Khalima Dark Shaman
The sun shone brightly, heating up the stones that dotted this rather arid place within the Roguelands. Scorpions and other dangerous creatures creep under those hot stones and water is scarce but not impossible to find. It isn't a desert but it is hot enough where shade is a well sought after thing and even the biggest baobab trees don't keep foliage for long. The ground is pale, sandy like and dry and it only rains during the rainy season here, but in this baobab grove is a small natural spring. Its waters are slightly gritty but those dying from the heat and dehydration don't complain. The pool of water is hidden by the grove and it is only 2-3 feet deep unless it rains (no crocks or hippos). It is here, in this harsh oasis that one can find Khalima. She travels here regularly to make medicines and harvest certain roots and it is also here that animals come to also seek her help. Khalima guides those who wish it, aids in obtaining medicines and at times preforms her questionable "rituals" here. Many Kings of the past have walked these grounds, traveling from far and wide for her "unique talents", however Khalima's tracks are usually the only lion tracks here these days. Nightfall brings a reprieve from the heat but Hyena's roam here occasionally so the young aren't normally brought here for this reason. here and there lay sun-bleached bones on the dry ground, bearing the teeth marks of lions and Hyenas alike, if you can find anything left after the Hyenas are done.

Khalima isn't here to fight but she will so tick her off at your own risk. Sense she is a shop function so she may be defeated and even really injured, but not kill-able.

Prompt to start from if one on one or first post. After that please backread to make sure where Khalima is
Khalima arrives after a very long journey and makes a beeline for the cooled waters of the spring, her mouth is dry and her pads are sore but it is all a very familiar experience. Her exotic pattern and color hide her well here but her green shawl makes her a lot more visible here at the same time, but it provides her with steady protection from the sun on her back. She stops at the slightly muddy edge of the water and she looks about with her bright green eyes, Her mouth open as she pants but she checks for danger first no matter how thirsty she is. Khalima finally lowers her head and crouches her streamline body close to the ground, keeping her sensed alert and begins to lap at the water. Her reflection morphed as the water rippled out away from her, drinking deeply of her well hidden pool. The water can be smelled tho and it is how most animals find it, including the lizard that has decided to get a drink not far from her. She pays it no mind, hunting is not usually what she is here for and she starts to recite her list in her head again. A list of roots, herbs, and minerals that she is here for.
After her drink she raises her head again to peer over the surrounding brush, her eyes are sharp and her ears are up as she looks for a good shady spot to lay for a bit. She wants to rest a while before scouring this arid territory of hers for what she needs. What better place that right where she is, where the earth is cooled and moistened by the spring. So she lays on her left side, her paws are very happy to have the break as she starts to groom herself, ridding her paws of debris and cleaning the dust out of her fur for a while.
Abeni had heard of the lioness that did things that were not considered normal she had a home and family in the rougelands there were lions that needed care and it wasn't easy to seek out a Shaman so she hoped that the Dark Shaman might agree to teach her, so she could spread the knowledge across the lands. She knew it wouldn't be easy and it wouldn't be easy to convince the other lioness to help her. She walked across the hot ground. The sun beat down on her fur. She had strange colors and patterns herself and she felt that if she could learn the other lionesses' ways things would be easier for everyone. She could only hope that reason would be enough to convince them. She scented the air trying to find water.
She caught the scent finally and then the scent of hopefully the lioness she sought. Once she finally saw her she stood quietly and did not speak first watching to see if she was welcome or if she should say something first. She wanted to start this off on the right paw and she didn't want things to go poorly from the start. She wondered why she decided to come to this terrible place.

