◊ PERFECTIONIST Rian has always needed to know the right and wrong ways of doing something so that he could only ever do the “right” way. He will practice and practice until it becomes almost second nature.
◊ STEADFAST He’s very stubborn when it comes to everything he puts his mind to; lessons, writing, even playing! He has his own ideas and his own morals and he will refuse to budge unless given irrefutable proof to contradict it.
◊ LITERAL Rian is so good at following directives that he will follow them to the actual letter. It took him an embarrassingly long time to understand sarcasm or even jokes of this nature and he really doesn’t like them due to feeling like a punchline. If something needs to be done or if he needs to be somewhere at a certain time, guaranteed it will get done and he’ll be there not a second later.
◊ CHARMING Despite his rather obstinate stance and unfortunate understanding, Rian comes across to his adults and peers as a rather levelheaded and charismatic individual. He doesn’t like to stray far from the norm, gets good grades, and will offer help if he feels the need for it. He doesn’t often use it to his advantage, but he can and has in the past.
◊ OBSERVANT To aide his perfectionist practices, Rian likes to watch intently and study whatever it is he’s chosen to learn before he begins his own trials. Not just that, he likes to watch people as they go about their days and the animals in their large backyard. The world is a very fascinating place to him.
◊ QUIET Rian doesn’t like unnecessary noise and has taken to only speaking if he feels the need to. He doesn’t enjoy loud games or events preferring to keep himself entertained with quieter pursuits like reading and bird watching. The few games he plays with others his age are usually those that don’t have much shouting like the hag and the hares or monkey see monkey do.

CHILDHOOD Rian was born to father Michael Caulfrey, a pureblood wizard, and his mother Evangeline Vicroft, a muggleborn actress from a long line of tv and movie professionals. One of her far great grandparents had been a major backer and producer for Britain’s first picture corporation and it had trickled throughout her family line. Her own mother had been an actress and writer while her father was a critically acclaimed independent director. She had followed their footsteps-though a tad trickier with the inclusion of magic and Hogwarts-but ultimately after graduation she began her illustrious career. Her then boyfriend-now husband-had been fascinated by the technology and creativity of modern movie production and began investing his own family money into movies and tv scripts. Soon even his name was coming out as a well known and sought after financial backer. That was when Rian and soon after his younger brother Jonan, came into the world. Rian didn’t really care much for the newer movies his mother and father helped create, instead he much preferred the older ones-especially the silent-that his grandmother would sit and show him. After her death, she bequeathed to him all of her old films, projectors, and even saved costumes and props. One of his favorite things to do would be to set up his projector and carefully load in old film in his treehouse and spend hours lost in another time. When not doing this, he liked to observe the birds and other wildlife that filtered through their backyard. Living on their father’s older estate, he and his brother were able to traipse into the nearby forest at will to explore and play. Sometimes he would sit for hours in the same spot just watching as the animals lived their lives in peace. Rian wasn’t particularly excited about joining Hogwarts-school has always been a double edged sword for him and he was sure a magical sword would be more so-but he did really want to learn more about his magic. As neither parent would agree on homeschooling, he supposed this would have to do.
