Selenga didn't really want to go out and patrol tonight. Life had been so shaken by the battle with the Calamitous Hollow, he just... He'd spent a few days at home, just enjoying life with his spouse. Qiye... He'd almost lost hir. Lost everything. He shivered. But the Negaverse probably wouldn't wait to start doing their dirty work again. So he had to go.

Sensing a signature, he beelined for it, ready to take action, but—

They were alone, whoever they were. Not bothering anyone. Just... quietly laying down on a park bench. Now that was odd behavior. Not suspicious, but odd.

"Hello?" he called out, baffled, as he approached, but didn't get too close.

"I don't believe staring boodily into the sky qualifies as nefarious, no," Selenga said blithely. "And to be quite honest, I don't even want to look for a fight right now. It's only been a few days since the giant snake mons...ter..."

He trailed off as he got closer and realized that the person he was talking to was half-youma.

Half snake youma.

... Was that offensive?

"Frankly, I'm still tired from that." He shrugged, moving on and hoping that this person didn't mind. "If you'd like some silent company that won't try to kill you..."

Trailing off again, he shuffled a bit closer and sat down in the grass on the edge of the bench that had the officer's feet. He felt that sitting beside the other man's head would be dangerous might make him feel threatened. Of course, he was also kind of out of sight back here... Well, the officer could move if he wanted.

"I was lucky. Barely. It felt like dying. I've, uh. I haven't heard exactly what happened to those who died for a minute, but... I could tell it wasn't good. There was the most haunted look in someone's eyes that I saw as we all started to leave."

He sighed, enjoying the silence for a long moment, looking up at the stars and wondering where the Hollow was. If it was staring at Earth. Watching. Waiting. Hungry.

He shivered.

Nagyagite's question, though, surprised him.

Carefully, he shifted to sitting lotus position, leaning forward to look closer at Nagyagite's face. "Yes. You find a princess and ask her for help. Lucky for you, I know one." He gestured to his outfit. "Squire of Ida, at your service, if you ever want it."

Selenga gave him a half smile, relaxing just a hair. "It sure doesn't have to be tonight. I know it's a big thing to do, and you probably have some things you want to set in order before you get out," he said reasonably. "If we set up a time to meet up and you bring an ambush, I'll be very disappointed in you."

He chuckled a little at himself. "Tell you what. I'll come to this spot, about this time, every night, until you're ready, and I'll get you the help you need. Sound good? Or there's always Kerberos, he hangs out in North End Park a lot to help guys like you; he knows Ida, too. He's an Eternal, has been for a while, so he can protect you better than me if it comes down to it."

"That's a good question," Selenga admitted, brow furrowing. "I hadn't considered that it would be different at all. But I'll look into it. I'm sure you can be helped somehow. I promise I'm going to help you, on my life."

He crossed his heart. "I'll send you a message the moment I know. Er, what's your name? I'm Selenga."

Selenga stood and held out his hand for Nagyagite to shake. "Unfortunately for you, I married into a very dramatic family," he said with a wry grin. "It rubs off. But I am serious. I keep my promises. Everyone needs help out of their dark places. Whatever that means for them. I have the ability to try, and so I must. I'll investigate. Keep yourself safe, for the time being."
