Sailor Tempesti anxiously checked her phone’s clock for the thousandth time, as though it might magically change to reveal that she was in fact late for meeting up for her sparring session with Sailor Aruna. She had never sparred with anyone in her life and despite the increase in her strength since she began training in earnest to swim to that island, the senshi was nervous. As Tempesti waited she idly ran her fingers along the braid she’d pinned around the crown of her head. Though she didn’t think that Aruna would be the sort to resort to hair pulling, she wanted to get into the habit of keeping her hair restrained in combat for when she encountered someone who had no such reservations. Bouncing on her heels she took a few deep breaths, it couldn’t hurt to do a few stretches before they began.

Aruna was late and she knew it. Her phone hadn't been plugged in properly and it died before her alarm went off, and it was too dead to reach out via text with. So she found herself sprinting across rooftops, jumping down and landing shockingly gracefully for the usually clumsy girl. She gave her friend an out of breath smile as she brushed her fuku off. "I'm so so so sorry. I took a nap and my phone died so my alarm never went off." She fidgeted with the sheer fabric of the shimmery bow that trailed behind her, feeling anxious. She hated being late, hated making people wait on her, hated being a burden in any way shape or form. "I hope I'm not massively late and din't make you wait too long?"

Tempesti was finishing her stretches as Aruna arrived and flashed her friend a quick smile, “No need to apologize, just getting in a bit of stretching before we get started. I’d suggest that you do the same but it looks like you’ve already warmed up.” The senshi swung her arms anxiously as she stood there, she knew that they wouldn’t intentionally hurt each other, hopefully the harpies would behave themselves.

Aruna laughed softly and nodded, glad that Tempesti wasn't upset at her lateness. "So how do you want to do this? I.... haven't ever practiced with others before." Though admittedly she should have. Learning her powers and getting a feel for them, especially with her newfound higher magic, would likely be incredibly smart of her. "I.... really don't want to hurt you. And I know my powers can pack a punch." Worst case, she knew that she could likely call upon Kerberos to patch them up if either got hurt too terribly badly. Though ideally, she would really like to not have to do that. She felt she bothered him far too much already, both in and out of work.

Tempesti thought for a few long moments, she had no idea how they should go about this. She knew what sparring was in theory, but in practice she was utterly clueless on how to begin. She wondered if they should have asked people more experienced in this area for ideas. In hindsight she saw that some kind of padding would probably have been a good idea. Maybe next time. For now, she had the first aid kit that lived in her subspace. “I have no idea, I’ve…never tried sparring before, and my only fight with another human consisted mostly of trying not to let an insane whale person kill me. Besides, I need to learn to take a hit.” She made a face at the memory before calling her first aid kit into her hands. “This is always in my subspace, I don’t think we’ll be doing anything that will end in anyone needing surgery. I mean, hopefully. So this should be good I think.”

Aruna chewed the inside of her cheek. "I just don't want to hurt you is all. Power difference can mean a lot." She looked around, trying to measure the expanse of her attack. "In theory, I could try and make sure I only hit you with just the edge of it? I think I've got a pretty decent grasp on what my range is, at least for my more basic attack." Because in truth, she tried to reserve her powered up attack for emergencies, should she need it later, and had yet to have the chance to really work with it as much. "I could also possibly call someone if either of us get hurt beyond more than what a med kit can fix. I know a senshi or two with healing magic." She gestured at her left arm, the scar peeking out between the top of her glove and the shoulder of her fuku. "This would have been a lot worse, I think, if I hadn't had them heal it."Taking a few steps back, Aruna once again surveyed the area before nodding. "If you want me to try it that way, I think if you stay right where you're at, you should be fine. The edge will clip you, but the worst of it should slide past you, I think."

“I know, and I’m glad you want to look out for me. But I think I need to get used to fighting fighting. With humans, not just smacking youma. She sighed, “I don’t even like fighting youma.”It was difficult to admit that it wasn’t fear that made her dislike fighting those strange creatures. A lot of her felt bad for ending them, after all it’s not like they could help what they were. Still, their nature made them run around trying to eat people and their souls. She couldn’t live with letting that happen, even if they were just following their own nature. It was only knowing that the alternative was worse that allowed her to push through those feelings. “I’ve got a good grip on the range, I think. Just not so much on the control.” Her face probably betrayed her frustration at the confession, that she couldn’t help it only made the situation more aggravating. “I’ve got my first aid kit in my subspace too, but I can’t imagine that’s as good as healing magic.”She planted her feet firmly where she stood, bracing herself. “Alright, I’m ready.

"I don't like fighting them all that much either. I feel bad for them. It's not that they're setting out to do evil, I think. More so that it's their nature? Like a hungry tiger or something." While she didn't know all that much about youma, she did feel bad for them. Taking a deep breath, Aruna gave Tempesti a small apologetic smile. "Sorry in advance. This isn't going to be fun. Rocky Sweep!" Her heeled boot came down hard on the ground and the terrain began to shift, magical debris coursing towards her friend. She winced as she watched, feeling bad for the damage it would cause. Quote: Base Attack: Rocky Sweep!Aruna stomps her foot and the ground beneath her targets becomes unsteady, as if it were eroding and they were trying to balance on sand. For the duration of her magic, targets will be pelted by a small, ethereal stream of baseball size rocks and debris sweeping towards them. The magical landslide can cause the sensation of mild bruises or scratches and targets will feel unsteady and have difficulties finding their footing. This attack has a distance of 15 feet in a cone in front of her and can be used three times per transformation. Terrain change lasts 30 seconds. The effects of the magic will fade when the magic ends, but players can choose to take lasting or more severe damage.

