Aruna waited patiently in the park for the young knight to show up, rocking back on her heels as she zoned out. The long tails of her fuku bow shimmered lightly as they swayed and brushed against her legs, her entire fuku looking decadent since her power up. She knew that it was a responsibility to newly awakened members of her faction to make sure they weren't just drifting, that they had some sort of information given to them and that they weren't just a ball of questions like she was at first. There were so many things that had weighed on her mind before meeting the friends she now had, and she didn't want anyone else to be in the dark like she had been. As she heard footsteps approach, she lifted her hand in a wave and gave a warm smile to Aberdonia. She would answer any question he might have to the best of her abilities, and anything she couldn't, she would make sure to get contact info for him so she could look into it later.

Aberdonia hurried toward the park, bag of groceries in hand, both to fulfill his errand, and to give teeth to the excuse he'd made so he could sneak out to the meeting. His mother wouldn't really have much cause to complain, and Yasmeen wouldn't be able to confirm when her older brother had been out, as she was over at a friend's house for the afternoon. It still wasn't a good idea to completely lie to his family more than he had to.
The canvas bags he'd stored in subspace during the meeting were now full of chickpeas, lentils, olives, a few lemons, an eggplant, a head of garlic, a tub of hummus, some tahini, a fresh bottle of olive oil, a small bag of rice, a few cuts of lamb and beef carefully wrapped in butcher's paper, and a large packet of grape leaves. They still had some flatbread at home, and Khaz's father, much as he might distrust and resent the man, was quite enthusiastic about checking in with Khaz's mother to confirm what they had in the family spice cabinet, what they needed, and which souks his father needed to hit up to ship fresh spices home. The Khalid household never hurt for the freshest herbs and spices to fill the family spice cabinet. That, and all the carefully chosen gifts for his wife and children, were things that Khaz couldn't really fault his father for, and, given his near-perpetual absence, Khaz dearly wanted to find fault with the man.
Finally, he spotted the other senshi waving at him and smiling. Grinning, he waved back.
"Hi! Sorry it took a bit, I needed to fill the bags a bit so my mom wouldn't ask questions about a long expedition to the store for only a few supplies. She's busy enough this afternoon that I don't think she will, but I'd rather not risk it."
Looking around, he gestured to a park bench where they could sit, and he could set down his groceries.
"Sooo...I have...like...a lot of questions. Possibly all of the questions. And I have nooo idea where to start. I guess maybe start by telling me all about these Negaverse people?"

"It's alright. I'm in no rush." Aruna gestured to a bench and took a seat, waiting for Aberdonia to do the same. "That is a... loaded question. But what it boils down to is that there are three factions, Order, which is us, then Negaverse, and Mirror Senshi. Negaverse and Mirror senshi have an alliance, more or less. They're both.... flavors of chaos, from what I understand. And it's mostly a them versus us situation in a cosmic war of good and evil. At least that is the ultra condensed version of it all."She gave the boy a sympathetic smile. "I know that's a lot to take in, so we can circle back to the whole cosmic war thing later if you want. I won't pretend to have all the answers, but I will answer anything that I am able." She watched him with a quiet, expectant gaze as she waited for his next question.

That...begged an awful lot of questions about morality. Including "Why did the side known as 'Order' get labeled as 'terrorists' by the side known as 'Chaos'?" But this was clearly a complex question. Better shelve it for the time being.
Aberdonia moved to sit on the park bench, setting down his bulging bags of groceries, pondering what else he could ask about that might not be tied to the Negaverse. He could infer that "General Kings" were part of the Negaverse, so save them for later, too. As for the rest of the forces of Order....
"Mkay, I got you. We can circle back to them later. So...who were the non-senshi at the meeting with the weapons and the non-space names? The people called, like, Hy-Brasil of Earth, or Celadon of Cybele? And what's a Wonder?"
It seemed like the next logical thing to ask about, and the next piece of the puzzle. Whoever they were, they seemed like people he might be able to count on when the going got tough. Not that everybody on the side of Order would be someone he felt he could trust--anyone who spoke casually of killing other people wasn't someone he wanted to befriend--but at least he could trust them to either help, or not backstab him. Probably. Honestly, a lot of qualifiers in that statement, but it seemed better than nothing, and people on the side of Order mostly seemed to not be a bunch of ax-crazy murderers or terrorists.

