He had planned to talk to Remarque since the start of things, he honestly had, but he'd gotten a bit tied up in trying to gather information..and failing at some points. It was nearing the time when the others shop would close, he'd double checked the time on google, when he sent Jett a tect message asking to meet up and giving a location. The other would need to mirror walk there, and he wasn't entierly sure how close a mirror was to the location, but he was certain the court had mirrors set up all about the city for it's memebers safety.
As the time ticked closer the general was seated on a tree stump. He'd picked an area outside the city, just at the edge of a forest, he knew the place had been rather...active only a few months ago. He'd heard whispers of trees attacking and grabbing people, all things which were normal for this city, but the forest was safe right now as far as he knew. He was hoping the rumors about the forest would keep people away, that way he could meet up with Remarque here in safety. Crossing one leg over the other, tilting his head, the blond eyed the burner phone he kept in subspace typically.
He had, in his other hand, a metal spike that he was planning to show Remarque as an opening to the conversation since he knew Aloysius and Liam had already spoken to the prince.

As planned, Remarque arrived right on time. He didn’t seem to be in any sort of hurry, but it would have been beneath him to let emotions get in the way. He hadn’t seen Benitoite for a while but he knew to expect him; Melpomene and Chalcanthite had indicated he’d be reaching out soon and he had.
Tonight was as good a night as any.
Stepping through the mirror, Remarque instinctively brushed himself off, either because he expected to be covered in shattered glass or because the wraiths were so adamant about clinging to him.
Thankfully, he had no trouble.
“General,” he greeted, raising a hand as he approached. “I hear you’ve been keeping busy lately. How are you holding up?”

"Busy, tired." Shrugging a bit as he answered. "I suppose it's to be expected though. I'm just glad I have someone at home to make sure I take the time I need for myself." Rene had been doing that, a lot, and the blond was more than pleased. Coming home at the end of the night, after wandering about the city, it was good to fall into someones arms and help him relax. "You've been doing well I hope?" He knew the other had a family, it really wasn't uncommon for people to settle down with others involved i nthe war, and he hoped they were doing well. That was something he didn't plan on, aside from Rene, he didn't want his own children. He was fine babysitting for other family members, especially now since he had his own home with guest rooms for any he might babysit.
Blinking he smiled at the other, Remarque was one of those he really did like, it was good to see him and so calm looking as well. "Call me Benitoite or even Beni, we've known each other for years." They knew each other a civilians, with him having bought many silver candle holders from the other, he didn't figure rank was needed here. "Has anyone reached out to you and your court about what's happening in the city?" Wanting to find out if he'd beaten Chalcanthite and Melpomenen or if they'd gotten to Remarque before he had. Moving to stand closer to the other, so he didn't need to rais ehis voice too much, he stood at the others side with his hands in his pockets. Casual and not at all worried, he couldn't sense any order around.

The corner of Remarque’s lip twitched into a bit of a smile. “Yeah, afraid Chalcanthite beat you to it. He said I’d probably be hearing from you soon. You reached out before I could do the same. So I’ll cut through all the formalities, I know you’re a busy man and so am I. You want to see what Mirrorspace is up to while you fill me in on things? It’s a bit finicky but you’ll be safe with me.”
He wouldn’t have offered if he didn’t think he could follow through on the promise, and it was probably safer than being out in Destiny City, anyway. “We’ve been getting some weird sightings. Mirrors are showing us strange things. Lot of weird dead things, honestly. I don’t know if it’s got anything to do with what you saw or what you were involved in, sometimes it’s just a little quirky. But maybe you can let me know if any of it’s familiar to you?”

"I'd love that, sounds like a good way to approach things." The walk and talk in a way, because that was a good way of getting two things done at once. "I wish I'd beaten Chalcanthite, but I'm not surprised he got to you before me. Considering he'd engaged to a dark mirror I'm surprised you didn't hear about things within two days of it happening." Maybe Remarque had infact heard within the first forty eight hours? Liam was good with talking and sharing information, he'd heard someinteresting things from Rene after all....things Liam had told him.
"That is likely true, Destiny City doesn't seem to be all that safe. I've heard of people being hit by lightening..." Which was scary, and normally deadly, it was by sheer luck and magic that the people were surviving though. If this was normal lightening than people would be dead.
"Considering how this city typically operates I'm going to guess what you're dealing with is a part of what I got pulled into. It's not quirky this time, I doubt it, the timing is too perfect. If anything is famiiliar though I'll mention it." And he would, of course, fill the other in on what he'd seen that night. Reaching for the others uniform, so he could get pulled into mirrorspace with him, he moved to follow the other.

