He would have preferred going out and clubbing, and finding someone to entertain himself with, but apparently duty called and Desiree wasn’t going to let him do his own thing. She had decided he needed to do his duty and gather energy; whatever. He was waiting for her so he could get to doing the energy gathering, because apparently the world was going to try and end itself or something like that. He did care, he really did, but he also couldn’t wrap his head about things and believe it. Magic was real, he understood that, but seriously? The world ending due to some space monster - bullshit.
Rolling his eyes he glanced about, wondering from which direction she’d come, at least the park was quite and he was safe at the moment. No order, no other chaos, nothing else that he could sense anyway. He knew that didn’t mean a whole lot but it meant enough, it meant no one was close enough to attack him, Hedwig spent the time waiting for Desiree by going over the school work he had in his head. He had a few things to do, things which weren’t due yet, some things however were due soon - like really soon. Should he get to work on them? Yes. Was he going to work on them? Yes, eventually…like the night before they were due.

Approaching quickly, Desiree clicked her keychain and returned back to her feline form, staring at Hedwig as she made her final approach. She quite liked travelling via the bus system, it gave her time to read or work on things from a small laptop she'd built that fit neatly into subspace if she needed it. Not everything was for the Negaverse, so it had been a little side project of hers while working on the location application for Benitoite for those odd little plants she'd catalogued. "You look well rested, considering things." It was like pulling teeth between her and Liam to get Aloysius to not go off somewhere for things. Her poor musician looked like he was about to fall over dead from exhaustion, but she knew why he was doing it. "Melpomene let me know about the different mirror shards and the method that Mirror space has decided would help with things. So it seems we need to get you out doing a bit more." With that, she threw her side into his shin and started on towards the planned patrol route for tonight.

"I heard as well, though you might wish to fill me in more on things. I've only heard so much but it does seem larger than what I've heard." It seemed a whole lot larger, enough that weather was being dictated by it. This wasn't something small and for needs to be placed on them, when they hadn't been before, it was big and he knew it. That didn't mean he wanted to help, he really didn't, he didn't want to be involved in this all and he still didn't believe in planet devouring serpents...but whatever. He still knew something big was going down, he just didn't believe the serpent story.
Looking down at her, feeling her bumping into his legs, he leaned down just enough to pet her before whispering. "Lead the way, I'll do the gathering." Or rather his wraith would, he didn't actually have to gather energy on his own. "You can explain this method to me as well?" Yup, he really didn't know much of what was going on, this wasn't his thing really, and he knew the mauvian was more dedicated as were those around him...but he just couldn't. He was doing enoguh by gathering energy, like he did fairly often due to Desiree making him, and that was more than enough he figured.

Padding along as she looked up at Hedwig, her tail flicked back and forth as she thought. "There's a need for a lot of energy, for mirror it's to help with that weapon and for the others, it's to try and diverert the thing. I intend to help with some tinkering on another front, but I need to make sure everyone is doing their part properly." Pointedly looking at him, she paused only for a moment while walking before continuing on and nodding for him to send out his wraiths. "The specifics would be something for Melpomene to go over with you, something he should be reaching out to you shortly about after he reconvines with Chal." Hopefully, the blonde could get her musician to rest even for a moment, one way or another, but she'd find out about that after she did her due diligence here.

Ouch, that was a dig at him, he wasn't sure how to feel about her words which were certainly aimed at him. He understood her words though, and the reason for them, since he wasn't exactly interested in duty and responsibility and Desiree knew it.
"If not I'll reach out to him." Since he was sure there was no way he was getting out of this, and maybe he should actually try here. He knew this was big, something big was coming, and so maybe for once he should try and take things seriously? Yes, it did seem like a good idea and Desiree wouldn't leave him alone if he didn't do things, if he didn't take this seriously.
Sending his wraith out, as they got close to a group of people, he let it set to work on gathing energy. "The...outcome of this all...does it look good for us all?"

Nodding in approval at Hedwig's mention of reaching out first, she was glad they seemed to get some understanding of what was going on. It wasn't something avoidable and she could push as needed to make sure everyone that could be involved was involved. "Good, he's been working on things as well to make sure that the mirror can help everyone. Even our enemies have gotten to a point of understanding that cooperation is imperative." Watching the wraith, she kept close to his leg and occasionally thwapped the tip of her tail against his shin. It was better to keep close in order to avoid bumping into things or other people, given her less-than-amazing eyesight. "If we all do our part, things will return to their normal order. The alternative... well if we all fail then nobody has to worry about anything anymore. Take that as you will." It was grim but the truth, something she knew some people were betting on or didn't care at how much would be destroyed.

