The port they ended up in was indeed a truly magical place. She was enjoying their vacation ever so much. Time itself seemed to hold still, making their stay seem much longer. Though she had no urge to move on from where they were, definitely not that. Life was just starting to get really interesting again. She turned her head and gazed avidly at her mate. She loved his aquiline nose and pure iceling skin. A ranger like her dad, but not the critter kind.

She loved this man for his adventurous spirit and the exquisite care he gave her and their son. Just now they're waiting for their breakfast to be delivered by the Inn staff. She had ordered scrambled eggs and spicy rice. She preferred to have a hearty carb in the morning to help fuel her day. They were perched patiently at the little breakfast table outside their upgraded room. This was such a good break from the years of hard work and seriousness that they had worked under for so very, very long. Vallas had just passed his prentice stage and was now very much a handsome young man ready to see the world. She worried for the trail of broken hearts her son would no doubt leave behind him until he found the right one, as she had many, many years and many, many brawls later. She knew the sea and critters tugged on her son's heart strings just like hers. Vhallas' course was set, though she had no idea what horizon he would eventually end up at, just as she had had no idea she would end up here and so enjoying herself. The breakfast was brought out on platters. Her eyes bugged out huge, a hungry glint entered them, and she took a sip of coffee.

He had ordered huevos rancheros, and was quite excited to see their food coming too. Traveling all the way, had sure worked up his appetite once they had stopped. The waiter set their food down and left them be Rao sipped his fruity coconutty alcoholic drink. What sheer bliss it was for once to not have to worry about anything. For a while at least. He began to stuff himself. "I'm beginning to like vacation Kechi. How about you?"

Soon they were both full content and picking their teeth, digestion would take a moment, and then they would go off and explore a new part of this island, as had become their habit since they got here. "Would you like to do a beach day my love?"
At her enthusiastic nod, he smiled warmly. Yesterday and the days before had been dedicated to the jungle and the botanical gardens. He had guessed correctly that she was missing the ocean. The staff cleared the table, and they set off on a leisurely past post breakfast stroll towards the ocean. The wind was up a bit and the beach and it played havoc with their hair. He was already having the best time. The waves crashed out a comforting rhythm on the beach sand, and they held hands as they strolled along. They reached the beach in no time, and he felt her relax beside him.
"Want to go octopus hunting?" It was a fun, sometimes complicated beach pastime. Both of them enjoyed it immensely.

She always felt better by the sea. The beach was a suitable substitute for being on the water. Oh yes, she loved octopus hunting. Octopi were worthy opponents, smarter than people thought, and quite muscular. She raced him to the tide pool, which was where they would likely find the cephalopods. It was an extensive array of tide pools. Maybe the hotel would appreciate one extra seafood too.

Octopus hunting was time consuming, but could be very rewarding if you found a big one, or more than one this curried quick to look under rocks and start their hunt. Nothing made her mind happier. It was never more obvious that she, too, came from a hunting type family. She lived for the hunt and respected the wildlife for providing for her and her family. They found two locked up together and worked to lure them with curiosity out of their hidey holes. They ended up with two enormous octopi that would provide many meals. Now there was no need to hunt for more, so they settled for looking in the tide pools. They found a trapped sport fish in one and they captured him too. The Inn cook would be most pleased with them. Later, they stopped and got shrimp and lobster for a spectacular seafood grill night at the market. They would ask the cook if he would collaborate with them tonight.

They took the catch back to the hotel. The kitchen staff were delighted. Then overly hot, they went for a swim in the warm waters. He loved anywhere that had a lot of water. He tried to avoid Oba, too hot, too dry. But now he almost wanted to see the other cool biomes that they had here, all had water. The Hapuna were particularly bright, where Menehune and Molokai were quite dark in skin.

