Quote: A strange anomaly has befallen Destiny City. Ordinarily, a falling pine cone would hardly be worth noticing; there are plenty of them littering the city on a daily basis. However, recently some of these pine cones are causing a bit of noise. Scientists are blaming some bacteria in the trees natural sap as being responsible, but some pine cones are falling to the ground and making loud crackling, popping sounds–or worse, exploding upon contact. As if the sound of small explosives aren’t enough, some reports even claim to have witnessed sparks and small fires. You’d better be careful when walking around any areas with trees–and definitely don’t start throwing these just to see what happens! Bellerophon rubbed his arms again as he felt the cold seep into his skin. As warm as the fur was around his shoulders, he still had skin exposed on his upper arms, allowing the cold air to pierce a bit through the uniform’s magic, enough to make him shiver, but still protected from getting too cold. He still wish he had brought a jacket. But here he was, by himself in the cold having told New he was going out for a walk when in reality he had wanted to see what was up with the pinecones this year. He had heard them falling and snapping and had even had a pair of jeans get a new hole in them by one exploding near him, which made him wonder if there was any magic to it, or if he was just looking too deeply into things. He had wanted to collect a few as well to try his Senshi magic on. He was still human and he still wanted to see how much one would explode if he breathed fire on it. From a safe distance. Or he hoped he would have enough distance. The one that had shred his jeans in the afternoon was only 2 feet away from him. His fire breath only reached 5 feet. Now he really wished he had brought that fire shield with him. But he hadn’t and so now he could only use what he had and placed the pinecone that he had grabbed in a spot on the ground he had dug so that snow wouldn’t be too close to it. And then he whispered “Fire shout”, holding his mouth closed and then letting open a controlled flame towards the pinecone. When the fire had just engulfed the pinecone, it exploded with a loud CRACK! And Bell quickly jumped away in order to not be hit by the pieces. What he didn’t expect was the aura of an Agent near him that he only now noticed. He sighed. “I know you’re there!” He said in the direction that he felt the aura. “I’m not here to fight.”

The crisp night air was filled with the lingering crackle of heat and the sharp smell of scorched pine as Isolde stepped out from behind the trees, her golden eyes narrowing on the Dark Mirror Senshi in front of her. “Not here to fight, huh?” she said, her voice laced with sarcasm. “Good thing, too. You’d lose a battle with your own experiments at this rate.” She adjusted the black gloves on her hands, keeping her movements slow and deliberate as she took in the scene: the scorched snow, the crater where the pinecone had exploded, and the faint aura of chaos that clung to him. “Tell me," she continued, her tone light but with an edge of mockery, “is setting fire to volatile pinecones your idea of fun, or are you just trying to see if you can blow yourself up before anyone else does?” She smirked and crossed her arms, leaning slightly to one side. Despite her words, there was a flicker of genuine curiosity in her expression. Dark Mirror Senshi were chaotic, unpredictable—sometimes an asset, sometimes a liability. Either way, they were interesting. ((186))

Ugh Agents. If they weren't told from the top that they had to get along with the Negaverse, he was sure that he would have burnt a few to a crisp by now. He rolled his eyes. "If you must know, I was interested more in the pinecones that were said to explode. I just wanted to see how much firepower they had with my own powers."He looked to the side as he saw another one fall. "If you want I could throw one at you and show you." He said with a smirk. "If you're going to stay here and attempt to insult me we can battle it out if you so wish. But I'm assuming you came out here for reasons other than looking for a fight with Senshi that your group considers at least somewhat allies." He crossed his arms, his usual pose when talking with... anyone really. It was up to the Agent now with what would happen in the next few seconds.

She strolled closer, her black coat trailing behind her like a shadow. The cold didn’t seem to bother her, though her fingers idly toyed with the charm at her waist. “Throw one at me? Oh, darling, I’d love to see you try. But if it’s a demonstration you’re offering, I think I’ll pass. I quite like my coat without scorch marks, thank you.” Her gaze flicked to the falling pinecone he had mentioned, watching as it hit the ground with an ominous pop. “Charming,” she remarked dryly. “Though I have to admit, the idea of weaponized pinecones does sound like something Destiny City would dream up. Maybe I should start collecting them—imagine the chaos a well-timed explosion could cause in the right setting.” Isolde tilted her head, studying Bellerophon with a sly grin. “But you’re right. I didn’t come out here looking for a fight. As much as I enjoy antagonizing you lot, I have better things to do than sparring in a forest over… pinecones.” Her tone dripped with mockery, but her posture remained relaxed, one hand still resting on her charm. Her smile widened as she took in his crossed arms. “Look at you, so defensive. Relax, Chimera-boy. I’m not here to report you for improper use of senshi magic or whatever it is your group worries about. I was curious, and your little display happened to catch my attention.” She turned her attention back to the pinecones scattered on the ground, then to the marks left by his earlier experiments. “I’ll give you this much—you’re creative. Not many would think to turn nature’s debris into a test subject for their powers. Though I do wonder…” She leaned in slightly, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “Did you really think breathing fire on an unstable, explosive object was a good idea? Or were you just hoping to impress someone?” Straightening, she flicked an imaginary speck of dust off her coat. “Well, whatever your intentions, I’d say you’ve proven your point. Those things pack quite the punch. But if you’re not careful, you might blow yourself up before I have the chance to see how well you fight.” ((360))

