Lily sat on her bed, it was later in the afternoon, and she had just gotten out of the shower. Her eyes stayed fixed on the ground in front of her, she had missed morning classes, her excuse was that she was sick, but truthfully, she was scared to go back to history. The images of the hallucination that Langali put them through still clung to her mind like cobwebs, vivid and brutal. Her entire time in it was spent pushing her anxiety further and further down, stashing it in little boxes at the top of an imaginary shelf where she couldn’t reach it. She hadn’t dealt with the feelings left behind until last night. Lily knew overall she was okay, obviously none of it was real despite it feeling very real, but it still bled into her life like a living nightmare.
She clutched the towel around her body, her hair still wet dripping down her back. Lily still felt like the blood—although fake, was still all over her. This was her second shower of the day already. What she had to do in the simulation was a little too much for her, and on top of it, she felt guilty, because it wasn’t real and she never actually had to face any real battle, and here she was stressed over a fake event. She didn’t have a right to feel this way.
Lily needed a distraction.
Suddenly she stood, who better than to distract her than her favorite guy. She let the towel fall from her body to land by her feet. Her green eyes scanned what she could of herself, scenes of blood on her skin flashing in and out of her mind. With a quick inhale and a shake of her head, she stepped over the towel and went to change. Jeans, white sneakers and a loose button down. Good enough. She pushed her fingers through her now, mostly dry hair and took another deep breath, examining herself in the mirror. Everything was fine. Everything would be okay.
The campus was quiet for the most part, students likely at lunch or still in class, either way the rare silence was nice. Especially when her head was so loud. As she wandered, her feet carried her with newfound purpose for the day—through the hallways left and right until she found the door she had been searching for. She raised her fist to knock but an idea popped into her head, so she stopped herself, then took another quick glance at her attire.
A sly smile slid onto her face as she reached for the buttons at the top of her shirt. One, two, three… and four. Just to give him a little tease, he deserved it of course, after what he had been doing to her. She blew some hair out of her face; they had been together a few times since that first… situation but had yet to go all the way. She didn’t mind it of course, it was rare that she was able to take it slow, but she’d be lying if she said she hadn’t thought about it.
All of the time.
Especially when she was alone at night.
With a quick one, two tap she knocked on his door, the color of her face already changing to a light shade of pink. She stood back, a sense of excitement finding her, she wasn’t surprised, he was good at flipping her mood for the better. Hands clasped behind her back she waited patiently, she wasn’t sure if he had class at this time but figured it couldn’t hurt to check his room first before outing herself to her professors as not actually sick.

Nox had dealt with war before but that didn't keep him from hating every moment of it. Was he in his element? Yeah, unfortunately. It was certainly not something he wanted everyone to experience and even the two siblings he had ended up with were capable, at least one of them, but that didn't mean it was enjoyable. He had been pulled back to his old self for a while and it took him a bit to come out of it. So now that the duke had processed things he began to focus back and going to classes. That day he had cut out of some of his afternoon and headed back to his dorm. He wasn't expecting a knock at the door but when he heard one he looked up from his desk. He raised an eyebrow not having expecting any company but he stood, and headed to the door, swinging it open as he immediately grinned down at the blonde. " Couldn't stay away?" he didn't sound unhappy, and as she expected, his gold eyes momentarily moved down to the opened shirt that she had intentionally left for him. He laughed under his breath before reaching a hand out, brushing his thumb against her cheek before he stepped to the side. " Come on in, Sweet Flower." he used his pet name he'd begun calling her, even to Hasan he mentioned her as his flower. Did she know that? No, but eventually she would.
Nox had found himself taken in by the blonde, even more so than even he anticipated and every time he had her underneath him he fell further. " How are you holding up from history?" he hadn't made contact with her too much since the class, but he tried to keep and eye out for her, and he didn't know what she went through, but it was certainly rougher than what she was used to. Once she was in the room he closed the door behind her and walked up behind her, his hands wrapping around her waist, pulling her against him as he rested his chin on her head. " So what brings you to see me again?" he hoped that it had to do with the fact that he could look down her shirt that she had it so open, but he would listen to her and whatever she wanted to talk about, until she didn't want to talk and wanted another distraction.

A few students waved as they walked by, she returned a small greeting back, a false smile planted on her face. After what felt like ages, Nox finally opened the door, and her once perfected fake smile grew into a very large happy one. She beamed. The man who stood in the doorway filled her stomach with fluttering wings, it was very obvious to her that she had quite the crush on him. It made her feel like a teenager, giddy and excited whenever she was in his presence. “You make it very difficult to stay away,” She purred as she watched his eyes fall to her chest with a raised eyebrow and a coy grin—got him.