Khalima was being witnessed grooming, though she seems relaxed her guard is never truly down anyway. Her bright green eyes open and roll to the side, she could hear the approach of thirsty paws a moment ago but here Khalima acts less on guard, no cubs to protect here. She stops licking at the dust on her pelt and watches the new Lioness a moment, wondering if she is going to drink or just stare at Khalima but it is understandable. To assist in the ease of tension Khalima speaks, her tone isn't mean or angry but her natural voice is jagged and edgy " Come.. Drink and find shade young one " Her keen ears stay alert to the prey colored Lioness' movement but her eyes close again and she stars grooming her paws, chewing at bits of dirt between her rather sharp black claws.
Abeni nodded her head and did as the other lionnes said, she wanted to make a connection with her and sharing something like water was a good step right? Khalima had started curling her head downward licking her fur flat on her chest while Abeni drank a moment, but when she spoke to Khalima she pauses a moment in her licking, rather funny moment too, her tongue still out of her mouth. she sat like that a moment or two with a hard to read expression other than the slightly silly way her mouth looked but she finally drew her tongue back in with a slight pop to her jaws. She had contemplated an apprentice more than once, but never ran across a lion or lioness that, was either a good fit for it or one she could tolerate long enough to teach. Abeni's direct approach was interesting, she didn't mince words and didn't try for formalities or even waiting to see if Abeni even could tolerate Khalima either. She spoke with that somewhat ragged voice of hers "So one believes there sszshould be more Lioness' to go and to mend? Many do not feel that I am a very pllllleasant teacher.. My standards can beee... Harsh.." Khalima watches Abeni for reaction, for thought and yet those green orbs in her head gaze so strangely at her. Khalima can see the determination and truth in this lioness, she can see the promise but can this Lioness handle having a teacher like Khalima? It is what has lost her apprentices in the past... If they didn't die that is. Khalima is also not one to just take an apprentice on a whim either.
Abeni smiled sharply and said "I do not fear a harsh paw, I feel in my heart that this is important, spreading your knowlege and then teaching the young perhaps when they are young, you find homes for lost cubs yes? Perhaps once you have taught me if you agree, I can adopt one of your cubs and teach them so the web of healing spreads across all the lands one day." She looked off into the distance thinking of the other lions that needed her. "Lions and lionesses alike get hurt and normally that is a death sentance since that is how the circle of life works." She sighed "But perhaps the end of ones life dosen't have to be for a foolish mistake." She said softly. "My rouge group dose not have a healer; most groups do not."

Abeni smiled sharply and said "I do not fear a harsh paw, I feel in my heart that this is important, spreading your knowlege and then teaching the young perhaps when they are young, you find homes for lost cubs yes? Perhaps once you have taught me if you agree, I can adopt one of your cubs and teach them so the web of healing spreads across all the lands one day." She looked off into the distance thinking of the other lions that needed her. "Lions and lionesses alike get hurt and normally that is a death sentance since that is how the circle of life works." She sighed "But perhaps the end of ones life dosen't have to be for a foolish mistake." She said softly. "My rouge group dose not have a healer; most groups do not."
"It is an unfortunate trrruth that there are too few that know medicine. Some even believe what I do is an affront to the Circle of Life. " Khalima snorts at her own comment and adds something in a tone that is very dark " If only they knew.." Her eyes still study this Lioness, she has a sharpness to her and that's good, she will need it in Khalima's opinion. you would think those who can save a life from illness or injury would be more welcomed but Abeni may face redicule and rejection. She finally stands and leans her upper half down into a long and pointy clawed stretch, she is leanly muscled but also lean in a way where she hasn't got much body fat, a sign that she hunts alone, eats alone and misses many meals for the cubs she saves. She speaks again, that strange draw in her words. "Yes I find lost or abandoned cubs from time to time and.. IF they are strong enough to make it to my otherrr territory, then there is a chance I can find them new parents. One thing at a time tho for this one. This ooone wants me to teach her but hasn't even given me her name" her eyes have never left Abeni.
Abeni shook her head. "Then they have forgotten history, for there are stories about great healers, perhaps not lions, but I do not know where the great Rafki or any of his apprentices are now do you?" She paused and then said "Perhaps it is more stuited to Baboons that are apart from their own kind but the talent is still important, giving up on a life before it's time is not right." She ducked her head and then said "I am sorry for not introducing myself sooner I am Abeni." She looked into the distance thinking. "The circle of life is a magical thing, life is destroyed to make room for new life, but since there is knowledge to heal I think it should be honored as long as it is used for good not evil."

