This RP features Aokigahara, d’If, Dunwich, Kaifeng, Lanting, and Selenga!
Most of the time, having a profile on the Connections app didn’t seem to do very much.
Kaifeng didn’t take that personally. It seemed like a lot of the profiles on said app hadn’t been updated recently, which perhaps indicated that the people behind them didn’t usually check the app very often. The way to get around that with regular apps was annoying notifications, but it wasn’t as though a senshi phone or a Knight’s signet ring could actually send those if someone wasn’t powered up. (At least, Kaifeng assumed so from seeing how different senshi phones, like Helene’s, Murkiabushi’s, and Stribor’s, all worked and from the understanding that they would not work if a senshi was powered down or unconscious.)
So, it had been a surprise for him the other night, when a signet ring message popped up from someone who had outright mentioned finding him on the Connections app. Thankfully, he’d been out patrolling with Helene at the time and hadn’t needed to go alone to meet up with her. Double-thankfully, everything had been above-board and exactly as it seemed for once (not to throw shade at anyone else in Kaifeng’s life, but getting roped into another situation that wound up involving plans like “snitch to a General-Sovereign about someone he loves being kidnapped and held hostage by Order” or similar……sounded like something that Kaifeng strongly desired to avoid, please and thanks).
Waiting for a second meeting now, Kaifeng couldn’t help but keep checking different potential blind spots. Meetings with too many powered energy signatures would probably look suspicious to other powered people out tonight, whether they were with one of the Chaos factions or (per Muri having gotten suspicious during that whole mess back in December) even with Order. If anyone thought to come out and cause problems, he didn’t want to get caught unawares. Sure, this group could handle themselves, with three full Knights and a Squire among their ranks. But other powered individuals could still get suspicious.
So, it did feel like a potential risk, standing out in Eastcommons Park with Selenga, Lanting, and Aokigahara-gege. Eastcommons was a bit more off the beaten path, relative to the fact that it was still a Destiny City park. Further from the main commercial areas in town, not especially close to any municipal buildings either, and while it didn’t seem like too many of the residences nearby were vacant, they did have larger lots than a lot of the homes available in town. More space between them and thus, probably fewer people actually living out this way. The ones who did live here probably occupied a very cushy tax bracket, though, judging by the high quality of the playground equipment, the intricacy in its design, and the variety of available activities.
“We should feel them coming soon,” Kaifeng said, looking up and over at the miniature clock-tower near the park’s center. It was getting pretty close to the time that he and Dunwich had agreed on. “They’ll be a Page and a Squire. She’s about Lanting’s height, curvy, in Neptune colors—so, blues, greens, very ocean-themed? And Dunwich-jiejie said that her husband is pretty tall with Saturn grays and purples.”
