By Hades it was chaos and mayhem, anarchy, she would not stand for this! Pagona huffed and stomped her little hooves on the stone path leading to a temple for Hera's followers. The priestesses had just worked hard to tend to the pomegranate seedlings and plant beautiful flowers along the sides of path to the temple. It wasn't quite warm enough for the flowers to flourish and bloom so they may not have looked like much yet but they were precious to her dear Hera. Well, they were. Someone had clearly trampled over them.

Her mind was made up, she was going on a quest to find the culprit so the little Mikroi said goodbye to her friends at the temple (not that the poor priestesses understood a word she said) and she was off.

How would she find the fugitives? Hmmm... ah, that's right, the hounds knew how to find things best you just stick your nose to the ground like so... She was hunched over sniffing the pathways like a dog, which, she'd never admit was incredibly ineffective at finding well, anything.

And so her adventure began, taking her away from her home to the open fields and merchant trails where there were so many different sights and smells that she'd likely never find a thing. But good luck telling this stubborn little Mikroi that.

Yaro and Vihaan were on their way to Hera's temple to leave an offering. Yaro's father taught her everything there was about raising your own clouds and she was so excited. The excitement caused her to talk, and talk, and talk and talk, more than usual, and Yaro wasn't a very quiet individual...

"Dad told me a story once of when I was a foal... I was a handful, can you believe that? I guess I always wanted to protect the world and went off causing trouble. This one time I was with Mom and Dad in the farming district near Epirus and I disappeared! Dad found me getting into a headbutting competition with one of the farmer's goats!" she laughed, "Apparently the goat had been ornery and I wanted to show it a lesson, because we all have to help the humans y'know? Dad and Mom were mad though, they said I'll get lost, stay close, don't wander off." With a wistful sigh she exclaimed, "I hope our foals turn out to be a handful. Imagine the stories we can tell them when they grow up?"

And as if she was trying to prove her Dad's concerns had taught her nothing in life, something caught her eye and with a hasty "Hey, what's that?" she took a running leap and began to soar off into the distance toward something tiny and red in the middle of a barren field.

The little red Mikroi stood in the middle of a barren field. It looked like it had long lost its fertility and was now filled with many rocks, sticks and weeds. Not much to look at to be sure but here in the center was a patch of small flowers, many of them still green buds but one, a single flower, had happened to bloom. It was small with five white petals that came to a point, and had a creamy yellow center. It was something you wouldn't be able to see from the road, as the lush weeds and overgrowth were much denser than this little patch in the earth yet the little Mikroi's nose led her right here. Was it a sign? Was Hera trying to tell her something?

A shadow passes over Pagona's head and she looked up just as a Pegasus began to make their descent.

The culprit! Hera had led her straight to the criminal. Of course, her goddess would know exactly who had done it, why hadn't she thought of asking her from the start?

Vihaan chuckled at Yaro's stories, amused at her antics and relieved to listen to her chatter. He was the quieter of the two, by far, but he found her voice soothing as the thrill (equal parts excitement and terror) of potentially raising clouds of their own settled down into his bones. He hadn't been raised, not like Yaro had, and he worried that he wouldn't know what to do besides love them. He was very good at loving Yaro, at least.

He opened his mouth, only for Yaro's question to trample his thoughts, as he turned his head to see a spot of red off in the distance.

"It—" the words died as she took the air and he laughed, shaking his head, "Or you could do that and see for yourself." The only flaw of loving a pegasus, he supposed, was that he was always chasing after her. With snort of amusement, he broke into a run and charged after his lady towards the flash of red.

As the Pegasus soared through the clouds she was able to get a better idea of what lie waiting in the middle of the field. A mikroi! She'd heard of these tiny Hoi but hadn't gotten the chance to interact with one before. What were they doing way out here all by themselves?

Yaro gracefully landed in front of the little Mikroi, her hooves barely making a sound as they shifted onto the earth beneath her. If her parents had taught her one thing that stuck, it was her flying lessons, having two Pegasus parents made her as graceful as a swan when it came to the sky. Nestling her wings against her back to seem less intimidating she took in her surroundings but her eyes quickly grew wide. The little red hoi was bristling and sizing her up. Wait, what was going on here?