The warmth of his hand against her cheek made her heart pound and she couldn’t help but lean into it, the comfort he provided was instantaneous. She stepped passed him to walk into his dorm, subtly checking him out on the way. It was hard to ignore how cute he looked in his baggy clothing, It seemed as though he may have also played a little hooky that afternoon.
Lily had gotten use to his dorm, she had been there a couple of times since their first encounter and just as he promised, she couldn’t stay away. He had been somewhat… addicting? Yes, that felt right, downright addicting, and she was happy to be his Sweet Flower. It was a much better pet name than anyone had given her before him, and it made her feel special. But that was easy for him to do, whether he knew it or not.
His question about history did take her off guard though, she suddenly felt her stomach drop. For a minute, she couldn’t bring herself to look at him, she just stood quietly, looking at his room acting as if she had never been in there before. She pointed to a few books on his desk, “Oh are those new?” Then his bed, “That looks comfy,” She knew that the books weren’t new and she obviously knew that the bed was comfortable, but it was a sad attempt to change the subject. However, when she felt his arms around her every muscle in her body relaxed, and she melted into him, all bets were off. Her hands gently grasped his arms when he pulled her into him, and a familiar heat centered between her legs. “History was fine,” She said through a defeated breath, eyes closing, enjoying this moment of contact.
Everything was fine.
It was.
In all honesty, it didn’t matter anymore now that she could feel him against her.
She turned in his arms so she could face him, “I wanted to see you.” Green eyes caught his golden ones as she looked up at him, ******** he was tall. A darker shade of red tinted her cheeks as she moved closer, pressing herself against him, the unbuttoned part her shirt exposing the top of her breasts as she did. Her hands traveled up to his biceps, and she couldn’t help but admire them, she loved being wrapped up in his arms it was all she could ever think about. She really wanted to do was kiss him, but even on her tippy toes she couldn’t reach him if he didn’t lean into it.
So instead, she settled the side of her head against his chest, her breathing softened while she listened to his heart beat. She was also concerned about him, they hadn’t spoken about the event since it happened, and although she knew he had experienced true battle before, it didn’t mean that it didn’t bother him. “Same question,” Lily paused, then leaned back to look up at him again, her fingers tracing delicate circles on his back, “How have you been since that awful class?” She hadn’t been back to history since, she knew she had to, but every inch of her body told her it wasn’t safe, and she always trusted her instincts.
Especially the part of her instincts that were telling her to jump this man immediately, and pull him to the bed. But she had to check in first, see where he was at. She cared about him a lot more than she thought she would, the intimacy of that first conversation stuck with her, she felt close to him, in more ways than one.

Nox could tell that something was bothering her but he wasn't blaming anyone for how they reacted after being thrust into that situation. He and Hasan had the experience, thankfully, but he knew a lot of people did not. Lily being one of them. With her pulled close to him, he could feel her smaller hands on his arms and he closed his eyes, his head leaning on her head shifting slightly as he breathed in the smell of her shampoo. He smiled against the top of her head, even with her attempts at distraction, they both knew it was something that had happened and would be affecting people in different ways. Her answer surprised him but he didn't want to push quite yet, his hands that rested against her hips gently moving his thumbs in small reassuring circles.
When she turned in his arms he loosened his grip slightly until she was facing him and he grinned down at her. Her head landed about the center of his chest, and he slid one hand up her back, resting it on her upper back while he kept his other arm still around her waist. He pulled her a little closer as she rested the side of her head against him and a brief, deep laugh left him. " I wanted to see you too." when he heard her ask him in return how he was doing and looked back up at him, his gold eyes softened slightly. He turned while keeping her in his arms, before he sat on his chair, pulling her close in between his legs so they could be more face to face. " It was realistic, got to give him that much." realism was the point and he knew it, but something still bothered him.
He pulled her a little closer, one hand sliding up to brush a hair behind her ear. " The professor is capable of making something like that very realistic. There was a point, and I hope no one was traumatized while he reached that point." he also knew that things sort of played out as they had. Langali hadn't planned on anyone getting hurt, but if they did they were safe at least in the end. His gold eyes scanned her face before he brushed his thumb across her cheek. " I'm glad you're alright from it, war isn't something I want anyone I care for to experience." despite the fact that a lot of his closest friends did experience it, it had made them closer. That wasn't to say that it absolutely didn't suck, especially when hard decisions had to be made.