Bellerophon rolled his eyes. Why they had to be neutral with the Negaverse was beyond him. If they didn't have the Negaverse to worry about, or at least could battle out of the area, they would have way more opportunity to collect energy. Instead they had to share it, like it was an unlimited resource. Too bad his wraiths weren't good for fighting, they would make good distractions. "Something Destiny City would dream up? Sounds like the Negaverse didn't make it then." He said with a bit of a frown. Where exactly was this coming from then. Could pinecones really be this volatile? Were they just really dry? It was something he would have to note down later. He looked her up and down for a moment when she asked if he was wanting to impress someone. "Not my type." He said flatly. "And if you want a fight go ahead and start it already. I'm not going to stand here all day waiting for you. And I was able to see what I came for."

Isolde let out a soft laugh, clearly entertained by Bellerophon's bluntness. "Not your type? Oh, darling, I’m crushed. I’ll have to drown my sorrows in a bottle of wine later. Or maybe just toss a pinecone in the fire and watch it pop—same level of drama." Her smirk deepened, though there was no malice in her tone, just a mocking playfulness. She shrugged casually, her coat shifting with the motion. "And no, I’m not here to start a fight. Like I said, I have better things to do than sparring in the cold with someone who apparently has a death wish playing with explosive pinecones. But..." Her gaze lingered on him for a moment, appraising. "You’re awfully defensive for someone who claims not to care. Makes me wonder—are you always this prickly, or is it just me that gets under your skin?" Turning her attention back to the scattered pinecones, she crouched down, plucking one from the ground with careful precision. "If this isn’t some Negaverse trick, then maybe you should be asking yourself what kind of energy did make these things so volatile. Seems like something you’d want to figure out before the city gets overrun with incendiary Christmas decorations." She stood again, twirling the pinecone between her gloved fingers like a toy. "But hey, what do I know? I’m just a lowly Agent, right? Certainly not clever enough to get into the deep science of exploding tree debris." Her tone was dripping with sarcasm, but there was a flicker of genuine curiosity in her expression.

He grunted. "I've been a Dark Mirror long enough to know to keep my guard up." He hated having to be nice to Negaverse Agents, they basically got to do whatever they wanted while Dark Mirror had to hold back because they didn't want to start a war on two fronts. Maybe the next time they met up the Dark Mirror could finally start kicking some Negaverse a$$. "As if I would have time to figure it out. Every December is the same. Strange stuff happens and none of us can figure out why." He had wondered about that time in the foggy village during that one October. Eventually a Youma came out of that whole mess, but he couldn't say that the Negaverse was behind it. He let out a breath, still watching the Agent. "I would like to focus more on that." More on that than... well the nothing that seemed to be happening with the Dark Mirror at this time.

Isolde tilted her head slightly, observing Bellerophon with a mix of amusement and curiosity. "Well, at least you’re self-aware," she quipped, crossing her arms. "Guard up, ready for battle—classic senshi behavior. But you know what they say about all work and no play, don’t you? Maybe that’s why strange things keep happening in Destiny City. This place is practically begging for some chaos to spice things up." "December does seem to have a knack for being... bizarre. Maybe the city’s cursed. Or maybe it's just our delightful destiny to be caught up in this mess every year." Her tone carried a hint of sarcasm, but there was a glint of intrigue in her eyes. Leaning back slightly, she studied him again. "So, you’re not thrilled with the current state of things in your little mirror crew, huh? I can’t say I blame you. From the outside, it looks like you’re all stuck in some weird limbo. Can’t imagine that’s much fun." She smirked, though her expression lacked the sharpness of her earlier jabs. "And you think we have it easy. Trust me, the Negaverse is no picnic, either. No shortage of chaos to clean up on our end." She took a step back, glancing around at the snow-dappled ground and the treetops above. "But hey, if you’re so eager to focus on figuring this out, maybe you should be asking yourself why Destiny City keeps throwing these curveballs. Could be something bigger than us at play." She looked back at him, her smirk softening into a faint, wry smile. "Just a thought. Or you can keep blowing up pinecones and hoping for answers. Whatever floats your boat."

He couldn't help but lift his eyebrow up at Isolde saying the place needed chaos. As if neither of them gained their powers from Chaos. "I think it already has enough, especially with the Negaverse and their... ways of spicing it up." He replied. He had been told about the aliens that the Negaverse had allied with of course, and had even met one or two. And then all of the Negaverse's schemes that the Dark Mirror were also dragged into at times. Nothing said fun like realizing that one is now stuck in the midst of a battle between Order and the Negaverse. "You aren't wrong about the limbo." But that was something to discuss with other Dark Mirror. Not something that should be talked with the Negaverse. Even if they were "aligned" it didn't mean that the Negaverse wouldn't take every advantage that they could get. And he had to agree that something bigger was at play, but what? It bugged him. Like there was something out there that could step in and help save lives and just... didn't. "Blowing up pinecones gives more answers than just wondering about things." He said. He could feel the conversation waning however. "I think I have what I need from this... experience." The blowing up pinecones and the conversation. "I'll leave you to it then." He said, turning around. "Maybe we'll meet up again." And with that he was off, needing to find the closest mirror that he could get into so that he could just immediately go home.
