Rowan hoped that ordering in Greek food would be enough to make up for calling Halia over for another bizarre question session. Halia had never mentioned space travel to her, but maybe she knew something. Or knew someone who knew something. Maybe once she had a better grasp on this whole thing she could bring Halia to Tempesti. If she put aside the terrifying almost-memories that knocked her flat, the experience had been fascinating. She’d even brought home a souvenir. A terrible, creepy souvenir that seemed like it was glaring at her from wherever it sat and that might somehow contain even more unpleasant revelations. Not that the previous one had been particularly revelatory. She hadn’t touched the former blade since putting it on her living room bookcase and dropping one of her special occasion cloth napkins over its scowl. A buzz from her phone let her know that the delivery driver had dropped off the food. At least she had that going for her.

When Halia's phone flashed with a text notification, she didn't hesitate at accepting Rowan's request and let her friend know she would be over shortly. It made her feel good, proud and reliable, that she was able to be there for her friend, for the newly awakened senshi she had become. She was more than happy to answer anything she could, and anything that she couldn't, would be likely directed to Keiran or Kiyoshi afterward. After all, what good was it having two friends who were Eternal level senshi if she couldn't prod at them with questions now and again? She really would have to make some introductions at some point for Tempesti.

As she approached her friends home, she nodded politely at the delivery person as they walked by her and she picked the food up that they had delivered, smiling warmly as her friend opened the door. "Looks like my timing was pretty good today. Whatever you ordered, it smells amazing." Halia seemed significantly better than the last time Rowan had seen her. Less stressed, less anxious, and most importantly, in less pain.

As Rowan opened the door she was pleasantly surprised to see Halia already standing there. “It definitely was, I hope you like Greek food!” To her relief, her friend looked like she was feeling better, she’d been more than a little bit worried about her after their last magic-related conversation.

Obviously their broader situation was troubling, but there was nothing she could do about that. At least right now. She was dead set on addressing that later. Hopefully her newest development would provoke more curiosity than concern. She gestured for her to come in, “I can grab you something to drink, what would you like?” There was no reason that she couldn’t be both a good host and a bearer of weird news.

"Greek is actually a....bit of a comfort food of mine, actually." Halia smiled softly, though it looked like she was remembering something long since passed. Returning her attention back to her friend, she stepped inside.

"I'm fine with water, really. But thank you." She handed over the food and gave her friend another small smile before taking a seat on her couch. As always, Halia seemed to try and take up as little space as she possibly could, seeming almost to shrink somehow with how she kept her hands in her lap and elbows pressed against her sides. It was a habit of years and years of being taught that she wasn't allowed to exist, and it would be a habit that would be hard to break.

"I take it this is a conversation of the... magical nature?" She tilted her head inquisitively, curious as to what had gotten her friend so excited. "If it's more questions, I would be happy to answer what I can, though I'm afraid I don't know a whole lot more than last time we talked about senshi stuff." Other than, of course, it was more than just her and her boss that were senshi at her work, and that her two coworkers were ex members of the chaos faction, and that one of them had it particularly bad for a General King. But that was an entire mess that she did not need to drag Rowan into. Well. Not anytime soon at least.

Rowan was pleased that she’d chosen well, in terms of food delivery anyway. “I’m glad to hear it, there should be plates and cutlery in the bag so help yourself! She nodded at Halia’s request for water and as she poured cold water into the glasses she hoped that she wasn’t just trying to avoid being “trouble.” Which of course, didn’t mean anything near what Rowan would actually consider troublesome.

She set the glass down in front of her friend, “If you change your mind, I’ve got a LOT of tea and a few juices.” She sat down across from her. “It is of the magical nature, sorry that it’s of the magical nature so much lately.” She smiled sheepishly, “I’ve started dabbling in well, space travel.” The words sounded entirely absurd as they came out of her mouth. “I went to Tempesti.” Her eyes flicked toward the bookcase.

Halia shook her head with a small smile. "Nothing to apologize for. Senshi stuff can be... overwhelming to put it nicely. And I'm glad I'm able to be here for you. I didn't have anyone to answer questions until about a year after I awakened as Aruna." Honestly until she had met Sonora, she didn't really have anyone she could even call a friend, much less anyone to answer questions for her.

At the revelation of her friend having left the planet, Halia stopped with food halfway to her mouth. She slowly looked up at Rowan and blinked as she processed her words. "That is....wow. How was it?" Traveling to Aruna was something Halia had yet to even consider, even over a year after having awakened. The idea of space travel made a knot of anxiety form in her stomach, frankly, though she knew she would eventually have to get over it. "If....if you have questions about it, I might not be the best person to ask. I haven't ever gone off planet before." She did figure that Kerberos would likely be able to field questions she had no answers to, either in person with an introduction or second hand through Halia. Worst case, she would just make a list of everything her friend wanted to know and ask her boss when they had a moment to slip off the work floor and talk.

Rowan ran her hands through her hair, trying to push out the words sticking in the back of her throat. Her body was unwilling to articulate what her mind already knew. Or thought it knew.

The smell. Ozone. Burning hair.

The searing blue-hot lancing through her every nerve.

The paradoxical sensations of crushing and cutting splintering through her chest.

Then the silence.

“It was… a lot. A lot.” She blinked back the stinging in her eyes as she spoke, choking out her next words, “I… touched something. That,” she gestured at the napkin-covered lump on her bookshelf, “and I got back a memory. A bad one.” She exhaled sharply, as though attempting to knock loose the truth, “I think it was my last battle.”

That was easier than saying the rest out loud.

“When it was over I just ran. It’s embarrassing.” She scowled at the thought. “I’ve got your back if you ever have to…feel something like that.”