His height shined when he sat down and pulled her between his legs, how was it that this was the only way she could be more face to face with him. Her heart beat a little faster as she looked into his golden eyes while he answered her question, brushing a piece of hair behind her ear in the process. He was right, it was realistic, and unfortunately for her—traumatic. Suddenly she dropped his gaze, still leaning into his hand as he brushed his thumb across her cheek. She let out a quiet sigh, her body instantly relaxing again at his touch, in a tiny voice she finally came clean, “Physically I’m alright…” Green eyes landed on his floor to the side of him, her mind jumping in and out of her nightmarish memories.
“But honestly, it was awful.” Finally, she looked up at him and reached out to touch the side of his face, momentarily admiring the handsome man in front of her, her thumb gently brushing against him, “I had never experienced anything like it,” Her eyebrows furrowed, and she shut her eyes as quiet frustration bubbled inside her as she remembered the two men she was stuck there with. Ignoring why that was sticking out and not the actual traumatic situation, that was shelved. After a second or two of light breathing, her eyes reopened with a newfound calm, pushing past the annoyance of the past, “The important thing is that we are both okay.” Her other hand reached up, cupping his face, “I was really worried about you, you know.” Her eyebrows pressed together again as she studied his expression, “I thought we were going to be stuck in there forever.”
Lily moved forward, pulling him into a quick, gentle kiss, then leaned back, dropping her hands to his chest then dragged them down to his abdomen as she pressed into him, twisting her fingers in his shirt while she played with the fabric. She came here for a distraction, and she needed him to be aware of that, “Can we do something? I want to get my mind off of this, I haven’t been to history in days,” She admitted subtly biting the inside of her cheek.
She turned her body once again, then pulled his large arms around her waist, leaving him wrapped around her hips as she backed into him, settling comfortably against him. Lily looked around his room for any activity, yes 99% of her wanted to finally seal the deal but he was very adamant about not doing anything while she was in a bad headspace, so she figured this moment was no different. Instead, she needed to prove to him she actually was okay this time. The event was horrific, yes, but it wasn’t like she just found out her mother wasn’t really her mother, and her real mom died without her ever knowing her. No, that would be crazy.
Her chest dipped as she exhaled, “I’m sure you have things you like to do, right? I mean, other than me…” Her voice trailed off into a suggestive tone, unable to help herself, she did really enjoy flirting with him. She turned her head briefly to glance behind her, giving him an inviting little grin as she leaned a little more into him. She could be a tease too, if she really wanted to. “Any games you like...?” She turned her head back to look at his dorm room, it looked half moved in still, but perhaps he didn’t have many things that he brought with him, she never really had the opportunity to look closer at his room, she was too busy with other more important activities.

Nox wasn't expecting the history class to go as smoothly for her as it did for him, and even for him it didn't. He had at least battle under his belt to handle things and the rest he made it up as he went along. He hadn't heard anything from Nadia recently, so he assumed that neither of the siblings had told her about his slip yet. He knew eventually it would come to get to her, and he just had to be ready. Focusing back onto the woman in front of him he listened to her words. He brushed his thumb against her jawline as she took a couple breaths. He wanted her to be able to get her thoughts out without him interrupting her and when she finally looked up at him again, he admired her green eyes before finally replying. " I was worried about you too. I found myself with a couple of siblings, and conveniently, they were looking for his fiancé. I made sure to mention you...I couldn't stand the thought of you out there not sure what to do." he didn't want to demean her, and he hoped his words came across as such. He just worried because she had confessed her lack of battle history.
As she gently pulled him in for a kiss, he slid his hand that was on her cheek to the back of her neck. Feeling her turn in his arms, he allowed her to guide his arms around her, his hands settling against her hips as she looked around his room. If he was honest, he didn't spend much time in here. He was either outside exercising, training with Hasan or if he was in here the past couple of times that he'd been settled for a day he had her with him. He leaned his head in a little, allowing his chin to rest on her shoulder, breathing in the smell of her freshly showered hair and body. " Things to do? Hm. I'm usually outside but..." his eyes landed on something on one of his shelves, his lips curling into a smile. When she teased him, he leaned his head down a little, pressing his lips against her neck before giving her a gentle n**. " Careful, you talk like that I'll eat you up right here." he had already had the intention of making her feel good again and clearly, she was all for it.