She planted her feet firmly where she stood, bracing herself. “Alright, I’m ready.“Yeah, it doesn’t seem like they exactly deserve to get hurt. If they would just leave people alone I wouldn’t even go after them. But if they got someone who couldn’t fight them off and I could have stopped it…I don’t know how I could deal with that.” Squaring her shoulders, she prepared herself as best she could. A soft hiss passed through Tempesti’s gritted teeth as the debris battered her. Aruna was right, of course. As fun experiences went, being bombarded with rocks had to be pretty far down the list. With the earthen cascade’s continued showering down upon the arms she’d thrown up to shield her head from the worst of it an idea prickled at the back of her mind. She suspected that it wouldn’t make much of a difference, but it couldn’t hurt to test it. “Bitter Blast!” The harpies arrived on cue, bringing with them their wind and lightning. Experimenting with magical interactions? That could be an interesting approach.

"Sorry!!!!! Are you alright?" Aruna winced as Tempesti still got hit with the attack. She watched, then, as her friend used her magic against her rocks, eyes widening as it made the rocks shift slightly. "Good shot!" She smiled brightly, nodding at the rocks. Sighing softly, she shook her head as she thought about the Youma. "I mean, we're their food source, from what I understand. You wouldn't begrudge a bear going after a fish, right? That's probably how they see us. I could ask Muri though, or Kerberos. They would know more about it than me." Especially given Muri's connection to Faustite, she figured. "Need another minute or do you want to go again?"

It worked? It worked! Not to any massive degree, but knowing that their magic could produce different effects on each other was an interesting development, definitely something she would want to explore later. “I’m alright, nothing I can’t ice when I get home! Tempesti chewed on her lip thoughtfully, “I wouldn’t try to stop a bear from eating a fish, but I would try to stop it from eating a human. I don’t think a bear would be any more likely to listen to me than a youma would though. I mean. We should learn more about them if we’re going to have to fight them.” The thought did nothing to lift her spirits. Human or not, youma did show some kind of intelligence, hints of a mind. It wasn’t like they were willing to stop and have a conversation with her though, unfortunately. “I’m ready,” She thought for a moment, “Want to see how that works in reverse?”

Aruna gave Tempesti a grin and nodded. "I don't really know why magic can interact sometimes but can't other times. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but it's interesting for sure."The idea of Tempesti scolding a bear came to mind and she couldn't help but laugh. "We might not be able to control them, but I think some Negaverse agents can? I don't know anything much about it though. I'll add it to the list of things to ask the boys." Because in all honesty, she kept a running, ever growing list to bring to her coworkers. The idea of trying the attacks again made her pause, taking a moment to think it over before nodding. "Sure. But I'll hit it with my stronger attack if that's good? Just wanna see if it makes a difference."Moving so Tempesti wouldn't get hit, Aruna waited until her friend attacked before launching her own attack to see if it would change anything. Quote: Super Attack: Raging Slide!Aruna stomps her foot and the ground beneath her targets becomes slick with wet, tightly packed dirt. An ethereal landslide mixed with debris, twigs, and rocks sweeps towards targets, causing the sensation of moderate bruises or scratches and very tricky footing. This attack has a distance of 15 feet and has two uses per transformation. Terrain change lasts 20 seconds. The effects of the magic will fade when the magic ends, but players can choose to take lasting or more severe damage.

“True, I really wonder how all of that works.” Tempesti made a mental note to record whatever she saw on the subject, wishing that there was information of the sort available through her phone. “Bitter Blast!” The senshi scurried out of the way as best she could to avoid the worst of her own ability before Aruna’s could make contact. It was impossible to tell if the windstorm was doing anything to slow the landslide. It didn’t much look like it, but there was a lot of debris in this one. It was an impressive display, if nothing else. “That was so cool! Glad it didn’t hit me.

Watching with wide eyes, Aruna felt amazed by both of their power. ".....remind me to never get hit with your magic please. That looks seriously unpleasant."She laughed softly and sidestepped some debris as she walked over to her friend. "What do you think? Want to call it good for now? We can always do this again later when we've rested up. And maybe have someone who can heal alongside us."

“I wouldn’t recommend it, honestly.” Tempesti smiled slightly, the memory of lightning sparking against her skin unpleasantly fresh. Still, she couldn’t help but find it a little bit funny that her starseed remained uncooperative. “The harpies are very enthusiastic for being not quite real.”It was a bit of a relief to call it a day, she’d only expended three bursts of magic once before and the aftereffects were less than enjoyable. “Sure! Thanks for this, by the way. It’s definitely been a learning experience.”
