All across the city dumpster fires are going up, often in the wee hours of the evening, like a mockery of beacons being lit across Gondor.
Maybe someone was inspired by a show a friend made him watch?
Oftentimes, scrawled alongside the rest of the burning, smoke tinged graffiti, there remains a singular number to call. It would be near indistinguishable from the rest of the scribbles, save for how someone clearly went out of their way to make sure all other numbers have been viciously crossed out, and that this is the only legible one remaining.
When the number is called? It mysteriously seems to go directly to voicemail.
There are no instructions. Just a very patient automated tone and beep signaling the start of the recording. Anyone that calls the number back will receive a 'this number is not in service' message. It's likely a roto-dialer, maybe even a bot line? As the number on every burning dumpster appears to be different every time.
The number seems to also be able to receive texts! Though there is no indication as to whether or not the texts are being read, or even truly going through. Is there even a human being on the other end of this thing? Is this a prank? Regardless! It does seem to be able to accept them!

Whoever's checking whatever info is being left on the line has no ability to know anything about who or even where the calls are coming from unless the person leaving that info specifies those details.
UPDATE: This ORP (of sorts, it's just a silly tip line!) will stay open throughout the rest of the summer and officially close for receiving 'messages' and 'tips' on the night of August 1st. There will be no further prompts or updates, it's self-driven and world-exploration inspired.