A couple more kisses to her neck and he shifted towards the edge of his chair. " I've got an idea." using his arms that were already around her waist he slid his left arm up a little, his right releasing her and suddenly lifting her up bridal style. He grinned down at her before setting her on his bed. He held up a finger and went over to the shelf, reaching for a box that he pulled down and sat back down, shifting his leg so she was between his legs and wrapped one arm around her waist again, his fingers brushing her hip. " I've never told you about who I consider family, have I?" he didn't have many activities they could do, other than each other, so this way he could distract her and get her in a better place before he really distracted her.
" Who would you like to hear about first? My mother or...my found family?" he left the decision up to her, the box sat at his side, it held pictures that he kept as memories in case it ever came down to it.

Hearing him mention that he brought her up amongst others because he was concerned and did attempt to search for her as well, made her stomach do backflips. Something about having this man look out for her filled her with fluttering wings. Lily let out a quiet exhale as she felt him up against her, resting his chin on her shoulder. She could feel him breathe her in, causing goosebumps to dapple the back of her neck and arms. Such a simple action, yet heat started to pool between her legs in response, intensifying when she felt his lips against her neck, her thighs squeezed together. The small breath that escaped her was similar to a little moan as she relaxed against him, “Oh no how horrible…” Her eyes fluttered shut as she responded to him in a sing song tone, sarcasm dancing from her lips.
Being eaten up by him was now at the forefront of her thoughts.
Her eyes flashed open as she felt her legs suddenly give away as he swooped her up. “Nox!” Lily giggled excitedly, wrapping her arms around his neck as he grinned at her before setting her on the bed. She gripped the covers and crossed her legs as she watched him grab a small box—curiosity now getting ahold of her. Her green gaze followed him closely as he sat back down, keeping her between his legs. His hands on her waist once again causing her cheeks to flow into a deep red tint. “You haven’t…” Lily adjusted her body slightly to tilt her head so she could look back at him, then shifted her gaze back to the box while she settled herself against him.
She brushed her hand against his arm then allowed it to rest against the one he had on her waist as she held him close to her. The duchess was certainly curious about how this man came to be the incredible person that he was. As he asked which she preferred to learn about, she found herself tapping his hand, pondering over what she wanted to know first. Lily only knew a little of his mother, mainly that she was friends with her own, but not too much more than that. On the other hand, she knew next to nothing about his found family.
“I’d love to hear more about your found family, if that’s okay?”
A smile tugged on her lips, realizing that he felt comfortable enough bringing this topic up. She knew she had begun to develop feelings for Nox, but she wasn’t sure if he felt the same. He was handsome, kind and strong, and she wouldn’t be surprised if he was seeing this as something casual. Lily wasn’t against casual, for the most part she felt totally fine about it, although the more she hung out with him the more she started to feel more for him. It was scary, but at the same time exciting. She told herself she didn’t mind if he was seeing other people, except lately, she wasn’t sure if she had the same mindset.
She actually shuddered at the thought, Lily knew deep down that she hoped he had feelings for her as well, especially since he was bringing up personal topics, like family. Either way, it wasn’t the time to get sucked into such thoughts, right now she was about to learn more about him.

Nox heard her little sound she made, his lips curling into a smile as she leaned back into him. Her sarcastic response made him chuckle against her skin before he had picked her up. She was light enough for him, and she felt right against him the way she had been many times before. He didn't expect to feel this way after interacting with her that first night, he almost had expected things to fizzle out like they had time and time again. But to his surprise she had come back for more, and even more surprising? He wanted her to come back. The duke wasn't known for hitting things off right away and it sticking but he was glad this was. The way she said his name before laughing had gotten even his stomach in a knot, but he was able to push past it.
Pulling her in close to his chest, he hummed as she requested to know about his family that he'd found over the years. " You've actually met a few of them." he started, the fact that he was in fact perfectly comfortable talking to her like this making him happy. " That first night I had met you, the woman who came to my aide is a good place to start. Fio, we've been friends since the war actually. Fought together." as he spoke, he was making little circles on her hip with his thumb. He hooked his chin against her shoulder as he leaned in slightly and closed his eyes. " Hasan came after her, I'd tell you he's my brother but he's truthfully my brother in arms and best friend." He could have just left it as they were brothers, but then if word ever got out that Hasan was the prince, well, that would raise questions with Lily and even now deep down he didn't want to lie to her.
That left the girls. He opened his eyes and a small grin formed on his lips before he lifted his head and rested his chin on top of her head. " Hasan has two sisters, Amena and Nadia. I treat them like my own sisters in that regard, as well as Fio." he knew not every kingdom was quite so close but he was proud to be part of Thah and the closeness they shared. " Akwasi is here too, but I'm not quite as close with him as I am the others, however that doesn't mean I wouldn't step in to help if he ever needed it."