"Those are Knights. Within our faction, we have Knights and Senshi. Senshi, like ourselves, have our names based off celestial bodies and have more....attack type magic? I suppose? Knights have their names based off their Wonders, which are locations, I believe. So in the case of Celadon of Cybele, for example, Celadon is the name of her Wonder, and she is a knight of Cybele, which is her leader. There are knights of each of the planets, as well as under some high level senshi, to my understanding. Cybele and Ida are two, that I can think of right off." She frowned a bit as she talked it out. "I'm afraid that when it comes to knights, I'm not as knowledgeable as I would like to be. I know that their magic is usually more likely to buff or enhance others rather than be outright offense based, though."She gave him a small smile to reassure him before continuing. "The Negaverse has a similar faction setting, I believe. There are senshi and then Agents, which would be a much more deadly version of our Knights. Agents often have mineral names, such as General King Faustite, and corrupted senshi are easy to distinguish by their dark bodices and cracks on their chest and forehead." She tapped her chest and forehead respectively as she spoke. "And...usually they have ridiculously long hair, though I'm not sure if that's a fashion statement or dresscode or what." She shrugged and snorted softly at the idea of a dresscode enforced hair length.

Aberdonia leaned back against the bench as he chewed through those details. Senshi were guardians of a specific celestial body, but multiple knights could serve the same planet, and, in two confirmed examples, under specifically high-level senshi. Which would suggest that they were sort of tied to the same celestial body as their senshi, just maybe not as the protectors of the whole planet, maybe just pieces of it. That would make a certain amount of sense, especially if those locations that had an assigned knight were of some kind of value to the celestial body in question.
Taking a deep breath, he said, trying to sort it out, speaking slowly as he went, "So senshi are the guardians of their specific celestial body, and knights are protectors of maybe specific locations on those celestial bodies, but for a celestial body to have knights, their senshi must be, or have been, of a very high level, for knights to manifest at all. And if a lot of us have dead or dying worlds, maybe our worlds only have enough magic to power up a senshi, but not enough juice to support a coterie of knights, because the homeworld would need to experience a certain level of stability and generalized health for the homeworld to be able to lend its powers to a bunch of knights." It was a wild theory, but it could be a viable working hypothesis of how all of this hung together.
"You don't need to confirm that, that's just speculation," he added hastily to Aruna. "I'm guessing there's not a lot of certainty to how the whole system works with knights."
The other detail gave him pause. So the mineral names, and General Kings, were Negaverse Agents who were like nasty versions of the knights, and there were corrupted senshi, too. Who, if the agents were anything to go by, were probably more dangerous than an Order senshi. Which was definitely a cause for concern, and a reason to redouble his efforts to look out for people caught in the crossfire or wounded in the line of duty.
"If the Negaverse is as dangerous as it sounds, I think it's fair to assume that, even if they're playing nice with the civilian population, that could radically change if they get into a scrap with us in any place where a lot of civilians are hanging out. Are they pretty careful to avoid collateral damage, are they less cautious, or is it sort of on a spectrum? Oh, and are there any Negaverse senshi and agents I should actively avoid?" he asked, running down all the possible concerns in his head.Lena Roze Refinement to Aberdonia's Knight Theorem: The Code may not reawaken on worlds where there were previously knights until there's a royal tier senshi. Worlds that never had a royal senshi before never rated any pieces of the codes (very probably how it worked). But this is me spitballing through Aberdonia.

Aruna listened patiently as the younger senshi spoke, nodding along. "That sounds like a reasonable conclusion, and I could probably ask a few friends who have been at this for a lot longer than I have if that's correct. I think that at least Murikabushi would know? Kerberos probably would too."At the mention of the danger of the Negaverse, Aruna sighed softly. "Some of them show restraint and some just simply do not care. They are, after all, individual people. Tempesti met one fairly recently. A corrupted senshi called Ako. She... apparently saved her from one of the snow monsters around Christmas time, and she was just a civilian at the time. I have yet to cross paths with Ako but...she seems to be at least one of those who isn't opposed to talking?" She honestly couldn't wrap her head around why the corrupt senshi would save a civilian, but she planned to certainly find out. "As for who to avoid, obviously Faustite, as mentioned before. He's a General King, which is...sort of like the pinnacle of the Negaverse's power. And in addition, he's part youma. And before you ask, no, I don't know exactly how that happens or how that works. Other than the fact he is quite literally on fire and is really strong and has a bad temper, I don't know much about him. But I saw some of what he was capable of. I felt how powerful he was. It was....not a pleasant experience, to say the least. As for anyone else, I've been fortunate enough to not have much of any run-ins with negaverse folk." She rubbed the fresh scar on her arm, the line disappearing under where her glove rested on her elbow. "I dont know the name of the ones I came face to face with, but....just know that anyone with lethal looking weapons and mostly in black is someone you want to avoid. And if you feel like you're overwhelmed or overpowered, the most important thing is to get yourself to safety. No fight is worth your life."