"Hi, I'm Yar-" she raised a hoof to step forward and the look on the Mikroi's face, shock, pure horror, caused her to freeze. Looking down she realized she was about to crush a tiny little flower so she quickly retracted her hoof with a soft "Oops"

A Pegasus comes out of nowhere, nearly lands on her head and almost crushes the beautiful flower she found. The culprit. Except the look of embarrassment on the pretty Pegasus' face, gives her pause. Would the culprit be ashamed if they'd already trampled the gardens? No, perhaps not. Pagona deflates and sighs, back to square one. Something told her this wasn't the flower crusher at all.

"Hera, oh divine one", she whispered, "What are you trying to tell me?"

She thought the Pegasus had introduced herself but couldn't remember, she'd been too horrified to recall any conversation. But still, her curiosity was peaked, why did this random Pegasus show up in this same field just completely out of nowhere? Divine intervention! She must know the culprit!

"Did you see the culprit? Which way did they go?!" the little Mikroi exclaimed, back on her wild goose chase.

The thud of his hooves against the terrain struck up a cloud of dirt to announce his arrival. He'd started off at a leisurely pace, until a tinge of anxiety at the distance between them, forced him into a canter. It wasn't that Yaro couldn't take care of herself, but he didn't want to tempt the Fates. Not when they were on their way to Hera's temple. Not when they'd made a commitment to one another. Not when the idea of Yaro being quiet seized his heart into panic.

Vihaan thundered up to the pair, stopping with a skid of hooves against the dirt. He stood with his face between them, turning to nudge Yaro's nose with his own in question.

"Are you all right?" he asked, gaze flicking between his love and the mikroi. The posture between them was alarming and his ignorance of the flower between the three of them . . . (He was lucky he hadn't trampled it.)

"Is something wrong?" he turned his attention to the mikroi, eyes concerned and body tense. He wasn't much of a warrior, but if he had to . . . Even if it was a mikroi . . .

Yaro jumped into her battle posture (making sure to back up so she didn't crush the flower), a culprit, it must be a monster from the Titans! Her father had trained her for this moment, she was ready! It's a shame she left her armor at home, it was heavy and she didn't really like hauling it around when she didn't need to. No matter, she'd just have to be faster, smarter!

"A monster?! Where?! Let's get it!" she exclaimed with glee.

And then Vihaan arrived, whoops, she'd left him behind! She smiled a bit sheepishly when he stepped up, having grown up in a family of Pegasus she tended to forget not everyone could fly. Hearing Vihaan seemingly distressed and inquiring about her only twisted the knife further. She'd run off and worried him, that was unforgivable.

"I'm okay Vihaan, I'm sorry for running off... but there's a monster! We're going to go find it!" she apologized sorrowfully and then seemed to snap back into her over-exuberant self, "Oh but wait, we were headed to Hera's temple! But this lady needs help! Monsters!" she seemed torn and unable to decide between her love, her family and protecting the world. Nope nevermind, protecting the world always came first with this one. It probably stemmed from too many stories of heroes and battles from when she was a foal.

Now the little Mikroi was just confused, this Pegasus was... a lot. And now there was a Hippoi too? Monsters? Wait, Hera's temple? Giving her head a little shake she tried to process, everything.

"Monsters? There's no monsters in Olympia... oh you mean the one who ruined the garden! Yes, they are a terrible monster," exclaimed Pagona, her temper exploding again, "Have you seen them? What do they look like?"

Wait, hold up, hadn't they mentioned Hera? Her temple? What did they want with her home, her priestesses? They wouldn't tell her if they were up to no good would they?

"Did you mention Hera?" she finally asked, "I just came from her temple." Wait, was she supposed to admit that? What if they were miscreants! Oh bother, this sleuthing thing just wasn't for her.

He blinked, sucking in a breath through his teeth, as the two spoke of—"Don't fret, love," Vihaan started, pressing his nose against the pegasus's cheek. If there were monsters, then surely that took precedent, except the mikroi said there were no monsters . . . He pulled back and huffed a breath, then turned towards the mikroi.

