Rafferdeigh was giddy with delight. She couldn’t believe that she had magic! Since that initial discovery of her magic in the market, she had been playing around with the spark of her abilities; just to make sure she wasn’t imagining things. Now that she was certain it wasn’t a daydream, DeeDee had to share the news! “Ziocite! Where are you? Come out here!”

Gin Ae was inside reading a book when he heard his sister calling for their brother. He looked up from the pages and shifted his gaze around. He didn’t think Zoicite was around… With a soft sigh, he stood up and looked out the window. “He’s not here.”

Well, that wasn’t the voice she had been looking for. Not even their mothers? DeeDee deflated slightly and groaned. Now what?
She squinted at her younger brother and shrugged. If she didn’t share it with someone, she was going to burst! Gin Ae would have to work for now. “That’s okay. You come here then! I’ve got something crazy cool to show you.”

Gin Ae stared for a moment. DeeDee… wanted to see… him? His brow knit and he leaned out the window to look around suspiciously. Was this a joke? Was someone waiting around the corner to douse him with paint? “Why?”

DeeDee nearly rolled her eyes when she saw her brother’s wariness. Perhaps she had earned that a little bit… “I just told you. I’ve got something super crazy cool to show you.” She grinned and bounced on the balls of her feet. “Come on! I neeeeed to show someone. I promise you’ll like it.”

With his lips pressed together, Gin Ae finally nodded. DeeDee didn’t usually waste her time on him, so it must have been something actually interesting. Though content enough that this wasn’t a joke, he still walked outside with his usual reserved posture and his book held protectively over his chest. “What’s going on?”

Finally! DeeDee wiggled and shook out her arms. “Okay. Okay. So, I discovered something earlier today.” She closed her eyes to focus as much as she could through her excitement. Slowly, three small, faint balls of lights appeared in the air around her. She cracked an eye open to make sure it was working, and the biggest grin grew on the spot. Success!

Gin Ae’s brow cocked with confusion. His sister was so excited and then.. Just stood there like a statue? He was about to ask if she was okay when he noticed the faint lights. His eyes widened and he looked around again to make sure there wasn’t someone else doing this. Hold on.. He’s seen performers in town do that. “You have magic!” he cooed, his expression lighting up as well.

“Yeeeeeeeeah I do!” DeeDee’s cheeks almost hurt from all the smiling she was doing. She couldn’t help it though! It made her feel special. “I’m gonna get really good at it, too.”

Gin Ae giggled softly. “I know you will,” he assured without hesitation. DeeDee was good at lots of things, in his eyes. “That’s really cool, DeeDee.”

DeeDee raised her chin proudly from the confidence echoed back to her. Gin Ae might be a wisp of a boy, but he wasn’t a liar either. If he thought she could excel with her magic, then that was what he really thought!
“See this pendant? This is how I discovered it.” She pulled a necklace out with a big white pendant on it. The pendant had a strange marking etched onto it. She still wasn’t sure what it was. “Here. Can you sense it?”

Gin Ae immediately leaned away from the presented necklace. That was magic? His brow knit with concern while he peered at the mystical accessory. He couldn't sense anything. “Are you sure that’s safe?”

DeeDee gave a groan of a laugh and didn’t bother hiding a roll of her eyes this time. “Obviously, I don’t really know. I just found it at the market. I was holding it and thought it looked magic and then suddenly I could.. I could just tell. And now I can summon these lights. Can’t be a coincidence.” She ran her thumb over the mysterious marking. “I bet this mark has something to do with it. It’s like something on one of those rune stones some people carry around.”

Gin Ae’s brow furrowed further. “Maybe you should ask Makuahine about it..?” Though he was truly pleased to hear about DeeDee’s abilities, he didn’t like the idea of her just running around with some type of unknown, magical trinket. What if there was something darker inside it?

Welp, here came another heavy eye roll. DeeDee sighed heavily and slumped her shoulders in a dramatic pout. “Come on, Gin Ae! Of course I’ll get it checked out. Just let me have my moment, huh?” She put the necklace back into her bag, though it was tempting to simply wear it..
