A sigh escaped the corrupt as he watched the grey mauvian work on a contraption that Heliodor damn well knew he’d never be able to create let alone put together following the complicated looking plans from Almadel. The feline had taken advantage of the fact that the senshi was available at all times of the day, something Helio wasn’t sure if he appreciated or not. He’d become a glorified assistant to the feline. Opposable thumbs were certainly a bit more helpful in some instances than the chubby, adorable paws the mauvians were both blessed and cursed with. Poor Magnus had not achieved his human form yet, so Helio presumed it couldn’t be helped.

“You going to work on this all day now?” It had been a few hours since Helio had returned from gathering a few requested supplies and been pulled in to help in other ways.

Magnus’s tail flicked behind him at Helio’s question. He wasn’t bothered. Quite the contrary, having someone to talk to while he worked made for a much more enjoyable work environment. The sounds of tools hitting, and his own muttering could only keep him entertained for so long. So having another being there was an added perk. And, the best part was, Magnus knew that Helio had nothing better to do beyond going out to gather more energy. Both helping him here and gathering energy were equally important tasks in the mauvians point of view. “Well, considering we are short of time I think it’s safe to say that I should work as long as I can on it.”

With care, Magnus pushed in a small chipset onto the board he had been working on. “Are you bored?” He teased, blue eyes glancing over his furry shoulder to look at the corrupt who was lounging lazily on a chair in the workroom like he hadn’t a care in the world.

A groan. “You damn well know I have nothing else to do.” Helio remarked, eyes narrowing. “But I’d rather actually be doing something.”

“It’s not like I can just give you the plans and tell you to have at.” Magnus remarked as he turned his focus back onto the task at hand. The board he was working on was fully complete now and needed to be connected to the rest of the device.

“Here. You can connect these wires. Here. Here and here. Then carefully seat it into this spot here.” He pointed to the location that had a few small screw holes and brackets for the board to sit on. “You can screw it in, but don’t make it too tight.”

Helio had practically bounced up when Magnus finally had something for him to do. Taking the board he looked to the area it was supposed to go into and the wires that were to connect into it. How the hell did these Mauvians deal with such small things all of the time? Especially one like Magnus with his plentiful fur just getting in the way and onto things that look like it could cause problems if it got inside.

“Got it. Where’s the…ah.” He found the small screw driver. Screws he discovered tucked laying in a small metal tin. With care and knowing a pair of blue eyes were occasionally checking in on him, Helio did as he was asked. Each wire was carefully connected and the board slipped into it’s spot. Now, what Magnus meant by not tightening it too much was perplexing. How much was too much? He turned the screws just to the point that they sat flush and stopped. Curiously he pushed the side of the board a bit to see if it would move and it remained in place without sliding.

Magnus had been busy putting together more components of the satellite. It was convenient the device was so small. It made it easier for a small creature like a mauvian to work on. No need to bounce all over, and it also meant it required less materials. Thankfully, Almadel had been generous enough to supply the more rarer and delicate materials. Without them, the devices would be nothing more than more space debris. He was curious though how much the satellites would be able to do. How many of them would there be? They only had so much raw material, after all.

“Hey. How about we take a break for 30 minutes or so?” Magnus suggested finally.

“Thank gods. I was wondering if you were going to ever get hungry. Or thirsty for that matter.” Magnus had been adamant that no liquid be brought near the satellite device. ‘Accidents happen and accident or not they can be devastating to technology.’

“Let’s go back to the house. You can make me something to eat then.” Magnnus grinned as he put down the wrench he’d been using.

“If by make you food you mean heat some left-overs up for you, then sure. I haven’t been grocery shopping.” He shrugged. “But I know there’s more than enough stashed in that fridge. Albite went a bit overboard two nights ago.” He didn’t give the mauvian much time to complain before he scooped the feline up and teleported to the house. He didn’t much like teleporting into the building itself. Old habits were hard to kill, but also, he never knew if someone was visiting and he feared hurting someone with a sudden arrival. Instead, he utilized the empty unused space just outside of the house.

Magnus, wasn’t perturbed by the abruptness of their departure. The promise of food was a way to the Mau’s heart. Food was yummy and wonderful no matter if it was freshly made or leftovers. He wasn’t one to ever complain. When they arrived in front of the house, Magnus leapt from Helio’s arms and padded up to the door, pausing only to wait for Helio to open it and let him in.

The house was quiet. Magnus couldn’t hear a single person in the building. Seemed others were out working as well. With impending doom quite literally hanging over all of their heads people were more motivated to not slack off.

Helio closed the door behind them and made for the kitchen. It didn’t take long for him to gather the left over thai food in styrafoam containers. He set to warm them up via the stove before finally plating them both reasonable helpings up. All the while, Magnus sat and watched him like he was some sort of manager.

“Here ya go.” Helio plopped a plate in front of Magnus followed by a small bowl of water. He leaned against the counter then, plate and fork in hand, his own cup in front of him.

“So.” Helio pushed some of the pad thai around on his plate as he gathered a bit on his fork. “How much longer do you think that satellite thing will take until you finish it?” He took a bite.

Magnus slurped up some noodles without abandon and chewed with a very pleased look upon his face. It wasn’t until he swallowed and had some water he finally responded. “A few more hours. If I work the rest of the day and into the night I’ll have it finished by morning I think.” That, of course, was assuming that nothing went wrong from here on out and that he didn’t make any mistakes with his reading of the instructions given to them.

Helio sighed but nodded as he chewed contemplatively. “If it’s alright with you, I’d like to get out and gather some more energy. Do you think you can do without me for a bit? Maybe an hour or so?” His fork scraped on the plate as he gathered up another bite.

Mouth full again, Magnus waved a paw. “I’ll be fine without you.” He said around his food. “Just check in when you’re back. I think I’ll need you when it’s time to put the whole thing together.” Well, more like it would be easier with Heliodor around to lift and manuver while Magnus connected all of the points. “You just need to take me back, of course.”

Helio chuckled. “Well you certainly can’t work on that thing from here, now can you? I am not going to just abandon you here. Though, I think you might be happy to eat the rest of the food in that fridge with how quickly you are plowing through that pad thai.” The plate Magnus had been working on was more than half finished already. It was impressive how quickly the Mau could put the food down.

Magnus grinned around a mouthful of noodles. “I wuv fwoof.” His mouth was far too full to try and talk, but attempt the feline did.

“At least wait until your mouth isn’t so full to try and talk.” Helio took another bite befor downing his entire glass of water.

“Get a bit of rest, and I’ll take you back, alright? Knowing you, you won’t sleep at all either. You Mauvians are all the same when it comes to your tech.” He stretched his arms up, arching his back and was rewarded with a soft crack. “Mph.” A sound of approval.

I have a few things to do upstairs. When I finish up we can head out, alright?”

Magnus nodded as he quite literally licked his plate clean. “Deal.”