"How about we start with some introductions?" It was the best place to start, since it seemed there must be a misunderstanding somewhere in all of this.

"I am Vihaan and this is my lifemate, Yaro. We were on our way to the temple of Hera as we wish to welcome some clouds of our own into the world," he smiled.

But if something had happened to the temple of Hera . . . Would that impede their desires? It surely complicated things.

"Is there trouble at Hera's temple?" he started and then stopped, "Forgive me, we were introducing ourselves, Miss . . .?"

He shouldn't get ahead of himself and yet the thought of Yaro's disappointment should they not be able to visit Hera's temple . . . His own disappointment could wait, should the need arise, but he did not like the thought of his mate feeling any sort of sadness. Even if he knew he couldn't shield her from it forever. Or really at all. He would do all he could to try.

Fretting? She wasn't fretting, she wanted to take on monsters, save the world and become a hero just like her Dad! But... she was easily distracted and Vihaan's touch had her off on a giddy happy little moment where she nuzzled him and nickered to him softly.

That's right, Hera's temple, they were on their way to ask for her blessing! Though Yaro generally looked to Athena for her wisdom and heroics she thought Hera was quite wonderful as well because nothing meant more to her than her family, especially Dad, and of course now Vihaan as well.

Finally letting Vihaan do some of the talking Yaro was content to stare at him and then nod in ready agreement. Yup, yup, they were gonna have clouds! Their very own bundles of mischief and mayhem. She couldn't wait. Would they have boys or girls? Would they have Vihaan's cute little spots? Ah, motherhood was such an exciting prospect!

Introductions, right! In typical Mikroi fashion Pagona's stubborn little self had bulldozed her way into this situation. "I'm Pagona! Devout follower of Hera, I help the priestesses at the temple" she exclaimed, puffing out her little chest.

His next sentence gave her pause, they were going to Hera's temple to ask for her blessing? Oh golly gosh! This was her true calling, Hera followers were able to assist their goddess with helping new families, and she was ready. She'd never actually done the ceremony before but she knew in her heart how it was performed and was excited to finally be of use to her goddess.

Pagona often helped the priestesses around the temple, hauling their things, fetching goods from merchants, helping to dig the gardens but for some reason the little Hoi still felt she didn't do enough and had to prove her devotion to her beloved Hera. Hence the need to find the culprit and prove herself worthy. But perhaps she was meant to help Hera in other ways...

"A new family?! Oh please, let me speak to Hera for you! I know the ceremony, we can do it right here!" she stomped her little hooves in excitement, this was what Hera brought her here for.

A shot of thrill coursed through him, this mikroi was one of Hera's followers? How fortunate! It must be a sign that he and Yaro were on the right path; it soothed the worry that he knew not how to be a parent, even if it might only be coincidence. Surely, it meant that even if it wasn't this moment, that clouds would come to them at some point. A fear he had not dared to voice, that perhaps he would be found lacking; not Yaro, never her. She was vibrant and brave and kind. Perfection, truly.

"Pagona, that would be wonderful, wouldn't it, dearest?" he grinned as he turned to look at his beloved.

Granted that did not explain the monsters . . . And there was no doubt that he was glad that there were no monsters, or must not be if now all talk of them had disappeared. He was doubly glad that he did not have to fight the mikroi, although he was sure Yaro would have forgiven him for being kicked to the ground. She was the warrior, he was a diplomat. Although it gave rise, he might need to learn to fight to protect their young . . . A thought for another time.

"We are indebted to you, Miss Pagona. Tell us what to do."

"Oh yes, we'd love that! We're hoping for a huge family full of trouble makers," exclaimed the Pegasus mare happily.

Trouble makers? Pagona was sure most families didn't wish for that... this Pegasus was curious indeed. But, no matter! Families, true love, this was what she'd been training for!

