Saiph had been expecting the summons ever since the hologram, ghost, whatever-she-was of Queen Serenity had promised to do something that could help them. Still, when it came, the chibi was a little surprised. Maybe it was because part of her hadn’t expected the Queen to come through. After all, what exactly could a hologram do?
Apparently quite a lot.
Relaxing and accepting the summons, she thumbed the icon on her phone that would help her make her way up. And when she got there, the room was familiar enough. She was ready to dismiss it and go looking when something itched at her brain. Pausing, she studied the room and felt her eyes go wide when she saw the open doorway. Now that was new. The last time, it had been blocked off and completely impassable. Taking this as a good sign, Saiph crept through the doors and gasped as she saw this new room. There was no sign here of ruin or decay. Everything was softly shining and whole. There was something in the air here that demanded respect and care, but in a very gentle way. She couldn’t explain the feeling, she only knew it was.
Moving forward, eyes locked on the pillar of crystal at the center of the room, Saiph jumped as Queen Serenity’s disembodied voice suddenly began to speak to her. There was plenty that she didn’t understand, like what a Silver Crystal might be or how prayer alone had been enough to protect this place. But then, she reasoned, it’s magic. I’m listening to the voice of a woman centuries dead who can still accomplish things.
Prayer being used to charge a honking great, though beautiful chunk of rock was hardly the weirdest thing about any of this.
And if doing this gave them all a better chance of defeating a world devouring space snake, well. How could she refuse? Kneeling and facing the Tower, Saiph closed her eyes and reached out to place a hand against the smooth crystal. She wasn’t sure what, exactly, she should focus on in order to resonate. Though, maybe if this place and this Tower had once been used to focus prayer, maybe… maybe it wouldn’t hurt to think in those terms.
Saiph didn’t exactly pray, but she thought about what Queen Serenity’s voice had said and how they were doing this to help save everyone. She would give whatever she could if it meant saving countless lives and possibly worlds. As she sank deeper into thought, she could imagine her starseed vibrating slightly as it sought to connect with the Tower. She became aware of a slight chill in the air and the utter silence around her. But she pushed those thoughts away. They wouldn’t help her.
Then, finally, after what had felt like ages, Saiph felt something inside snap into place and her magic began to flow into the crystal. Focusing on how it felt, she willed as much as she could to move from herself to the Tower. After what felt like another age, Saiph felt the connection break off and sagged to the floor. She felt cold, but she was pleased. She’d helped. Giving the Tower a pat, she rested a moment. As soon as she felt able, she’d go home and sleep. All that mattered was that she’d done her bit.
