"Speaking." 'Thoughts.'
Art class felt especially long and dramatic for Riven today. Multiple proposals and sparks flying left the duchess feeling utterly exhausted. If she wasn’t already feeling spent before, she definitely was now. Walking out of the greenhouse, she had assured her groupmates she was safe to find her way to her next location, but it was an excuse to fall asleep in the courtyard before their next class started. Her eyes were feeling especially heavy today, and she was not one to disobey the Sandman’s orders.
Looking to see if the course was clear, there was not a person in sight as she rested under a tree. It felt like the sun was blaring down on her as the winds whistled a calming tune. Her eyes closed as she started thinking about the day's events. Their assignment had turned into something out of her stories, where both men were fighting for her affections, leaving her defenseless to their charms. If the class had continued any longer, she was sure that she would have been put into cardiac arrest.
As her mind continued to wander, she found herself thinking about Adelaide and how she might think about today’s conversations. Riven had tried to be a good advocate for Addie, but had she been good enough? It was hard to tell, but she wanted to see her friend get the love and adoration she so rightly deserved. All her hard work had to pay off at some point, whether that be through marriage to the perfect prince or a gorgeous crown.
Suddenly, there she was, back to Dreamland. This was the familiar feeling she had been longing for all day. The fuzzy feelings in her body as she floated around observing the events around her. The sky was grayer than she remembered, noting the sounds of thunder and strikes of lightning. Finally, her eyes caught onto a familiar face, her Ladyship! Stuck outside in a block of ice? How?
Riven ran to save her, but her cries fell on deaf ears as she saw a flash of lightning strike once more. This time striking a tree beside Addie,
' Oh no! It’s going to hit Addie! I have to do something!' She could feel her body starting to sweat as she tried to run towards the girl, but it was too late, the tree had crushed the girl.
" Addie, Addie! Are you there?" Riven cried out, panicked about her sight. Unable to do anything besides cry for help.