Nox bit his tongue when it came to his next thought, not wanting to say it out loud quite yet. Right now, they were close but mostly in the physical sense, he wasn't sure about the feelings blooming in his chest yet, but he was willing to give it a shot. ' And now you, Lily. I wouldn't let anyone come near you, like that man.' he thought it in his head, Draco's face flashing in his mind for a moment before he pushed it aside and focused on the woman in his arms. Another thought crossed his mind and it pulled a low chuckle from him. " Nadia might be coming to find me at some point, I slipped up and in the moment in history class I misspoke about her hair. Another student had to correct me, but I'm guessing word hasn't gotten to her yet." he was sure it would eventually though, as things always did in a place like this.
He shifted his eyes down, his arms around her waist tightening slightly. " Is there anything else you want to know?"

The day they met wasn’t her proudest moment, she woke up with anxiety just for it to worsen throughout the day. She was naïve, although she would never admit it out loud, and a small part of her didn’t care if the “snakes”—as they have been referred to in the past—got ahold of her. Deep down she knew she didn’t truly want to go through with anything. Lily knew it would have been a mistake, and she would come to regret it, but her mind was all over the place. She was scared and simply didn’t want to be alone. So, when she thought back to Fio, she couldn’t stop the hint of embarrassment from taking over her emotions.
But the moment she felt him against her shoulder, his thumb drawing little circles into her hip, all negative emotions dissipated. Feeling his breath against her only filled her with warmth, and happiness…and a little something else. It didn’t take much more for her to push the shame out of her head as he continued to talk about his family. Hasan not actually being his brother did surprise her, she blinked a few times bringing an image of him into her thoughts, they looked strikingly similar for not actually being related. Lily quietly giggled when he moved his head to the top of hers. It still amazed her that even as they were sitting, he was still tall enough to comfortably rest against her like he had been doing
“Akwasi… hm,” She said keeping her voice low as to not interrupt him, she was trying to picture him but for whatever reason couldn’t, maybe she hadn’t met him yet? Nadia and Amena were another story though, she did know of the two but had also yet to meet them. She made it a habit to secretly gaze at Nox during History, and because they were grouped—she assumed by nation, they caught her eye. They were beautiful, and close to him and at first, she may have been a tiny bit jealous. But over time she grew to learn that Nox, and the others had a really special relationship, a bond that she was so happy to get to hear about finally.
There was a brief pause, one that didn’t go unnoticed before he continued with a small chuckle, and she couldn’t help but join him. Lily gently smacked his arm, “You really messed up, she’s definitely coming for your head.” Getting his sisters hair color wrong? Yikes. She flashed a grin, “Gotta be more observant than that...” After a little tease, she settled against him, grasping his arms firmly as he tightened around her waist. A familiar throbbing made itself known, anytime he held her like he was, it turned her on, even if just slightly. It was enough to grab her attention.
“Is there anything else you want to know?”
She shut her eyes, of course there was, she wanted to know about every minute of his life. Lily shuffled, ignoring the feeling between her legs for now, and switched her attention to the small box. Without hesitation she leaned forward to pick it up, “Are there pictures of you and your mom in here?” She turned to get a better look at him, one hand holding the box with the other resting softly against his thigh. The color of her cheeks flushing into a light pink as she caught his gaze. Lily felt so much closer to him, for whatever reason, and she wasn’t running from it. She liked it too much, having a crush was fun. It all felt so…innocent.
Outside of the very not so innocent activities they frequently enjoyed together, of course.

Nox laughed as Lily hit his arm at his admission of forgetting Nadia's hair color. He only tightened his arms and grinned at the other side of his room before looking down at her. " And I'll take whatever punishment she chooses to give me." he hadn't noticed Lily watching him before all the time but she seemed to be a little more at ease now that he explained a few things. Her shuffling didn't go unnoticed. He made a mental note to start teasing her soon, he wanted to make her feel good before they ultimately went the rest of the way. He hummed in a questioning tone as he looked down at the box and nodded. " Some of us, mostly Hasan and I when we were able to get them done on the field. Although there's two in particular I'd like to show you.." he kept the box in her hands as he moved one hand from around her, moving his right leg around behind her almost securing her a little more as she had turned to face him a little more. " Where is it....? Ah, there it is. This is my mother and my little sister."
