It had been weeks since Ophelia’s mother had shown her the wondrous treasures that certain rocks held hidden within plain sight: Geodes, fossils of plants and animals, even mega old WATER! That you could drink!
She wanted - no needed - to find more treasures to collect and hoard. Seeing her mother crack open the rock before her and her brother and revealing the beauty of the array of purples and pinks that sparkled and shined in the sun of an amethyst geode set something alight within Oppie. It was all she ever thought about, dreamed about, heck even talked about much to the dismay of her mother and brother.
She would become Kawani’s expert in rock knowledge a…a…oh what did her mother call them again? Georgist? No. Googlist? No that wasn’t right. Oh! Geo…GEOLOGIST! She would be the best geologist that had ever been seen!
“Cause I wanna be the best there ever was, to find them is my real test, to crack them is my cause!” She hummed gleefully to herself as she puddered along the dirt path, her hooves prodding and kicking any rocks that came in her path to flip them to see if they had any of the tell-tale signs of wonders hidden sign.
THUNK!
Her hoof crashed on a seemingly unremarkable stone. To anyone else it would have been just a plain old bump in the road and an annoyance to step over. To her? There was potential magic held inside. It’s smooth texture, the round surface area, the heavy dull thump that echoed when her little hoof tapped on it.
We have a potential winner folks!
“Eeee finally! Found one!” She squealed loudly, her excitement and glee overriding her mother’s warnings to keep a quiet and low profile when out playing by herself.
Luckily, it would seem fate would be kind to her today. New friends were on the horizon!