It was beautiful here, so much plant life. But by far the best part was being here with her. She and all her glory lit up the sky for him every day she had she and as for yet, their only son made up the center of his world, the only family he had left. Maybe, just maybe, they could expand their family again by one or two more they could afford it, and valise was well on his way by now to being a fully fledged as a beast charmer. It ran in the family.
He did hold out hope for a hunter ranger among their offspring. He guessed Beastmaster Ranger was indeed better than no ranger at all. They decided to go swimming with the free time they had left before lunch. The water was warm, refreshing, and they giggled and splashed each other like a large toddlers before calling themselves out on the sand to bask in the sun for just a little while, it was okay to just be just to relax, and they might have fallen asleep under the shadow of the palm tree. They woke up at their leisure an hour or two later, refreshed and ready for more adventures.

When they were back at the Inn, sipping on fruit juice to beat the heat, they stuck up a conversation that inevitably led to the discussion of children. Her heart had been aching for a little one to care for for some time now. She was sure he had just been waiting for her. All this time.

"I've decided to stop drinking the penny roots tea. It broke my heart to see Vhallas graduate from apprentice to a beast charmer. A fine one, I'm sure he will be. But I can't help just see the lost tooth, the sippy cup, the teeny blanky bundle." Funny that she remembered that more than the thought awful labor her very heavy son had been.
"I want more children with you, Raolvar. I hope that, like me, you are ready to have more. I don't want to be an old granny sit by the fire with a toddler on my knee, and I have much more sailing adventuring to do but the earlier the better."

She took a deep breath and brushed an errant lock of hair from his handsome, noble face.

" So my love, what say you? Shall we bring forth more demons to bless the people of Tendaji with? I'm hopeful that we will have twins. It seems to run in the family."

She tilted her head up at him and looked at him deeply in the eyes. They had enchanted her from the start, so like her grandpa's, but slightly different for all that. Rao seemed at a loss for words.

He was at a loss for words. He had been wanting to ask her about that for ages, he just hadn't wanted to rush her. And she loved sailing so much and it was hard when you had very young kids, especially when her job, though she hadn't done any recent privateering, it was so dangerous.
"Yes, yes! I would like that very much. I was soon going to ask you the very same." He dipped his head and closed his eyes. Great minds think alike. He had wanted this for a long time as well, plus the preliminary activities were always quite enjoyable.

He clinked his glass to hers, and they settled into the glow of enjoyment. This was turning into the best vacation ever. He would remember it for the rest of his days. Even the air smelled different than Matori.

"I say we make this vacation a yearly thing. I'm having entirely way too much fun with you, all, to myself."

He wiggled his eyebrows at her, and they spent some enjoyable time alone in their room, and over many days to follow. Later, they decided to go do some souvenir shopping. He found the stone statue of a menehune god for Vallas, and thought that it would look neat on his son's bookshelf. Val was a closet academic and enjoyed mythology and social studies very much.

"I can agree to coming here every year."

Yes, she looked forward to it.

"Though I am not yet eager to leave here either."

She might not ever want to leave, but she would miss her son and her homestyle food and the rest of her family. However, she was having the time of her life. She found a long scarf for her son made of special, soft and durable menehuni fabric. He was turning into a right little sea captain, and she was so very proud that he had salt water in his veins, just like her.

"I'm hoping for a daughter to drive you crazy in your old age. However, another son would be easier to raise."
Boys were a bit hard at the beginning, but girls had their childhood quirks later on. So had she. Puberty was seldom kind. She herself, had been a right holy terror, and not much had changed since, really. She grinned savagely at the thought. This was what life was supposed to be about, creating children that would take over the world one day more likely than not. She looked forward to every minute of it. There was also something magical about the mother/child bond, and she wanted that again. She really missed when Vhallas had been very small, no more than a comforting warm, armful. He had been completely dependent on her, and she had loved the teeny clothes that went with having a youngling, and she had saved most of the ones that Vhallas hadn't destroyed.