"Sounds like Ako's a pretty decent person, and, yeah, Faustite sounds like a reason not to walk into a dark alley after dark."
Aberdonia chewed on the rest of the details a moment. Anybody in dark clothing who carried a lethal-looking weapon was bad. Probably unless you were at some kind of convention or historical reenactment event, then all bets would be off the table. As for corrupt senshi...
"I'm guessing the people in dark clothing with lethal-looking weapons are Negaverse Agents? Do the corrupt senshi also wear dark costumes? I'm guessing they don't have weapons, because neither do we; I could see some of us having tools, but not really weapons, since that feels like a Knight/Agent thing," he mused aloud. "But, yeah, I won't stick around if things look lethal; if things start looking lethal, I'm going to grab anyone who looks vulnerable and run like hell, because my magic's pretty defensive, and I have no idea if that's going to change at some point in time. Plus, the whole 'defend those in need of protection' is the whole reason I Powered up in the first place. Kinda hard to protect the innocent if you're dead."
He watched her rub the scar on her arm. One of them had clearly harmed her in a more permanent way. Which confirmed that the costs of these fights were very real. Not that Aberdonia didn't take every fight seriously, but it was still something to be aware of, especially as he grew accustomed to all of this, and became inured to the demands of being a magical hero.

Aruna nodded, sighing softly. She knew there was more to the General King that just the surface level danger, but that wasn't her place to speculate on at the moment. "That honestly sounds about right. Where our fuku have white bodices, corrupt senshi will have black. As for weapons, I haven't really had much experience with them myself but from what I understand, even corrupt senshi don't really have weapons so much. The lethal weapons are more what you would see with Agents."She nodded, relieved that he sounded sensible and was agreeing to get out of there if he was in danger. "Exactly. Make no mistake, this is a....very dangerous war. It can and has cost people their lives, and somehow I feel that more lives will be lost in the future." She felt bad with the gravity of her words, hoping she didn't scare him too much, but she felt that it was important to stress just how lethal this truly could be. "Never feel like you're alone though. There will always be people you can reach out to and who will come to your aid." She smiled softly at that, reaching over to lightly squeeze his shoulder.

Aberdonia nodded. The more he found out, the more he felt aware of just how necessary actions like his might be. He wouldn't be able to protect everyone, but he sure as heck could try. And if other people were willing to help out on that front, or at least keep the danger distracted from anyone he was trying to save, this was just a little bit closer to winnable.
"Thanks, Aruna," he said with a smile. "I'll keep that in mind."
Glancing down at the groceries, he realized he didn't have a lot of questions left, and the more perishable groceries wouldn't wait too much longer.
"I should get going, but I want to circle back to the earlier question of the Negaverse and the cosmic war. I think I understand the stakes better, who to trust when they're Powered up, who to be very careful of when they're Powered up, and all that jazz, but I think it's time to ask what I can about what's at stake in this war," he said slowly. "I'm guessing it's the fate of the planet, and Order and Chaos have different goals...or, maybe, more specifically, Order and the Negaverse have different ideas of what Earth's fate should be."Lena Roze AKA, "Are we the baddies? Placing a gentle hand on his shoulder and giving a light squeeze, Aruna nodded. "The fate of the planet, yes. If Chaos wins, the planet and life within it will be drained of all energy. Chaos has... harmed and destroyed many planets. I don't know much personally of it, but to my knowledge, the Deep Space Senshi, the more alien looking ones that were at the meeting for example like Grieve? Their planets were ravaged by chaos. I only know a small handful of them myself, but... it would be wise to learn from them. Though... perhaps not Grieve." She shuddered lightly at the thought of the loud, yellow woman from the meeting. She had never done well around loud or aggressive people, and she made a note to do her best to not linger near her too much. "Though if you do seek them out to speak of it, tread carefully. They... will have lost everything, I believe. And that is a sort of sadness I couldn't even begin to fathom." Aruna was no stranger to loss and grief, but to imagine it on that sort of scale was beyond her. "Order, such as we are, stand to preserve the life of and on this planet. And perhaps to restore what was lost on other planets as well. Chaos and the Negaverse want to wipe it clean, I believe. There are those within Chaos that have their own goals, just as there are those within our own ranks who have their own as well. But on a whole, in the Cosmic sense of things, we are 'the good guys', as a friend of mine put it." She seemed thoughtful for a moment before making the decision ultimately to trust him. "If you have questions after this and need to find me, you can come to my work, Puppy Paws. Ask for Halia. And that goes for it you need help too, okay? I keep a pretty good med kit there, and my boss will likely understand if I need to take a very abrupt break." Or at least she figured Keiran would understand.

Aberdonia nodded, smiling up at Aruna. "I know what you mean, about the Deep Space Senshi," he said, thinking of Tianyi, of the silent sorrow and loneliness wrapped around the alien senshi like a cloak, even if it was muted. "Also, thanks, for all the information, for the kindness, for the wisdom, for the offers." He got to his feet.
"Now I should be getting home, before my family asks what made the errand take so long. I'll check in with you if I need it, and I'll see you around!"
With that, he gave a small wave, and began making his way home, Powering down in a copse of trees a few bends in the path away, jogging home part of the way, pondering all that he had learned.