So they needed an offering... what to offer... THE FLOWER OH NO! The little Mikroi frantically searched the ground, phew, the flower was still safe. One thing Pagona had learned from her time with the priestesses was that offerings weren't always what one expected, picking a flower to wilt on Hera's shrine wasn't necessary. Her benevolent, wondrous goddess also appreciated the beauty of the human realm and took great pleasure in all sorts of plants and flowers the priestesses tended to for her. Sometimes it was best to leave beauty alone and let it flourish where the goddess could check in from time to time.

"Okay so just now your heads a little," she said as she nudged the other Hoi into positions around the flower, "And think of your love for one another, and your future children. Let Hera feel what you feel, the joy of parenthood."

"O Divine Goddess Hera, on this day we gift you with this small flower. Against all odds it has persevered and found life, blooming in the light of dawn on this barren, infertile field. We hope sharing this offering with you will bless this dear couple with a large, loving family and that you will watch over them and their children as they learn, play and grow," the little Hoi said, strongly, her voice even and calm while she bowed her head thoughtfully in respect to the goddess.

Yaro also bowed her head, thinking of her and Vihaan chasing after countless foals all causing chaos and mayhem around her. One was chasing after some chickens, feathers flying everywhere. Another was learning to fly, but wobbling and heading straight for a large tree. Ah, her family was going to be perfect.

Vihaan breathed in deeply and then bowed his head, eyes taking in the flower before closing in prayer.

He thought of Yaro. She was beautiful, to be sure, but it was her bravery and her kindness that fed the flame. She was curious as she had shown when spying this mikroi and, what blessed luck, to find the one who could help them. She inspired goodness in others and he saw her with their children teaching them to stand tall and fight for their beliefs. Even if they all had wings, like Yaro, he would still watch them fly high.

He thought of himself. He had far less to offer, but he was devoted. He would ensure that Yaro forever remained joyful and that their children would thrive. He would let them learn and try, to make mistakes and teach them how to fix things. To love and to be loved. It was the greatest gift one to give to another when hurt and sadness blotted out the sun.

He thought of their clouds. One, three, ten, fifty. It didn't matter. He would love them all. A chuckle bloomed in his throat at the idea of them walking their first steps and stumbling. Of meeting new creatures and taking tumbles in fright or bouncing into messes that they should not have. He saw them covered in mud and being forced into taking baths. And with each thought, his love only grew.

"Bless you, Hera, for listening to our prayer. And bless you, Pagona, for giving our prayer to your goddess."

Pagona felt a warmth wash over her, a feeling of pride, like she'd finally done something right. Was this what it felt like to have Hera's appreciation? Had she finally made her goddess proud? She'd have to go tell the priestesses! They always looked most bewildered when she shared with them, but they'd always give her scritches and comb their fingers through her mane so she knew they appreciated her stories.

Oh no, what about the morning merchant run! How would they get their supplies without her?

"Oh no, oh no. I have to head back!" the little Mikroi started in a panic, "I wish you the best of luck with your new family! I'll keep you in my thoughts."

And with that the little red Hoi was dashing out of the field at a full gallop. Her "monster" long forgotten, now the only thing on her mind was helping out at the temple. Pagona was a rather stubborn Mikroi, like many were, but she was incredibly kind and always wanted to be of assistance. It was how she figured she earned her place in the world, because she wasn't a fighter, and if there really were monsters well... she wouldn't be first in line for slaying them.

Yaro was elated, she too had felt that brief sensation of an overwhelming sense of love and nurturing. She somehow knew that Hera had heard their pleas and was pleased with their offering. Gods sure worked in mysteriou-... oh Pagona was running off and she hadn't even gotten a chance to thank her or say goodbye. Luckily Vihaan was the thinker of the pair, he was the brains, she was the brawn, a perfect match.

"Vihaan! Vihaan! We have to go tell Dad!" she exclaimed, once again springing into action, "I wonder if he and mom have ever met Hera? Let's go get more parenting tips!"

She didn't really wait for an answer, Yaro was a lady of action and when her mind was made up it was difficult to dissuade it. Oh course she still looked back to make sure Vihaan was following, she'd already left him behind once today and still felt the guilt on her conscience.

It was back to traveling then, this time to see dear old dad. And poor Vihaan, as she'd already started talking about how troublesome their foals were going to be and once she started... well good luck stopping her.
