Quote: Backdated to the evening of the 25th of Feb There was a lot to manage, reports he had hand written in his journal or had formatted in his mind over the meetings he'd had over the last seventy-two hours. There were just as many questions as there were answers and his hand still hurt from that shattering glass. His usually preen and collected veneer was worn thin, even after his fiance had managed to get him to rest the night before, into this morning. Thin strands of grey out of place here and there around his bangs moved as he rubbed at his temples to sort through things. He hadn't gotten the chance to pluck them yet and honestly, he hadn't gotten the chance to look in the mirror to make sure he was presentable. He wasn't much different than usual but he knew he was tired, and more and more he wished he could rest, but the risks were too great,t and he kept working because he could sleep some more once things were sorted and an avenue forward was figured out. Keeping the bandage on was a lost cause as Voce pecked at the loose end of it until they were able to steal it to help wrap some of their crystals to their perch. The bird-like youma eyed him, keeping quiet for now as it watched them scritch at the paper a bit more between typing things into the database. Chalcanthite's desk was organized chaos at the moment, his crystals put away but small slivers of the work he'd been doing before were scattered underneath the books and papers he'd acquired to try looking into the things he'd gathered about the coming threat. A report would be going out to his team soon, especially to those he had just gotten promotions for in order to reward their work as well as to give them the tools to better investigate things while being able to protect themselves in case of a less than pleasant order member taking offense to their existences. With a sigh, he straightened up and stretched, grimacing over his ribs still hurting from a few days back now. Ice had helped but he still felt it when he breathed or pushed too hard. He wouldn't admit that Liam was right and he needed to rest, but he certainly felt the need for it.

There was rarely an occasion when Rakovanite would elect to spend additional time in Negaspace unprompted. He was already in an office for the entirety of his civilian workday, and he'd found the views were not so stunning as to be coveted when off the clock... But given the Situation that he still did not have a complete understanding of, Rakovanite decided to make time for Negaspace and the people he could find there.
He wouldn't have considered the storms strange or worrisome, usually. Destiny City was full of oddities, and he was still only a human man; he didn't have the energy to fret over every bizarre thing the city hosted. And he trusted Laurelite's message: there was no reason for alarm.
It struck him as strange, though, that Narcissus would encounter anything worth observing in Mirror space. The message had said the White Moon had some information- nothing regarding the Mirror Court, but something was influencing Mirrorspace as well.
So this was't the usual small, localized Destiny City occurrence.
He would just see what exactly someone more involved knew. Rakovanite was not on familiar terms with anyone who had been transported to the strange place written in the database entries regarding the storms. And frankly, there was very little to go on when seeking someone who would know more than he did. So his parameters for selecting who to question were essentially only: 'a name he recognized' and 'probably less busy than a General Sovereign.' Chalcanthite was good enough- strictly because the tablet profile listed him as 'online.' And that was as good a reason as any.
Rakovanite found his way to the other General's office. He gave a short rap on the door and what he thought was a very polite four-second pause before he tried the handle and let himself in.
He must have seen the man inside before. Chalcanthite was active enough that they had surely gone on at least one or two large assignments together, but Rakovanite must be misremembering, because the man in front of him did not look familiar, and instead seemed like a weirdly frazzled caricature of who Rakovanite had actually been expecting. His head canted, observing the General behind the desk.
"I had hoped you might be free to speak for a few minutes, but are you well enough?" The question was not posed with the sort of solemnity one might expect of concern, but actually came more from curiosity. Was Chalcanthite... running himself ragged? Over this of all things?

With the rap on the door, Chalcanthite straightened up just enough, but apparently not enough as the general across from him seemed to doubt he was alright. Waving off the concern, he motioned for the other to sit. "Yes, while I may be in the middle of a large batch of reports, I have time to talk." They weren't someone he recognized at first glance, but then again he'd kept very much to himself outside of missions. Working to neatly stack the scattered papers, he had a majority of them settled back in place before returning his attention to the other General. He did notice Voce was noticeably on their best behaviour, something he figured was due to the other not being a senshi or lieutenant. At least there was that. "What brings you to my office? Are you interested in my research?" Settling back in his seat, he rubbed at his hand lightly for a moment before adjusting the cuff of his uniform to cover things a bit more. He'd have to get Liam to rebandage it when he got home, but that wasn't going to be for a little while.

Rakovanite sat when prompted, flicking the end of his cape out over the side of the chair and settling straight-backed and stiff, gaze intent and curious on the other General. Chalcanthite had brushed off the question of his well-being and not insisted that Rakovanite come back another time, so he needed little more assurance than that and didn't press if he was 'certain' pr if he should set an appointment for later. If Chalcanthite wasn't fine, he would've said. Probably.
Although it did strike him as strange to hear 'research' as the reason someone would seek him in his office. Given how recent the storms were, Rakovanite expected by default that he was speaking of something else: 'research' made it seem like something he'd been delving into for months and months or longer. In the way that same agents studied the Rift or crystals or youma-
Which Rakovanite was not interested in, if that was this man's area of expertise.
"I am not sure what your research entails," Rakovanite admitted. "I saw your name on a report regarding the lightning storm in the city recently..." And admittedly, he wasn't sure what specifically he was hoping to get out of this meeting. Surely anyone with anything to say would've already noted it in a report, but... It still didn't feel like very much to go on, and he didn't know almost anything about it to begin with. "I apologize. I am not exactly sure what I want. There was what I believe to be a related occurrence in Mirrorspace, and I think-" His brows furrowed in focus. "-I think I am concerned?"
He did not feel compelled to go into detail about why anything in Mirrorspace might concern him specifically. "It is just that the storms seem more widespread than Laurelite's message made them sound. Can you tell me anything you've learned specifically?"

While he wouldn't say he was disappointed in the lack of interest in something he would rather be distracted with at the moment, he did focus on them more as they brought up mirrorspace. It had been his first priority after all, especially considering the video he'd seen from his fiancé right before heading into his meeting with Laurelite. Considering not every agent or senshi treated the mirror court well, he had been a bit guarded about his own connections with it. So for a moment he simply nodded before exhaling tiredly. He remembered seeing a report mentioning his experience with the energy pulled up in space, something he was a bit surprised over when it had been determined to be similar to that of a supernova. "Yes, I witnessed some things firsthand. My conclusions regarding oddities and threats in that area are still solidifying as I wait for more information from connected parties though." It was frustrating but he couldn't help it, pressuring Remarque for information they might not even have wasn't something he'd do. Not if he wanted to keep the relatively decent opinion they had of him intact. Fiddling with one of the pages of notes he'd had on the desk, he looked over the sketch he'd done of what he'd witnessed on the few planets he'd been to so far. Some were done on the scene while others were done shortly after, a product of the fact that the storms had been more intense in some places than in others. "As for the spread of things, it reaches farther than just this planet. Storms are effecting some of those senshi worlds and with the current focus on gathering information I have taken the opportunity to see what I can gather up from some of the less volatile knights or senshi. However, who says they are being transparent? But if it is connected, then the fact space can be seen within the mirrors may be of interest." Hinting at what he'd seen but not just yet clarifying, he still wasn't sure if it had been worth noting that he'd seen Neptune. While he did need more information, he wasn't about to tempt fate and get another face full of glass because a mirror took offense to his interactions with it.