"I will be happy with whatever gender of child you and the powers that be give me," he smooched her sweetly. "Now, how about some surfing to get our minds off of it, I need all the practice I can get if I want to keep up with you."

He really did. He was a beginner. It was something he never thought he would do, but surfing had awakened a new passion in him that he was not about to give up easily. There was something so freeing once you're able to conquer the waves and not fall off every third minute, plus a daughter would likely drive her more crazy than him until they reached dating age, and he was willing to make that trade off.

He just wanted more kids that was all maybe one that looked a little more like him and maybe another Kechiri clone or one in between, he was good with either. He didn't need a huge family, but he did want more than just one child, no matter how awesome that son had turned out to be. He too, wanted to be a dad again, to feel tiny fingers grab his, tiny feet pattering through the house and relive every new moment through fresh eyes. Family was the purpose, love the reward, and he wanted more of both, with his beautiful Kechiri by his side.

"Oh, you don't have to ask me twice." She's scurried to get ready, "All the better to come back to tonight's dinner with a proper appetite I would say."

She, of course, loved every moment spent on the salt water. She even loved how it felt in her hair, plus this ocean was quite vibrant and slightly unfamiliar, like a long lost aunt or some such she found the subtle difference scintillating.

They raced off into the surf and chatted happily together between sets, bringing up their favorite memories of her first pregnancy and Vhallas as a youngling, she had craved dry smelt and fish row of all things. He had been more than willing to oblige her. Their friend Theriar, had some of the best fish there was, and it was always fresh. I wonder what cravings will pop off if we are successful? Maybe it will be Menehune spices or octopus. Raol laughed so hard he nearly fell off the surfboard.

There was something about being out there with Rao and the waves for company. It was only out here with him that she could be around someone else and not have her guard up. She never needed her guard up with him. He was just part of her, but an external part, it was very hard to explain. She could be herself and be silly and relax thanks to her very, very sweet support of mate.

"Octopus would be really funny though, I have a hunch that this time you will crave gorgorum or red meat. You got a clone of you it is my turn." He teased and preened to amuse her. Flicking his wet hair so that it smacked him in the face.

He smiled when she did indeed laugh so hard she slid off her board which was much smaller than his and more manueverable. It would be a while before he got a smaller board.

"Glad you found that funny." He brushed his soggy mane of blue hair back behind his shoulders where it belonged.

"Well I think One more set and then we head back for dinner, with that octopus it is sure to be spectacular."

His stomach grumbled in agreement. He smiled sheepishly.
They each caught one last wave and headed in, just in time too as a rather large dorsal fin cruised through area they had been. Though the sharks usually knew what they wanted to eat and it wasn't people.

They packed up dried off and headed back to the Inn for a shower then they made their way to the dining hall, a special romantic area had been set up for them, he was quite touched.

They were not disappointed. So far as the food went, it was luscious and rich; octopus sushi, grilled sport fish and spicy rice, stuffed mushrooms and a creamy pudding like dessert, sheer heaven. They were isolated from the other diners with candlelight and wine. It was like the gods knew what they were about, and they wanted to help. She sniggered into her merlot, this was hospitality industry at its finest.

"You know, I think I would like to conceive on the water. It will take the herbs a bit to leave my system, and maybe we will get a baby who can do cool water magic like Ushiruin. Imagine what a power they would be with that our good looks and your brains.

She was clever, she was devious, but she would much prefer to read smut over anything else. It would be a particularly enjoyable long trip back home to Matori. She oogled her handsome mate over the remnants of the fish beast they had just shared.

" I honestly can't wait, though, there are some parts of pregnancy that I do not believe I will miss." The craving, the constant urge to pee and the tiredness combined with the irritability. But this was absolutely what she wanted for them both. He had fine genes. She wanted to see their faces all mishmash together again and how they changed over time, switching from looking more like her to more like their dad, to more like her to more like their dad.

"I can't wait to see that first day out of the womb."

Oh yes, his wife had most definitely caught spring fever, just as much as he had too.

