While mirrors themselves are common in Mirrorspace, seeing more than your reflection is not. As such, the sudden recurrence of large mirrors, sometimes giant in scale, would have been notable enough even if they weren’t also depicting a clear view into distant space. These mirrors display both the beauty of space, and the horrors; characters may find views of worlds that appear alive and well, or sparkling stars or swirling galaxies, but they may also find what appear to be husks of worlds–dried out and withered. Great black holes. Debris. Maybe even the floating carcass of some strange, unidentifiable creature*. It is as if they are looking out of a spaceship window, watching the universe go by.
It is impossible to walk through these mirrors; any attempt to do so may result in feeling a strange electric hum, or small to large shocks or sparks depending on how intense the attempt is. The mirrors have a great deal of energy and wraiths will often be seen gathered around them or draining energy. However, the strain is immense and these mirrors often crack under the pressure. Once broken, the view disappears and the mirror reverts to shards of glass.

All of the weird lightning storms lately had made Gabi reluctant to power up into Lete too much. She didn’t know what was going on around here, but she didn’t like it. Generally speaking, she also didn’t entirely want to find out what was happening because it was probably shitty and dangerous and awful. Leave things like that to weirdo freaks like Murikabushi and all of his cop-a** White Moon friends, if you asked Lete.
Unless your name was Demeter, in which case you had never done anything wrong ever in your life.
Listen, it wasn’t Lete’s fault that pretty much everybody with the White Moon sucked and was awful except for Demeter and people who wanted to join the Court. Or the Negaverse too, that was fine, but joining the Court was the inherently superior option, in Lete’s personal opinion that literally no one had asked for. Unless, of course, the person in question was the petite redhead whose hand fit so perfectly in Lete’s own as Lete walked them through a mirror hidden in an alley between a used music store and a dance studio. Everything with Demeter was perfect, because Demeter made everything better.
Except tonight, as they mirrorwalked into the Common Room, something about the air in Mirrorspace felt distinctly, unmistakably, and yet, unidentifiably wrong. Lete wrinkled her nose, looking around them and finding nothing that immediately seemed out of place……but Mirrorspace was a big place, with an innumerable number of hidden corners. And there were nicer things waiting. Nicer things that Lete wanted to enjoy, like whatever seeds Demeter might have found to plant in the garden this time, and watching Deme light up about how the other plants were doing (the same way they’d done for the matching couple squishmallows Lete had given them for Valentine’s Day, one shaped like a strawberry latte and the other shaped like a caramel latte).
But when the vibes in Mirrorspace felt so not right like this……
“Hey, babe, I know we were gonna go right to the garden, but……” Lete turned to face Demeter directly, tension and concern obvious in her furrowed brow and slight frown. “But Mirrorspace really doesn’t feel right tonight, and I—taking care of it is sort of our job as Mirror senshi? Would you mind taking a look with me before we head to the garden?”