The picture he brought out showed a woman who had skin the tone of his own, bright gold eyes that he clearly got from her. She had long white hair, and was holding a little girl in her arms, with those same piercing gold eyes but she had brown hair. The one behind that was the same two, but there was another man with them. He had long brown hair and hazel eyes, his arm was wrapped around her shoulders as the little girl smiled happily. " The man with them is her husband, the father of my sister. Good man." a calmer smile flickered across his face before he tilted his head slightly towards Lily. He had found himself watching her a little more fondly lately and just sitting like this only reinforced that point, he was becoming more comfortable as time went on.
The remainder of the pictures were usually both him and Hasan, occasionally Fio was in the pictures. He had clearly kept the important ones even if they weren't the best; as there was one she passed where it was all blurry but he and Hasan could be seen laughing in it. He chuckled, looking down at it. " We were likely drunk in that one." he and his brother got into trouble easily and drinking didn't help it. He smiled down at her, carefully sliding his hand down the side of her face, his fingers brushing gently against her jawbone before his thumb found her lips. He ran his thumb over her bottom lip before he exhaled out his nose in a quiet huff. " You're beautiful today, have I told you that?" he knew he was sounding corny but he couldn't help it with her.

The picture of his mother and sister made her feel warm all over. She reached toward the photograph with the hand that was not currently holding the box and gently touched it. Her thumb brushed against the glossy finish of the image; her smile softened as she took in his family. She knew he had siblings from their past conversations, but she hadn’t seen any pictures of them, so this felt special. Lily leaned into him and lowered her hand back to his leg. Nox’s body heat made her want to curl into his chest.
“You all have the same eyes,” Lily said quietly, she felt happy for him that he had this waiting for him back home. Her eyes landed on his little sister, lips parting like she was going to say something, then shut before she did. ’I hope I can meet them someday.’ She had fallen into her thoughts; would her father even allow her to visit Thah? Especially this particular family? He had to know of their existence, his mother visited hers while she was in Mars. He knew every person who stepped foot on their grounds. Her eyebrows furrowed, she was thinking too far into the future, she knew that. Lily wasn’t even sure how Nox felt about… whatever they were.
A breathy sigh escaped her as she relaxed her expression, there was no need to get caught up in her head. Lily was happy in the moment, and had been every time they would see each other, that was good enough for her.
She watched as he went through the rest of the photographs, images of FIo, Hasan and Nox flipped by. She laughed with him at the blurry one, then leaned forward just a bit to get a better look, “You look so happy.” She wondered if the pictures were taken while he was away fighting in the war, or if these were still back in Thah, part of her wanted to ask but instead she pushed it down. He would bring it up if he wanted to. A grin tugged at her lips, “I’ve never seen you drunk, but now I kind of want to.” Lily teased, but she meant it, it didn’t occur to her they had yet to have a boozy night together, and she wanted to see that side of him.
The feeling of his hand against her face sent more chills up and down her body, goosebumps dotting her arms and legs once more. She turned her head towards him as his thumb grazed her jaw then ended at her bottom lip, which trembled slightly at his touch. Heat burned her cheeks, she knew she was blushing—how could she not when he was looking at her like this and calling her beautiful. She exhaled a shaky breath, praying the color in her face would fade back to its’ normal shade but still somehow knew that it wouldn’t no matter how many deep breaths she took. “I—” Her stomach somersaulted, “—Um no, I don’t think you have…” She managed to say, her hand finding his forearm so she could lightly grasp it. Lily wanted to have a repeat of the time she decided to give him a sneak preview, her oral fixation showing face once again, but there was something that had been nagging at her.
His sisters father.
Not his own? She paused briefly, gathering her thoughts, because right now they were being flooded with images of Nox above her, shirtless, his hand holding both of her arms crossed above her head as he did x-rated things to her. “Um…” She started calmly, albeit a little uncomfortable not wanting to ruin the moment or cross any boundaries. Before she continued her question, she pressed her lips against his thumb giving it a tiny kiss before she moved his hand down, placing it on her chest. She imagined her heart was going insane from nerves, and it wouldn't surprise her if he felt it. “Just your... sisters father?” A subtle swallow traveled down her throat, she immediately regretted her question. Lily twisted abruptly, adjusting her position until she was on her knees and facing him fully so she could look him in the eyes. Her hands waved wildly back and forth, “I mean, you don’t have to elaborate if you don’t want to, I understand completely if that is too personal!” Her tone was a little higher than usual, she dropped her hands to her side placing one of them on his thigh, her green eyes suddenly filled with worry.