"Being able to see them open their eyes and greet the world for the first time is just so rewarding. A glimpse of the persons who came before and another of the person they will be."

He adored spoiling her. She tended to take it better too when she was pregnant. He grinned fiendishly.

"We can head to the boat after dinner, if you want to ensure something comes of this trip, that juice might wear off quicker than you think, the stronger one made you batty, right?"

She had made him batty too, but he wasn't going to tell her that. He stood and took her hand waiting for her to finish the glass of wine before walking her off to the ship to see what they could see. One hour later found them walking hand in hand on the beach. Darkness had fallen, and they were walking with the occasional tiki torch alongside. I think valise will be quite excited to have a sibling and be an older brother. It would be good for him to have a mature role. He wished he knew what had happened to his blood family. All perished, he supposed, or he would have found them by now. Alas, but his new family was silk covered steel and that afforded him a modicum less worry.

"I think he will enjoy it too. I think he has been subtly hiding hints for us. Here and there," their son was about as subtle as a cannon, depending on his mood. Speaking of which, he seems to spend an inordinate amount of time with that young elementalist of Kylaelya's, you know, the one with teal hair, neice to Terrwyn and Vilter.

She rubbed her forehead, where most of that family had a distinctive cluster of crystals. "

You don't think that he might choose her?" Kechiri couldn't really blame her son if he did end up choosing Hrafn. The girl was seriously powerful and beautiful, reminding her of herself at that age, which, if the girl was similar to her, may or may not be a good thing. Party animal didn't really begin to cover it.

On the sea, she had been serious and feared. In the tavern, she had been respected for a well deserved reputation as a brawler and as someone who had, at times, taken a different sailor to her bed every night.

She had gotten older, she had decided to find a proper mate and settle down still Hrafn didn't seem a bad prospect, if a little headstrong, she and Kechi might butt heads if it did become a thing. She would have to get some tea. She was turning into granny Nin

" Well, there could be something there. I think only time will tell. Though, it took us rather long time to find each other. It does make me wonder if that is for sure," he wouldn't begrudge Vhallas, it was his life, and all the better for him if he found the right person earlier than he had.

He also knew that the likelihood of her being the magical one was about one in four to seven. However, there was always that possibility of a true love scenario, only time would tell so many things could randomly happen. Plus this could all just be smoke. The flame may never light, or it may be lit elsewhere.

That was the beauty of the juxtaposition of some days so many different lives all colliding together.

"I wouldn't worry over much about him. He has a good head on his shoulders. He will use it. I think. You my sweet, have a red blooded male right here to deal with."

He twirled her in a small circle in the sand. She went along. He knew he liked when she did spontaneous things. It usually fired her up and led her to sparring or other fun things. After a bout of skinny dipping in a nearby cove they went back to the room and after a hot shower, they dressed up in the robes and lounged on the bed with snacks.

After about a week, they finally decided that they needed to head home and check on their son. The ranch was a fortress. She was much more worried about their son, specifically. She hadn't wanted to leave, but her heart pulled her home so they went with a bevy of souvenirs. Raol had gotten her a dagger and an ornate vase. Where she had gotten him a new bow and leather belt in a Menehune style, popular at the place they stayed at. No doubt all would get the attention they deserved. The memories would stay forever.

She was pretty sure they would be returning in about a year, perhaps with a child or two in tow, depending on how it all went, she hadn't touched the herbs, and their voyage home should prove fruitful. They would take their time on the way home and continue to enjoy themselves. It would be a little harder to get alone time when they went home, not too hard, but a little harder, and not as hard as it used to be when Vhallas was younger as it was having the rest of the relatives in close proximity.

Perhaps they would escape to their second house more often. Yes, that might work out. It had been a while since they had been she couldn't wait to find out if they would bear fruit, if she would have to spend more time with Rao alone on the water, either way, it would be a good time, and she was still young enough to be fertile.
