He knew the storms weren't natural, and he knew that the database was sure to have some information about it. Provided, of course, that other people were able to find out anything about it. Either way, the first thing Emain Ablach did when wondering about what was going on was to query the database. A snake monster and storms from outer space?
Well, it was a day ending in "y", wasn't it?
Teegan ran a hand through his hair and exhaled slowly, leaning back in his chair and looking down at where he'd been fruitlessly trying to work on a sermon as his hand rested for a moment on the back of his neck. This wasn't just a random-a** youma, though. This was bigger, meaner.
His eyes slide from the catechism in front of him to the votive candles he'd brought in from their holders outside. With the bad weather about, it'd been decided that they should take care not to damage anything they could avoid damaging. So Teegan had rounded up all of the Lent and Easter decorations that had been set out and around and brought them inside for the time being. There were gaps in the storms, he assumed, but nothing that warranted the risk of one of their metal crosses going through the windows of the sanctuary or one of the houses nearby.
As Teegan got up and gathered his coat, he made sure his clerical collar was straight before donning his coat, grabbing his wallet and keys, and heading for the door. No use looking like a rumpled seminary student, notebooks under his arm.
Unfortunately, his preparedness could not save him from the click-whirr of a dead car battery. He tried the key in the ignition a couple more times, all to the same effect. None of them got the engine to turn over or the car to actually turn on. What's worse, he knew the jumper cables were at home, in the garage. Even if he flagged someone down on the street, he doubted they would be able to help him without them.
Teegan groaned and leaned back in his chair. Gazing out of his windshield, he considered his options. He moved to call one of the other three, figuring the ribbing would be worth not having to call an Uber or take the bus home, only to see the screen of his phone flash no battery life when he turned it on. He could have sworn he'd charged it, but he'd been so busy preparing for Lent that maybe he had been mistaken--
That left one option.
Grumbling, Teegan hauled himself back out of his car with only his phone, wallet, and keys, but this time without the cassock and with his shield held awkwardly outside of the door. He beeped the car closed and disappeared his phone, wallet, and keys to wherever things went when subspace was involved. A mauvian could probably tell him--
Was that a Chaos signature nearby? He groaned. Maybe he could get around them. But if they were hurting someone... ...Alright, fine, he would check it out to make sure they weren't hurting anyone. Then he would trudge all the way back to the house and have someone drive him back with the jumper cables.
He did keep his shield low. It was wood, true, but there was no sense in taking that chance.