"You mean senshi and knights..." Because he hadn't really dealt with them, he'd had it fairly lucky perhaps? But he understood that they were the enemy, though Melpomene had said the dark mirror court tended to be more neutral so senshi and knights weren't all the enemy. Some were though, he knew that, but he was assuming Desiree meant senshi and knights were working with the Negaverse as well.
"So then this whole world eating thing....it's real. Not some made up bullshit. Because the idea of a serpent that eats worlds sounds like a load of s**t. Magic is real, I'll give that, and space travel....but that is a whole lot harder to believe." And yet really it shouldn't be, not that he was thinking about that, but walking through mirrors, wandering about distant planets, and magic were as impossible as a planet devouring serpent really. He just wasn't seeing that at the moment, might not until face to face with it actually.

"Yes, I do mean them." It wasn't something she liked to talk about much, considering things, but for now, there was an uneasy truce for most. She could agree with it sounding like bullshit, but apparently this wasn't the first time something ridiculous had happened, she'd read many reports of things coming up in the past. Most of which had happened without Chal's involvement due to him being indisposed. While she couldn't do anything back then to help, she was determined to do what she could now. "Learn what you can while you can, even if you don't like being involved, this city finds a way to make you be involved. Melpomene and I can help at times, but you really should look into reaching out to other senshi of the court." Not quite pawning him off, but gently trying to pester him into networking, she figured it would be best on the off chance none of them could come and assist the man. Liam's priority was Aloysius's health, so in a fight, she knew Hedwig needed some more people to watch his back. Already she saw one of the wraiths heading back, not quite transparent and full of energy. Things were different this time, in a way she wasn't exactly sure of, but Mirrorspace apparently was just as much of a mystery as most other things in this city.

"I don't like the idea of working with people I don't like...it feels like betraying myself and my beliefs." He was very good to those he liked, very giving and helpful, even though he did ditch on those same people...even though he always made up for it. But he also did not compromise with those he didn't like - he let them know it. He'd never had an issue in hiding such things, that he didn't like someone, and he didn't do nice with such people - ever.
"I'll do what learning I can, just incase this city decides to implode, I'd like some warning before things go to hell so I can escape to some island somewhere." At least that way he'd be safe, his family wouldn't have to buy a box to bury his pieces in, and he could enjoy a nice tropical island while s**t hit the fan here. As much as he said the words, and as nice as they sounded, he doubted the mauvian at his side would allow him to escape to some tropical island. She might just find a way to track him down...or cancel his flight even.
"You want me to make friends....but friends aren't loyal - they have some uses but you're asking me to trust people." And he didn't trust easily, he was good to his friends but he also didn't expect much from them in return. But they also shouldn't expect a lot from him, aside from gifts, because he was as flighty as he expected them to be. He supposed it was only fair really. But his words also showed just how he thought of people...Melpomene and Chalcanthite included. He didn't make strong connections to people, even those two, they were just around because he allowed it for now...it served a purpose and it was something he allowed in his life for right now.
Looking to his wraith he let it enter the mirror shard he had, and slipped it up his sleeve. "So how am I turning these things in now...I've never had to worry about this before."

Not bringing attention to the fact they didn't like working with people they didn't like, she was pretty confident that she was on the list. Not that she really care, he didn't need to like her as long as he did the work that was required. She didn't care if he liked her or not, not like she cared over her other senshi like Ako and the hopeful prospect of the alien woman. "I can keep that in mind, Chalcanthite has always been looking for ways to get out of the crossfire, so it's understandable for anyone to want to be able to do the same." Not that escaping anywhere on this planet would really do much if things went south this time. "I never said friends, you don't have to like someone in the court to have someone looking out for you or giving a heads up. Unlike the negaverse there's more of a sense of community with the mirror, like it or not." Flicking her tail, she watched a particularly bright crackle of purple lightning up in the sky. "Melpomene will help you with that part, I believe there is something in the common room but I can let him take that part over for now. You might not like any of us but Melpomene isn't one to break one's trust. Listen to him, he actually cares about your wellbeing." With a huff, she started leading them back towards one of the marked mirrors. She'd had enough of them for now, she had more important things to do.
