◊ PROTECTIVE Shazzi as the oldest of the Rowntree children has always felt responsible for the brood and as such appointed herself as not only their guides but protector. No matter who or what happened, she would always be available to help or get even.
◊ OBSERVANT After looking after a younger sibling for so many many years, she’s become very good at seeing the smallest of details or even predicting what could or should happen. It’s helped on the farm with the animals, in her classes and dueling at school, and most definitely out in her job.
◊ PRACTICAL Shazzi believed that everything and every person had a person and while she may not completely understand that purpose, it’s not on to her to force that understanding. It’s helped her to stay rational in situations that required it.
◊ OPINIONATED Shazzi also has the unfortunate belief that while every person and every thing has a purpose and it’s not up for her understanding, that it’s also usually not everyones business. She’s had countless detentions and write ups about the technicalities of things that usually were decided by a spell or a fist.
◊ SUBJECTIVE Her unique upbringing has brought about a different way for her to see and experience life and its predictability. Or rather, it’s unpredictability. It allows her to be able to empathize and even have a mild intuition regarding her surroundings and people.

CHILDHOOD Shazia is the first born of her parents A’isha and Kaylan Rowntree as well as the first born grandchild of both sets of grandparents. All to say that with all the spoils came the responsibility. Only a few years later her first brother was born and soon after her second brother and then after that her cousin, and on and on it went. Not to say she doesn’t love them all-she truly does-she’s also just very grateful they were raised on a rather large amount of land or else she feared she wouldn’t have kept her sanity before school. As the oldest, she was encouraged to learn every bit of the farm's maintenance; so alongisde her usual chores of feeding and cleaning up after the animals, she was also shown how to go over documents and records. Occasionally, Shazzi also went to her Aunt's farm to help in the horticulture, though this was short lived as it was obvious she did not possess a green or even a brown thumb. As she got older, the sparkle of learning everything started to dim and she felt more over burdened than anything before she finally made her "escape" to school.SCHOOL YEARS Shazzi was accepted into Hogwarts, the first on her mother’s side (and her father’s as well technically) and while she was given the option of attending her mother’s alma mater, she wanted to make her own footsteps. So she went off to Scotland and was soon sorted into Slytherin and was surrounded by children of nearly every background she could think of. Most of the time it was great; she joined a multitude of clubs and made friends in between her studies. The only not great times happened because some people couldn’t leave well enough alone unless there was a wand or a knee shoved up their chins. She’d gotten many a talking to and the occasional annoyed grunts of her housemates who swore she was just a Gryffindor wearing snake colors. None of this really bothered Shazzi, truthfully she just found it funny and tended to lean more into the stereotype for a while before she realized she had nothing to prove to anyone but herself. Over the years while she was at school, she was gifted two new siblings, a sister and brother. She’d been a tad worried about how her brothers were handling things in her stead (and if the youngers really even knew or liked her) but each break her fears were assuaged by their smiles and hugs. And their tattling.
POST GRADUATION Shazzi graduated with a grand total of 14 NEWT’s and steel spine as she marched to her parents and grandparents to tell them that she didn’t want to work full time at the farm but instead train to be a world class dueler. Or auror. Whichever sent a letter back sooner. Her parents she hadn’t been too worried about; they were of course anxious about her choice of career but ultimately agreed that it was her life and they would support her. Her grandparents…not so much. She detests yelling or even raising her voice but she’d had to do both before storming from the lot and leaving for a friend’s home for the next two weeks. Mainly just enough time for her to find her own small flat and move all her necessary things from the family home. Again, her parents were sad but understood why she felt the need to do it while her grandparents were still yelling about her disobedience. Thus with the arrival of her letter and Shazzi’s start of auror training, the silent treatment turned into a cold war that spanned almost two years. It was only thawed by the discovery of her youngest brother’s bullying (from which she’d had to hear it nearly third-third!-hand) and began coming back to the farm allot more to spend time with him and ultimately the rest of the family. It only took a few months after that for Benjamin and Surani to come by her flat with a peace offering and the promise to sit and actually listen. It was a very long and emotional conversation but thankfully by the end, they’d reached an understanding. Shazzi didn’t forgive them right then and there of course, but she didn’t ice them out the way she had before and sooner rather than later, things reached a new normal. Perhaps it was helped by the fact that her brothers went to work for the family farm after their graduations (which Shazzi dearly hoped wasn’t because of her own tiff with the grandparents) but everyone reached an “agree to disagree” standpoint which is exactly what she wanted. Currently however, she’s been thinking maybe she should’ve pushed more as they’ve began asking her very invasive questions about her dating life.

