Julienne was meeting up with two of her favorite Senshi tonight, and of course, because she was Julienne, she had insisted that they bring the snacks, for they had the opposable thumbs…more often than she did, and because she liked snacks and getting to see her was always the cause for celebration, at least to her pretty little mind.
She had found them a delightful spot in a nearby park. It was in the cover of trees, the start of a pleasant trail that wound through the wooded area, and here was where she sat, perched on a bench, her long, fluffy tail swishing lazily as she waited for Jishui and Haik to appear.
She could feel them in the distance, or at least, she hoped that was them she felt…it could be two other Senshi for all she knew but…the fact that they were together and were moving towards her boded well.
Also…there was something…off about the feeling of these two…which. Was strange. It wasn’t bad, but right now her stomach was making far too much noise and was far too empty for her to think too hard on the issue? If it was even an issue at all.

Haik lifted the large, clearly overstuffed picnic basket up to eye level, peering curiously at it for a moment and wondering why they decided to fill it with as much food as they did. By his (very rough, and probably incredibly inaccurate) calculations, it would probably feed Julienne three times over.
He gave Jishui’s hand a little squeeze to get her attention.
“How long do you think it’ll take for her to finish all of it?” he asked, soon turning his eyes from the basket to his…uh. Jishui, who was walking right beside him.
Granted, he did have a slightly more serious question floating around in the back of his mind. Something about being asked to meet felt slightly concerning to him, though he couldn’t quite place why. Just that it felt out of the norm, or at least whatever normal was to him now. He’d been around for nearly a year now, and he’d seen nearly all four seasons the area had to offer! And naturally, over the course of that length of time, he had fallen into some kind of a normal rhythm.
Maybe…was that the problem?
Hopefully not.

Jishui chuckled and returned the squeeze. Holding Haik’s hand was…nice. It was firm and warm and made her feel…
Well. Protected was a good way to describe it. She didn’t need protecting but…it was nice to feel that way regardless. He helped her feel…normal. Which again, wasn’t the perfect description but…it fit for what it was.
“Knowing her…she’ll be more excited to simply have it but…also knowing her I think…she’s going to get too distracted to really pay much attention to us, so…it’s a blessing and a curse. I know she’s going to love the salmon dip that we found. You know that’s her favorite. Salmon.”
Jishui didn’t like it but…Julienne did. And seeing the Mauvian happy was a nice thing, so she tried to make sure it happened often.

"Hello you two!" Julienne leapt off the bench the moment she knew that it was here two Senshi and padded over to them both, winding herself around two sets of ankles and purring.
"I've missed you. We should meet up more often! How have you both been? Are things going all right? You've been taking good care of one another, I see." They were holding hands...and honestly, that was cute!
Still. The strange feeling was persisting and she drew back, sitting up and looking between the two. "...Has anything strange been happening with you? I feel like...something's...off."
And she knew if she just thought about it a little, she'd be able to figure it out, but right now, she couldn't put her paw on what it was.

He couldn’t help the amusement in his face, or the chuckle that rumbled out of him as Jishui described the Mauvian’s likely reactions. He could imagine the look on her face before she disappeared into the basket of goodies and quite possibly forgot that she had company while she indulged her love of food. Which wasn’t a bad thing in his mind, and in fact he found it a comforting thought to know that he could once again contribute to making anyone happy at all.
“I can’t say I blame her for that. Salmon is good.”
And soon enough the Mauvian in question was greeting them, and he waved their joined hands as she approached, stopping as she wove herself around their ankles.
“Hi, Jules,” he replied with a wide grin. “I agree on that one. We should meet up more. You’d get more of these type baskets, y’know.” Again, he waved it as if to tease her.
“Things have been,” he glanced over to Jishui, his smile softening some, “good, I think. I’ve settled in,” maybe too settled in, but he didn’t think that that was a bad thing. For the thousand and some years he’d been alone on his planet, he could afford a few months of just relaxing. “Mostly. There’s still lots to learn, but I don’t feel rushed at all. And no, nothing strange. Not for me, at least?”
Again, he glanced toward Jishui to see if maybe she had any idea what Julienne might have been sensing.

Jishui smiled and leaned down, petting Julienne’s fur gently with her free hand. “I don’t think anything strange has been going on with me, either, but we’re very happy to see you. You are always a joy, Julienne. Don’t listen to him, I understand that you have other Senshi to watch over…but…we do miss you, so please do come see us more often…we’ve brought some good treats for you.”
She hesitated for a moment, and then gently extricated her hand from Haik’s, feeling…well. Her hand felt cold without the contact with his but…they could fix that after Julienne was fed.
“Are you wanting to talk first, or should we feed you first and then chat?”

"Hmmm..." Julienne leaned into the pets and gave a soft, happy sigh. "I do like food. I think we should do food first, and talk while we're eating, that way we get everything all at once."
She could smell the food, and it all smelled...wonderful. "I'm glad that you're both doing well...I..."
Oh! Oh now she knew what felt so strange. They were special cases...but what she felt was power...they were both ready to get stronger...and she was absolutely ready to help them both. "...Before we eat...could I please see your henshin pens for a few minutes? I have a theory that I would like to test, if you don't mind!"
She hoped they wouldn't mind. This was the one thing she would hold off on food to do! This was important, and this was...honestly wonderful.

Haik’s smile was steady as he watched the affectionate little exchange between the two, nodding along in agreement when Jishui mentioned that they missed her. Because he genuinely did! Even if he was teasing her a little bit with the basket of food. So when Julienne indicated she wanted the food first, he was happy to get started on that.
He was maybe a little less happy about having to let go of Jishui’s hand to get the picnic set up and all, but…it was easy enough to fix later.
The senshi had just set the basket down when Julienne suddenly asked for his pen. Admittedly, it gave him pause, but up to this point neither she nor Jishui had ever given him reason to doubt them, so…he handed it over, ever so slightly hesitant as he set it in front of the Mauvian.
“Something wrong with them?” he asked, crouched down in front of her, concern written all over his face.