Nox laughed under his breath, knowing that that was surely something that could be arranged. Especially since he had wanted to introduce her officially to Hasan. Perhaps once he had a chance to meet up with him and talk out what happened in the class run by the one and only Langali, could he bring it up. He had been surprised that he was avoiding him but he was always one to give him space as he needed it. Occasionally making sure he wasn't going and picking fights with anyone though. So far, so good. He must have been able to get out some of that energy on the battlefield. When she leaned into him he slid one hand up onto her shoulder keeping her close. He was surprised that her presence had quickly become something that he longed for. He had found himself wondering if this is how his mother felt about the man she ended up marrying. " Hah, yeah we knew how to party even if it ended up with both of us with bruises by the end of it." he knew she wasn't as used to the horrors of war nor likely the fact that he and Hasan tended to beat on each other and were able to get away with it because they knew each other's limits.
He smiled down at her, pressing against her lips as she blushed at his comment, his gold eyes softening as she kissed the pad of his thumb. When she moved his hand down he was surprised that she hadn't reacted like usual but then her next question took his off guard. He blinked, not even realizing the wording that he'd used and he breathed out a slight sigh, shaking his head as she knelt up in front of him, clearly worried about his reaction. Sure it was a sensitive topic but he knew she deserved to know the full truth. Only his closest friends knew about the story that was his father, especially since he'd found himself both allied and enemies of Funkazan time and time again.
He lifted his hand up and cupped her cheek, his thumb again brushing along her soft skin. He didn't know when she'd become so important to him but he didn't want to ruin it. ' Well, here goes nothing...' he thought before his other hand set over hers that was on his thigh. " It's alright. I never knew my own father. The only thing I knew of him was his kingdom of origin and what he nearly convinced my mother of." a dangerous look flashed through his eyes for half a second. " He was from Funkazan, a soldier from what I've been told. I wasn't planned, but while my mother loved the idea of a child, my father was fully prepared to make her put an end to the pregnancy." he couldn't go into detail because he didn't know, and he'd never once made her speak of it. " Part of my powers come from that heritage which is... well, was conflicting for so many years. But these tattoos..." he moved his hand from over hers to brush against the one that moved down his arm. " A symbol of my loyalty to Thah. To those who I hold dear and want to protect."
Lily may not have known it, but she'd quickly worked her way into that circle. Initially because of her mother, but there was something about the woman that drew him in and he loved every moment of it. " So the fact that my sister has a complete family means everything, and I will do anything I can to keep my own family safe when that happens for me." He could hear Hasan calling him a sentimental fool in that teasing but still appreciative tone he had sometimes. A slight grin formed on his lips as he looked at her again and set his hand back on hers that rested against his thigh, his other hand sliding from her cheek to the back of her head as he carefully moved his fingertips against her scalp. " Don't ever apologize for asking to get to know me. I appreciate that more than you know." it was a nice feeling to be seen as more than muscle for the cause, even if he always had his family there for him it was a good feeling to truly be appreciated.

Lily exhaled quietly when he cupped her face, she could feel her pulse pounding in her chest, maybe she didn’t completely ******** up. She scooted closer to him, then sat back on her legs that were still folded underneath her as he began. His gaze was intense, and a little frightening. Not in a way that made her scared, it was just a harshness that she hadn’t seen before. As he went on, the more she understood the emotion behind his eyes. “That’s awful…” she said quietly, not wanting to interrupt him. Hearing that he was not full blooded Thah, not unlike herself, surprised her. There was a small part of her that felt closer to him, though, knowing he too had powers that were not of his nation. She could relate to the conflict. It did explain, however, why his body temperature felt so hot all the time.
Her eyes followed his as he motioned to his tattoos, her stomach filling with fluttering wings. She loved his tattoos, and now she loved them even more after learning how much they mean to him. Lily reached out and touched his arm, her face returning to a subtle pink glow as she trailed her fingers down, tracing the markings. She wondered if she was included in the people he cared that deeply for. It was clear that felt something toward her, but was it to that point?
The love he held for his sister made her butterfly filled stomach do backflips. His dedication to his family made her feel so…full. There was a small part of her that was envious of it. She didn’t really have anyone besides her father. He was overbearing, overprotective, and a liar. His love felt more possessive and paranoid than anything deeper. When she looked up, Nox had already been looking at her. More flutters, another backflip. His grin was contagious, and the way he held the back of her head sent a chills all over her body. Lily’s eyes closed for a second, enjoying his contact, an involuntary sigh escaped her lips.