◊ RELIABLE If you give Addy a task of any sort, you’ll know with no doubt whatsoever that he’ll accomplish it. And he’s not just limited to tasks; as long as he’s given the who/what/when’s, he’ll be sure to be there or do that.
◊ SIMPLE Addy doesn’t really care beyond the present and even then just barely. It doesn’t take very much to make him happy or content, though admittedly it also means he usually takes things people say at face value.
◊ APPRECIATIVE Alongside his simplicity, Add can see the beauty in nearly any and everything. Among his favorites are breezes in the field, patches of clover, and the absolute best naps.
◊ PATIENT Addy sees no point in rushing or pushing himself more than he truly needs to. No matter what as long as you’re going somewhere you’ll get there eventually, so why dirty yourself up by trying to get there fast? Who are you really beating?? Yourself?? Weird.
◊ PERSUASIVE Just because he’s patient however, doesn’t mean that on occasion, Addy can’t talk a certain situation into his favor. His gentle and simplistic ways usually work in getting the animals to do what he needs, why shouldn’t the same work for people?

CHILDHOOD Adlai was actually born Ada, the last of five children to a farming family. His mother immigrated from Nigeria when she was a teen and worked at a market while going to school. This is where she met his English father who came from a long line of farmers and who also sold stock at the same market. While she liked him, she was afraid he only liked her as a commodity so she remained aloof to his obvious affections. Which was easy when she was away at school and could focus on magic rather than how his eyes reminded her of the freshed honey. Kaylan eventually won her over (how was apparently a stuff of legend who’s story kept changing depending on which adult you asked) but suffice, A’isha said yes and moved with him to a healthy stretch of land and began the start of their plentiful family. Ada didn’t feel different immediately, afterall their older sisters got dirty working the same jobs as the brothers and all toys eventually got shared with one another so it wasn’t glaringly obvious. At least until she was five and very politely told her father that she was tired of waiting for her p***s to grow. After that, Ada was soon Adlai and life continued on the farm, just with more medicines and doctor visits than before. It was discovered by his second oldest brother Haniya that he had a certain way with the more unruly of the animals, namely the sheep and pigs, so that became his solo job to the relief of the others. Honestly he very much didn’t mind. Sure the sheep could sometimes be annoying, especially when they kept trying to amble away after he had very clearly told them not to, but by far his favorites were the pigs. Those large, loud, squeaky things, God he loved them. They were the only animals he actually cried whenever it was time to sell or slaughter, to the point where he can’t even eat pork. As expected, his schooling letter arrived just as all his siblings had and he was whisked away by his mother to gather his supplies to start at Hogwarts. A’isha was saddened none of her children got to experience her own alma mater, but she supposed it was much easier to see her children, which was a definite plus. Addy is excited to learn magic, though a bit saddened and apprehensive to leave his farm. What if none of his siblings played the right flute songs for his babies!? SCHOOL YEARS ◊ FIRST YEAR Addy's first year at school was both intimidating and also not quite as bad as he'd been expecting. There was so many spots he could nap in! And there was a whole club dedicated to being outside and just breathing, it was awesome! He was a bit sad though that it was his sister's last year so he wouldn't see her at school anymore but she'd tried to have time for him in between her studying and showed him all sorts of neat places. She'd also kept throwing him at clubs and people to "be more social." Ugh. Sisters.
◊ SECOND YEAR It had been werid gong to school knowing that there weren't any other Rowntrees there, but Addy persisted. He even joined another club! It was yoga and he fell asleep more often than not, but it was something. Classes were ok, he sometimes had to be reminded to actively participate but at least his grades weren't lacking. He even participated in the end of year festival and his tea bags were a surprising hit. He's wondering if he could maybe talk his parents into adding it to the farmer's market shelf.
◊ THIRD YEAR This year was pretty uneventful. He added some new electives that he liked, he got either ok or good grades, and even made a few good friends. One who was even surprisingly alike in regards to their family, the only difference being they were an older sibling and Addy was the youngest. Still, friendship was friendship and maybe now he could get his own siblings off his back about being a quote "aloof loner."
◊ FOURTH YEAR A thankfully uneventful year besides harder tests and more homework, probably in preparation for the OWL's next year (something Adlai was not looking forward to or the career consultations) He only really had the barest bones of an idea of what he'd like to do in the future but he felt like he was being pushed and pulled into fifty different directions between his siblings, parents, and even grandparents. Gods give him strength for the summer holidays.
