Name: Alanna Loxley
Nickname: Al
Gender/Pronoun: sapphic, she/her
Age: 20
Birthday: 5 August 2005
Sign: Leo all the way down
Gemstone: Peridot
Fav. Food: Anything with bacon! The single best way to get on her good side is offer her some bacon-y treat or food dish. She especially loves chocolate-covered bacon, yum.
Hated Food: Pizza. Mainly because she got called “pizza face” when she was a young teen due to the bad acne she had.
School/Occupation: DCU, music major (composing), in her second year; works part-time at a queer-owned thrift shop, doing sorting and stocking (no way in hell would she work the floor); plays bass for an all-female-presenting, all-queer “aggro post-punk noise-pop” band called the Lezz Beans (they have only played parties around campus so far, but just you wait).
Hobbies: Bass Guitar: Alanna knows how to play guitar, thanks to lessons she got as a kid, but her true love is bass. She fell in love with bass while watching an old rerun of “Happy Days” featuring Leather Tuscadero (bass player Suzi Quatro) when she was 13. (That was also when she realized she was gay — she
wanted Leather Tuscadero, and wanted to
be her at the same time.) Saving her allowance and birthday money and with various financial contributions from family and friends, she acquired an old used mapleglo Rickenbacker 4003 bass she spotted at a pawn shop. This thing, beat up and worn as it is, is her baaaaby. She is equally passionate about the art of the bass, which is quite different than guitar; her bass idol, along with Quatro, is Lemmy from the metal band Motörhead. Al plays with a pick like Lemmy did, using an overdriven Orange amp and a distortion pedal for a nice growly bitey sound.
Archery: Al discovered archery in high school; it was one of the phys-ed options offered at Meadowview High, and seemed like something she could tolerate given the alternatives. The girl hated all the other options, having been forced into softball in her sophomore year. You’re not competing as a team against another team in archery, not the way you do in softball — it’s a solo sport, even if you are competing against another school’s archers. Alanna got very good at archery in her junior year, and even went on to compete on the school’s archery team, winning regionals and going on to state finals. She still knows her way around a bow, shooting competitively with the archery squad at DCU. While she uses a compound bow with the stabilizer and everything on the squad, she prefers a simple self bow when shooting for her own practice and enjoyment. It feels more pure to her, like a more honest, straightforward way to shoot.
Virtues:Persistent: Alanna has got to be one of the most obstinate people in Destiny City. Once she's made up her mind about something, she will pursue it unrelentingly, despite any difficulty or especially any opposition that may arise; in fact, opposition makes her all the more determined – gives her more of a reason to fight for it. Tenacious as a terrier, Al can be absolutely single-minded in her pursuit of something she wants, whether it be a goal or a person or anything that people tell her she can't get. Her persistence usually pays off, too, as her undeniably stubborn nature will often outlast anything or anyone standing in her way. It's one of the things holding her band together.
Protective: When it comes to those she cares about in her life, Alanna is a vigilant guardian and protector. She keeps a watchful eye out for her friends and bandmates, taking out any perceived threats with the same ferocity as a lioness defending her cubs. While often coming across as mean, even cruel, to those who look to harm or take advantage of her or hers, she is the very picture of a mama bear to her friends and bandmates. If Al counts you as a friend, she will constantly be on you to make sure you've eaten, drank some water, taken your meds – gently but firmly. And if she thinks more of you than simply a friend, look out. She's as gallant and chivalrous as the noblest of knights if she fancies you. What's your favorite color, your favorite flower? Alanna will shower you with gifts and spoil you rotten.
Flaws: Vengeful: A word of advice to the wise: don't cross Alanna Loxley. She will neither forgive nor forget what you've done, whether it's to her directly or to someone she cares about. This girl is vindictive to an extreme no matter what the slight was; revenge is never off the table, and very often the revenge she seeks will be public and brutal. Al makes Clint Eastwood's "Man with No Name" movie character look like an amateur with how unforgiving she can be. And her vengeful nature doesn't stop with direct slights – she vehemently resents those who seem to get away with things that would get her in trouble, and she will bear a grudge against them that can last an eternity.
Vicious: The word 'fierce' doesn't even begin to describe Alanna's basic nature. She's a wild child, as feral as a stray dog that's been hanging out with wolves, and just as ferocious. Her aggressive manner can come across as threatening to others, even people she's known for a long time – and most of the time it's intentional. Al has been through a lot in her young life, a lot of things that would have broken anyone who wasn't fierce; more than just a defense or self-preservation mechanism, it's become something of a lifestyle for her. As a result, her dealings with others, especially rivals or authority figures, can be as brutal as any pirate's, asking no metaphorical quarter and giving none.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTIONHere's a reference image!Eyes: Alanna has green-grey eyes, the color of the ocean or the eyes of the gods from Welsh mythology, almond shaped with long lashes and slightly downturned scowly dark brows.
Hair: Al's hair is white-blonde with darker blonde roots, worn short in kind of a pixie shag, straight and thick with heavy messy fringe parted on the left and flopping over her eyes and into her face.
Face: She has pixie-ish features – a heart shaped face, full-ish mouth and button nose — except this pixie has Seen Some s**t. She wears an almost perpetually skeptical expression, if a cute one. Even her bass-face snarl is cute. She doesn’t wear makeup except on stage, at the insistence of her bandmates.
Skin Tone: Fair and clear, about hex code
#FFEBD6Body Type: Al is short at about 5' even, and built
whippy thin; she often gets mistaken for a teenage boy, which she
hates. She's stronger than she looks, though, and that comes from hefting totes and boxes of clothes around at the thrift store, plus from being a very physical bass player with a very heavy bass guitar.
Clothes: Her wardrobe is fairly butch, consisting primarily of close-fitting t-shirts and tank tops worn over slim jeans or leather pants, with lots of plaid flannel shirts and classic Doc Martens. In the heat of the summer, she swaps the pants out for surfer-style jams and Birkenstocks; when winter comes, she adds a black leather biker jacket, a keffiyeh scarf in pride colors, and cozy knit gloves. Al’s stage gear, such as it is, doesn’t differ much from her regular clothing — slim leather pants, a tank top, her pride keffiyeh, and her Docs. She also wraps bandannas around her wrists so she won’t drip sweat all over her bass.