Remarque was an expert when it came to Mirrorspace travel, so he hooked his arm around Benitoite’s to make sure they’d stay together when he stepped through the mirror. “In case you haven’t done this in a while, it’s going to feel a little cool at first, like stepping through some water. You’ll feel normal again when we make it to the other side. Try to stay still while we do this, the mirrors are breaking sometimes.”
To be extra careful, and because he was always prepared in Mirrorspace, just before he stepped into the mirror, he shifted to his Prince form. He raised his wings slightly to shield Benitoite, just in case.
Luck was on their side; when he stepped into Mirrorspace, there was the sound of cracking glass but nothing shattered. They stepped into a white room covered in mirrors of all sizes. There was only one hallway out, but Remarque didn’t seem in any rush to head down that way. There was plenty interesting here–including a giant mirror that took up nearly a whole wall. It was completely black, though it looked like something was moving in the darkness even if there weren’t any details to make out.
Remarque clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth as he released Benitoite. “Glad we don’t have to worry about lightning in here,” he mused, watching as two wraiths kept their distance and scampered excitedly down the hallway. They weren’t often around in Mirrorspace unless you went to the dark corners, but they’d been acting so excitable lately. Naturally, Remarque took note of them, but he saw no reason to pursue them.

It had been awhile, though he didn't say as much, he simply followed the others lead and kept to his side. It was indeed cool and it did feel like walking through water perhaps? It wasn't bad though it was odd, something he wasn't ever going to get used to, the wings behind him a welcome assurence for the smaller blond. Once they were through he nodded his head up at the other. "It has been awhile, but it isn't bad traveling this way. Different but teleporting fore you would be different as well." And no doubt it'd be a bit jarring even.
Looking the mirror over, stepping away from the other in order to do so, his head bobbed. "Indeed, that would be more than a little dangerous. There would be little chance of avoiding it. Not to mention the chances of breaking glass adding to the dangers.
"I am curious...do those wraiths have personalities or is there some way to tell them apart at all? Or are they all just copies of each other?" Just a curious question, I mean they weren't anything like youma who looked different, the fact they all looked the same didn't mean they were infact all the same. Was there something which created them? Like with youma having once been humans. Was there something that shocking behind the wraiths as well?

“Yeah, I’m not a fan of your teleportation,” Remarque answered. “It’s convenient, but I’ll take a mirror over that any day. No offense.”
He just liked his stomach where it was.
“The wraiths don’t seem to have much of a personality. They come and go as they please. I’ve seen a thousand of them and don’t know if I’ve ever seen the same one twice. Not really any reason to try and tell them apart. They come for energy, they leave. They’re not here to make friends.”
Which was good, because neither was he.
“Don’t pay them any mind. They look a bit unnerving if you look at them for too long, anyway. So, tell me–what’s the Negaverse thinking about all of this? The storms, the danger. Have you figured out a plan for how you want to deal with all this?”

"The first few times I wasn't a fan of my own teleporting either, useful as it was even then, it was draining and jarring." That was one thing he'd always wondered about answered, he'd just never decided it was proper to ask till now. It also seemed like something only a royal or eternal would know, as rank often meant time involved in things and experience.
"Personally I don't like the idea of letting it live, not when we only have one set of replacement spikes. If they ever fail again, somehow, the future is screwed. And as much as people may say these won't fail, as I'm sure some will, anything can fail under the right circumstances." And he didn't like leaving this mess to the future, for others to handle, it needed to be handled once and for all.
"I would hope we're taking that opinion as well, the Negaverse as a whole, as it would keep the planet safe from this particular beast forever. With other things out in space we might as well remove this threat so it's one less to deal with, for us or anyone else. I don't see us as trying to bind it unless it's to bind it so we can kill it. I don't know what order is planning...I would hope they'd realize that this serpent needs removal but I don't know." They argued too much amongst themselves and couldn't work together so well.
"What's you opinion on the matter? Do you think we should bind it and leave iot locked up again or kill it?" Wanting to get the others opinion, as he did value it. The other had been around long enough, seen and done enough, he was a prince even. The general would take into consideration whatever the other said, whatever argument for his posistion he had, because he trusted the other and respected him. They both had families even, though he wasn't playing father to his twins.
"You know...Acubens has children - twins...?" Maybe a random thing...maybe not. "She can't fight for their future so I'll be fighting in her place...for the future of my family which includes her twins, because while they will never know me as a parent they are mine biologically. They need to have a future - a secure one." He had every reason to see things to the end and wake up, in his bed, when all was said and done and they were all safe once more. The twins would never know him as their father, and that was more than fine by him, but he would still fight with their future in mind as well as that of his family.

Remarque nodded as he listened to Benitoite but he was more tight-lipped with his thoughts. There was just a lot to sift through and he didn’t want to do a disservice to himself or Benitoite by speaking rashly.
He raised a brow when Acubens was mentioned, though he decided not to comment on it much. It was always strange to think of how the children came to be, but Acubens was strange, anyway. He was glad she had a family, and glad that she was thinking of them. He wouldn’t judge her for prioritizing them over combat.
Strange to think of Benitoite fathering them, but Remarque didn’t dwell on the thought for long.
“Personally, practically speaking? I don’t think there’s any reason to let it live. A world eating monster, right? No, that’s just asking for trouble. If I was in a forest with a hungry tiger and I had a chance to take it out? Of course I would.” He had a family to protect, too. They deserved a future.
“What point is there in locking it up? So it can be miserable to the end of its days? So it can escape again? Let’s just get the job done. I’ll sleep better at night knowing it’s not out there.”
