Sounds of the Season (9) : Seasonal songs play constantly this time of the year, and between old classics and new hits, there’s always something for everyone on the quest for Holiday cheer. One song, more than all the rest, is hitting hard. It’s catchy and festive and even though you’ve heard it a hundred times, it’s still exciting whenever it comes on again. Something about this song fills you with such joy and merriment that it’s almost impossible to resist the urge to spontaneously dance or sing along with it. There’s something magical about it; it’s an instant mood lifter and can make even the chilliest winter days feel a little warmer.

Most of the time he didn’t listen to the radio, especially around the holidays in December. And November. And October. And September depending on how far back a company wanted to start preparing, which was staring to get a little crazy. Halloween was a much better holiday in his opinion, as nice as the Winter ones were, nothing beat Scariness and candy.

However, this year he had been subjected to it against his will when one of his coworkers decided that they needed to listen to the radio without using headphones so all songs were blasted in the room that John was attempting to study the pieces that they were going to put out for display. Luckily he could tune many of them out, often being songs he had heard hundreds of times before in the decades that he had been alive. There were some new covers of old songs that didn’t really add anything that hadn’t been done before, but one song he just couldn’t get out of his head, and it seemed, neither could the other listeners of this particular radio station as it seemed to go on for a considerably long time, before John noticed that it had been continually requested. And he had to admit, this one was quite entertaining and he looked forward to it every time that it came back on.

This of course, happened sometimes with new songs, sometimes he had to listen to them at least a hundred times before his brain yelled at him to stop it, or a new song decided to worm itself inside of his head, but this one seemed odd. Like no matter what happened he just couldn’t get enough of it. It was concerning and the fact that he was also a Knight, at least a Squire, the fact that it was so hypnotizing made him wonder if there were more nefarious factors at play.

He wouldn’t be surprised if the Negaverse was in charge of at least one radio station in the city, after all, propaganda was nothing new to the world of radio, but the question was, was the song doing something, like draining them of energy each time it came on? He did feel energized whenever it came on and started again, and he had found himself swaying at times to the song while he was working and mouthing the lyrics to himself. Could the Negaverse have found a way to create a song that took the energy out of everyone that heard it?

As much as his brain had decided it was addicted to the sound, he eventually had to ask for the radio to be turned off at work, which while annoying to the coworker who had brought it in, had brought relief to his other coworkers who were also being distracted by the music. John had his own reasons for wanting it turned off and somehow he managed to keep himself from listening to it at home, but it was yet something else magical during this month that had made him more concerned than happy.
