This new power was...fascinating. Diaboleite was still finding his way around them, around what it meant to be Diaboleite rather than just Gerard. But it was...indeed...power. And that was what he craved, in truth.

Draining energy was interesting. A simple exercise, really, swiping a little from one person or another, and he barely turned heads wandering down the street in a fancy suit. Better tailored than anything he had in his civilian life, and finer too--Diabolite wished he knew a tailor who could achieve something like this for his day-to-day.

Ah well.

He moved from a busy street to a less occupied one, slipping out of the crowd and examining the glowing bloom of energy in his palm. Enough, perhaps--but enough was never enough for Gerard. He would take a few moments, he decided, and then go back for more, to be assured he would present more than enough.

This whole magical life, this knight thing, was still very new for Novella and he still wasn't comfortable with it. He was becoming more, and more, comfortable with it though. It was why he'd decided to go for a late night walk as Santa Maria Novella, though where he was walking or what he planned to do was up in the air, he just didn't want to be home tonight. His step brother was home, rather than in his dorm room, and had already laid hands on him and threatened him with worse. He hadn't liked that Kinsey had bumped into him when he'd been stepping out of his room to throw out the small trash bag from his bathroom.

It was little things like that which set his step brother off, it really took so little, he did wonder how his step brother ever planned to seriously date someone when he had such a short fuse. Though maybe it was just for Kinsey that he had a short fuse. Afterall he didn't get like this with anyone else in the family.

When he felt someone else, someone like himself but darker, the pale eyed teen wondered what was coming his way. Whoever it was...they weren't a threat? That in mind Kinsey didn't stop walking, letting his feet decide where he went.

There was a disturbance on his senses. Diabolite supposed that this was one of those auras--and it felt different, wrong, so that was probably the other side. A Senshi or Knight, some naive moron who served an extraterrestrial master that would eventually come calling.

That wasn't to imply the Negaverse didn't, of course. Metallia. Laurelite. The General-Sovereigns. But they were grounded. Here. Not whatever metaphysical force compelled the other side.

In any case. There was one of them, and they were close enough to cause problems. So Diaboleite went searching, looking for someone out of place--and. Yes. Overly fancy outfit. Away from the crowd.

And so ******** young. Christ.

"Should you be out so late? Surely you have homework to be doing."

Novella really was not interested in fights, that was the one thing he'd like to avoid the most, it wasn't because of the house fire incident. It wasn't that at all, where as most would think that was the reason, it was because his focus was on a wonder up in space which needed him as much as he needed it. That was his focus - space.

But he was here, on Earth, powered up and he should have figured someone would sense him and come for him. He had sensed them as well, and he'd hoped they'd have ignored him, but no - they were here to bother him and taunt him.

"All done old man." If they were going to make a dig at his young age he'd make a dig at them as well. A game of tit for tat, as even toned as he was, he wasn't teasing or even coming off agressive but rather...bland and bored even.

"Isn't it bedtime for you?" Maybe not the best idea, to go insulting people, this might just backfire on him but he'd handle it...he'd have to, much as he disliked the idea of that.

Ah yes. A sassy lost child. Realistically, Diaboleite recognized that he had started his, so he would just have to finish it as well. Whatever that ended up meaning.

"Good for you. You still ought to run along home, though." Not that he expected it would matter. "I have work to do, and I don't plan to let a child interfere."

He would throw the first punch, if it became necessary. Not that it was his favorite prospect, but whatever had to be done in order to remove a potential impediment to his ability to drain energy and go home. And better that he teach the lesson to avoid the Negaverse swiftly so this...Page, perhaps? He seemed to fit what Diaboleite understood ought to be a Page, rather than a Senshi, but it wasn't as if he had overmuch experience--knew not to try his little deadpan act with someone who was much less likely to shrug and let it go.

"And if I don't? I certainly don't need you acting like my parent." Because he had enough issues with his own actual parent, and the man wouldn't care or even notice if he was out all night. He was fairly certain his father wouldn't notice him missing for days or even weeks, and if he did it would only be due to things not getting repaired in the house and a lack of shouting directed at him.

He really didn't care for the fighting aspect of this whole magic thing, fighting wasn't his thing, but he also wasn't going to be told what to do or where to go. So he did pull out the letter opener he had, whoever thought this was a weapon was stupid or blind and clueless, but it was at least something.

"I think you need to stop giving orders to people, old man." And he held the letter opener pointed towards the other. Never mind that he didn't want to fight, didn't care what the other was even doing, it was a matter of someone else giving him orders and telling him what to do. That was the issue here.

"Then I'll simply demonstrate why it's wiser to respect your elders," Diaboleite said. Honestly, getting threatened with a letter opener wasn't the worst thing that had happened to him, but it was the principle of the thing.

This brat needed to be taught a lesson. And if it took violence, then so be it.

He snapped out a hand, aiming to grab the Page's wrist and dig his thumbnail in. If Diaboleite could make him drop that sad little letter opener, that would be a victory, and a good grip would give him leverage in a fight.

"And isn't it your generation that should be stepping aside for the younger to take over." He countered, just because he wasn't social didn't mean he didn't talk, Novella was not one who talked much. Often he had to hold his tongue, for obvious reasons, but this time he didn't need to; so he wasn't.

Surprise flashed over his face for a moment before he schooled his expression, he wasn't expecting that, the pain was nothing new for him - his step mother had long nails and liked to do similar on occasion. That didn't mean he didn't drop the letter opener though, he had no choice in the matter, his hand gave and let the item go. But that didn't mean he was without the ability to retaliate as he kicked at the other, trying to hit with the heel of his boot rather than the toe.

Diaboleite snorted. He was thirty, not sixty--certainly "his generation" was still doing quite fine. But he wasn't about to argue that with a snotty teenager who probably thought he had the world all figured out, as every snotty teenager ever had.

He was close. It meant he couldn't dodge, and just had to endure the heel smacking into his shin--which hurt, no doubt, but he still had a hand free, which he could aim in a punch for the kid's gut.

Shut him up that way.

He knew they'd hit back, they had to, he was expecting it but that didn't mean it didn't hrut - it hurt like hell. While he'd been able to hold back a reaction over the others nails, he'd dealt with worse, that was not the case here. He was not able to hold back the pained sound or how he doubled over to protect his mid section from further attention. Rather than righting himself, and facing the other, he made to stomp on his foot. <********." Yanking his arm free, even if it did hurt to do so, he stepped back now to put some distance between them. Biting his bottom lip, hidden by his downturned face, the pale eyed male was hoping to escape this without much more damage taken. He wasn't in this for the fighting but he also wasn't going to be pushed around, and told what to do, by others. He had enough of that in the rest of his life. Not here...but damn it if it didn't hurt trying to defend himself.

There. Shut up, doubled over, and clearly in pain. When the Page yanked his arm free, Diaboleite let go, and even took a step back himself. No need to keep hammering down when he'd already won.

"Walk away," he said. Then, he turned on his heel to do so himself. If the Page was stupid enough to chase him, he'd handle that, but he strongly suspected he'd handed out a solid enough lesson to keep that from happening.

Good.

Watching them walk away, hearing the shoes hitting the ground, Novella finally turned and headed off himself. Slowly, as he walked, he righted himself and heade dhome. Powering down as he went, finding a safe place to power down, he continued on his way home. So much for a trip to space tonight. He'd find another time, when he wasn't hurt, to go.
