

Tiamat: Though at first she was enraged at the thought of suddenly having to retire from her position, she finally accepted that this was probably what she deserved for fraternizing with the enemy. Truthfully, a small part of her was relieved to have an excuse to escape duty and experience what civilian life was like. Now that the kids have arrived, she is a loving, doting mother who cares deeply for her children. They are her little unexpected miracles, and though she can’t openly share them with her clan, she strives to provide the best life she can for them.

Enzu: He is flabbergasted and extremely annoyed! These little things were ruining her life, his life, and most importantly, their situationship. He suggests dumping them off somewhere to be raised by another family, and is met with daggers from Tiamat at the suggestion.
Eventually, he might warm up to them, but he’ll be reluctant to do so.

Usernames: Bittersweet Contradiction & Fairy Snails
Monochrome Parent: Kageyuki (Bittersweet Contradiction)
Blue Parent: Ikuhiko (Fairy Snails)

Entry:
Kageyuki and Ikuhiko grew up together. Some would call their cubhood relationship friendly, but a more accurate term would be rivals. If they weren’t competing pver one thing, they were competing against another thing. Who was the better hunter, the better climber, the better hider. Day after day was they challenged the other.

Their antics didn’t stop as they got older, in fact, those who thought that the two of them would eventually becoming closer friends or even romantically involved were in for a rude awakening. The two butted heads even more often.

Their aggression toward each other reached the climax when a new Ma’ome entered their lives. She was perfect in their eyes, quick witted, sweet and loved life. The two started to fight over her attention.

At first the fighting was amusing to the new Ma’ome, but eventually she grew irritated. She wanted both of them, so decided to give them an ultimatum, get along and have cubs together or she was walking away. The two agreed to her terms reluctantly and had cubs together.

At first they did their best to get along, but slowly their old habit sprang back up. At first it it was just some mild bickering, but eventually it lead to full on brawls. In the end, the Ma’ome left, leaving them with three cubs to raise.

When the Mo’ome left, Kageyuki took it very hard, taking most of the blame and decided he would do his best to help co-parent the cubs. Ikuhiho wasn’t thrilled with the idea of co-parenting with his rival, but eventually agreed, seeing it as an opportunity to be the better father.