Abeni shook her head. "Then they have forgotten history, for there are stories about great healers, perhaps not lions, but I do not know where the great Rafki or any of his apprentices are now do you?" She paused and then said "Perhaps it is more stuited to Baboons that are apart from their own kind but the talent is still important, giving up on a life before it's time is not right." She ducked her head and then said "I am sorry for not introducing myself sooner I am Abeni." She looked into the distance thinking. "The circle of life is a magical thing, life is destroyed to make room for new life, but since there is knowledge to heal I think it should be honored as long as it is used for good not evil."
"One would be surprised" Khalima studies Abeni a moment or two more, Then finally broke her gaze away and walks closer to the Lioness, then has herself a seat next to Abeni. She is roughly the same size in height at Abeni but she is slightly thinner, missed meals are not uncommon for Khalima, more than most rogues but her constant travel keeps her very fit at the same time. She stares at the water before them and continues to speak. "Rafiki is probably dead by now, that was very long agooo. He carried teaching I still do not yet know and I do not think he apprenticed anyone. A mistake on his part." She lifts her head and her riddles fall upon the air " Abeni the Wanderer, This one's spirit is strong and she reaches for hope..Hope......" Her speech pattern takes a sudden shift as she watches the clear and hot sky. For the first time saying words like you instead of this one " I will teach you, if you will learn, if yooouu will be obedient to an extent. Ask questions and I hope you have a strong stomach. Many of the herbs you will learn to chew are foul at best, Many of the roots are putrid and yet sweet." Her head and green eyes lower and she looks to Abeni again, "Many of them will make you ill at first but it will pass and You will travel with me eveywhere. I make many journeys from here all the way to the edges of the brushlands and all the waaay to the Jungle of Secrets, but it you stay with me, You will learn but I cannot always save you. That will be up to you."

She laughed. She grew serious as Khalima spoke of lessons. She nodded "How long shall we stay here before we start our journey?" She asked. Since she expected others would come to seek Khamlima's guidance as well.
Khalima nods and leans her shoulder and head over and against Abeni's shoulder and head, marking her with her scent. She isn't rough about it but she doesn't take long. It is no surprise that Khalima is not a terribly affectionate Lioness. Abeni is colored like prey, colored like a good meal but she is bold and does not waste time with idle words. Khalima's voice is rough around the edges a little more today than others as she speaks. "You, Mouse, will begin tomorrow, today we recouperaatte. I am older than most would think" Classic Khalima giving strange titles to those she meets, and many do not understand them either for a very long time, if ever. Khalima stands from her new apprentice and walks toward the shade, it is getting hotter as the searing African sun hangs high in the sky. She , much like most wise lions will sleep while it is the hottest. Under the shade of the near by baobab tree's barren limbs, She lays with a slight flop onto her side, some would think she was grumpy perhaps. "I suggest you do the same Mouse" (This rp has ended.. for now 3nodding )
Khalima paces back and fourth in the brush, not far from the pools edge, Her claws raking the ground here and there and her spotted sleek head kept low. She was looking for something, constantly taking in the dusty air within her maw and occasionally grunting to herself. Her job as a Shaman always kept her busy, looking for herbs, roots and even certain bugs when the season was right. The sun hung high right now as it was mid day heating the ground even in the shade, but Khalima didn't pay it much mind. Her thoughts were focusing on what she was looking for and the other things she was here to get. She frequented this small spring often, it was a great place to find quite a few things she used in her medicines, or even perhaps in her dark rituals. The rumors told that if someone needs her help, her aid with illness or injury or her guidance, that it was here that they could find this mysterious and somewhat viciously strange lioness. Some say Khalima is evil and a cannibal, some say she is crazed from a life led alone and others whisper about how she trains other shaman. Where the truth lies? Lions and animals will just have to come and find out for themselves and take that risk.