Her green eyes reopened, locking into his and a smile tugged at the corner of her lips. So, he appreciated it. She didn’t see that coming at all. How could he be so kind? Lily slid her hand up his thigh as she leaned forward, closing the gap between them. Her lips met his gently at first, then she let it go deeper for a moment longer.
She paused and leaned back, leaving a few inches between them. Both of her hands brushed up his arms until they met behind his neck. She pulled him in closer then chewed on her bottom lip, thinking of the right thing to say. He opened up to her more than she expected him too, and she didn’t want to ruin that. “No, I appreciate you.” Her smile grew, “Thank you for telling me, Nox.” She said softly, her fingers playing with his hair at the nape of his neck. "I'm glad your mom went against that mans wishes. I don't know what my life would look like if you weren't in it" Her voice trailed off, that might have been too much, but she meant it. He made an impact in more ways than one, "She was really brave to do that."
Lily pulled herself into him, giving him a tight hug. Then tilted her head just a little so she could kiss the soft skin underneath his ear, “...I feel so much closer to you.” She hadn’t meant to say it, but it came out anyway, her voice was no louder than a whisper. Lily pressed her lips onto his pulse and moved one of her hands to the back of his head, then bit his neck playfully, teasing him just a little. Her positioning was feeling familiar to the first time they kissed, her arms wrapped around his neck, her body between his legs—well, until she climbed onto his lap.
She grinned into the warmth of his skin at the memory, then used his shoulders to push her back, making them eye level again. “I had to kiss you after that,” Her thumb brushed his shoulder softly, “Are you okay?” She felt a little concerned that he might be in his head now, she was nervous that she was the one who caused it with her thanks to her curiosity. Maybe they could both use a distraction.

Nox hadn't expected her reaction to be as it was. He knew that he could get a little heated at the topic, but he had his reasons. The fact that he never knew who his father was or if he was even alive out there for him to kick his a** was one thing that always bothered him. It also happened to be something that he only realized helped in the long run. Even when they stationed in the hotter climates, he was able to acclimate faster than even Hasan and that was with Thah being hot already. It took him a few moves to realize what was happening, but he had offered to sleep in the same bed as Fio on occasion if not to help keep her warm. Especially after she became pregnant, and he wanted to help keep the little one okay. It was a little awkward the only time she accepted it, but he felt better in the end. That was before she left the war and he and Hasan went on with being themselves. He figured Lily had noticed how he always ran hot, but it wasn't something he felt necessary to mention, and she liked he had put the pieces together. If she hadn't, she'd ask. That's just how she was.
When she leaned in Nox wasn't expecting her to press her lips to his, but his gold eyes closed slightly as he returned her kiss, letting her lead that time as she leaned into him. He was distinctly reminded of the first time she'd kissed him, which made his lips curl into a slight smile against hers. His hand that rested on the back of her head moved through her hair in a downwards motion and his expression softened ever so slightly as she spoke. He bit back his initial reaction to insist that it was nothing to speak of, but he knew in reality it was quite a big deal. She made the total of...six, now seven people who knew anything about his situation. And on top of that three of the people who knew didn't know the entire situation. He counted himself very lucky that he even had that many people who didn't judge him for his thoughts about the situation and that two of them would back him up in a moment if he ever came face-to-face with the man. He almost wanted that to happen, so he could let his feelings be known.
When Lily pulled herself against him, he was pulled out of his thoughts and closed his eyes, wrapping his arms around her smaller waist and pulling her gently but firmly against him. Her whispered words made his chest tighten, the emotions behind her words making him feel something he hadn't in a long time. Actual comfort. He let out a breathy, low laugh as he slid his hand back against the back of her head. He relaxed against her before she leaned back slightly, his gold eyes locking onto her green as he nodded his head. " I am okay. You're the third person I've told the entire story to, so it was something new for me." his eyes took on a mischievous glint briefly before he leaned back in, closing the distance but he didn't press his lips to hers quite yet. " And you know...you have a point, I might just have to..." he trailed off before he pressed his lips to her jaw, almost a smirk forming over his face before he tightened his hand in her hair ever so slightly. " Why don't we put the pictures aside and focus on the present?" his question held two meanings. One, he wasn't interested in focusing on the past and his family at the moment, and two...well, that one she could figure out. It wasn't just the present moment he wanted to focus on, it was this woman in his arms.
He loosened his arms enough so he was able to lean back up and smiled at her. " What do you say?"
